Damn you! That was my guess. All I'm now left with is PinkiePie. But, since 'hand' and 'ass' were mentioned by psy, there still is another possibility. Hmmm!

Heh, I doubt that Atlas, who has significant Bitcoin holdings, is a bear Wink

I had to reread that a couple times to get the implied joke. Atlas is an alpaca! How close am I?

O.o

2502  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are you listening to? on: December 19, 2011, 05:14:11 AM
You'll be amazed when you see the hit count of this Bitcoin video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRrUmOYHc0w

Is that Atlas' actual youtube account!?

Because this was posted in the same account: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN3iFD2F7nI

Walls are starting to disappear... depth at far right has dropped about 8k BTC.

When I wake up, something better have happened! Smiley
2506  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kim Jong Il is dead. Will it have an impact on BTC prices? on: December 19, 2011, 03:49:23 AM
The only way this has an effect on prices is if KJI mentioned Bitcoin in his will Tongue

2508  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Stagflation on: December 19, 2011, 03:42:33 AM
In some 40-min intervals today, only 15 BTC was traded.  AFAIK that's a very low minimum!

24h volume just under 10k BTC, which is a small fraction of the normal volume (30-50k).

In other news, 30-day EMA is above $3.
2509  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Blast from the past! Mtgox: Promises and Reality on: December 19, 2011, 02:51:35 AM
it hasn't even been a year.

Please explain to me how something like margin trading takes more than a year.  In fact, mtgox was so slow that zhoutong went ahead and made Bitcoinica.

Now mtgox wants to reverse the effects of their incompetence by blocking Bitcoinica from timely withdrawals.

Everything will still work the same as always for the time being. But expect a lot of positive changes after he takes over including:
Automatic (and free) funding from Euro accounts.
Automatic ACH deposit and withdrawal.
Margin trading.
Interface redesign.
Lifting the $1000 a day withdrawal limit.

I'll leave you to decide how Mtgox is doing.

You know what's hilarious?  The majority of phishers don't even know how to spoof an email address properly, so they send from emails like "grnail.com."  This phisher is, ironically, one of the smarter ones. xD

If you make this change, I hope you don't make it too suddenly, and that you put it up to a vote.
Still, it's your business, so feel free to make the decision that seems best to you.

Note: In the future, if large price movements over one day occur, I might update this thread many times that day.

We last heard from JackH on October 29.  This does look very interesting to me.

JackH, do you have an update for us?  What, if anything, can any of us do to help?

He's been online recently... hope he gives us an update.  PM him?
2517  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis & other financial markets (bitcoinbullbear.com) on: December 18, 2011, 03:53:16 PM
You bulls are about to be disappointed!  We won't see any price movement until volume picks up in January.  Right now a lot of people are taking a break from speculation.

All you need is a computer (and maybe a bot) - it's not as if people go back to their families and discover they have no internet access. There is no holiday season on the internet.

This is not borne out by the record low volumes on bitcoincharts.

2519  Economy / Speculation / Re: This lack of volatility almost makes Bitcoin look... civilized on: December 18, 2011, 02:54:20 PM
Its as stable as this:

All it needs is a small push in either direction and then the speculation will take off again, because bitcoin is inherently instable, certainly the way its currently used (ie, hardly used, mostly hoarded and speculated with).

+1

+1 again.  We've seen metastability before Smiley
2520  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Looking for lenders on: December 18, 2011, 02:51:45 PM
i really hope you can have a real time system showing the available BTC storage plan.
Otherwise, what if two guys see you have 100BTC available space, and then both sent in at approximately the same time?

Depending on your account "age" (how long you have been a lender) I would send coins back to the newest account(s) to cover the difference.  This gives my early adopters the advantage while keeping my balances in check. Smiley

i'm saying this as an 'early adopter' but i think it would be fairer to base it on the age of each individual deposit, not the entire account.

if the first account only opened with 50 btc, and then you later accrued 10,000 btc from everyone else, then that very first account holder could just send 10,000 btc whenever he felt like it and force every single other investor out.

or let's say as an example i decided to deposit back that 600 btc i just withdrew... that would pretty much get rid of the last few newbies with only 50 btc on deposit.

awesome for me, but i'm just saying what i think would be fairer even though i'd be worse off.

oh also, if you switched to base it on the age of deposits, this would neatly discourage early adopters from withdrawing capital, because if they want to ever deposit it again, then that chunk of change would be at the back of the line again.

shh! don't give him ideas Smiley
