16861  Economy / Services / Re: Offering FREE Escrow Service to build credentials on: January 18, 2014, 08:10:51 PM
The point of using an escrow is that you use a trusted middleman. At the moment you're not trusted, so it would defeat the purpose of using an escrow.
16862  Economy / Goods / Re: Laser Engraved Bitcoin/Litecoin Cards (Public ID and BIP38 encrypted cards) on: January 18, 2014, 08:07:06 PM
These look pretty good. I like the red one the best.

I'm looking to order a metal-based card in the near future, so I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Can a moderator create a vote for this topic please. Vote "Lets do it, or Nah I love manipulated markets"

You should be able to add a poll yourself.
16864  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: January 18, 2014, 07:52:00 PM
Hi all !

IMHO all alt coin is premine scam  Grin

Premine can be good, till a certain number. If the dev makes clear where the premine is used for and if it isn't a ridiculous amount you can safely say that it isn't a scam.

Then they should mine them themselves like everybody else, then they can choose to give them away or not. Pre-mining is unfair to the community and users regardless of what it's used for.

Speaking of rep, I'm still puzzled by the "Activity" icon next to a member's name. I haven't seen it on other forums before. I usually notice the number of posts they have made, not the activity. Does this mean that someone can log in for a year and have a high activity count but no posts?

No, you need to make posts for the activity to go up.

Thanks for clarifying. Smiley

You can find deets of the activity and member groups here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

Quote
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

Prepare for a barrage of referral links  Wink

Haha.

Honestly, the easiest way to earn coins is to rent out your signature space or sell shit on the forum marketplace here.

16868  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people think income tax is ok? on: January 18, 2014, 07:37:51 PM
To assume that taxation is the only solution to the problem is akin to shutting your mind off to looking for other possible solutions.

Too many people spouting that taxes are a necessary evil and not enough saying "isn't there a better way?" I challenge everyone to think outside the box.

I don't think people said it was the only way, but what's the better way, Mr Think Outside The Box?  Grin

SR is a nasty stain on Bitcoin's past.

In what way is it? If it wasn't for all the publicity Silk Road got BTC might not be where it is today.
16871  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Venture Capitalist Chris Dixon Believes Bitcoin Will Hit $100,000 on: January 18, 2014, 07:04:12 PM
Why compare the btc to the usd?

I've often thought this too - that we measure the precious relative to the very thing that fuels the very thing it was created to replace.

I suppose we have to seek value in some way, and as it is early days the USD will have to do. The more ubiquitous Bitcoin becomes commercially, the less we are likely to draw such a comparison.

Maybe one day the USD will be pegged to BTC.

Maybe the bankers who fuelled the demise of the USD will be pegged?

This kind of getting pegged?  Grin

I watched "The Internship" last night: you know, the one that was created to promote Googles products and services via the comic duo: Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

Did Vince Vaughn do his Vince Vaughn acting with His Vince Vaughn voice and his Vince Vaughn face?

Haha, look at his Vince Vaughn face.

Did Owen Wilson do His Owen Wilson acting? I bet together they make a hilarious team! Has anyone seen them both in "Some Sort of Disagreement"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JofDOQjHxP0

Another newbie post, moving to 5, sorry ! Cry

You only need one post consisting of several sentences. Making five short ones probably wont cut it.
