1001  Economy / Economics / Re: Lending money or damaging family bond ? on: March 13, 2023, 09:40:17 PM

Managing finances properly is key to our financial life, which is well known to each of us, I guess. I feel like this is in my bones so sometimes I make some decisions subconsciously. I recently ran into a situation where I found myself really awkward. Last July or August(I can't remember that clearly), one of my extended family cousin asked me for three thousand dollars as he lost his job and could not pay off his loans. I refuse to lend him the money cause I knew him well that he was not a solid trustworthy guy. A few days ago we met on a family reunion occasion and he did not really talk to me and I suddenly realized that it was because I didn't lend him money last year. I think about it twice and if he had not been that untrustworthy, I would have definitely lent him the money. Anyway, I hope he is doing fine now and best wishes to him.

OP, just so you know, what you did was the most reasonable choice and it is indeed the right thing to do in that specific situation as there is no win-win about it. Everyone who had the same encounter or will have the same situation as you do will pretty much do the same thing because even if we say that it's your cousin, be it 2nd degree or 3rd degree, it doesn't change the fact that he is not worthy of any of your trust, especially your money.

Now that he took the things into a different matter, it's much better for you to leave him be because you are doing yourself a favor by keeping some safe distance.
1002  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 13, 2023, 08:23:42 PM
We don't have an upcoming well-known fight right now but we have a boxing match this coming March 18, well I am going to leave it here unless anyone is interested in a certain Discussion about the fight, and this is the we also got a Filipino boxer in the Co-Main event

Saturday 03.18.2023 at 09:00 PM ET
Promotion: Golden Boy Promotions
Venue: The Walter Pyramid
Location: Long Beach, California

MAIN EVENT

Gilberto Ramirez VS Gabriel Rosado

CO-MAIN EVENT

Joseph Diaz VS Mercito Gesta

MAIN CARD

Oscar Duarte VS Alex Martin
Eric Tudor VS Damoni Cato-Cain

All information was from TAPOLOGY

Not really that interested to see Ramirez again in the ring because even if he manage to win this one, he will still have to face the fact that he will just be in a dead-end because he cannot beat either one of the champions at 175 pounds. He almost got the same situation with Caleb Plant, people are not interested on him to win anymore because they doubt that he can still make a difference this time when he will face Canelo in the future.
1003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: March 13, 2023, 07:34:17 PM
Well, this is going to be the biggest fight of the year as the PPV sales are sold in just five minutes, it's worth the hype and many years of wait I don't have the figure yet I saw this drop in my social media feed, what I'm sure of is it will surpasses all the other PPV before the fight happens, we will see many more videos of thrash talks because I doubt this two will stop, because the hatred and the dislike are real.

That was really expected considering these two are currently at their prime time and currently at their very best without injury the fight is also hard to predict because they are both capable of surprising their opponent with their fast and huge power punches. I wonder where else they could get money aside from PPV in this fight? is this the fullest money they can make when they sold it out?

PPV sales are sold in just five minutes? I really doubt that because the Garcia-Davis fight haven't released their PPVs yet as they are still on the ticket price right now, also, why would PPVs get sold out? There are unlimited numbers for that certain thing and it's not really limited as like the tickets because the seats are numbered compared to the PPVs which almost every household can subscribe about it as long as they got the money for it.

Yes, surely that is not the PPV of the fight which got sold-out in just mere 5 minutes from it was released. It was the tickets for the fight and in-fact, it is the most fastest tickets that has been sold out in the entire T-Mobile Arena history. Imagine that, an arena which got 20,000 seats just got sold-out in just mere 5 minutes. That is truly fascinating!

I just wanna share some news regarding about the tickets because the people who managed to get themselves a lot of those tickets are now reselling it for an outrageous prices:

1004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 13, 2023, 07:00:22 PM
Some str*p clubs have been dropping Ja's image, I thought that it wasn't him but after looking at the images and the fan's comments, they all tell that it was him.
It's not an actual big thing right when someone goes in there and has some fun but in his case, he's an NBA player and that makes it sense for that establishment to drop his image. If I were Ja, I'll do something like sue the management by releasing that image.

However, Poole's production is not that important. What matters now is that the Warriors continue to win to secure a safe playoff spot.

I agree, they just need to remain consistent just as how they've won against Bucks.

