1661  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why do you mine on deepbit? on: March 05, 2012, 03:41:49 PM
Over the past 9 months, I have test-mined at well over a dozen pools...many 'top-tier' and some not so much, but regardless of what they boast as being their strong suit, or what sets their specific pool apart from the rest, 99% of them end up on the FAIL list having been nothing but a waste of time and I find myself returning back to the first pool I ever mined at as well - BTCGuild (although Slush's pool is a close 2nd for very similar reasons as listed below).

Say what you will about fees (blah blah blah....) BTCGuild is worth every bitcent that it costs to mine there.

Why I like BTCGuild:
- Good Control Panel/Front End (just the right balance of eye candy and functionality).
- Top Notch Security Features (anyone here is welcome to have my control panel password because the ONLY thing you can do is mine for me....my funds are locked SOLID).
- Instant Payouts (no confirmation delays).
- ROCK SOLID performance (the best I have experienced in the community to date, although YMMV).
- Attentive and knowledgeable Pool OP.
- Constantly moving forward with both hardware and software upgrades.

Unfortunately the best things in life are not free and often more times than not, you always get what you pay for.

I bet the bulk of Deepbit's Russian/Eastern Euro Miners feel the same way about Tycho's pool Wink
1662  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Sub>1,000W Power Supplies capable of 90% or greater output on 12V+ on: March 04, 2012, 08:19:41 PM

A warning.  It is rated at up to 38A per rail but only ~54A combined on 12V rails.

They just aren't as clear as some other suppliers.

I wish I could find the link to the review of one of these that initially got me interested in them for mining.

If memory serves me, the reviewer was able to draw a CLEAN 750W+ from the 12V before any rippling/fluctuations of any kind. Again, if memory serves, the protection circuitry kicked in shortly after that......but it was CLEAN power up to that point.
In my books, that's pretty decent for a 650W Power Supply Wink
1663  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer - web monitor beta v0.5 [switch pools all rigs] on: March 04, 2012, 07:39:44 PM
I love this script and how easy you have made it to customize it in the process.

I honestly can't think of another feature I would want........

As gay as inline-frames are, I am running mine setup with a 'top' master navigation frame that displays either my stripped down 'user mode' with a faster page update and no GPU controls, for monitoring only (and pool switching), then an 'Admin' mode that has GPU controls, the Dump and no automatic page update.

I also forgot to mention, I changed the TEMP display warnings.
70-73C = BOLD BLACK, 74-77C = BOLD RED, 78C+ = RED BOX BOLD RED.....no lines for me anymore unfortunately....lol

This script has done everything I needed it to...and more.

Thanks again.

Lastly, while I am waiting for help......

If anyone would like a copy of the custom version of Jim's script that I am running in the pic above, I am willing to send it but I would like to see Jim get some donations first.
I want nothing.
I have quoted his Bitcoin address from his sig above and feel free to double check it against his actual sig for yourself.

Obviously he has spent alot of time on this and as far as I know, has received nothing.
This has been a huge learning experience for me, as Jim's coding style and layout are easy to follow and learn from.....I thank him for that.

If you are interested, post TX proof and your email address and I will forward a ZIP file.

**WORKS BEST (what I have done to it) in either CHROME (I use Chrome) or FIREFOX. IE sucks and misses most of the formatting tags.
1665  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGminer - web monitor beta v0.5 [switch pools all rigs] on: March 04, 2012, 01:50:45 AM
Hey Jim.....(sorry in advance....LOL)

Is there any way that the 'DUMP' could be made to open in an address-bar-less small Pop-Up window rather than the in-page Toggle ?
(I don't know how to code it....sorry)

I have moved onto V0.5 Beta and an using a 30sec Page Reload (not Refresh) which makes the Dump difficult to read if not a speed reader...lol

Is this possible ?

For now, I have removed the hyper-link for the Dump and here is where I am at with styling for the version that I am using:

Title - CGMiner Web Monitor - Beta v0.5 Custom

- Entire layout/script center of page.
- Github style buttons.
- Misc CSS/layout/formatting.
- Misc re-naming/tagging.
- 30sec Javascript Page ReLoad
- Misc stuff ?
- Removed editable regions from main file into includes/user.php for all miner/bitcoin/time zone info to be updated.
- Moved all STYLE into a master css file. Main 'index/miners.php' contains NO editable regions for everyday use.

