What I say in public not what I recommend my traders Wink

EDIT: I was actually advising them to accumulate!
Quoted for proof of deception.

You just admitted to deception. You lie to profit. Nothing you say on this forum from here on will hold any credibility.

He clearly says that:

"For those interested (and I have many people in my team that like XMR) I still cover this coin because TA is TA.
If I see an opportunity in XMR I will advise everyone to buy."

So it's not deception. It's omission. Which makes sense if you're offering a private service.
That would be deception by omission, also called passive deception.

The deception isn't what bothers me (as it's to be expected), but rather, the braggadocio for it. Comes off as repugnant to me but to each their own.

And yes, your community sucks big time, it is the biggest liability for this wonderful project....

The community is literally the only thing that drives Monero ever-forward. I guess there's a sense of accomplishment because those that struggle to understand what a blockchain is have left, and the remainder have sat through multiple sophisticated attacks against Monero's network, massive crashes in the market depreciating their holdings, and a distinct lack of flashy nonsense that would attract the "blockchain 4.0" crowd. Oh, and then there's me, who keeps telling people not to buy Monero, because I'm pragmatic.

You are welcome to insult the community as much as you want, but I can assure you that the project and the network *is* the community more than it is the code, more than it is the core team.

There was dumpage from 0.003 down to 0.0025 which was an inevitable consequence of the sudden intra 12-hour surge (particularly as ETH appears to be on a minor rebound.)

From here the move upwards is likely to be more relaxed, and certainly should find stability beyond the 0.003 mark.

The good news is that with the order book flushed and the market energy rebooted there is good potential for an easy shot at breaking 0.004 resistance.

Question for XMR core devs:

Under what (if any) circumstances would you request (or like VB forcefully demand under threat of rollback) a halt to XMR activity on exchanges?

We already did this during the block 202612 attack. We asked them to halt deposits and withdrawals (but not trading!) until we figured out what was happening. The minute the fork resolved and we had a handle on what to do about it we told them they could resume.

If, during that fork, an exchange had continued accepting deposits and processing withdrawals we wouldn't have stopped them, that's entirely at their own risk.

Monero still has a lot of work to do, and we don't have $20 million to rest on, so I can imagine that a sophisticated attack like this might be repeated in future. As it stands right now, a resourceful attacked could probably just fork the network based on hashing power alone. Obviously we will do our utmost to ensure that this isn't possible, but if it does happen we will - again - handle things as best we see fit. We won't ever ask exchanges to pause deposits / withdrawals unless we don't know what's going on and fear that we may be under attack.