Yeah, but he knows that he is a public figure now, so everything he did on public, for sure someone has eyes on it, camera rolling and stuff like that. He really need a good circle of friends right now, not those gangsta because it can ruin him in the future.

If I'm not mistaken, Poole was made the second unit when Steph went back. But probably he is just having a bad scoring night.

But you can see he still has it, quick moves in the inside and his outside shots.

I hope that kid can renew his self to be a better man once he returns to the hardwood, he was just unfortunate because he was surrounded by the wrong crowd which resonates his actions to act like gangsta. Even the real gangsta like Dame doesn't behave like gangsta because he knows that career is much more important first because that's how you got your life and your family's life comfortable, so be professional about it.

For Jordan Poole, he still got the speed and nothing has change. The only changes was he wasn't getting those passes because Curry is now back on the team and him, back on the 2nd unit but still efficient in his role despite the less load he got.
1005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Street Gambling Risk on: March 13, 2023, 05:57:42 PM
Is street gambling safe?

I mean, totally! Especially if we are talking about the streets and you include gambling in it, certainly those two words when put together will result into a not desirable outcome because there is no authority to protect the gamblers and no moderator to keep the gambling fair and square. It's just a risky gambling for everybody who are in that place.

The same thing will happen even if you know most of the people there because there is always that one man or one group that will always doubt the outcome of especially if they are on the losing side or had a lose streak and suddenly they got that feeling that they are tricked. Safe to say that a fight will suddenly break out in no time.
Yes, it will be like that in the end, we don't know if the place is really safe and the people inside can accept defeat gracefully. As I experienced, defeat sometimes makes us emotional and if we can't control it it will be very dangerous, especially this is a street where anything can happen. When a person is controlled by emotions, they can do anything, and what is even more dangerous for them is money. I would avoid gambling on the street like that.

True, anything that involves with money can always make a man's nature to change that is why money is reckoned to be the root of all evil. The most dangerous ones are that kind of gambler who got the needs of his family on his shoulder and to make things easier, he gambled all the money left in hopes to earn as fast as he could and then he thinks he was cheated. It's pretty much safe to assume that things will get messy in just moments because of that doubt that he felt which resulted to a lose of his funds.

So, yes, street gambling is very much a dangerous place to be in and no matter how good and lucky you are in gambling, there's a good chance that you won't be leaving the place in the same way you entered it. Trust me because these things are pretty notorious in our place especially in streets with almost no police presence.
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advantage of holding Bitcoin in time of crisis on: March 13, 2023, 03:15:46 PM
...
So I think Bitcoin's volatility will always remain but its price will continue to rise as well.

How do you imagine it? Entire world GDP is about 96,510 billions USD. Bitcoin total issue is 21 million. So if bitcoin will cost around 4.5 million its capitalization will be equal to entire world GPT. It's about 200 times more than now, and 10 years ago bitcoin was about 100 USD what is 200 times less than now. So if volatility and growth will remain then in about ten years all bitcoins will cost more than everything in the Earth. It is impossible. Volatility will certainly go down in time.

But it's still called volatility, right? Even if the movement becomes slower over the time.

Anyway, it's too soon to discuss about these things and that bitcoin will be valued around $4.5 Million somewhere in the future because we are yet to cross the $100k mark, what more at least $1,xxx,xxx. Furthermore, I know that it's likely in the future that bitcoin will be valued as much as 100 times from the last ATH, but we should know as well that anything is not guaranteed and what we have right now are mere speculations only.
1007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 10, 2023, 02:41:07 PM

Bringing a really good player does have some risks involved. A player can get injured.
When any team is spending money for any player, they always have to remember the risk versus reward.
Bringing in someone like Kevin Durant is of course going to be a high risk, high reward move.

And that's exactly what's happening. He is getting injured but when he is playing he is actually playing well.

This kind of risk is given and it’s a small price to pay compared to the amount of contribution that a player can give both performance and popularity to the team which usually drives the profit of a team since many fans of that star player will now support his new found team.

The chance of a player being injured is very low also the management can check the injury records on a player before they will acquire him.

The Suns have benefited from the trade because Durant is a superstar and that will make their team more popular.

Every team wants to make the playoffs and have a chance to win a championship, and in the case of the Suns, they were embarrassed by the Mavericks in the last playoffs when they lost in game 7 by a blowout. This is their chance to improve their team. They took a risk by trading some of their role players, and it's just unfortunate that Durant got injured. Of course, no one can see the future, which is why we call it a 'risk'.
1008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 10, 2023, 11:59:44 AM
Congratulations to Paul Lee for winning the 3-point shootout. He didn't even take off his T-shirt while shooting, yet he still won the game. It looks like Paul Lee's 3-point shooting has improved a lot, and the good thing about him is that he is a clutch player, so he is not pressured in tough situations.

