1401  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer on: June 16, 2022, 02:08:00 PM
~

First I want to say I am sorry for your loss.  I should have lead with that when I responded yesterday.  I hope it wasn't an expensive lesson to learn, and that you did learn how to be more careful.

The scammer that played OP is really smart because it is hard to identify the difference between the 2 telegram ID if you don't point it out.

This idiot has been at it since Bitcoin was trading for under $10K.  If he was smart he would have squirreled away a bit, cashed out ATH, and buggered off.  Instead, the moron is still here, scrounging around the forum looking for naive newbies to scam.

Maybe you should stop making deals over emails and telegram which is a haven for scammers. You already have a profile here, making adverts and getting customers in this forum. What's the point of carrying out the other part of the deal off the forum?

To some extent I can understand the need to use an off-site messaging app, especially for newbies who have PM sending restrictions.  Many old-timers block newbies from sending them PMs in the first place, I do not.  Anyone can send me a PM.  As for Telegram, I must admit I actually like it as a messaging app, I find it very useful.  But like any tool that offers it's users a measure of freedom, some will abuse it.

Or at least try to confirm that the person sending you a message in telegram is not an impersonator.

That's it right there, and it really doesn't take much:  All the OP would have had to do is copy my Telegram UID from my profile page, and paste it into the search field in his Telegram app.  It would have been made clear that he was not talking to me, but the impostor.

I even had one of these scam accusation threads made against me because apparently someone with my forum username on telegram (apparently successfully) scammed someone who thought they were dealing with me.

If you have a good reputation here on the forum it's just a matter of time before someone tries to impersonate you on Telegram.  I have my suspicions about who's behind this, I even discussed it in the thread that you started back when this happened to you.

I probably wouldn't have been attentive enough to tell the difference between DireWolfM14's imposter either.

Me neither, which is why it's so important to be diligent.  I first notice this particular scammer when I started offering escrow services, but this is the first time I've seen where he was successful in scamming anyone.  The member who sent me a PM on Monday morning narrowly averted getting scammed himself.

Hell, someone tried this scam on me a few years ago and I almost fell for it.  I posted about it at the time, but I don't want to bring up the thread because I had actually accused a reputable member of attempting to scam me.  It was during that discussion that I learned what had actually taken place.

I've made it as easy as possible for people to confirm that they're talking to me.  I have my actual local time set as my forum time, you can see my local time on my profile page and I have a very typical schedule.  I have my real Telegram UID on my profile page, along with other contact information.  All of this in an effort to help people avoid being scammed by this impostor.
1402  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer on: June 15, 2022, 09:09:41 PM
copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer, he let me provide him vcc first, then he goes disappear

You are absolutely 100% correct that DireWoIfM14 is absolutely 100% a scammer.  Don't deal on Telegram without confirming the identity of the individual here on the forum!  My psudonym is DireWolfM14, not DireWoIfM14.  See the difference?  This is why I have my Telegram name on my profile page, so people can confirm whether they are really talking to me or not.

In fact, I just posted a warning about this a couple of days ago:

I received a PM from a new member this morning, asking if I was in communication with him on Telegram.  I was not, but the person he was communicating with was claiming to be me.  This scammer has been at it for at least a couple of years.  His "first name" is spelled exactly like my forum handle, but for the Telegram user name he's using a capitol "i" instead of an "l" in the word wolf, i.e. DireWoIfM14.  The scammer's profile picture is a photo of some hardware wallets that I recently posted for sale.

Here's his Telegram user info:

Code:
@DireWoIfM14
Id: 5256982660
First: DireWolfM14

Be diligent when using Telegram.  Do not trust anyone who approaches you out of the blue claiming to be me.  I will never do that, and you can be sure it's a scam!  My Telegram ID is posted on my profile page, copy it and paste into Telegram to contact me.  I've been under attack myself recently because I don't tolerate any Telegram shitfuckery here on the forum.

1403  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitlucy withdrawal problem, does this acceptable? on: June 15, 2022, 03:54:15 PM
... and the bitlucy website has been down for over 24 hours.  Maybe it's too early to call it an exit scam.  Or is it?

I've just checked and it's not down.

I know:

he announces that the site is back on line, but...

