"But Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide" says that you're taking pre-orders. What's going on ?" - Try to explain your convoluted BS to a newcomer.

Happy to.

I have compromise: Give us prefect score on not taking pre-orders, give us penalty on "unspecified under NDA dispute with Dogie"

First part: No
Second part: Maybe later
Overall: You can bitch and moan all you like but as companies time and time again have found out - I don't get strong-armed and I don't get paid off. You also seem to think that 92/100 is so damaging compared to 100/100 that its going to prevent sales/investment, yet your actions in here are probably doing 100x that. No one sees a CEO throwing a hissy fit on a forum and thinks "that's a company I want to give my money to".
2202  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain and ASICminer to save the day??? on: February 27, 2015, 03:14:01 AM
Now that we know that Spondoolies is in it for the Farms and they "might" do something
for Home Miners if they see a market for it.....

Will Bitmain or ASICminer swoop in to overtake that part of the Market??? There have been plenty
of signs they both have intentions in making something that will be released this year.

Why would Bitmain "swoop" to overtake a market they already are the leader in? And by a long way.

LOL

http://Blockchain.info/pools

KNCMiner surprisingly small, I thought they were going for it big style. And I wonder which slices Bitfury fits into?
2203  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Next consumer model miner on: February 27, 2015, 03:11:40 AM
Avalon4 chips are and have been open for 3rd parties since release. Spondoolies often opens their chips up but availability is a bit behind actual release. I'd assume if you can put in a big enough order that Bitfury might consider taking your money as well, even Bitmain.
You'd know better about Bitmain, could you quantify 'big enough order' in their case?

What would Bitmain take to hand off a couple dozen sample chips?

I didn't mean to get your hopes up, I have zero information on if they'd actually sell chips. What I meant about money is that the more you have, the more likely they're going to be to listen. There's a good chance they'll never release them though.

[I don't usually hang around here, just passing through].
2204  Other / Meta / Re: The Forum is Dying on: February 27, 2015, 03:05:20 AM
Not really sure what you are getting at. I am not even trying to debate whether it was a good or bad idea. My point is that increased registrations are a result of the removal of "newbie jail" and the corresponding farming of accounts, not because of genuine forum activity picking up.

I am sure it does have to do with the lack of newbie jail but that was removed a long time ago, over a year (?) now.

I am not in a debate too. Yes, you both are right but IMHO now newbies can go straight into the thing they want, Technical Support, Dev & Tech Discussion, Services etc... and yes they can start a scam too. They are like a coin with two sides, almost everything has both advantage and disadvantage.

    -MZ

And newbie jail didn't protect against that, it just delayed them a few days. I remember I graduated newbie jail pretty quickly.
2205  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: February 26, 2015, 11:38:10 PM
Apparently Bitmain is still recovering from the holiday.  Nothing new shipping yet.  Sad

Last news was about the pool : We are pleased to announce Antpool (antpool.com) which is open for users all around the world. BITMAIN has invested significant resources into developing a bitcoin pool based on the p2pool mining protocol. BITMAIN reaffirms its commitment to help decentralize the Bitcoin network, strengthen the Bitcoin eco-system and put the majority of hashing power into the hands of consumers.

That's from about 3 or 4 months ago.
2206  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: February 26, 2015, 11:37:39 PM
Thanks dogie I was thinking bitmain messed up Smiley
So they SD card slot is for restoring things if they go wrong?

Yes, but currently we don't have a solution on how to use it.
2207  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [February 2015] on: February 26, 2015, 11:34:05 PM
I've written endless times that we won't take preorders on our 3rd gen.

But by your own admission, you require additional funding in order to make that happen. So your business model hasn't yet been proven to be able to support non preorders. +many more NDA'ed things I want to say.
WTF it has to do with the fact that we don't take preorders now?
We have took preorders for over 4 months.

Your thread is misleading and hurt our business.

Quote from: dogie
Preorders?
Preorders are extremely bad for the industry and put all the financial risk on the buyer. This criterion does not act as a snapshot, but a longer term (both past and future) "does
this company engage in preorders". A company who's business model relies on preorders to fund development and new generations is still considered to utilise preorders even if
they intermediately sell some products from stock. Transitional scores may be used when companies have promised the exclusion of preorders but have yet to prove their business model can operate without them.

1) You're business model has not been proven to support non preorders
2) You're business model - by your own admission - can not support preorders without further investment... +NDA'ed stuff
3) Therefore until its proven [and in your case you raise investment], you get a transitional score.
What you don't say is that you changed your own criteria especially for us.
In October listing you didn't have them.
In December listing you add them.

What was the change? We stopped taking preorders.

Dogie, you're unethical hypocrate. I'm starting to think that you punish us because of our non related private dispute.

The criteria did not change, nor the way that I enforce it. In December I added more descriptive text to all the criterion so I didn't have to keep repeating myself throughout the thread - the descriptions act as an FAQ. For example I was asked what was company size about 20 times which you can search for in this thread.

Exactly what am I a hypocrite about?

I'm keeping my word. You keep trying to drag me into our private dispute.
I believe that it's another unetical behavior on your part.
You're misusing this thread for your own private agenda.

Our dispute is only private because you're hiding behind an NDA. The actual content of the dispute is actually very relevant to the thread because it highlights ethical attitudes. Still, its not yet represented in this thread at all.