His total score was 27 points, Lassiter had 21, and Tiongson had 18, if I'm not mistaken.

Was there any betting odds on that particular event? I've been waiting to bet on it, but I missed the action because I didn't realize that the All-Star week had already started. Anyway, congratulations to Paul Lee. He just proved to the young guns that he is still a tough 3-pointer. I saw the highlights, and he even had a turnaround after his last shot, like what Curry usually does. LOL!
1009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel selling your BTC against your plans? on: March 10, 2023, 08:38:34 AM
Good to hear if you are managing your investment well and everything happen based on your plans. However, for some here who have no let options but to sell
That's true.

We have no option but to sell because it is where most likely our savings is in and as long as it is in profit, we still feel the regret that we have to let go with our holdings because we don't know if we'll be able to take it back at the same amount.

Just think that you've used the profit in good purpose and that's already a great deal to you after holding it for a quick or long period of time. That's the best consolation that one will get by thinking that you've got the best deal ever with your money through investing in bitcoin and upon selling it in profit, you'll use it for that important thing you want to purchase.
Not all the time do our plans work so well, sometimes we got to reach tough days when we need to diversify our plans and take the plan B.
Might selling not at the perfect price is disappointing but I don't think it is a failure but kinda be a test of how we respond to the situation, especially when we are following the plan. This would tell us that not all can manage to hold and if they broke their plan, I believe there is a valid reason why it happens - emotional or emergency.
1010  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and education on: March 09, 2023, 01:34:36 PM
Exactly as you say. If both can be achievable and it is within your capability, then you can grab both. As of now, money or education offers options for you to choose from. Since both also doesn't guarantee a better or successful future, you can't choose between the two, but instead choose both.

What's important right now in our society isn't something so complicated but the word "option". I have seen so many of my former batchmates and even those who are older than me who attained good education still telling me that somehow, they regret not being able to build themselves but instead build their career, coz in the end what they have left is degree but not the freedom to choose what they like and where they like to be. I am also somewhat against the idea of telling kids to study hard coz it'll bring you good future, but as always even with good educational background it is still so hard to land a job. As you've said that the competition is fierce, it reminds me of what our ancestors did back then, and it will always be the same. All of us are just gathering resources in order to survive, and the improvements of our lives due to technology or evolution only gives us more chances to find more options just in case we hit a certain wall.
We'd come to the reality that having a good educational background leads you a way to get a good job and a high salary. And this is what has been taught in school and encouraging students to focus on their studies just for the sake of having good grades. Well, we can say that some got the purpose of being good at school and being rewarded but some were also unfortunate for not getting the right job for them.
However, this is not the last option to survive and make a good living. There are several ways to do it, we don't need to wait to come but rather find it by ourselves.
1011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you say about this investment plan on: March 09, 2023, 12:58:55 PM
Is it safe to invest in Defi projects that has it's own Stablecoin?
Yes, but it's decentralized stablecoin. Maybe it's another niche to eliminate the reliance on traditional stablecoins being controlled for regulation. We can't be reckless with continuing to believe in tether, the experience of BUSD could be a clear proof of its risky situation. I'm also learning about a project that builds defi finance, and has its own stablecoin backed by bitcoin.

Well, choosing stablecoins for investment is not a great choice. It was not because of being centralized and controlled price but due to the previous history of Luna bringing something unclear situation. I do admit I was still using BUSD but never I use to hold them long, it was just for some transactions. It was not the worrying part I see about stablecoins because it still usable in the market. Nor do I think defi is a threat to the market cause I know they have been created for some reason and so people give trust and invest in them.
1012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will you feel when your government make BTC legal? on: March 08, 2023, 12:20:09 PM
I think I wont feel any difference from what I feel now towards cryptocurrency. First of all Bitcoin or cryptocurrency isnt illegal in my country. What government cares is that I must pay income tax if I get any income. That is all.

