I'm 6'3"/255lbs with a big hat, and Alex is just a tad shorter than average height. I like that dude.

While in LV, I met up with Jay Shore of Coinabul, and even though we shock hands and had a civil conversation, I don't trust him one iota. He carries himself in person the same why he treats his customers on this board.

Don't know shit about Coinabul, so no comment there.

Alex is a great guy. He took me under his wing when I was a complete noob here, and was just plain fun to talk to. Sucks he's too busy for me these days Cheesy But I'm glad he got in with KNC. He earned it. I'm a bit concerned with where they're going these days, but I doubt that Alex is in on any wrongdoing.  I was too broke to get to LV, even though it's not that far from here (about a day's drive). Would have loved to meet both of you. Oh well, perhaps another time. May the Bitcoin rise mightily... in a bit over two weeks so I can still afford an Ant!

Maybe a program to get 3rd world communities access to mining rigs to help them grow and have more ppp? We do intend to be a world currency.

Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  yea, right. They need water, food, medical care and some quite possibly shelters. Like there is electricity everywhere, they sure need couple of mining rigs (in Africa etc.). Are you from ´Murica ?

Solar-powered rigs  Grin

Back to the idea of pushing EAC forward....

Of course. A bit of humour never hurts.

Anyway, the above wasn't entirely tongue in cheek, as a rig like that could provide quite a bit of useful electricity in the third world. (I hate that term, but I got nothing better). It's the kind of project that Earthcoin could potentially fund, as that sort of generator is pretty much a DIY project anyway, and well suited to remote areas.

But first we gotta get some real world value to the coin. In that, my erstwhile nemesis a few pages back was totally correct. To be useful to charities, the coin must be profitable and useable. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of ideas on how to do that. One thing I'd like to see is some sort of peer to peer exchange system that is NOT dependent on a central or controlled exchange site. Implementing that for crypto pairs seems like it would be easy, but how would you go about it for, say, EAC to USD? I think it could be done, but I don't have a clue how.

All those were you... In all those states... Ok...

Oh, and you are collecting funds for breast-cancer... in BTC... Smells like a scam... Show me the donation records... (Kidding, I don't even want to know.)

Keep up the good work. It is helping us get our miners faster, and aiding sooo many forum members make an informed decision. Too bad the forum is not the primary source of sales for AMT's miners. But keep fighting the good fight.

Need sleep again.

Since you are in Florida, I'll go say hi to your clone here. (Or split personality, whatever it is that lives here.)

It's call the Bitcoin 100 that I founded where all the donated bitcoins are stored, and I don't have any access to any of the coins. Only Rassah, probably the most trusted Bitcoiner on this board, and Roger Ver, in place ONLY as a backup in case Rassah is hit by the proverbial bus.

Here's the website that I built and pay for hosting, with the domain in edd's name, where one can see where all the bitcoins have gone: http://bitcoin100.org/charities/

Pretty transparent, eh? BTW, recently I paid Rassah outta my own pocket as appreciation for all he's done, and he does a helluva lot. Guess what he did with all them coins I gave him... He gave every last satoshi from the help desk at the Miami conference in January, mostly to newbies to let them give a feel for Bitcoin. Pretty amazing, eh?

Now that you got me started, I feel like bragging some more.

Prior to driving to the Las Vegas conference, I headed to Florida first to orchestrate the first even Thanksgiving at Satoshi Forest. Maybe you've heard of the place. Thanksgiving eve, I slept outside under a pile of blankets (now donated to the homeless) while the temperature was 29 degrees with a windchill of 21. On Thanksgiving Day, away from my family, I started the process to cook 6 turkeys underground, with all the trimmings, to feed the homeless around Pensacola, FL. I spent 7 days there, then hit the road to LV.

While in LV, this: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/e67-the-most-interesting-bitcoiner/

Here's me in Atlanta with Alex Lawn of KnC:

Here's me wrestling a 750lb bear:

...and this was where I came into the PG saga, reading about the bitcoin100 just days after making about .001 bitcoin on a gambling site. My very first bit of bitcoin, which I donated there because both PG and Rassah were involved. I assumed it was on the up and up. Back then, it wasn't worth more than maybe a buck or two, but it was all I had. A big part of why I defend you, you crazy fuck! LOL.

BTW, is Bitcoinorama that small or are you that big?

Just because an exchange is shutdown doesn't mean the currency is, have you ever see a dollar exchange center shutdown and dollar loses all it's value? no
well... in 1913 a dollar was worth 1/20th of an ounce of pure gold. Then they opened up this joint called the Federal Reserve. Now a dollar is worth less than the paper it's printed on...

