1881  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: www.botheredotters.com IS SCAM BEWARE on: November 10, 2021, 08:02:00 AM
When warning people they block you immediately on Discord!
You might want to provide an "in-depth explanation" about the warning in question [a proof that they blocked you for it, would be nice as well].

That new platform [around 50 days] doesn't have any representatives here [CMIIW], so from where did you find it?
1882  Economy / Reputation / Re: Congratulations to me [rank up to member] on: November 10, 2021, 07:03:04 AM
I know this is not a good statistic from me because there are many other users who are much stronger than me.
And yet, you still have better stats than a lot of other users out there [try to see the glass half-full, as opposed to being half-empty]!
- Despite saying the above things, you're being unfair to yourself by comparing your stats with others [all of us have different journeys].

Being a spam busters is not a bad way in my opinion if it is an attempt by one of the users to raise awareness of the spammers about the quality of their posts.
~Snipped~
and next I will try to get a higher rank [Senior - Legendary]
I have no doubt you'd reach those ranks in the future, but if I were you, I'd focus more on improving your unhandled reports [it's not a big deal, but you have "a lot of those"]:

Update:
I can tell you that the moderators have worked faster than I imagined. 2 out of 900 tagged bad [double report], I only realized it now. But now you can see the latest results.

https://i.ibb.co/jZwMj3q/Screenshoot.png
That also means the 183 unhandled reports that you had in your previous screenshot, were all made in the past day or two! I'm impressed Shocked Smiley
1883  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: November 09, 2021, 07:21:10 PM
My offer extends to you too:
If someone (~?) can share a bunch of useful posts from different users on the local board, I'll Merit them.
Thank you, I'll probably do that on the weekend Smiley

Thanks for the link, I tried to use crwth's judgement to get me started, but most of the users are either inactive or tagged red by now.
You're very welcome... Perhaps you'd be able to find better candidates from "crwth's recent update".

That only leaves finaleshot2016. I sent him the remaining 47 Merit to become Legendary.
I salute you for that... You're going to give him/her a heart attack with your generosity Shocked Cheesy

Update:
Done Smiley
You're a legend Smiley
1884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google/bing Ads with Bitcoin ? on: November 09, 2021, 06:24:46 PM
Google isn't completely unable to track and block malicious links in their Ads.
You're right, but the main issue is the manner in which they accept such ads [I have a strong feeling it's automated]; in other words, there are no preventive measures in place!

Actually they are pretty good at this and their rules about landing pages are pretty strict.
I have to respectfully disagree with you on that one... If you visit the "Scam Accusations" board regularly, you'll see that there are still users who report such ads from time to time!

i will search some btc debit cards
This thread would come in handy: Crypto Debit Cards
Note: I prefer to not vouch for any of those providers [DYOR before trying them]!

or see if someone who i can trust in the services area can buy those ads for me (if anyone have an idea of who that may be i accept suggestions)
Trust no one [the same goes for other sellers on the "Digital goods" board] and use one of the "escrow providers from this forum [anyone from the list, except me]".
1885  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: November 09, 2021, 04:00:48 PM
How about LFC_Bitcoin, I think he is also one of the Filipino users based on his posting history.
~Snipped~
But he's also less active there based this source
Based on the link you've provided, I believe you meant to type my username and you're correct, I'm Filipino [half].

From the merit transaction page it seems that he is one of the merit source, isn't that enough to help users there get merit and rank up?
Unfortunately, I'm not a merit source and recently, I explained [on another thread] why I still haven't tried to submit my application.

most of the users posting there are just the old ones which I don't find they need Merits
You have a point, but most of the veteran members [in our local board] still need "sMerits [I wish there was a way to transfer those to users that you truly trust]"!
- BTW, congratulations [I'm happy for you] Smiley
1886  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-11-08] Zimbabwe may be the next country to embrace Bitcoin as legal tender on: November 09, 2021, 12:33:16 PM
unregistered cross-border transfers, externalization of money, money laundering, and ill-gotten cash flow into subsequent illicit or unlawful actions.
AFAICS, that's also the case with fiat currencies or traditional methods [I do know it's harder with those and it requires more fees to achieve a similar result, but at least you have a better chance of tracking one of them]!

After reading the above part and also the following quote from the "original article", I have a strong feeling that they'd go with the CBDC route instead:

1887  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: need card or webmoney payment - paying btc on: November 08, 2021, 06:21:17 PM
I wish I had seen this thread earlier [sorry to hear that you've been scammed], but since the product that you're going to buy is less than $100, then you should consider creating a WebMoney account instead. You have to "at least" verify your phone number to get an "alias passport" but after that, you'll have enough limits to pay [limits]!

