2021  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: AirGapped Hardware Wallets on: October 07, 2021, 04:20:46 PM
~Snipped~
simply using $1 antenna via ethernet cables.
Not sure which one is more accurate, the article that mentioned "could reach tens of meters" or the PDF file [I only read the parts that I could understand] that said "to a distance of several meters away" but regardless of that, the odds of such attacks happening are quite low [CMIW], even with an infected computer [heavily depends on the location & distance of the computer + the security measures that some have].
- I never thought such a thing was even possible [thank you for sharing it].

I got a Passport and will try it out soon. Not sure whether to write a new post with extensive review or add to one of the threads about airgapped or open-source wallets.
Do both [just add a link for the latter part].

Anyhow; is there anything you would like to see / know about the device that wasn't covered in other reviews or articles so far?
Anything that might be hidden [apart from its games].

Despite being a low res image [I had no luck in finding that eBay listing], it's somewhat obvious that those packages/boxes are from Bitmain [with Antminer logo on their side], but based on the number of units that you've mentioned the other day, the image that you've included doesn't come close to those amounts [I haven't counted them, but it appears that they're probably around 500 units "only"].
2023  Economy / Reputation / Re: Self bouncing currency exchange scammer. on: October 07, 2021, 07:38:28 AM
very good exchange rate (10% extra BTC for PayPal) and the user even ready to charge back.
Just checked each of the categories and it's quite clear that he/she randomly came up with numbers [no basis]:
- Most legit sellers, would normally lower the percentage as the trade value goes up, but that's not the case here!

I noticed OP has been trying to bump the thread with alt accounts. These accounts leave positive comments for OP.
I don't think his/her main intention was to bump a thread, since it was already at the top [it's probably just the latter part].

I believe the users mentioned above trying to scam forum users. As a reference, he used a Paxful account. Though the username is similar to his forum username, I don't believe the Paxful account belongs to him.
Even if that Paxful account turns out to be his/her account, I still strongly believe that the seller in question created that thread to farm trust [thankfully, such actions have no influence on the ashwin171's "real" trust rating].

Supported.

2025  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Press-VPN. Become anonymous now! on: October 06, 2021, 05:27:48 PM
The Press-VPN service does not log.
~Snipped~
The user generates his own certificate for extra security.
Does it mean that you can't keep "any" type of log, even if you wanted to?
- If the answer to that is "NO", then have you been audited by any of the reputable security firms?

You didn't mention if you're providing dedicated IPs or shared ones?

The original link still seems to not be working for me when I click it
They need to get rid of the excess parts:

From their FAQ section:

  • What is the geographic location of the servers of Press-VPN?
At the moment you can choose any proposed location:Germany (Nuremberg), Latvia (Riga), Ukraine (Kiev), Ukraine (Dnipro), Netherlands (Amsterdam), Netherlands (Doetinchem), France (Roubaix), USA (New York), Finland (Helsinki), Australia (Sydney), Canada (Montreal), Hong Kong, Russia (Moscow), Russia (St. Petersburg), South Africa (Cape Town), Switzerland (Geneva).

2027  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-03-10Uzbekistan warns citizens against using unauthorized cryptocurrency e on: October 06, 2021, 01:11:12 PM
These trading platforms do not have their offices in the country and are registered in other jurisdictions and their servers are located abroad.
I wonder why most governments are obsessed with various websites and apps that don't have their servers in their countries?!
- Oops! I forgot they always want to have full access to literally everything!

The unlicensed platforms do not ensure proper storage and confidentiality of personal data of consumers either.
I wish they would've at least cited the reasons for coming up with that conclusion!
- I'm not familiar with the exchanges in question and despite agreeing with some of the stuff that they've mentioned [e.g. "Telegram bots and groups"], It's quite obvious that they have ulterior motives!

Uzbekistan got its first-ever licensed crypto exchange Uznex in January 2020, operated by Korean company, Kobea group.
The platform allows only selling of cryptocurrencies within the regulatory framework.
Until they could offer more than the part I've bolded, most of their citizens would probably continue to look for alternative routes.

For those that are interested in knowing the names of the exchanges in question, you can refer to "this link".
2028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 12 years today since the first known price was set for BTC on: October 06, 2021, 10:39:09 AM
I remember stumbling upon that archived page from a thread on the "Project Development" board before [it was using those prices as a reference for older dates], but I never paid enough attention to the formula that was responsible for those prices, until you created this thread [thank you for mentioning it here].