Lastly, could you please get a Copyright header/file ready, so that I can paste it into all your files please ?
(I am not going to add my own info anywhere, I simply want to ensure that all credit goes to you for this kickass script)

example...
Code:
// Copyright (c) 2009-2010 Satoshi Nakamoto
// Copyright (c) 2009-2012 The Bitcoin Developers
// Distributed under the MIT/X11 software license, see the accompanying
// file license.txt or http://www.opensource.org/licenses/mit-license.php.
// Bitcoin donation address - xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks again for all your previous (and hopefully future...lol) HELP Wink

Pirate, would you mind replying to my PM please.

C'est le ton qui fait la musique...  Roll Eyes

I know....after re-reading it, it seems that the 'tone' might be a bit 'off' being read by some.
Internet + Tone = hit & miss....lol

I should have posted "Pirate, could you have a look at the last PM I sent to you, please ?"

Lesson of the day....I should fully wake up before typing/sending messages...lol

Thank you for bringing that to my attention Wink

1668  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Sub>1,000W Power Supplies capable of 90% or greater output on 12V+ on: March 03, 2012, 10:57:19 AM
For those of us that use 2 or more power supplies per miner, it would be a good idea to get as many options for those interested in doing the same all in 1 place.

For instance:
I am a big fan of the Antec 650W EarthPower Green power supplies, as they are not only 80+ efficiency rated (88% I believe), they are also capable of providing 100% of TOTAL rated power on the 12V rail(s) alone.
It's actually a 2 rail PSU rated @ 38A per Rail (and unless my math is not up to par, that's 912W of peak power combined on the 12V rails alone).
A definite THUMBS UP! from me.

My BAD experiences:
Anything from Sparkle Power, as they seem to be a bit weak on the 12V and seem more CPU/HDD oriented, although many are 80+ rated.
Great for Servers, terrible for gaming PCs (LOL...I use them exclusively on all my server builds...)

Feel free to add to the list and try to provide a pic of the label if possible.

Cheers,
bitlane

or....
80 BTC including shipping to USA/Canada - 2x Asus Cards
----------------------------------------------------------------

Each pair of cards was purchased together, so that they could be re-sold as a matched pair for Crossfire use, if a Gamer were to purchase them.
They are all approx 6 months old and although mined with, have never been overvolted and I have been careful to maintain temps under 70c and fans well under 85% on a full time basis, being controled by CGMiner's auto-fan function (40-45% typical for the Asus cards, 60-80% typical for the XFX cards as they are single fan). All 4 are currently mining as I post this and can be ready to ship same day if sold early enough to ship during the day.

Shipping from Calgary, Canada.

LOCAL PICKUP IS WELCOMED (discount for local pickup).
Feel free to email or PM me with any questions.
If you are local, PM me for my telephone number and we can chat.

Just throw up a nuch of 'Seti@Home' and 'Folding@Home' banners up on the front page and that should be enough to throw them (Paypal) off....lol
They love that kinda stuff and GPU's are used for 'em Wink
1671  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: March 03, 2012, 05:43:34 AM
Update

We'll begin accepting Dwolla and MtGox codes on the site soon but we've been asked by a few people to start manually processing payments for purchases.

Since GPUMAX as a whole doesn't make any reference to Bitcoin (on it's website) would you consider using Paypal for Canadian orders (for trusted/verified members) ?
I know that Paypal simply hates Bitcoin, but if an invoice such as 'GPU RENTAL' were to be paid to GPUMAX, would it help to create less 'buzz' to keep off of Paypal's radar ?

Dwolla isn't available to Canadians and I can't think of another payment processor off the top of my head that would be easier than Paypal under the right circumstances.

Obviously a straight Credit Card payment would also work for many and would probably even be preferable over Paypal.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed already, so if it has and has been rejected, I apologize for make reference to it again.
1672  Other / Off-topic / Re: Custom Notebooks - Online shopping in Canada on: March 03, 2012, 03:38:36 AM
Eurocom is in Canada, and they make some of the most outrageously powerful laptops ever. I have one that weighs 12 lbs, has 12 GB of RAM, 1 SSD, 2 HDDs in RAID 0, and an i7-980X desktop processor.

