1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TV Commercials & How they attracting more clients in crypto industry. on: October 26, 2021, 01:20:55 PM
In this match the most interesting fact was the commercial advertisement that was getting flashed in between every over was about the Crypto Wallets and exchangers.
Based on what you've described, it seems that there were no repetitive commercials on each of the breaks and that significantly reduces its impact!

I am wondering how this helping the crypto space since, with millions of peeps watching this ad some of them must have searched for it, started using after it and what not.
It depends on how they'd use those apps/services!

- If most of the converted users, use those wallets and exchanges to create accounts or wallets for little activities and insignificant amounts, then it'd have little to no impact!

Does your country has such commercials,
It doesn't but from time to time, they mention BTCitcoin on Movies/TV shows!
1942  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Additional Requirement from CoinsPh on: October 25, 2021, 05:50:09 PM
The problem is, plan ko din mag benta ng BTC maybe by 2022 (~P100,000) pero natatakot ako na baka biglang ma-hold ito or anything whatsoever. Meron ba kayong tips or experience if ever mag cash out ako ng ganitong halaga?
Kahit na naka address verified [level 3] yung account mo, may chance na ifaflag nila yung transaction mo [automated process] once magbago bigla yung behavior ng account mo [e.g. iwithdraw yung buong laman ng wallet while it was mostly used for depositing money]!
- Mas maganda kung mag withdraw/cash out ka in smaller increments para mas safe ka [the same goes for depositing a significant amount].
1943  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Liquid nitrogen cooling system on: October 25, 2021, 03:53:25 PM
To use liquid nitrogen to cool the mining equipment.
Liquid nitrogen is not expensive. The most expensive part is storage silo, but we can try build one instead.
How can you "efficiently" maintain the temperatures to deal with different hashrates and voltages/wattages at the same time [e.g. different ASIC mining rigs]?
- If you overcool them, it might damage some of the components!

Its not just an idea. I can build one for you.

Looking for investors or a contract.
You'd probably have a better chance of finding an investor if you had a working model [prototype] but regardless of that, try to move this thread to either the "Project Development" board or "Securities" [you might get better responses].
- Move button is in the bottom left corner of the page.
1944  Economy / Reputation / Re: Would you consider the following things as concrete proof for connection? on: October 25, 2021, 01:30:21 PM
both of them breaking bumping rules on the same days,
I completely forgot that part [thank you for mentioning it] and despite having a point in regards to these things not being enough, I think I can utilize that information to report them for breaking that rule numerous times!
- I do know that at first, he/she would probably just get a warning but judging by his/her behavior, I wouldn't be surprised to see that the user in question, ignores them as well and that is where I'm hoping for the moderators to hit the nuke or ban button!

1945  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Litecoin Foundation 18k Gold Ledger S on: October 25, 2021, 11:33:06 AM
I wanted to get the communities thoughts on this one.
~Snipped~
potentially making a similar design but out of 999 silver as a limited release.
That makes more sense on so many levels [e.g. price, color and etc...] and at one point, they "were considering it", but not sure what happened.

I would love to know the whole story on this and if anyone in the community actually has one.
You might want to contact Charlie Lee [coblee] about it [here's his "tweet"]. AFAICS, it didn't have any story behind its creation [unless I missed it somehow].

The following information might come in handy:

1946  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinmarketcap hacked on: October 25, 2021, 08:14:15 AM
I don't know when this incident happened, but the fact that they didn't even make an announcement, or even send an email to their user base, says a lot about how they consider the members using their service
They first confirmed [not sure where exactly] it on October 12 and according to mk4's post, it took them 11 days to make that announcement while posting around 100 articles [can't tell the exact number due to how they display the dates after a week] on that period [SMH]!

it will not be easy to deceive them with phishing links.
But it's not impossible either.
1947  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: October 25, 2021, 05:56:42 AM
I really like the current setup at "Cryptios [the parts that I can see]", and I would love to know from where I could order that "proof of beats" art?
- Am I correct to assume that you're planning to giveaway t-shirts soon? Smiley

And hey, what's that cardboard Bitcointalk Community Awards tube?  I actually tried scanning the QR code, but it didn't work.
It goes to the following thread: Bitcointalk Community Awards [Results of the Year + Quiz]
1948  Economy / Reputation / Would you consider the following things as concrete proof for connection? on: October 24, 2021, 07:23:54 PM
I've been keeping tabs on two accounts [DarkFlameMaster69 and bookmoniez] for the past month or so [I wanted to find a better proof, but had no luck] and I have a strong feeling that both of them are connected...
- Both of them have similar patterns [they keep on ignoring everyone while bumping their threads "a few minutes/seconds apart from each other"].