However, bitcoin isn't a centrally controlled entity. If the coins are REALLY locked up, then the coin just got more valuable, as there will only ever be 21 million of 'em. Take away 800 grand from that total, and scarcity just got better. OTOH, if they were stolen, then they are still potentially in circulation. Sucks for Gox, damn their incompetent hides, and anyone who didn't read "mene, mene, tekel, uparshin" on their front page two years ago, but it's probably a net gain for Bitcoin. In either case. They have been a festering pustule on bitcoin for quite some time. I hear tales that they were once something great, but those days were past before I got involved a couple years back.

Me, I'm sittin' back and watching. Every time in the past when the price of bitcoin dropped like this, it came back to even greater heights. Now that Gox has declared bankruptcy, I consider the matter largely closed. Those who held coins in Gox got screwed. Sucks, but it is what it is. Some will possibly recover some damages in the disbursement of the court, but the community can now move on. I'm thinking the next peak will be 1500 USD, and it will be soon. Then it'll drop back to around a grand.

I ain't got no crystal ball, and that's just my opinion, but it is based on the observed pattern of bitcoin over the last approximately two years.
Agreed, but next peak will definitely be higher that $2000
I sincerely hope you're right Cheesy But for the sake of purchasing some miners, I hope it waits a couple weeks...

don't worry, the next up is coming in a few months not weeks Cheesy
it's good as long as it's coming Smiley
Again, I hope you're right. The rise to 1200 was quick, and the fall was sedate, until 6 percent of the supply got goxed. Still, the floor seems to be around 550. Coinbase is at 567 as I type this, and it has been bobbling around that all day. If it can stay there for about two weeks I can get a pair of Ants Cheesy If not, I can probably still get one. That'll put me at about 300 GH/s.
2606  Economy / Economics / Re: Technological unemployment is (almost) here on: March 01, 2014, 10:55:04 AM
There are simply no capitalist solutions for the technological unemployment problem. Period! [CUT]

Rephrased: there are simply no society based on saving (capitalist) able to conceive solutions for a problem (technological unemployment) that it will never face in free-market economy. We can conceive solutions for imaginary problems: a very good attitude, but not strictly necessary. Fortunately, for planned economies there exists capitalist solutions: bankruptcy solves technological unemployment caused by government intervention.

The real problem for socialist economies is that there are simply no economical solutions for the technological unemployment utopia. Period!

In our planned socialist economies we are often discussing their big-problems caused by big-failures of big-govs, big-banks, big-corps. In free-market capitalism failure is not a problem is the engine.

Damn you people capable of brevity!

Well said.

2611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 01, 2014, 10:04:04 AM
KnC needs to put up a sign... BUY at your OWN RISK! As refunds may not be turned in the same currency your product was purchased in. Smiley

on that note is it true that the 3rd batch of knc miners (the ones they are selling now) don't have a refund?

somehow i can't seem to get an answer to this (or it is obviouse someplace and i read over it)

thanks
Searing

If every thing goes to plan then I can see them saying no to refunds, but if miners change from physical to virtual or there is a delay in production then they cannot/should not refuse a refund.

I really couldn't care if they say 'no refunds' in the terms, if they can't produce in a timely manner then they have to refund if they like it or not.

I might be delusional but this is how I see it.

It's a principle at least as old as Rome in the common law: A unilateral change to a contract is not valid. Unless you're a government, then such things as morality and ethics have no meaning anyway.

Don't sign nothin' without a lawyer vetting it. YOUR lawyer, not KNC's.

Does anyone know what the exact security loop hole it was that brought these guys down, was it a Finney attack of some kind?  I thought it was something to do with people making it look like they were deposits on the block chain but they weren't actually getting deposited.

Nah, it's a very old exploit. Dates back at least to the bronze age.

Sticky Fingers.

What I Do

I'm american working in Eastern Europe for about 3 years now, specializing in outsourcing tech and development of new online/ecommerce based projects. I'm a marketor by heart, but have skills that range from business development to graphic design, to direct corporate sales.

Skills

Analytics & Reporting, Business Development, Direct Marketing, E-Commerce, Graphic Design, Outsourcing, Product Management, Product Marketing, Sales and Marketing, Web Development

What I'm Looking For

I'm looking investment or partnership, into either my US based projects, or Eastern European projects. Both are fabulous markets, and having the inexpensive technical development team, mixed with the clients of the US, makes for a great business model.