At the same time, you're the one attempting to misuse this thread for your own [different to the 'private dispute'] agenda, which again I can't mention in detail because its behind an NDA. Am I wrong? There is no ulterior motive for you wanting your rating higher other than "it hurts sales"?
2208  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: February 26, 2015, 11:23:25 PM
okay got my S5's in today no SD cards are in the slots

these dont come with SD cards? or did bitmain mess up?

should i put one in?

if so how do i put a image on the SD card i got a few laying around and have download win32 disk imager and the image from bitmain

sorry this confuses me all my other miner have sd cards.

I knew these did not have a top on the case but they dont have a bottom either? WTF!!!!

These are a nightmare to fit into my current exhaust configuration, going to spend all evening making proper cases for these. Seriously bitmain could you go any cheaper? I am not impressed!!!!!

okay think i figured out how to do the image have to read the image first then write it Smiley
first time i just selected the image from location and pressed write. Now that i pressed read first then write is doing something Smiley

S5s don't use SD cards, just plug the S5 in.
2209  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [February 2015] on: February 26, 2015, 10:46:25 PM
I didn't "make you sign NDA". You didn't object signing the NDA.
We have private dispute which I don't see what it has to do with this thread., at all.

Stop BS-ing and fix our rating. If we'll take preorders again, change it immediately back.

In order to have the full information, I had to sign that NDA. And no you didn't force me to but I wouldn't have been doing my job if I didn't find out. What I am complaining about though is the terms of the NDA - that it doesn't expire and there is no reasonable clause to break it. I don't sign NDA's in that form any more.

And you're not willing to let me void it, right?
No.
I don't trust you at all. Our public dispute here demonstrate why.

And I should have never trusted that you'd keep your word, right?

Guy you're wasting your time. Unless you pay Dogie, he's not going to give you the same preferential treatment as Bitmain.
I know. Still, customers read this thread and get wrong information. It effects our business.
The right thing for Dogie to do is to give us the right score.
I've written endless times that we won't take preorders on our 3rd gen.

Guy you're wasting your time. Unless you pay Dogie, he's not going to give you the same preferential treatment as Bitmain.

And I provided preferential treatment how?

He is (implying a )threat you that if you keep asking about it he will lower your score on ethical. (Kinda shitty dogie, how about ethical stay based on how they treat customers and not how they post in your threads?)

That's not what I'm saying or implying. Refer you back to the NDA part and why I can't explain what I'm actually talking about in public.
Says more than I can figure.

No idea what that means
What it means is that you've set up NDA's about ratings and they're affecting what you can or do, since I have no more information than that just saying you have an NDA says more than I can figure. It could mean you're giving special treatment or they did wrong shit and you can't say it but I have no clue because you signed paperwork.

Ah right. tldr:

1) Guy made me sign an NDA, something I did so I could get the full information on why their preorder of SP30 went south in order to fairly rate them.
2) Unfortunately, that NDA has no expiry time nor any reasonable basis for me to break it.
3) That means that I can't release information on detailed explanations of some ratings without adding liability due to the presence of that NDA.

I would happily void that NDA if Guy would allow it, but I highly doubt he will.

Thank you for thw comparison.
It's gen3, not gen2.

You both have a transitional rating in that category, that's not saying you are BFL.
2216  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [February 2015] on: February 26, 2015, 10:00:40 PM
Updated to February 2015, lots of changes (see the notes here).
And again you unjustifiably mark as us with pre-orders.
It does seem a bit unfair, when Bitmain used pre-orders on the L1 and ethics for their hashnest price spikes when the btc prices raises.
It's true that BMT used pre-orders more recently than us, but I'm protesting OUR unjustifiable mark for the last 3 months.
Customers are getting WRONG data and we need to explain this BS to a lot of worried customers.

Don't get started on this again, we've been through this a billion times before. You're more likely to pick up an ethical infraction than have the preorder category prematurely changed.
Everytime you'll wrongly score us I'll post about it.
I don't understand the rest of your comment.

First part:
Nothing has changed since last time and it was discussed in detail then. The criteria for going to "No" was set out and you have not yet fulfilled it, and neither has BFL. Therefore the score remains the same until you release gen 2.
Second part:
I can't discuss it in public unless you void my NDA. I hate NDA's, I'm never signing one again in that form.

Gratz Dogie. Now Bick is going to like you for sure

Bick hates me regardless of what I do, I didn't invest in his company so now I'm a fraud.

What drugs you taking?

1TH
900 Watts
and $800 without shipping. HELLS NO.

Is that even a legit company?

Yes, that product was released in August of last year.

Would high discard numbers relative to another indicate a network problem?

How high is high? Difficulties the same? If by relative you mean to an entirely different mine somewhere else then it could be because of higher ping, but within the same installation its unlikely.

One has discards 100x higher than another.  103,395 versus 907 nine minutes after cgminer restart on both.

I'm first trying a clean up on its power line - switching a high speed switch wall wart to another line but I suspect the controller card.

After 5 minutes 57,666 discards versus 613.  I'll shut down and clean the controller card.

After cleaning the controller board with brake cleaner and blowing off with compressed air, running 5 minutes after cgminer restarts, 67,324 vs. 783.  Will try swapping controller board after I finish putting together a line filter for the router.

Are you able to just swap the network cables first? What effective hash rate is the pool reporting on each?