That's exactly my issue with this situation.  Let me explain:  When the site was down there was no point in tagging Royse777.  There was no risk of them taking more deposits which would later become unavailable withdrawals.  The fact that the site came back up, and Royse777 continues to promote it, while clients weren't allowed to withdraw puts BitLucy's scam level in 1xBit territory.  That's why I feel it's justified to leave that tag.  It seems like the site has no issue accepting deposits, but until they are issuing withdrawal requests I don't think anyone should make a deposit.  That's my justification for the red-tag.

And to yahoo62278's point, specifically:

Any actions like a negative can be edited or removed once issues are corrected and the website is working properly.

I've never been the type to etch my reviews in stone.  If things start working normally and everyone gets their withdrawals as expected my tag will be removed.

I'm going to follow Rikafip and SFR10 on this and I'm removing the avatar and text, it makes no sense for me neither to advertise nor to get paid for advertising something that does work 100%, bitlucy needs to fix the issues, needs to fix whatever is wrong with customer support and their one engine and then start a promotional campaign and an advertising one.

Thank you for posting here.  So far I know of BlackHatCoiner, Stompix, Rikafip, and SFR10 as members who voluntarily chose to stop promoting BitLucy.  Rather than punish those who haven't acted I think it's important to recognize those who do.

I've been reading up on it and yeah, Fuck PPR.  It's a silly addition really.  One of the things Drew Loftis mentions in that article is how the game doesn't differentiate between yards gained via passing or running, so why should fantasy football.  Clearly it has no affect on the game.  The point about first downs not being scored is a good one too, I would be in favor of that addition.
1405  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitlucy withdrawal problem, does this acceptable? on: June 15, 2022, 03:14:27 AM
Don't forget that many people are promoting same casino with avatars as well.
Make matters worse, if they are promoting a casino that is having withdrawal issues but is still accepting deposits - every promotion should be paused until they are able to run smoothly again.

In a perfect world that would be the way things would work.  These expectations can easily slip down the slope to become demands (at least by some.)  People are getting paid and I wouldn't expect too many to volunteer to pause their paycheck.  For these reasons I'm not a fan of tagging folks just for promoting a suspected scam.  Especially in this case; until a week ago this looked good to go since it was promoted by a reputable manager, launched signature and avatar campaigns, had a cool looking website.

Besides, if this goes really wrong they'll just not pay their avatar campaign participants, and that will sort things out on its own.
1406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 15, 2022, 02:20:11 AM
Some very interesting stats from last night I heard on my local radio station about the Golden State Warriors..

They are the first team in NBA history to miss 30 or more 3 pointers , shoot at least 15 fewer free throws than their opponent, have a rebound margin of minus -5 or worse and yet still win the game, regular season or post season.

Pretty crazy impressive stuff that just goes to show how good this Warriors team is.

It can be said about almost any sport; defense wins championships.  The Warriors defense is among the best in the league, which is how they've gotten to this point without having the best season or the best stats.  Steph curry had a horrible night; he's their most valuable player but only scored 16 points in game 5, despite being on the court for 37 minutes.  Most teams wouldn't be able to recover from that.  Let's face it, Steph won game 4 single handedly, scoring 40% of the Warriors total, but even that game couldn't have been won without a stout defense.  Even when the team has trouble scoring, they can still keep themselves in the game.

It's been a fun run, but I expect the Warriors to drop game 6.  The Celtics are just too strong at home, and their season is on the line.  Oh well, it'll be fun when GS wins the title at home.  Grin

1407  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitlucy withdrawal problem, does this acceptable? on: June 14, 2022, 09:08:44 PM
Sorry, but I don't consider this to be enough reason to give someone a negative feedback so early.

If the question was only about timing then I would agree with you, but it's not.  It's about actively promoting the site, attracting new clients (and deposits) while the current clientele are unable to withdraw.  How much time would be appropriate for this to continue?

If we are to discuss timing and whether it's too early or not; it's fair to point out this isn't an overnight glitch.  This has been an issue for over a week now.  Technical difficulties aside, they could have issued those withdrawals manually in that time.
1408  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitlucy withdrawal problem, does this acceptable? on: June 14, 2022, 05:33:17 PM
I'm sorry to be the one who has to do this, but I can't stand by in good conscience and let this continue.  I know this will be an unpopular move, but I also know it's the right thing to do.

