No different then taking a loan against your BTC from some of the larger places that do it online.
The biggest issue I see is regulation and price volatility and the rules that you are agreeing to when you do it.
I agree with you, I see this just as a way to overcomplicate something that already exists (borrowing online, or even on this very forum). What if the laws change and the other person, somehow, feels entitled to keep your BTC because they went up in price? Personally, I would never take such risk, too many grey areas. |

Guys, this is my first post here. After noticing your nickname I would say "welcome back to the past"  Bitcoin is something so extraordinary and beautiful that it managed to break the entire traditional system without turning back, it managed to remodel and change the whole human perception about capital. Today, knowing both worlds, it is the only currency that I trust, it is the only system that I trust and I will dedicate my life to carry this forward. Bitcoin forever.
Maybe in your future is actually like that, over here, for the moment, we're still at the first steps. Anyway it's pretty crazy the amount of things that happened in the last years, I feel like the price right now is very underestimated, those who are still out have a huge opportunity to jump in. Si è sempre saputo che coin come Monero e compagnia erano scomode, e prima o poi questo momento sarebbe arrivato. Per assurdo potrebbero perfino acquistare più valore sul lungo periodo, così come spesso accade altre cose che vengono vietate. Io ho qualcosina di Monero, credo che li terrò correndo il rischio che potenzialmente possano andare a 0. Si però spero che siano su un wallet e non su un cex altrimenti quando verrano delistate corri il rischio di non riuscire a recuperarli. I decentralizzati non li ho mai usati ma c'è abbastanza liquidità per fare il pair? Come ti dicevo la mia quantità di Monero è minima, e fino a poche ore fa li avevo su Binance perché offrivano un minimo di interessi, in ogni caso li ho prelevati e sono arrivati nel giro di 10-15 minuti credo, nessun problema a livello di prelievi insomma. Non vedo il problema dei DEX, se tutti gli exchange li rimuoveranno allora il mercato semplicemente si sposterà lì, ci sarà sempre qualcuno interessato. Lo stesso discorso vale anche per Decred. |

This period do not encourage trading or investment but at the same time when price is down is good opportunity to buy cheap and when its explode you will gain it. Nothing is lost in bitcoin, those holding for long now are the great benefactors but if you buy this period is more safer.
If I have money now, I would buy half of bitcoin because in next three months it will double the current price. This is real because it always occur this way after 5 years remember in 2011 and 2017 from the market charts and caps. And this year will break more even.
You started this thread on March 21, bitcoin price that day was approx $28k, now the 3 months have almost passed and BTC price is approx $30,500. Your prediction didn't even get close but considering all the FUD we had in the last months I am super happy to see BTC at the current value, to be honest I would have expected BTC below $30k at this point. For sure Blackrock's spot ETF is playing a big part in the recent pump. |

P.S.S. I am aware of Satoshi's view on this "lost coins are a donation to everyone". Yes, but 4 million is a lot, do we want Bitcoin to still be used 1000 years from now? If this trend continues most if not all bitcoins would have been lost by then.
With all the stuff that are happening around the world it will be a miracle if our nephews will be able to live a normal life and you're worrying about bitcoin being used or not in 1,000 years? For all what we know bitcoin may be obsolete in 10 years, who knows, everything is possible. I believe in bitcoin but you are definitely worrying too much. As the contest hit some hard limits on the discord platform (Cyrus had to open three different voting channels) and soft limits (a Bitcointalk contest where users outside the forum are allowed to vote without even ever landing on the forum itself is a weird way to promote the forum), I think it’s time to take this contest fully back into the forum.
I totally agree with @fillippone, the competition for sure would benefit from some changes and improvements, it became very popular so it's harder to manage and we should try avoiding any kind of cheat. Besides all above suggestions @fillippone just came up with another very interesting idea in the Italian section, which would be the anonymous submission in order to avoid people voting a certain pizza just because the user who made is "popular". I second that and I was also suggesting that the participants should take one picture with their username and one without so the winner(s) can later submit the same picture but this time with their username tag to confirm they actually made that pizza. |

