2601  Local / Pilipinas / Re: [Rare diamond] mabibili gamit ang cryptocurrency on: June 23, 2021, 07:05:02 PM

Sa tingin ko it's just a coincidence Smiley
2602  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger fake device Warning! on: June 23, 2021, 07:44:25 AM
Here is Kraken Security Labs video doing their own modification for Ledger Nano X wallet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-dZ3nTNrm4
Interesting video and personally, I have nothing against Ledger but this looks like a design flaw, am I right? I think this could've been prevented [regardless of the data breach] if there was no room [more compact] for an additional component...
- If the temperature of the device is going to be a concern, then they should probably come up with a new design.
2603  Economy / Goods / Re: My time beleveing in bitcoin and painting this... on: June 23, 2021, 05:02:17 AM
I've spend two years realising this one based on my belief into bitcoinBTC.  (100cm X100cm acrylic)
You forgot to mention its price.

I'm looking for an escrow to manage this....
I can help you with that part, but you can also try contacting other escrow providers from the following lists:
- Make sure to read the terms, prior to contacting one of us Smiley

2604  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Decentralised social media on: June 23, 2021, 03:46:41 AM
what you guys think about decentralised versions of the large social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Instagram and others.
~Snipped~
Would you be prepared for example to pay £1/$1/1euro per month knowing that there are no adverts and no onward selling of your personal data?
I know a couple of free ones (friendica [stats] and diaspora [stats]) with not very impressive stats [IMO] and if you're going to add fees [no matter how small], then I'm expecting to see a lot fewer people using it.
- Btw, not sure how accurate those stats were, and what I said, doesn't represent the whole community.
2605  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Possibly exposed email data from hacks/leaks being used to register in Coinlist? on: June 22, 2021, 04:35:47 PM
I mean, is there any consequence to that if I didn't do anything about it?
There could be some, but it heavily depends on what sort of data was included in the data breach...
- Most of the time, it's not a big issue since it's probably just usernames or emails, but if it includes passwords, credit card details, home addresses, and similar stuff, then you should definitely do something quickly.

The last occurrence that is crypto-related is from Ledger, last 2020.
Then it probably has something to do with it [hopefully nothing bad happens on your side].

Update:
Anyway, thanks for your inputs on this one. This is weird for me because I'm paranoid with this lol.
You're very welcome Smiley
2606  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Possibly exposed email data from hacks/leaks being used to register in Coinlist? on: June 22, 2021, 03:06:36 PM
Has anybody experienced the same thing recently?
Just finished checking my emails and luckily, there was no such a thing on my end.

I'm not sure but this email is not that connected much with sites but oh well.
You might want to check that email through a service like "have I been pwned?" and see what type of result you'll get [just to be sure].
2607  Economy / Services / Re: [Wanted] L3++ Hashboard repair UK - Abroad on: June 22, 2021, 02:04:54 PM
Is anyone able to recommend anyone UK based or otherwise to fix them at a reasonable cost.
I'm not sure about the costs or a reputable repair center in the UK, but there are a few in the US and Europe: Where to fix your Asic miners
Note: I prefer to not vouch so kindly DYOR.
2608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mind-Country-Bitcoin. on: June 22, 2021, 12:30:59 PM
First Elon-Now Chinna-Tomorrow what else will be discussed.
It's a hot topic at the moment, so expect to see a lot of positive or negative news in the coming weeks.

every 4 years the rich are getting richer-because of Bitcoin,
I Believe you're referring to BTCitcoin halving, am I right? I don't think those that are already wealthy, have to rely on BTCitcoin to reach that moment before they'd become richer...
- That literally happens to them as we speak.

does that include you....! I do not think so.
It depends...

China set a new trap 1-2 Successfully the 3rd failed and was completely swallowed by the car businessman, now the 4th story is just starting to look fun and long.
Care to explain what the first three traps were about and what's the fourth one?
2609  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Now is definitely an excellent time for personal mining on: June 22, 2021, 10:58:18 AM
The cost of buying cryptocurrency directly is too high, and the investment in mining is still much less than that of buying cryptocurrency directly. We have to control costs and risks
It looks like you've forgotten about the issues that might come with mining investments; It's not always going to be a smooth experience...

e.g.
  • Dealing with faulty boards, PSU's and etc... > Shipping them for repair [depending on the situation, it could lead to additional costs] > Less hash rate.

The price of mining machines is now reduced.
I haven't checked if that's indeed the case, but I don't think it'll last forever...
2610  Economy / Gambling / Re: (Rollbit.com) I withdrew LTC to BTC wallet and support won't help. on: June 22, 2021, 09:23:02 AM
at the minute support don't want to know never mind help me.
~Snipped~
so far support just say 'it's not our fault' my argument is that it's both our faults, if the site didn't let me send LTC to a BTC address then it would not have happened, many exchanges and wallets have already thought about this issue and do not let you send LTC to a BTC address.
You might want to also include screenshots of the conversation that you had with their support [might come in handy].
- You should've posted this on their "ann thread" instead [more exposure].

better move in scam accusation.
If you decide to do this, the "move" button is in the bottom left corner of the page.
2611  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blocks of Crypto -- a Minecraft-Crypto Concept on: June 22, 2021, 06:33:38 AM
I think that simply saying you can earn money while playing it will attract a large playerbase, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Attracting players shouldn't be the main concern, instead, you should focus more on how you're going to keep them on the server in question and that depends on how simple the whole process is going to be for them.