  • It'd be interesting to see what the prices would've been if we were still using that formula [obviously we have to tweak the first and the last part of the formula so it could apply to the current situation that we're in at the moment (ASICS)]!

Thanks to your reference links, they brought "another interesting thread" to my attention.

Possibilities:

  • Kahit na encrypted yung excel file mo, wala siyang restriction pag dating sa file transfer and that gives the hacker the time that it's needed to brute force it [a possibility that heavily depends sa length at complexity ng password mo].
  • May vulnerabilities sa mga lumang excel or rather office password protections [e.g. 2003 version].

Out of curiosity, anu masasabi niyo tungkol sa "reddit post" na ito?
- Just to be clear, di ko nirerecommend yan pero gusto ko lang malaman ang mga opinyon niyo.
2030  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: LithoSphere is a SCAM project on: October 05, 2021, 04:43:53 PM
Hi @SFR10, if you know that from the start this was a scam, it's obviously very unfortunate that people like you who have a Legend reputation, don't give a warning in their Bounty posts.
I've never visited their thread prior to the creation of this thread [same goes for that worthless sub-board as a whole] + I have that sub-board on ignore and I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one with such configuration!

So you just silence, people like they are committing fraud, due to the ignorance of the bounty hunter participants who remain optimistic that this is part of one of the best bounties.
Good thing that you mentioned being ignorant! You shouldn't blame anyone else for your own mistakes [always DYOR]!

there should be more people have the Legend account, instead they should give and make an appeal not to continue this bounty.
Before anything else, you don't need a Legendary rank to warn others about such stuff, and in case you didn't know, scams aren't moderated on this forum:

you who have a Legend reputation,
There's no such a thing as a Legendary reputation [I believe you meant to say "rank" instead].

It seems that now many Legend accounts don't care anymore about BM committing fraud so that they can stop and not continue their bounty, by warning bounty hunter participants not to continue participating in the bounty.
That's not true but most users [apart from the Newbies and bounty hunters], never/rarely visit those boards and sub-boards!

Hopefully you can understand and sorry if there are words that you don't like,
Yes, I do understand why you used those words [don't worry] and kindly refer to my previous post and provide the needed evidence, so we could at least tag their account with concrete proof.
- While you're at it, you might want to edit and update the first post with "this format".
2031  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-30] Kraken Security Labs Identifies Vulnerabilities In Bitcoin ATMs on: October 04, 2021, 06:43:28 PM
how long will these old machines that need hardware updates be sitting out in the field being used?
Probably forever [thanks to GeneralBytes for not mentioning anything about it on their Telegram channel] or until someone exploits the hardware vulnerability in question.
- It's worth noting that it took GeneralBytes four months to inform its operators about the "admin key" problem:

  • Dear operators,
We have received reports that many of you still use the default administration key that you received from factory.
If you do so, please change it immediately. CAS also contains functionality to change administration key on machines in bulk. If you find yourself having issue to find this functionality please contact our support. Thank you.

Having said those, it appears that they could easily fix the "tamper detection" part with some sort of wireless tamper sensor [e.g. something like this].
2032  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: iziBTC - the best digital currency exchange service on: October 04, 2021, 02:44:18 PM
What kind of evidence are you interested in?
It was a straightforward question, but regardless of that, I'm interested in seeing a verifiable statement from each of the platforms that you've listed as your partner.
- Hopefully, this time it would not take you around two months to respond to that!
2033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iranian Bitcoin Mining Ban Lifted after four Months on: October 04, 2021, 01:51:25 PM
As with my current opinion, we still find that there is a ban on every exchange allowing Iran to transact crypto. To complete the country blocking, confirmation from the government is needed so that it can also lift Iran's restrictions on exchange.
Just to be clear, Iran never imposed those restrictions, uncle Sam did + there are still a few foreign exchanges out there that allow Iranians to use their platforms.

I should add that the electricity issues began in 2020 for a short duration and the biggest issue was about 2 months in 2021 during summer and they have all been resolved already.
I have to respectfully disagree [to an extent] with the latter part. Although they've significantly lowered the power outages in some places, there are still some places that experience it regularly.