According to evolution of money, trade was first done with the barter system, then it evolved to commodity money using Gold and it's kind,then into metal coins then paper money, later transactions where done with plastic cards, before it's evolved into electronic money and now crypto currency.
About years ago El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender and there are speculations that other countries would also adopt it in the nearest future now my question is, with bitcoin being the leading crypto currency is there a tendency that it would become the generally used currency worldwide? I feel like we're going in the right direction but it won't be quick nor easy, that's for sure. First of all bitcoin need more mass adoption and less volatility to be widely accepted as currency. Anyway I don't think it'll ever replace fiat currencies, probably it will be another option, which would be great anyway, that is for sure! Let's hope that other countries will follow El Salvador. |

Presente! Si ho capito a cosa ti riferisci. E c’è sempre la possibilità che questi concorsi si trasformino in un “concorso di popolarità”. Piuttosto l’idea sarebbe di avere delle entry anonime. Ognuno le invia all’organizzatore, che le inserisce in una gallery con un numero, o una parola del dizionario bitcoin o non so cosa. Un questo modo la pizza non è (facilmente) riconducibile al creatore e si voterebbero le pizze. Mi pare un po’ difficile, poi si avrebbero altri effetti secondari indesiderati (non si potrebbero inserire i talloncini con il nome, ad esempio, rendendo ancora più fecola la falsificazione. Il sistema perfetto non esiste, si tratta sempre di conciliare diverse esigenze. Interessante l'idea delle pizze anonime, mi piace! Riguardo il discorso del talloncino direi che si potrebbero inviare foto della pizza senza (ovviamente) e poi il vincitore (o vincitori) dovrebbero inviare sul forum come prova la stessa foto (preparazione e pizza finale) con il talloncino, quindi alla fine basterebbe scattare due foto della pizza finale, una con e l'altra senza, tutto qui. Secondo me in questo modo si dovrebbe evitare il problema dei cheater. |

The best thing would be buying something every month, in that way you can get an average price. The crypto world is changing, and it's changing quickly, so I don't know how much you can trust info from 3-4 years ago or even more. Now there is a country that adopted BTC, there are ETFs that are probably going to be approved, all things that before last halving were hard even to imagine... Don't try to buy at the bottom, it's pretty much impossible, if you're happy with the price just go otherwise you're going to end like those who are still waiting BTC at $5k... |

I've studied most Bitcoin investors, those who have money to invest are the ones going around looking for someone to teach them how to invest, the first thing they want to learn is how to use the exchange to make purchases using Fiat on the exchange, they are always in hurry, they have no time.
Mmm not sure what kind of rich bitcoin investors you've studied (whatever that means) but in that case I just wonder how those people made that money: rich people with a brain know that you don't become rich overnight, just look at Warren Buffet net worth how increased after years and years. Maybe you're talking about people who inherited money, so for them everything looks easy? Also because I really don't understand who and why you should pay to teach you how to use an exchange, even a kid would be able to use an exchange... |

I am this close to making double of my money yesterday when I looked at my Bitcoin wallet, this was the Bitcoin I bought at 17k with two acres of farm lands I sold in 2022, I still feel very happy right now because of my decision, I believe that some risks are worth taking and mine is paying off, some people tried to talk me out of this, if I have keep the lands yes it could grow big in future, but the fastest growth of Bitcoin is far more enticing for me.
I am not trying to tell anyone to sell their properties to buy Butcoin, I have more lands that's why I am able to sell for Bitcoin, I think it's wrong having a land or two and sell because of Bitcoin, but if you have more, it's going to worth the risk, nothing grows insanely well like bitcoin does.
I am excited to see how 2024 and 2025 will play out, tell me, is anyone taking such risks with Bitcoin investment? Do you think I went too far selling something as valuable as lands?
Based on your post I can understand you own several land plots, you didn't sell the only ones you had so of course it's a big risk but not as big as the risks that other people took. You can see that as diversification, if you didn't need those lands then why not selling them and buying bitcoin? Especially if you bought at $17k, that's a price that we may not see ever again... |