Markets

Cloud Management, Consumer Internet, E-Commerce, Invest Online, Outsourcing, Sales and Marketing, Social Media

Locations

Bulgaria, Eastern Europe, Europe, Finland, Germany, Greece, Moldova, New York City, Philadelphia, Romania, Sofia, Ukraine, United States

Is there any proof that Joshua Zipkin has even been in the US during the past three years? Remember, one of the hypes of AMT is that they're an American company located in Havertown, PA, located in an office guarded by a gorilla, then moved to Haverford, PA, the next town due north, in a second floor office where pretty Jewish girls are supposed to be working.

In case I missed it, reread the skills section again and see how I missed the computer software and/or hardware as it relates to bitcoin mining part.

Are you absolutely certain you got the right Joshua Zipkin? Cuz I've not seen any demonstration of the LISTED skillset.
2615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [CGA] Cryptographic Anomaly - The Elusive Coin on: March 01, 2014, 08:38:47 AM

Probaqbly a bit late, but a I had a few questions/thoughts which I'd hoped to get in before the new update was released:

1. roughly how many coins do you expect to be mined, say per 1,000 blocks?  And following on from that is the total number of coins still appropriate, given the reward change?   (though I'm not even sure if this is change-able).

2. the wallet itself - well, it isn't very exciting - have you looked at other wallets for inspiration?  For example the Unobtanium wallet is really nicely done I think.

The amount of coins going into circulation will not change (by much, maybe a little bit faster, but you will barely be able to tell). Once the logo contest closes I may look into changing the feel of the wallet. I will take a look at Unobtanium, is there any other wallets that would be of interest?

It's honestly the coolest one I've seen. However, it's basically cosmetic. A skin, more or less. But it is very cool.

Frankly, most wallets look the same. It's really not a big deal or a high priority as I see it, so long as it's fully functional.  Hell, I use Electrum for bitcoin, and that bitch is UGLY and poorly laid out. But it's fast and functional. I see it the same way I see cars. If it's fast and pretty, that's cool. If it's just pretty, who cares?

I completely agree it is merely cosmetic, but I do think cosmetics are important.  They form part of the whole eco-system around the coin.  I think it will show that time and thought has gone into it, will help separate CGA from the herd and make it more attractive in the round.

If it were a massive effort, then don't bother, but if we can improve it for a reasonable amount of work then I think it will be time well spent.

Sorry, I was a bit terse there. Didn't mean to be, was dealing with my 6 week old daughter at the same time Cheesy

I was trying to say that it's not a high priority as long as the wallet works well. I actually agree that making it attractive is a good idea from a marketing/adoption standpoint. I am not a programmer, but it looks like it's simply a skin in the case of Unobtanium, and it does make it very cool. It should be fairly trivial to do something similar with CGA's wallet.

If I could reskin Electrum, I would. I hate it's layout. But waiting sometimes three days for Bitcoin-qt to sync is annoying, and Electrum does it in a few seconds. I don't use online wallets for anything that's going to last over a day, so the speed is important to me. For bitcoin. Alt coins are more of a hobby to me right now. Interesting, sometimes profitable, and a bit of fun. So speed isn't nearly the issue. However, if someone had what it took to make a wallet similar to Electrum for alt coins, I would use it. And if somebody already has and I missed it, please say so! Cheesy

Have you looked at MuCoWa: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=476411.0

Haven't looked at it myself but it sounds interesting.

I find the "just decompile .jar to examine code" a bit suspicious. It does look interesting, but the built in fees and the lack of source code is a bit scary. I'm not a programmer, but I can hack code well enough to find the cracks.

Electrum is a full client, but the blockchain is kept on online servers. That's why it's fast. It's open source, it could probably be fairly easily adapted to an alt. I doubt it could be a multi-coin wallet in one instance, but I'm not sure of that, as it does have support for multiple wallets with separate keys. I'm not good enough to know, but it would certainly be an interesting project.

To be listed on BTC38 should be our aim....

I thought there was already an earthcoin team china, website etc... Am I wrong in this? Or have they simply not gotten the job done?

EDIT: Unfortunately, I only speak and write in English. Just about all variants, but still only English.

https://www.mintpal.com/voting  keep voting, doubled our votes yesterday which wasnt too shabby

14.5mil coins added per day, we need more exchanges to spread it out more, seems to be mostly heading to cryptsy.  Its probably inevitable this coin hits 10 satoshi or lower tbh, crazy amount of coins per day.

I trade primarily on Coinex.pw and its pretty thin there as far as volume. Would be nice to see some of the cryptsy people come over and help bulk up the eac trade.

Yeah, it seems like most miners are auto-selling on cryptsy, too. We need to continue to tell everyone about EAC, Earthazaar, and more.

I'll join up on coinex with some of my stash.

EDIT: Voted for EAC at MintPal. Super Easy.

Done

We need the chinese market .....

Can't disagree. So how do we make them need earthcoin?