Royse777 is acting as the representative of the new casino BitLucy, as has been demonstrated by his actions and suggested by his posts quoted in this thread.  He started the official BitLucy thread in the gambling board, and just made a post to address the site being down for the last 24 hours, and users denied withdrawals for the last week.  In that post he announces that the site is back on line, but to those who've been waiting for their withdrawals he offers this tidbit:

Those who had withdrawal problems and were complaining, please request withdrawal again. Wait for the withdrawals to be processed if it does not process in the given time then please fill out this form.

This does not give anyone clear indication of when they'll be allowed to withdraw their money.  I believe that until people are able to withdraw their funds, it is unsafe to use this casino.  Yet Royse777 continues to promote it and has demonstrated little concern for those waiting for a withdrawal.

This post will serve as a reference to the tag until the issues with withdrawals are resolved.
1409  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What software exists to run a CoinJoin server? [Wasabi debacle] on: June 14, 2022, 04:49:32 PM
The problem here is that other wallets will follow Wasabi's precedent, also voluntarily.

But again, does that really matter?  There are always going to those who try to avoid taint.  You'll know them IRL because they put on latex gloves when handling cash.

Sure, we could just use mixers and that would be the end of it, but we are trying to discourage this trend by demonstrating that actions hostile to the bitcoin community will be punished.

I wouldn't be so naive to believe that a that a mixer couldn't be in cahoots with the government.  And again, how would we know?  Mixers are centralized services.  Any privacy, anonymity, and most importantly, safety that you get from a mixer is purely assumed.  We must trust that the mixer will provide the services as promised.  With the exception of privacy, there is no way to verify and validate the results.

I feel like I've written this word about 600 times over the past few days...

Okay, okay, JoinMarket, I got it.  Wink

I'll look into it, do my own research.  Thank you.
1410  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: June 14, 2022, 03:58:21 PM
That would actually be a lot of fun, Turkey is on my bucket list.  The next time I visit family in the middle east I'll be stopping in Istanbul for a few days.
How it started, it will soon grow to be, travel around the world with Sportsbet.

@sportsbet.io
I see some new interesting marketing opportunities here for guys. Simply get a hold of some airline company and agree on free flight tickets as a part of the deal along with green planes and Sportsbet.io writing in big shinny letters under the wings.

Why stop at marketing?  Sportsbet should just start their own full blown Football Travel Service!  Let's start with an airline.  Just imagine it; Sportsbet.io branded peanuts with the Southampton crest, bitcoin symbol emblazoned on the stroopwaffles, LN payments for Scotch, unlimited streaming of Arsenal wins.  It would be the best airline.  Ever.

1411  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitlucy withdrawal problem, does this acceptable? on: June 14, 2022, 03:28:27 PM
It's been three days since Royse777 made that excuse-filled post that offered no solution, no accountability, and no responsibility for this situation.  Given Royse777's popularity and his services I can understand why a lot of you are reluctant to criticize him, especially those of you who've helped promote his services in the past.

But, this is not looking good.  The clients of that casino are still waiting for their withdrawals, and the bitlucy website has been down for over 24 hours.  Maybe it's too early to call it an exit scam.  Or is it?
1412  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 - Main sponsor of Southampton FC 👋👋 on: June 14, 2022, 03:18:03 PM
Congrats to the Sportsbet.io team on their anniversary.  Great job, guys.  It's a privilege to have you here.

Wen Sao Paolo meetup?

I know, right?

~

Okay, fine, when Istanbul meetup?

That would actually be a lot of fun, Turkey is on my bucket list.  The next time I visit family in the middle east I'll be stopping in Istanbul for a few days.
1413  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitLucy.com 🎰 200% deposit bonus, 🕡 valid for 48 hours! on: June 14, 2022, 03:07:17 PM
Making posts here on their website gives you absolutely no advantage at all, doesn't make any sense neither.

There's noting wrong with discussing this here.  This is Bitlucy's service thread, and if people are having issues with their service it's perfectly acceptable to bring it up here.  If this casino turns out to be a scam then this is the best place to discuss that too.  People need to be made aware of what kind of service they're about to use...  Or not.
1414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA Finals 2022 - Warriors vs Celtics. on: June 14, 2022, 02:37:37 PM
How about Jordan Pool last night?  14 minutes on the court, 14 points on the board.  Not a bad outing.  It was nice to see the rest of the team step up with Curry having an off night.  Wiggins and Thomson looked great, and Green was a monster on defense.

Thursday is going to be fun, but I expect the Celtics to come out swinging on their home court.  Losing at home in game six will not be an option, and honestly I'm being a bit greedy here.  I would love noting more than to see the Warriors win game 7 at home.  Story book ending.

