1901  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: BitBox 02 -- Has anyone here actually used it? on: November 04, 2021, 04:57:22 PM
I just finished watching a bunch of videos about "BitBox02" and I didn't like the following things:

The product is not in stock,
They "might" restock it soon.

I check also Amazon few hours ago as I know buying screen protector can not result to any vulnerability or whatsoever
Unfortunately, it's not a "tempered glass"; in other words, it'll offer little protection.

Also I was unable to see any screen protector for Trezor one but only for Trezor model T.
Here's "one" similar to the one that you provided for model T.

we should not underrate the silicon case because it can still protect the screen to some extent by providing some cushioning.
You have a point, but only if you drop it on a flat surface [from a short distance].

I'll just order some custom sized basic plastic screen protectors from AliBaba for various HW wallets and sell them lol, this is a huge gap in the market, it turns out, and easy to fill.. Grin
Cheesy Wink Cheesy

Trezor Model T that is now way overpriced (€200 + shipping)
Small correction: It should be in "USD".

Update:
No, that is not the case for everyone, Trezor website changes currency and price with shipping according to your location and IP address.
Here is one example showed in EUR:
https://archive.ph/HqcQA
That's interesting and unfair at the same time [apart from the shipping part].
1902  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: November 04, 2021, 01:41:57 PM

1903  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: BitBox 02 -- Has anyone here actually used it? on: November 03, 2021, 04:01:48 PM
What's quite interesting is the password entry. It's done by tapping the case on either side in specific locations.
Whoever first came up with the idea, is a genius!

Oh and Bitbox is much stronger than it looks, did you see this demolishing/destroying video?  Cheesy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAStv2Iluak
And for comparison purposes, this is "how durable Trezor model T" is Cheesy

But it would be best if they just included a few, maybe one preapplied;
They could even sell it separately as Trezor does and I'm quite surprised that there are little to no accessories for it [apart from those that came in the box].

You're a legend for keeping it for that long Cheesy

Trezor sells silicone protection cases but I think there is a hole for screen in them, so it makes no sense to use it for screen protection.
You're right, but you can pair it with a "PanzerGlass™ Screen Protector".
- Unfortunately, they're not offering anything for the model One.
1904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency must adapt in schools/colleges curriculum on: November 03, 2021, 12:38:03 PM
What are the best for beginners between  Hodl and invest?
You should avoid both of them if you're just a beginner [assuming that you meant to say "trading", instead of "investing"]; even hodling has its own risks!
- Doing either of those things as a newcomer is quite similar to jumping in a manual truck, without having any prior experience in driving a manual car [you need to learn the basics first].

Does Education in Cryptocurrencies is the best way to avoid being scam?
No, it's not [for the most part]!
1905  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin ETF sa Pilipinas, Possible kaya? on: November 03, 2021, 09:59:06 AM

1906  Other / Archival / Re: [LIST] Where to spend Bitcoin? on: November 03, 2021, 08:20:09 AM
Thank you for adding 4 services to the list. The Accepted_here service is very cool, I've never heard of it before.
You're very welcome. Indeed, it's very cool.

Couldn't figure out where is the list of stores in the service Blockchair's Awesome Blockchain and Crypto Services. I went to the link, clicked on the sheet, but I am offered to fill out some form with an application and send it by e-mail.
I believe the "get on this list" button on the header part is intended for those who want to become their partner only... You just have to scroll down and choose different categories from the tabs [e.g. entertainment, mining pools and etc...].

With regards to adding wallets and exchanges. Well this is a little off topic.
Seeing that you've not included those, then perhaps it's not worth adding Blockchair's awesome list as well [e.g. the entertainment category is mostly just casinos].

However, after seeing this thread I have started working on a project which will help us keep the data on spreadsheet along with more proofs uploading options.
Am I correct to assume that it'd extract the information [signed messages + verifications] from this thread and just lists them on a spreadsheet [probably as a link]?
- I'm sorry to sound rude, but I don't think such a thing is needed.
1908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Selling items for 0.0004 Bitcoin. on: November 02, 2021, 06:06:36 PM
will buyers be prepared to purchase such a small amount?
Some of the items are domain names,
It depends on how good those domains are! I've knowingly overpaid for a few domains before [I do know that doesn't automatically equate to "some of the fees exchanges charge for withdrawing the funds", but it was pretty close to the average ones].