The government legalized bitcoin not because they want it to grow but because they want to control and tax those who invest in it. I also don't care much whether my government accepts bitcoin or not because, so far, what the government has done is for their own benefit, never for the people, for the country as it is often said. I am not against the government, but they are human like us, personal interests still come first, so I do not expect any decision from them.
That is actually the common view we can see from legalizing Bitcoin. It was sad to say but the government won't take action without expecting returns and benefits and they urge holders/users to pay their taxes once legalized. We are the same, I don't see it was too important to become legalized because as long as it was not banned, people are still free to acquire and use their Bitcoin, and also stores are free to accept payments. But in the moment that the government will have control over crypto, problems may occurs and afraid of being abused.
1013  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it legal for our kids to learn trade? on: March 08, 2023, 11:56:55 AM
I want to know if it right for children that are of 10-15years go in to trade or not because I have a kid friend of about 14years and very eager to learn trading but am scared of the lost and how long it will take him to understand what his doing, because it hasn't been very easy for me. So what your opinion please I need help? because I think is too risky for them to go in to trade for now.
I actually interested to teach young minds who have carried such eagerness and interest. In fact, they are not too young to grasp ideas from what we taught to them to think that we are wasting our time. Well, the idea is just about learning to trade and it was okay, but if it needs to do actual trading and create an account, this could be a problem, especially if they are asking for KYC. I know that there are exchanges that never require KYC which is an avenue for them to practice more and do trading. Just like the normal thing we do, start with small amount and keep that limit until they become ready to big responsibility.
1014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 08, 2023, 10:17:05 AM

If the Lakers successfully got through with healthy the Warriors, I bet they could also find a way to defeat the starless Grizzlies as Ja Morant is now out for the rest of the season.

Lakers manage to beat the Grizzlies at home, a different Memphis when Ja is not playing not sure what happened to them, they are not playing with good chemistry unlike before when Ja is resting they are capable of winning games.

The other two games didn't materialise as both Warriors and favorites did not cover the spread, worse with the
Warriors, as they lose the game, lots of turnovers in the final quarter the rally did not succeed and OKC beat
to defend the home crowd.

Maybe the news about Ja Morant has affected them. However, we must also understand that the Lakers have improved despite not having Lebron James. That's just part of the game, and the most important thing is for Memphis to retain their playoff position. This team has already underestimated their opponents, and it would be a shame if they miss the playoffs.

As for Morant, he is fine in the West, remember?
1015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 08, 2023, 08:09:16 AM

Enough about Franklin. Let's discuss today's games. In the first game, we have Blackwater versus Magnolia, and in the second game, Ginebra will play DYIP. It may not be an exciting lineup, but we have no other options since there is no other action scheduled for today.

So far, it's a close game, and it seems to be the same for the Magnolia vs. DYIP game. Maybe we will see another overtime, and Blackwater will threaten to defeat Magnolia. Hehe, it's also a low-scoring game so far. After scoring 32 points in the 1st quarter, Magnolia only scored 16 in the 2nd quarter.

I'm betting on there being over 58 points scored in the 3rd quarter. I have a feeling it will be a high-scoring quarter.
1016  Economy / Economics / Re: A steady source of income is a man's bottom line to support his family on: March 07, 2023, 12:21:31 PM

from the story you told, it is an important lesson for all of us, where main income or fixed income is more meaningful and very useful for our daily lives in covering every need needed. a very simple example is for all of us, it is true that the income we can achieve with crypto will be greater than our fixed income, therefore use all of our money as best as possible
Do you mean that use your entire money in investing crypto? No, you are wrong, it was not advisable at all and I don't encourage it as it just invests only extra money.