This is a misuse of trust

Asking others to consider the evidence against you, and tag you if they feel it's accurate is not misuse of the trust system.

If he were to do something really stupid, like create six newbie accounts to spam your trust page, now that would be misuse of the trust system.  But that didn't happen did it?  In fact, somebody created six newbie accounts to spam his trust page.  What kind of drama queen would do such a thing?

This sounds too much like a soap opera.  Any dispute between two members needs to be resolved by those two members.  Trust is not managed by the moderators, so one can do anything about it except the person who left the review.  No one is going to tag Kavelj22 for being rude, that would also be a misuse of the trust system.  If Kavelj22 is leaving trust ratings that have no supporting evidence, the community will notice and very likely remove him from trust inclusions.  Regardless, he's not in DT so his reviews don't show up as "Trusted."

1416  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What software exists to run a CoinJoin server? [Wasabi debacle] on: June 14, 2022, 12:21:56 AM
Makes me wonder if that is part of the problem. If you have to put some of your own BTC on the line and since a large amount of the funds for their coordinator did come from Wasabi themselves if they found themselves in a financial hole. And as much as we would like to think we are all good people and would donate to the cause we know that is not the case. Not defending what they did, just putting it out there to think about.
IMO if the problem is only money, they could increase coordinator fee or launch aggressive donation campaign.
o_e_l_e_o mentioned that it's a problem of not enough outputs, but this can be solved by forking Wasabi Wallet, getting enough developers and contributors behind it, change its name, branding and website, and launch an aggressive advertising campaign to get Wasabi users to switch to a truly private wallet. Then the problem would be reduced to a purely funding one as you have described.

Is it really worth the effort?  I mean if privacy and anonymity are the goals, aren't there better options than CoinJoin?  In the other thread n0nce mentioned one could even code in an easier way to add coinjoin coordinators, so you could even have a whole list to choose from.  Even if you had a whole list of coordinators, they are each a centralized entity which requires trust in those entities.  Wasabi told us they're using BCA, what's to prevent another coordinator from pretending they're not.  Would we know?
1417  Other / Archival / Re: Announcing Wasabi Wallet 2.0 on: June 13, 2022, 11:55:22 PM
I don't think it is or claims to be decentralized. They just claim to be trustless and anonymous, but nothing about decentralization, to their credit.

I just had a look at their website again, and you're absolutely right.  They do mention non-custodial which is true, and the trustless part is technologically over my head.  It is open source and I trust the community, for what that's worth.  I don't remember exactly what it was about the wallet that turned me off, but something about it did creep me out.  Maybe it was fear of taint, lol!  I was much "younger" then, and I'm not afraid to admit that it may have crossed my mind.  I've read through this thread, and I can't help but agree with you and the like-minded-others on the issue, however.

Any attempt to avert tainted coins does a dis-service to privacy and anonymity for all of us, and will play into the governments hands.  The end goal is to blacklist all bitcoin UTXOs that can't be confirmed by BCA as having been thoroughly taxed.

Funny thing about this quote you posted (emphases mine.)

Wasabi creates trustless coinjoin transactions over the Tor anonymity network.  The coinjoin coordinator cannot steal from, nor breach the privacy of the participants.

Half of the bolded sentence, if not patently false, it's intentionally misleading.  I guess one could argue that if they're blacklisted they're not "participants."

I haven't used Wasabi Wallet for a couple of years, so I largely ignored this thread.  @n0nce, no the irony of the thread title didn't escape me, but I didn't know why until I just got caught up on what's going on.  One of the reasons I didn't use Wasabi for long was that I didn't trust it.  Maybe it was due to my ignorance, I still don't know exactly how CoinJoin is decentralized, and I'm not comfortable with claims that it is.  Maybe I'm missing something.

What I don't understand about this whole debacle is why zxsnacks is the only viable coordinator.  If it's a decentralized service wouldn't some other coordinator owned by a Russian mafioso running on a VPS out of Curaçao just start getting the majority of join requests?  Why is a wallet that claims to be "decentralized" locking it's users into one CENTRAL join providor?

I'm not talking about this at all. And the fact that the amount of income of creditors is completely inconsistent with any bank in any country. Accordingly, if the creditor makes a mistake once, he loses a very significant amount incomparable with the losses of the bank.