I'd suggest focusing more on "how and where" to market them instead.
1909  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A Bitcoin Marketplace for everyone on: November 02, 2021, 04:23:40 PM
if the market is centralized the community can
lead the market
The community might be able to propose certain stuff, but only you can lead or rather choose its path.

We simply use our own. The Vendors have a PGP and can more, maybe a mnemonic, uuid, auth token etc....
AFAICS, there's "at least" one way [directly or as a workaround] for every single one of them that "doesn't" prevent an inside job from taking place [unfortunately].

Thanks for the feedback (i really need that),
Thank you as well for your answers.

For some reason, it's only displaying the result for the newest added feature ["Address Balance"]: Video link
- Perhaps you forgot to change something from the back-end [tested in Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Tor and Edge].

Update:
Thanks for telling me! I wouldn't notice it.
You're very welcome Smiley

1912  Economy / Scam Accusations / [Warning] Miners-Mart.com (multiple red flags)!!! on: November 01, 2021, 03:17:22 PM
What happened:
As soon as I visited their website, I knew something wasn't right so I looked around and found a bunch of red flags!

Red flags:

  • They're claiming that they've sold "4243 units to 1207 clients from 31 countries" in just "55 days", and yet, I couldn't find a single review about their services!
  • Their "address" belongs to one of the "DSW designer shoe warehouses [archived]".
  • They seem to have most of the "sold out" mining rigs from various manufacturers!
  • There's almost no limit in regards to the number of mining rigs that you can add to the cart [huge supply (#1 and #2)]!
  • They have two phone numbers!
    • The one in the "footer" area, belongs to another website [Meds-Mart.com - archived] that "has a different address [they're probably connected]".
  • For some reason, they've added links to a couple of other websites that have nothing to do with the products that they're selling:
    • This "one" is linked to "kush-hub.com".
    • This "one" is linked to "meds-mart.com".

1913  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-10-31] Increased Mining Operations in Kazakhstan Causing Power Deficit on: November 01, 2021, 11:13:57 AM
Let's hope the people of Kazakhstan won't see bitcoin mining as a bad business consuming more electricity than what's available.
It appears that it has already begun: Crypto Miners Blamed for Power Supply Deficit in Kazakhstan, Government Mulls Restrictions

or really did Bitcoin mining power consumption totally exceeded even their surplus?

And if you Google it,,, even they are supplying power outside now to neighbors because of surplus.
By the look of things, they're going down the same road as Iran did last year [a lot could change quickly if there's a broken system in place]:

1914  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-10-22] 200 Bitcoin ATMs installed at Walmart… with plans for 8000 in total on: November 01, 2021, 09:03:39 AM
The only thing is.... how many people will be willing to go the extra mile to create a Coinme account?
I don't think a lot of customers would be using it for that feature alone [it doesn't make sense to use a BTM that forces its users to go through a KYC process for small amounts]!
- Even they know that [hence why it's in the pilot stage].

Also, Coinstar are available in many countries and I see they have a "Bitcoin" option on their website... so I am curious to know if this "buying Bitcoins at kiosks" are available in those other countries too?   Wink
Unfortunately, it's only available in the US [AFAICS].
- They still have to partner with a third-party provider to offer that feature.
1915  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A Bitcoin Marketplace for everyone on: November 01, 2021, 08:04:55 AM
Decentralization
We can make the market decentralized.
The biggest problem is probably that everyone is
marking a market and no one will ever buy really
from it or abuse the technology.
The biggest problem with such marketplaces is the fact that most of the previous ones that announced themselves as decentralized platforms, turned out to be centralized [to an extent]!
- Would you mind giving an in-depth explanation in regards to how you'd be tackling that issue?

Note: I don't have a idea for a vote system yet.
That's the tricky part [e.g. clean/real votes].