  • Deposit BTCitcoin [look for WMX purse] > Convert it [within the platform] to what the seller accepts on their website [most of them usually accept WMZ [$] or WME [€]] > Pay
    • Note: I haven't used their platform for almost a year, so make sure to do some research and see if they've added other restrictions.
1888  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: November 08, 2021, 01:43:24 PM
I wonder how difficult it will be to get people involved?
If Cyrus approves it, we can try to get the attention of translators by posting in the following thread: Overview of trusted/recommended Translators

this does take some time (between timing the subs and making the correct translation)
~Snipped~
Again, the first couple of subtitles made will take the longest especially for people that never done it, but as the time goes by it will eventually be faster
Assuming that you were referring to the editing part, then all they have to do [AFAICS] is to forward those subtitles to the video editor [he'll be the one to adjust their timings], or did I miss something?
1889  Local / Pilipinas / Re: pag lalagay ng topic tungkol sa mga crypto sa mga paaralan sa pinas. on: November 08, 2021, 11:20:18 AM

1890  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: On-Chain Analytics Tools Project on: November 08, 2021, 09:11:40 AM
should it be released as saas or workstation,
I would go with SaaS [assuming that there's no issue with the type of data that's being transmitted].

what is the USP (ie the visual analytics development environment?, easy database builder and extensive scheduling? data aggregator and cleaning for machine learning/AI?etc),
Personally, I think the first two should be the USPs.

how do you market it (are their sales partners, co-founders etc who might work to market/sell the project or a one off sale to a third party?).
Instead of those, can't you just offer a subscription-based model?

Note: Those were just my subjective opinions, based on my limited knowledge in this field [other users might have a different opinion].
1891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: my Bitoin Core is stuck "connecting to Peers" on: November 07, 2021, 04:37:19 PM
Suddenly its getting stuck and has not made any progress in the last 4 days.  The computer is all frozen/unresponsive and won't let me open anything up.
~Snipped~
1000 GB hard drive.  There is Norton running in the background
Restart your computer > stop Norton > if you still experience frozen screens or screen stutters without running Bitcoin Core, then it could be one of the following things:

  • Your 1TB HDD is almost full [due to other stuff (e.g. movies, games and etc...)].
  • Your HDD is starting to fail.
1892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New York's Mayor-Elect to Take His First Paychecks in Bitcoin on: November 07, 2021, 11:43:48 AM
Despite knowing that such a move, isn't going to have a significant impact on BTCitcoin, I liked what I was reading until I reached the following part... What's the fuss surrounding these so-called "CityCoins"?
- SMH.

Weird, why just his first 3 checks as Mayor of the city?
He was just aiming at a number, higher than what the "Miami Mayor" mentioned in his tweet [he could've picked "two" instead].
1893  Economy / Goods / Re: Good News - Large Shopping website jeemomart.com start accepting Bitcoin on: November 07, 2021, 09:24:40 AM
None of the reviews are deleted. Check here: https://jeemomart.com/product/portable-charging-powerbank/
They were gone but after seeing my post, you restored them [it doesn't take a genius to figure out that part]! It was showing a "404 error" and here's "proof" based on my browser history.
- Any other excuses? Roll Eyes

  • A 404 error indicates that the webpage you're trying to reach can't be found. You might see a 404 error because of a problem with the website, because the page was moved or deleted, or because you typed the URL wrong.

JeemoMart is a new dropshipping website like many others, so all those reviews are from product suppliers for listed products. We have no intention to rip off anyone here.
~Snipped~
Again those reviews are from products suppliers for listed product from their wholesale platform.
Thank you for confirming that none of those reviews were made on your platform!
1894  Other / Meta / Re: Is "Scam accusation" board utilizing effectively? on: November 07, 2021, 07:36:27 AM
I've seen plenty of scam accusations opened by brand new members who obviously did not see any warning signs originating from bitcointalk before they got scammed
Most of them probably haven't done any/enough research [bitcointalk isn't the only forum/platform that warns users about such scams].

I even checked what the search results pulled up for "1xbit" and IIRC all of the top results were links to the site itself or positive reviews and so forth.  There weren't any red flags that showed up in at least the first two pages of search results.
Depending on "a few things", results may vary from person to person...

  • I've got the following results while using the incognito mode in Chrome: Video link

@RapTarX
If any of those threads save a single person from getting scammed, they've served their purpose!
1895  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Necessary reminder: watch out for $5 wrench attacks on: November 06, 2021, 07:39:40 PM
saying you have no access will not save your life. it may save your investment. but not your life.

instead have a second wallet with small amount and give them that. tell them its all you have ever had
You have a point but that'd probably only work if they've randomly picked someone to rob, as opposed to specifically choosing someone as their target + there's no guarantee that they'd not kill you after giving them what they wanted [unfortunately, it's always 50-50]!