I also believe that the evidence suggest that most mining farms didn't stop mining and the news about the ban was mainly a show.
This! Those with close ties with the government never stopped [regardless of what the media says].

does the license cost anything and what other requirements they must go through?
I'm not sure about its exact cost & requirements, but those with licenses have to pay a slightly higher electricity rate than what normal consumers pay.
2034  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Gift cards providers on: October 04, 2021, 11:31:28 AM
Yes, I'm looking for the U.S one.
I sent Bitrefill an email and I was quite surprised at how quickly they've responded back:
- It's safe to say that the $15 denomination will still exist Smiley

  • Quote
    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and I am sorry for the inconvenience.

The $15 denomination for Netflix USA is currently out of stock but our supplier should have it back in 1-3 business days.

Please let us know if you have any questions or if there is anything else we can help you with. I hope you are having a great week!

    Thank you,
    Sharon

The link you gave me is not leading anywhere though (404 not found) and searching for "netflix" in the Canadian version is not returning any results: https://coincards.com/ca/?s=netflix&post_type=product
That's strange, you're right but it comes and goes [quite weird]: Here's an "archived" version that I took earlier.
- Despite its availability on CoinCards, I'd suggest waiting a few more days for Bitrefill to refill it.
2035  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Gauging Interest] Teak Slab - Bitcoin / Litecoin on: October 04, 2021, 10:18:17 AM
the biggest issue is that the pieces are small so the task of marking out a design is tricky let alone carving.
~Snipped~
I wanted these to be simple designs without too much fine detail.
~Snipped~
Any ideas as to what you would like to see?
Off the top of my head, I would really like to see a unique design along the lines of Kialara bars [original or hydra]; in other words, pretty much the opposite of what you've mentioned in the above middle line and since it's quite tricky to do such styles, then it becomes equally difficult to think of a simple and yet beautiful design.
2036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6000 coinbase clients hacked on: October 04, 2021, 09:03:15 AM
Some points before people starts panicking:

The hack took place between March and May 20 of this year
Based on the time/period that it took place, I wonder why they didn't make a "public" announcement about that incident? Roll Eyes

BTW, for those that would like to read the Coinbase letter without having to download the PDF file, you can refer to the following link instead ["Coinbase notification"]: Hackers rob thousands of Coinbase customers using MFA flaw

Did news of the hack appeared just now or is it Reuters recycling old news to try to create FUD or something?
I remember reading a bunch of hack reports in the past few months but looks like this is the first time that they've made it somewhat public:

2037  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Gauging Interest] Teak Slab - Bitcoin / Litecoin on: October 03, 2021, 05:53:52 PM
I did a test run last weekend at carving the Bitcoin symbol into a piece,
~Snipped~
the result is from a quick enough job
Since you're using your hands to carve on it, I'm curious to see/know how much better/cleaner it could get if you try to improve it?
Just to be clear, I don't expect to see a similar result to what a CNC machine could achieve.

So I am gauging some interest in the concept of some carved Teak products with
very low quantities.
Personally, I love the idea but not the designs [an original one would be a lot better] and the end result so far [sorry if I'm a bit too harsh].
2038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 🛠️ Bitcoin LightningATM on: October 03, 2021, 02:07:48 PM

Despite being a beginner in 3D designing, I'm confident enough that I could either recreate it [for free] in STL format [assuming that there won't be any legal issues] or come up with a different design [perhaps a compact one].
- I tried my best to find the measurements for each part but since I don't know my way around GitHub, I couldn't find it. If you or anybody else provides the measurement for the components and parts, I wouldn't mind spending some time to come up with a design for the community [without charge].

I put this project on the back burner for the reason that I did not manage to attract my nephew to work in the summer (as I wanted),
I guess it now makes sense why you were looking for a way to modernize it [contactless payment] or rather integrate it into the original design.
2039  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Hardware wallets on: October 03, 2021, 01:01:32 PM

2040  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: October 03, 2021, 05:34:45 AM
Because sometimes it rotates just a slight bit.

But it's really not a big issue in my opinion with the tape; quite easy with normal packing tape or wide transparent tape Smiley
I'd be glad to hear any recommendation / improvement suggestions though!
~Snipped~
I don't really see another way to hold a round object in place other than friction to be honest.
You're right... I wanted to tackle that issue by using "square washers" instead [I do know it's probably not worth the trouble to modify everything in order to integrate a different shape into the design, but it'll solve that problem completely].
Note: I'm not vouching for the website that I've included as an example.