Multi signature Escrow
Every order get a new bitcoin address that is secured
by 2/3 Multi signature. If the vendor don't send the
product to the user it can report the scam. The 3th party
(the marketplace) can sign with the user and send the bitcoins back.
- How are you planning to choose/hire the escrow providers?
- How can you be sure that the escrow provider doesn't have any connection to the vendor or the buyer?

Fees
The marketplace is mainly paid by fees. If a vendor has a high level they pay less fees.

Levels
The Vendors can level up with every feedback or order they get.
What's your plan in regards to dealing with fake ones?
1916  Other / Meta / Re: Cheaters Hunters vs Spam Busters on: November 01, 2021, 06:48:49 AM
I'd love to hear what you guys think here about which is the best option for users to make when they want to contribute to the forum.
I wonder why you didn't include scam busters?

Are the contribution of the two types of users above really needed by the forum
It really doesn't matter how someone contributes to the forum, as long as it's in a positive way.

which of the two assumption below do you think is correct.
Both of them have parts that might be inaccurate [the latter seems to be more accurate, but only due to being in a specific scenario] and there are certain users that do both of those contributions.

  • e.g.
    • Be a cheater hunter, you will get more merit, have the opportunity to become a DT and you get the trust of many forum users and you will get your rank faster.
In most cases, that wouldn't/shouldn't be the sole reason for getting into DT2/1, and doing such things, doesn't automatically equate to other users trusting you!
1917  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [BETA] Mercury Wallet - Privacy for Bitcoin on: October 31, 2021, 06:19:50 PM
I'm a bit confused when it comes to choosing a custom value for the statecoin [deposit page]. Let's assume for a second that I want to swap a specific amount [e.g. 0.4987BTC]... Is it going to also show a pending swap group for that amount, on the swap page?
- From what I've understood, when you try to swap 1BTC, you automatically join a 1BTC swap group, as opposed to a bunch of smaller ones [hence why I asked the above question].
1918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Willy Woo: Bitcoin ‘Almost Certainly’ Reaching Six-Figures in H1 2022 on: October 31, 2021, 03:14:02 PM
Top crypto commentator and on-chain analyst Willy Woo
And yet, this is the first time I've heard that name!

Woo noted that long-term Bitcoin accumulators are more wealthy than ever, particularly when compared to previous bull cycles.
~Snipped~
According to Woo, the previous generation of Bitcoin holders were replaced in the fourth quarter last year with “high-net-worth purchasers” that drove the price higher with accumulation.
It's quite strange seeing a so-called "on-chain analyst" talking about a type of data that's "off-chain"! He clearly based that assumption on a bunch of publicly reported/available data [those are incomplete; therefore, they're inaccurate]!

"We’re at that point now where all the new guys that bought in during the first half of this year, they’re now long-term holders
This is the first time I've ever seen someone labeled or rather referred to less than a year hodlers, as "long-term holders".
1919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas' current use of BTC on: October 31, 2021, 12:36:56 PM
Second, if everyone HODL and nobody spends BTC, isn't this becoming just a pyramid scheme?
I can see why you've described it like that, but since we're dealing with a currency that's quite volatile and not something that would provide various fixed amounts for investing certain amounts, then you shouldn't be considering it as a pyramid scheme!

When was the last time you sent BTC to someone as electronic cash to pay for something (an item, a service, etc.)?
I do that regularly and I'm sure I'm not the only one Wink

The one who mocked him shamefully was Roger Ver, and what happened is that people massively sided with Andreas and gave him donations for about 100 Bitcoins. That was in 2017 when the price was over $17K.
Small correction: Some of the donations came when BTCitcoin was at "$12-$17k".
1920  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Nummix - Anonymous Wallet with API on: October 31, 2021, 08:32:32 AM
The mixer service, which is in high demand by our users, is located at nummix.io.
I was about to report a bug that affected the "add destination" and "mix" buttons, but it seems that you've quickly fixed the "bad request" error.

I noticed it doesn't show an error when someone adds the exact same address to new destinations [already tested with zero delays for all of them].
- Same goes for the refund address.

They could call it Anonummix Wallet.