Note, they will screw you on price unless you call them up and jew them down. Good hardware, several choices.

For myself, I wouldn't hesitate....but I simply can not bring myself to ordering an off-brand for a client.
1673  Other / Off-topic / Custom Notebooks - Online shopping in Canada on: March 03, 2012, 03:30:34 AM
My asshole is still sore after the order I was just forced to place for a client and the ONLY place I knew to use off the top of my head (and in a hurry) was Dell.ca unfortunately.

You would think that living in a city of well over 1 million people (and growing every day) that I would be able to find something locally, but alas, you simply can not.
The purchase of the day was to be a 'Drafting Workstation/Desktop Replacement'.

Granted, it was a pretty specific order, so armed with my credit card and a list of requirements from the client, I went shopping and no matter where I looked, there seemed to be only a single choice available.......a severely upgraded $2500+ Dell Precision M6600 Laptop.

My question is:
Can anyone point me in the direction of an online Supplier/Manufacturer that has the ease of use found on Dell's website along with the obvious choices for hardware etc ?

Can anyone comment on Lenovo, HP or any other Tier 1-ish establishment that COULD have worked for me and would work for future purchases of similar equipment ?

Linode confirmed that it was their fault, see bottom of pastebin.

So far it looks like superadmin account of Linode Manager leaked, which also explains why there was no login attempt to my account, although there was job for restart & password change.

Are they going to cover your losses ? This is a substantial amount of money involved.
1675  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5850 Reference WOES.... on: March 01, 2012, 03:56:45 PM
The latest version of CGMiner has pretty much fixed my 'sick card' problems right across the board.

All my Reference 5850's are flashed with 5870 BIOS's to get the little bit of extra voltage and higher base clock on the GPU.
I then use CGMiner to under clock the memory to 180Mhz and further overclocking of the CPU to 900-950+Mhz with auto-fan control and no need for any additional voltage control. Nice and easy.
1676  Economy / Lending / Re: [FUNDED] I need 150 BTC lended for 15 days on: March 01, 2012, 06:56:47 AM
Was the post in the video card thread supposed to be a joke ? ....I still don't understand it completely.

Great fantasy give me your dop i need this also.

so i´m Dexter , AniceInovation , Powercoiner

can somebody bit more?

Then Maged posted this:

Powercoiner == Dexter

I seriously hope the lender gets his funds returned as per agreement, because this would really suck if the above was not in fact a joke and truly was a confession.
1677  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I got my FPGA Mining Controller....how about you ? on: March 01, 2012, 05:56:37 AM
Really is nice to see 2.2 GH/s running on less 120 watts Smiley.

That is awesome. Much better than the usual 120W yielding 220 MH/s from a severely overclocked single 5770...lol

Which FPGAs are you running ?

Are my suggestions so stupid that they don't even get a response anymore ?

I think you hit the nail on the head....
Are you serious ?
I'd suggest you finish that comment with a happy face or an LOL before you make my shitlist, douchebag.

So.... to reiterate.

- You made a completely absurd suggestion that would only waste the finite resources of the gpumax team (2 people).
- You then called your own suggestion too stupid to be acknowledged.
- I agreed with you.
- Now you are upset with me.

Bitlane, please put me on your "shitlist" and call me names for agreeing with your statement about your own suggestion.

Hilarious.

Honestly, regardless of whether you are replying to me or not, I am just tired as hell with your FAN-BOI posts in this thread.

I can point to a number of instances where you 'Set people straight' when they comment on GPUMAX by telling them to 'LEAVE' etc.

I don't know if you are part of the GPUMAX 'team', but you clearly try to get brownie pts at every turn with some of your posts and frankly it makes you look ridiculous, not to mention you have a habit of stating the obvious.

I like the service, I like dealing with Pirate....anything else you are unclear about ?

Do me a favor and put me on IGNORE. Please don't reply to another one of my posts anywhere on this forum.