Children love to lean new things and that's why the world today is modernized, how will you feel if your younger ones teach their parents or tell them about Bitcoin that will be great right? So I don't see anything wrong with teaching or telling children about Bitcoin.
If I own a school today I will approve a Bitcoin subject in my school.
With the rate at which the number of Bitcoin users is increasing day by day, it seems that we will soon see that Bitcoin will be written on the pages of books. But for this, Bitcoin must be legalized in almost all countries. Bitcoin is still banned in many countries.But even after the ban, people in those countries are using bitcoin and trying to change their own destiny with bitcoin. I think they have managed to change their own destiny with bitcoin. But for me, it doesn't need to be written on the books, people found it already in the internet. And with the current trend that we are living more on the internet and computer, that was easier for us to access and learn Bitcoin. What we just need is time and someone who would have the passion to educate those who wanted to learn. And talking about teaching this is kids, I hope we get the point that Bitcoin is suitable only for those who are capable enough to learn where kids are not. Let them have time to play and enjoy learning in school rather than feeding them with this stressful Bitcoin investment. You can find literally everything on internet but that doesn't mean that someone will actually look for it, somehow you need to be jumpstarted about a certain topic. I see that with my friends, we're not kids, and every time I try to talk about economics etc I can see how they know nothing. I mean, I am no expert but I have at least the basic knowledge of how some things work, they don't, and it looks like they just don't care at all but then they complain about their financial problems... |

Bitcoin nasce come sistema per eliminare gli intermediari e rendere ogni persona la banca di se stesso.
SoV ed insieme moneta da utilizzare, ecc.. Gli intermediari li puoi eliminare una volta che ti sei procurato i bitcoin e allora non ne avrai più bisogno altrimenti c'è sempre il problema del primo passo: dove e come compro questi bitcoin? Io personalmente non mi fiderei mai a comprarli per la strada, ora ci sono anche i DEX ma solamente 5 anni fa non esistevano quindi qualche compromesso andava fatto tra commissioni e sicurezza, ognuno ha la sua preferenza. La questione BlackRock o di altri operatori e/o di vari strumenti derivati di Bitcoin, fa riaffiorare il problema, quel che era uscito dalla porta, rientra dalla finestra... abbiamo un altro candidato a diventare intermediario che cercherà di guadagnare non facendo un bel niente ( o quasi ), BlackRock non si assumerà nessun rischio diretto sul.prodotto che conterrà bitcoin, pretenderà solo delle commissioni in dollari per la gestione ( a proposito, in che valuta le vuole pagate queste commissioni ... ? vile e antiquato biglietto verde... ).
BlackRock prenderà dei bitcoin, se dei clienti li richiederanno, li mette in un contenitore e poi emette quote rappresentative del valore della scatola, collegate al valore/contenuto della scatola stessa

Se tu a BlackRock gli dai $ 10 per comprare una quota di un ETF che contiene titoli azionari sui semiconduttori, loro se li prendono e comprano $ 10 relativi.
Per la gestione ti chiedono 0,... % qualcosa.
Diversamente da un gestore patrimoniale non suggerisce né cosa comprare/vendere né quando, né quanto. Forse agli occhi di un italiano, o europeo o perfino asiatico, tutto ciò non ha molto senso ma da quando vivo negli USA ho imparato una cosa, ovvero che l'americano, che sia ricco o povero, ama una cosa: la comodità, il servizio, il dover fare il minimo possibile per ottenere qualcosa. Un esempio stupido ma che rende l'idea? I bicchieri per le bibite ai fast-food: normalmente ci sono 3 dimensioni diverse, costi diversi, e refill gratis per tutti. Ora, se io mangio al fast-food e posso riempire il mio bicchiere gratuitamente tutte le volte che voglio perché mai dovrei pagare di più per il bicchiere più grosso? Perché mi permette di alzarmi meno volte per andare a riempirlo, ecco perché! Pago di più ma faccio meno sforzo. Vogliamo parlare dei drive-thru? A me piace andare di tanto in tanto da In-n-Out e noto che ci sono sempre code pazzesche per il drive-thru, perché? Perché la gente preferisce stare seduta in macchina con l'aria condizionata piuttosto che fare lo sforzo di parcheggiare, scendere dall'auto e stare in fila all'interno del negozio. Questo ETF è perfetto per tutti coloro che non hanno assolutamente voglia di perdere mezzo secondo per capire dove e come potrebbero comprare BTC. Magari ti chiedono pure commissioni alte? E vabbè, è un servizio, che problema c'è? Un ETF solo su BTC non lo metterei sullo stesso livello di altri ETF "misti" perché comunque stai anche pagando per un servizio di bilanciamento e acquisto di decine se non centinaia di azioni. |

Direi che va benissimo, copre praticamente tutti i punti, o meglio, problemi, che sono stati riscontrati quest'anno e non mi pare che lasci spazio alla possibilità di barare e/o di inviare piatti di pietanze che sono tutto all'infuori di una pizza. Mi piace molto l'idea della citazione del dizionario almeno nessuno può controbattere. |