Maybe an exchange or a web wallet. A man of his status should know better about protecting his assets.
There is no mention to any hardware wallet, and the fact that by providing codes to his computer and bank accounts made him concerned for his crypto, points to something more in the line of [hypothesis] Electrum or an online wallet / custodial service [/hypothesis].
Both of you are probably correct and he isn't the first one to intentionally [convenience]/unintentionally [limited knowledge] store a significant amount with a custodial service: California resident lost roughly $24 million in cryptocurrency

[before anyone calls me crazy, physical self-defense is legal in (almost??) all jurisdictions]
Not in where I am at the moment [unfortunately]! If you harm the robber in any way, they can sue you [it's ridiculous]!
- Your best bet is to pin down the robber, without actually hurting him [easier said than done]!

1.   _ o _ _ _ _ e _                                            (one word, 8 letters)
3.   _ l _ _ k _ _ _ _ _     _ _ _ _ _ a _ _ _          (two words, 19 letters)
1. Cosigner
3. Blockchain contracts

Despite not being sure with either of the above guesses, I would like to personally thank @cygan for allowing the remaining users to solve or rather complete the last two words Cheesy

[legacy address REDACTED]
~Snipped~
*****My response (after request for confirmation of users segwit address different from legacy address that was listed in auction OP):
Small correction: I believe you meant to say the other way around since the seller in question, uses a "p2sh-segwit" address in his/her auctions.

Quote
The address from the auction and my previious auctions is the correct address. NO OTHER ADDRESS IS CORRECT. Only send payment to the auction address no other.

Also the shipping quote was an honest mistake. I used a btc to usd converter online and it must have rounded up. It showed 0.001. Sorry honest mistake.
I'm not buying that excuse! You've received that shipping quote on the exact same message that also had the questionable legacy address; in other words, that seller is a liar!

  • Quote from: [username REDACTED] on 2021-11-03, 22:18:21
Congrats on the winning bid, I am glad I was able to reply to you in time to bid.  Please send [amount REDACTED] (0.001. is for shipping) to the following address:

Also bitcointalk can check the site activity and can see that the messages from the hacker came from a different IP address than my messages. Reach out to them and they should confirm that for you if you do not believe me.
All of us can easily & quickly change our IP addresses and pretend that we're someone else Roll Eyes

he was hacked, .email settings changed
No, it didn't... When someone changes their email, you'll see a warning ["like this"] on their trust summary page [that's not the case with the seller in question (it only shows the password changes)].

In regards to password changes:

  • The first password change happened after the last PM that you included in your first post.
  • The second password change was an hour after the PM that you included in "this post".

When you connect the dots, it's quite clear that it's just a made-up story from a seller who has ulterior motives!
- Go to the "security log" page and use CTRL + F to search for his/her name.

simply do not click links that are in dms - someone says they replied to your thread and gives a link - go to the thread the ol' fashioned way and dont use their link - or at least inspect the link to see where it really goes before blindly clicking it.
The following thread comes in handy: Green hover color for bitcointalk.org links
1898  Economy / Goods / Re: Good News - Large Shopping website jeemomart.com start accepting Bitcoin on: November 05, 2021, 01:41:28 PM
those are all valid reviews for listed products.
How could you have the audacity to label those reviews as valid while 1/3rd of them have dates, "prior" to the creation date of your website?
@stompix also included one of them ["October 19, 2021"].

  • Video proof [this time, don't even bother to delete the pages (like what you did with the one stompix linked yesterday)]
Note: I had to record a video since none of those fake reviews appear if you try to archive them!

if those were fake why would we add some bad ones?
To make them appear as genuine reviews, duh!

1899  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-11-05] Lawmakers Urge SEC to Permit Trading of Bitcoin Spot ETFs on: November 05, 2021, 11:14:55 AM
They have a lot of valid points, but I just read in another article that might have something to do with "submitting Form 19b-4" and getting it approved.

  • As someone with limited knowledge in this field, I wonder why should Spot ETFs be under a different regulatory framework?

One of the biggest differences between the two types of ETFs lies in the regulatory framework, as they both go through different pathways. Physical ETFs are ruled via the 1933 Securities Act process, which requires exchanges to file a Form 19b-4 to show that the underlying market is not subject to manipulation. In contrast, futures-based ETFs are ruled via the 1940 Investment Company act and therefore do not require the same form.

Found a minor bug when calculating large numbers [halfway through, it randomly alters the numbers]: Video link

I'd like to ask is it ok putting ads on this tool or the donation is just ok
It'd probably look better without the ads, but there's no harm in trying to get a bit more for your efforts.
