I like the modified look of the wallet. It will be really good to have some distinctive graphics with a upgraded wallet.

Also, from the poll it seems you are approved by the community.. I will leave it open for a few more days.
2082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | No Premine | DGW | ASIC Resistant on: March 19, 2014, 12:40:27 AM
I keep on scanning the announcements threads looking for new innovative coins but I honestly cannot find a single one since DarkCoin. Nothing but clones, scams and bizarro 50% premine 'country coins'. Nothing else offers anything new or any promise beyond Bitcoin. I wish all the other 'developers' would just give up and stop diluting the market. How much longer will people fall for these??!!

Don't worry about it. Now the method and code is so widely spread, there will always be thousands of new coins every year. A very few may well be innovative: it's a democratic marketplace, and there will be a way for the leaders to separate from the pack quite soon.

Since no one is donating for the faucet and one of your community members, "forgot" to send the 100K donation he offer for the faucet to be alive, can anyone sell me Q2C at very low price, Thank you!

Which faucet is that ?  Is it the one I sent 2 donations to a few days ago ?
The faucet already received 3032 in donations

I donated 25000, so must be a different one then
Yes it seems so

Please post the page with the faucet, then !

Hey everybody idk if you have been following Mintcoin but it appears that the high PoS interest rate might be destroying the coin, for the short term anyways, due to exchanges autoselling all their minted coins from their exchange wallets. Just something the ECC community might want to keep an eye on in the near future and something that might need to be addressed/circumvented somehow depending on how things play out.

Cheap supply from minted coins could be seen two ways. It is a positive for distributed holding.

I would counsel a bit of patience on the part of the QubitCoin community.

The most important element of a coin's future is the development team.

The Dev seems to have warned the community that he will be gone for a week or so to take care of personal affairs.

True, it has been a few weeks it seems, but choose your Dev as you would choose your husband/wife....

...with proper fore-thought and patience.

Not my place, but I figured I would offer a bit of caution regardless Grin

Yes indeed.

I have had another PM from a potential dev. Please can community comment on this...

...'' You seem to have made a choice already so good luck with that --- but if it doesn't work out, I'd be prepared to mind the store until krecu gets back and in the meantime, work with you+community to set up a more sustainable basis for engineering maintenance of the coin.

If you want to chat more, my email address is....''

I approve.. and I cannot see anyone against . Opened a poll here..The following speaks for the community, if agreed or disagreed, please post accordingly.

Straw poll on block reward checks out for no change. Will poll this after the first vote.

Goals : plenty on the old thread, but need restatement.

Funding:  Invite donations to start, and let's see who is serious. I will begin with 100k of Q2C, and another 100k in 1 month if it seems to me something is going on. If you have specific requirements, please make them known. This venture is not certain to make money, so you must be prepared to take some chance: on that score, you would be a full co-ordinator.

I will proof read documents if you alert me to them.

2092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Opportunity for a competent developer... on: March 18, 2014, 06:32:01 PM
Edited (removed previous info)

Community must decide 3 things:
Am I approved as dev? What if, tomorrow old dev appears (after forum, twitter, github, site and whatever changes)?
If so I want to be able to have full access to every community anchor (site, twitter, forum, etc). And yes I have no problem that someone else have same access level...

What is your final will about reward value and halving? I see miners and holders around... can they agree on a solution?
If so you/we must decide what are the goals... a bit far from being listed on next exchange platform...

Who will fund my efforts and what powers will you give me? Am I a rented coder able to speak to community or do you give me the authority to be also a full coordinator?
As said before I don't live on good vibes, approval or love. Even less when people are targeting on making money/coins.

Note 1: My first language is not english as you surely noticed. If you want me around you must be able to forgive my broken english. And when appropriate (I mean official posting) proof reading it.
Note 2: I thing branding is essential for cryptos. This is a first try on cosmetic side :

Any idea on raising the price?

It seems we suffer the cold Winter of altcoins.

Don't try to raise the price. Buy more if you believe, and if you are right, price will follow later.

Trying to raise price is what pump and dump speculators do.
2094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | No Premine | Hard Fork At 34140 (DGW) on: March 18, 2014, 02:19:50 PM
This argument about  early mined coins (although erronously called a 'premine') nearly destroyed QRK (and in that case , even though the mining took place over months, not days !)

The logic is inescapable, but there will always be people who argue about semantics.

The early holders will sell when they each feel it is time, and it will lower the price as well as add to wider ownership.

A temporary drop in the value is always the price paid for distribution.
2095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | No Premine | Hard Fork At 34140 (DGW) on: March 18, 2014, 01:32:41 PM
What would you suggest, the people who mined the first week should sell most of their coins so the price goes down and everyone else can buy cheap, and then it will rise to new heights?

