Please keep in mind, when the ETH and DAO bug is fixed, we will see the reverse flow from XMR to ETH/DAO, so don't party to hard right now  Wink

so hypothetical here: could the dao plunderer be a monero enthusiast, are people shorting eth for xmr, are people selling their dao for xmr, is this just the quarterly buying spree, and could smooth be behind dao exploit?

last one is :p

[...] The consistent down pressure seems far higher long term than the emission and even if it was equal to the emission then I find it hard to believe all new coins are dumped. Every single time there is a breakout there is a dump, I just cannot figure out why anyone would want to intentionally suppress the price like that (especially if they have the coins to do it: it flies in the face of self interest) and I think it's fanciful to believe it's some other coins troll. [...]

Yup, I was just thinking the very same thing these last few days. Whenever the market goes up even a few percent there's like a flood of sellers willing to market sell it back down. My only possible explanation to this is that whoever is accumulating (and has been since the last low around .0016) wants to dry all the supply at these levels before letting it go up. [...]

Maybe there are just so many bagholders wishing to get out with minimal damage so when the opportunity arises they take it.

Other explanation could be that XMR is currently more coupled to the price in BTC than the dollar.

XMR/BTC is mostly hovering around 0.002, but the dollar value of BTC tripled over the last year. This forces some to rebalance their portfolio since their fiat exposure in Monero tripled, even though the value of their XMR did not increase much against bitcoin.

The above effect gets multiplied when the XMR/BTC ratio is increasing in favor of Monero.

With ETH temporarily out of the way I can't see XMR below 0.035 in the next couple of days...

When was ETH implementing ring signatures again?

There is a simple and delicate law in the crypto world. Never say that your coin is going to implement ring signatures. Never ever say that, in order to hurt monero. The universe will conspire and destroy your coin. Simple as that.

Seems like Monero is considered as an safety haven by the market by those diversified in 'fancy featured' crypto-currencies.

I obviously agree with the current market sentiment, even though Monero is getting increasingly fancy (but cautiously and purposely) with RingCT as well.

0.003 BTC Moneros were cheap 2 years ago, were cheap 1 year ago and especially are cheap in 2016 after Hydrogen Helix release.

Wow, I know Monero's even currently undervalued, but this thing needs to chill for a bit.

At what price do you think the era of mass adoption will take its place?
That's the very point you want to be selling. The buyers are literally begging the bagholders to release a little bit goodies.

Sell orders on Poloniex will soon be under 200k.

Only half day ago was 330k. Like this will dry out till Monday.

Price must raise to change that. How high. I have no ideas.

Trend that no one wants to dump/sell their Moneros i notice in past 2-3 weeks. It is not something really recent, but asks increased right now and escalated all.

It dont, its emission evenly decrease daily. Right now daily emission is about 3 times smaller as it was at start.

Personally I am hoping Monero is able to show exceptional strength to overcome the historically strong resistance on 0.004'ish. That is something that I am looking forward to.

wow, i am impressed. was invested in monero before, bought around 0.002 and sold with a small loss @ the wrong moment. i admit that i had lost faith in monero. congrats to all of you who did not lose faith, hopefully you get rewarded big.

i hope i will find another sweet spot to get back into monero  Wink. uhmmm, need to restore my poloniex account first. or is there any other way to get XMR? is there a wallet out now? or would i have to keep the coins on poloniex?

Its not a bug, there is no fix.

Its lose lose for ETH now. They either honour the contract (as they should) and that gives the attacker 3 million ETH.

Or, they hard fork . Which is completely asinine and kills the currency.

imo this rise in XMR is due to the attacker converting and obfuscating some of the huge amounts of BTC he made shorting ETH before carrying out the attack.

20 cents is a bit overspeculating, we have not been there once ( i guess ) afaik the ATL was 25 cents