Maybe you are right that some are earning more here but never make this a basis that we need to put everything we have because we are not certain of what will happen. And besides, not all have made a huge income because as you can see, a lot of people had lost in crypto also, and might this happen to you mate?
1017  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Emotion and Trade? on: March 07, 2023, 11:43:44 AM
The term trading is short but its boundaries are endless. There is no way to call it easy. You cannot become a successful trader by simply buying and selling. For this one has to acquire proper knowledge. A trader must think deeply about a few things in particular. Risk factors, greediness and emotion control. Most of the traders are losing their money even after making good profits due to lack of emotion control. Moreover, controlling greed is another big reason for success in trading. Those who can manage trading with a good understanding of these issues are expected to be successful.
And definitely agree with that. A thing that we don't need to underestimate trading because there are a lot of factors that could affect our trades and even cause losses. I don't say we need to become emotionless but at least we have to control it once needed. Greed and being emotional, it is quite normal to us but we at least know our limitations as well and also we know how to differentiate between what is right and what is wrong. And the best thing to do is to seek advice from other traders when a crisis comes and ask for some opinions.
1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoins do you think are currently still cheap but have good potential for on: March 06, 2023, 10:34:31 PM
I want to ask everyone, now the number of altcoins is increasing and the prices are various, do you know, in your opinion, what altcoins are still cheap now but have good potential for the future?
I want to hear an explanation from you?
You can invest in AI projects this time as it was probably be making a trend this year or next year. But you should also be careful choosing them and must do research before buying. However, I don't suggest you just look for the cheapest one because no potential coins that are cheap.
I have experience looking for cheap coins and bought it but until now, it is still stuck in my wallet, and can't sell them anymore as they are turning into scam - this might happen to you then if you push to take cheap coins instead of just looking potential coins.
1019  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: March 05, 2023, 09:01:30 PM
~snip~
That specific fight made Thurman waste a couple of years and if only he didn't get inactive, he could've been a champion and redeem his loss towards another boxer. But it is what it is, now he is up against a man whom he did rejected few years back.
^ Had he been more active and not suffered that setback, he may have been able to become a champion and redeem himself against other opponents. As for Thurman rejecting a fight against a certain boxer in the past, that is also a common occurrence in the sport of boxing. Boxers and their teams have to carefully consider their options and choose the fights that make the most sense for them at any given time. It is possible that Thurman made a decision that he felt was best for his career at the time, and there is no way to know if that decision was right or wrong in retrospect. The sport of boxing is full of unpredictable twists and turns, and fighters must be able to adapt and overcome challenges in order to achieve success. We will have to wait and see how Thurman fares in his upcoming fights and whether he can make a comeback to the top of the sport. I am with Thurman anyway.

I agree, he was once the top dog of this division, fighting the best in them and beating them all, until he got injured himself, and he was not the same anymore. So we can't blame him not fighting Spence prior, even if Spence call him our not. During that time, Spence is just coming up in the ranks and so just making a name for himself but he had the sight on Thurman as he call him out. But that unfortunate event in Thurman is that he didn't fight Spence when he was in his prime and Spence coming up as a new comer and maybe they treat him as no one that time. But now it's different, Spence is the champion and Thurman is no longer the champion.

That's how things went and now they finally meeting each other it's a matter of the name behind no belt to risk but purely for the sake of entertainment and for those fans who are aiming to see who's going to be the best between these two great fighters, I personally see that if ever Thurman make an upset, he will negotiate and maybe a possibility to call for Crawford for a title belt,

Else, Spence will be ready to go for a rematch and give Thurman a chance for a title match opportunities.

I bet Thurman was disappointed to himself because it took him almost 3 years before he gets active again as a lot of things has happened in the industry mainly in the welterweight division when he got inactive to the industry and one of those things is that the boxers that are holding the belts now are not that easy to defeat especially in his situation where he's still pulling himself together to adjust.

Still too early to talk about other the what if's in the future because it's not that yet clear whether he can weather Spence or not.
1020  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 05, 2023, 08:22:52 PM
There was another player Gilbert Arenas years ago who was suspended for a year over bringing a gun to the lockerroom.

https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/arenas-suspended-after-bringing-guns-to-locker-room-1.531845

IMO the 2 situations are not the same, but I still expect the commissioner will likely step in and possibly issue a longer suspension or a very stern warning to Morant and the rest of the league over guns.

Yeah, I remember that. The incident with Arenas is a great example of how a stupid thing can ruin a player's career in the NBA. It's worth noting that Arenas was a very capable player, as he averaged 29 points per game in his prime. However, teams lost interest in him after that incident, and he ended his NBA career just two years later. As for Morant, you're right that the league management should suspend him for a longer period of time to discourage him from doing such things in the future.

Regarding Ja Morant's issue and suspension:
Quote
"I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being," Morant, who has deactivated his Twitter and Instagram accounts, wrote in a statement to ESPN and The Athletic.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/grizzlies/2023/03/04/grizzles-ja-morant-flashes-gun-instagram-live-nba-investigating/11398803002/

On the same article, it has been said that the NBA opened an independent investigation but it wasn't disclosed what will likely happen to Ja and what would be his punishment if he's proven guilty but some people are already speculating that it will lead to a much longer suspension. Poor kid, it doesn't have to be like this if only he wasn't surrounded by wrong people.