Yes, the early holders should sell (dump) down to 1/10 of current price, then there would be wider distribution. Alternatively, they could give their coins away to attain wider ownership.  That will strengthen the coin.
2096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Opportunity for a competent developer... on: March 18, 2014, 01:28:32 PM
I must disagree with above block reward and block halving statement. You should not change anything. Everything works fine. If you change block reward to 2048 or 1024 90% of qubit holders will sell coins and go to another coin including me. I agree about wallet. Everything works fine currently we just need someone who will fix few thing, promote coin and just be active...there is no need for changing the code.
The present block reward do not incite miner to come : and good global hash rate is required for POW coin.
The popularity of a coin require a widespread distribution. Going back to something like 512 /block could help.

If you -the holders- were unwilling to accept some loss at first due to better block reward, I believe the coin would die ... and you would loose all at the end.

It's always a battle between miners (short term profit) and holders (long term faith and loyalty).

Miners are not all motivated by instant money (the ones that are cause coins to be wildly volatile and unstable), if they were, Bitcoin could never exist.
2097  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✦✦ ECCoin ✦✦ [ECC] ✦✦ Fair Mine Period ✦✦✦ Last 34 Days... on: March 18, 2014, 01:18:06 PM
What are things that make the worth of a coin rise?
And how is ECCoin planning on raising the price of ECC in the future?

Good question,
This every person can have a different answer. And all some of less true actually. Usually in life the winner is not the best one. (See Bitcoin slow and hurting our eco system more than any other crypto) Coin rises because there are buttons in people minds where they react. Some react on button being richer, some like its design, some likes the idea behind it (freeing from banks). Some do it just to taste how looks like owning it. There are many reasons as much as people. Some can have also bad intentions such as having a chance to cheat some people on exchanges, beating the other on prices etc.

It's like a raising baby, if it's supported well it grows. Here, support expected coming from it's community. Otherwise it'll lost in the forest! Coin total worth is accumulation of trust collected from people, some has 1 gr. some has 3 gr. so makes alltogether 1 kg or 2 kg in total and weighted in exchanges like that get the idea? Also some exchanges does not weight correctly :-) Because they don't have enough mix of trust collected from people.

ECCoin knows it's not perfect & plans to learn from his community and change the current eco system for his own needs. As long as its supported. ECC don't promise anywhere we will make you richer or prices soon 60 satoshies tomorrow! So we, more truly i, don't care raising prices but increasing value for people! No but kindly remind you and others, out there millions we can reach and get them learn what's about cryptos and look we have a new model eco friendly. Learn why and how cryptos benefiting users and the current world. How should be next type of cryptos. Or there is some effort here about something can be done better. We will try to increase features in ECC, how can i make it more decentralized, how to make it more user friendly, more social, more owned and liked etc...

ECCs main difference is not the technology or marketing it uses but the approach it has. Even this approach will lessen and lose power everyday because more and more people with the mind such as owning it early & being rich getting in the calculation. No matter what i say today but become tomorrow like that accumulated thoughts from you make ECC seems like this. Grin And what you see is truer not what i say...

Like raising a baby:

1. Genetics need to be ok to start. Lots of different ones are viable, but depends on how they will have to live their lives.

2. In infancy at the beginning maximum protection is needed. This lessens as the baby grows because it must interact with the world to grow.

3. When reaching childhood different safeguards are needed, and then genetics start to interact with environment.

4. In adulthood success depends on the complex mix of upbringing, education, growth and genetics, plus environment that is around every day.

(Bitcoin maybe high school 6th grade, Litecoin in kindergarten, a few coins, Doge Xpm, PPC starting to walk, but most still feeding from mother)

I have used other analogies about life and Darwinian evolution in my talks, as related to which coins will succeed.

This is just a Mintcoin clone

what is the difference?

Have to keep the ecc on the wallet to get the %

Very different form Mintcoin. Different % stake, diff days qualifying, diff block mining schedule (level 45 days, then cut to maintenance of 1) .

% stake tapers over 10 years, marketed to new demographic, Faster code.

Plenty more differences. Active dev and promo team ...Time will tell which is better.

hmm ok but 25% a year even mint is 20% seems too much
People adopt BC and his 1%
Btw ECC has its qualities and a good community may be interesting in short term

20% stake is maybe not enough.  When a Coin becomes PoS driven, it's survival depends on holders opening wallets. 2% is not going to do that. Forget the long term because, to paraphrase, we are all dead anyway. 1 to 2 year survival is what most coins will never achieve: you can see the mass extinction beginning already... PoS is where the next generation is going and it has not yet been fine tuned.

ECC has a good chance of being one that gets it right.

Active dev and promo team ...Time will tell which is better. All these variations act upon each other to magnify the difference.

+1  OK, I will agree with that. Change as little as possible, only what is needed... the code is the coin, and it is proven.