Just a big mess of thoughts. Would love to hear your takes on it.
I'm not a Minecraft player but I've heard about a somewhat similar server before ["link" - make sure to check the other links within that article as well] and I think Minecraft players would probably enjoy having another option in regards to such a server.
2612  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Beginners list for wallets and methods of earning free crypto on: June 22, 2021, 05:14:06 AM
In addition to all of the above comments, I'd like to suggest the following as well:

  • Remove all of the listed cloud mining websites [9 out of 10 are nothing but a platform that's meant to scam its users].
  • Remove anything that you haven't successfully received any payments from [quality over quantity].
2613  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Partminer.net Review for SCAM-Brosminer.com/Brosvga.com/Vgagold.com/Vgaminer.net on: June 21, 2021, 02:50:48 PM
There is no need if you ask me that it is not worth the time, because probably next week they will be with a new one: D
You have a point, but I'm hoping that by reporting them to their registrar, they might suspend their hosting plans [not just their domains] as well.
- Basically, anything to make them think twice before doing such things over and over again, would be great.

Update:
The registrar is Wild West Domains and here you can report such things - abuse@wildwestdomains.com
Just did, thank you Smiley
2614  Economy / Speculation / Re: Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids! on: June 21, 2021, 01:50:59 PM
I think the question now is where BTC finds support.
Last week, I thought it'll be around the $35k mark for at least a couple of weeks but I was wrong and based on recent events, I think we're going to see the support level at around $27[ish]k.
- FYI: I have no doubts it'll reach the $100k mark someday but it's not going to happen in a year or two [probably in 2024 - next halving].
2615  Other / Archival / Re: @amazonsess_sell telegram name is same like mine Remi Guile on: June 21, 2021, 12:11:41 PM
I want to inform that it has no connection with me and he is 100% impersonating and most likely trying to scam.
You might want to include your own Telegram username as well:

Please be aware and always confirm my identy with forum PM system or deal only in forum.
I searched quickly and it appears, it wasn't the first time that someone has either made you a target or impersonated you, so I'd suggest to ditch Telegram and "only" stick to this forum.
2616  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Handmade paintings for sale on: June 21, 2021, 06:23:40 AM
Shipping payment has to be done in advance. The price of the painting can be escrowed.
Regardless of the latter part, can you take another picture that includes a handwritten note that says "bitcointalk.org", together with one of the paintings?
- I'm not accusing you of being a scammer [unfortunately, I've seen scammers trying for less than what normal shipping rates are], but just wanted to make sure that you are indeed the artist [AKA Keerthana ~ (@_thecandidartist_) on IG] who made those beautiful paintings.
2617  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-06-19] Bitcoin Must Be Accepted By World Bank, According To Charter on: June 21, 2021, 04:56:52 AM
~Snipped~
~Snipped~
Thank you for the explanations Smiley

If the local currency has appreciated, it says, the World Bank should do the decent thing and hands the gains back:
They should but I have a feeling they'll come up with a workaround in order to "not" give those gains back [I hope I'm wrong].

Does this imply that if bitcoin pumps against a real benchmark currency like American dollars, the World Bank must give El Salvador back the profit?
Yes.

How about if bitcoin is dumping? The World Bank must accept the delivery of more bitcoin?
Based on that article, if it depreciates, they'll be expecting more BTCitcoin...
- I have no doubts they'd impose such a thing, but the same can't be said for the other issue [that's what they do best].

2618  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: QuicklyBTC.com scam exchange on: June 20, 2021, 04:02:27 PM
I did some more digging and I believe the following information would come in handy when it comes to reporting them to their registrar [Namecheap]:
- In case you still haven't reported them, please do so: Submit a ticket > Abuse Reports > Fraud > Fill in the needed data.

2619  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-06-09 Tim Wu, Reportedly Owns Over $1M in Bitcoin on: June 20, 2021, 01:27:08 PM
@Theb
I wouldn't label him as a BTCitcoin critic as well and IIRC, it's not the first time that Cointelegraph has used attention-grabbing content/headlines.

@ruthbabe
Regardless of him being one [a BTCitcoin critic] or not, it's quite normal to see someone changes his stance on something that they don't fully understand [not sure if that's the case here, but there were a few prior to him and I'm sure there will be more in the future].

My OCD kicked in as soon as I saw there's a big range in regards to how much he owns; Didn't he disclose everything [why there's still an uncertainty?]?
2620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any MAURITIAN here? Bitcoin still not popular in Mauritius on: June 20, 2021, 11:31:31 AM
So...as it turns out... there are apparently no Crypto exchange websites where Mauritians can buy/sell...
A few websites remain in the list that can potentially accept users from Mauritius; coinmama & cex.io
I looked around and in addition to mk4's [Paxful] and dataispower's [LocalBitcoins - taken from the provided link] posts and also those you've posted, I found a few more:
- I didn't mention eToro because it's no longer an option [link].

Take note: DYOR prior to using any of the above platforms.