In addition to what I said, there's the following thing as well [I removed all of the banned accounts from the list]:

I'm wondering if that's enough to connect "DarkFlameMaster69" with other remaining active accounts and hopefully see them getting nuked?

1949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Going public saying you own Bitcoin is not safe anymore on: October 24, 2021, 04:21:46 PM
No body but my father knows that I know of Bitcoin and other Cryptos and own a little.

He never talks about it to anyone and neither do I.
I wouldn't be so sure if I were you! My father said the exact same thing, but somehow I kept receiving questions about BTCitcoin from his friends Angry

I treat Bitcoin as treasure. If you find treasure, you don't go around telling people about it.
I wouldn't be surprised if most of us would've done the same if we were that young!

but if you are silent doing your business and other thing over the net then you are safe from those kind of people.
Anything that touches the internet, isn't safe [unfortunately]!

4 years for physical assault and kidnapping of minors - these people are obviously eating some weird mushrooms and using drugs - they should have given him more recognition because he didn't kill the child and because the ransom was only £900 - maybe work for the common good in the royal palace Shocked
You have a point but initially, the ransom in question was "£10,000" + they needed to make an example of him.

those kidnappers are a dumbass. they asked for £10k but ended up agreeing to £900
Credit to his mother for having good negotiation skills Wink

but people I know irl like my family or friends I dont have an issue with telling them.
What makes you think the next person that they'd share that information with, wouldn't turn out to be the person that would rob you in the future?!

so why is he not asking for BTC as ransom,
That would've complicated the whole situation on so many levels.

What is important now is that he wasn't hurt and the suspect was apprehended already.
There are still three more on the loose!
1950  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: October 24, 2021, 01:00:51 PM
And I didn't hurt any finger even once! Wink
That should also be one of the main reasons for using a Blockmit jig Wink

I appreciate the sketch, but I am not sure I understand it except of 'well, align it with the edges of the washer', or am I missing something? Huh
Sorry, I should've been clearer but I believe you got it right [e.g. no uneven sides when you check the spaces from the top].
1951  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-08-10] AMC will accept bitcoin as payment for movie tickets by year end on: October 23, 2021, 07:00:37 PM
However, would larping be the only positive way cryptocoins would be useful for them?
It has to be [assuming that I understood what you exactly meant by "larping" (I had to google for its synonyms)]... I can't see any other way for cryptocurrencies to be useful for them.

AMC also wants to create its own scamcoin to dump on the community.
~Snipped~
Now the movie theater chain may even be looking to roll out its own coin.
I wouldn't necessarily label their future cryptocurrency or token as a scam coin [it might have some benefits for their customers] but having said that, I also wouldn't be surprised if they'd have an ulterior motive behind its creation!
1952  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: October 23, 2021, 02:39:44 PM
but doesn't a channel need a certain number of subscribers, views, and comments before it can earn commissions from YouTube or from the ads?
You're almost right [apart for the comments and partially for the views], but they could also offer something along the lines of auctioned ad spots on this forum and offer overlay ad spots for certain parts of the video [AFAIK, there's no issue with offering such ads, as long as they're labeled properly].
1953  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying stuff with Dogecoin or Bitcoin on: October 23, 2021, 07:14:45 AM
Can't get either of them to work.
You might want to provide more details [what type of error and etc...]!

Does anyone know of one or more ways I can just do a Crypto to FiatUSD conversion and then just buy the stuff with dollars?
Here's a workaround [it's a bit outdated so make sure to DYOR first]: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards
Note: Make sure that the vendor in question, accepts that type of payment and I prefer to not vouch for any of the providers on the above list.

you send over the crypto using your favorite wallet,
From what I've understood, only some of the wallets are supported [IIRC, it had something to do with the way they displayed their invoices]:

1954  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam] Chivo Bitcoin wallet fake on: October 22, 2021, 06:24:09 PM
This is hands down, the strangest fake wallet app I've ever seen... Apart from its name, it doesn't even try to imitate the look of the original app [it uses images from the BRD wallet instead]!
- Great catch @notblox1.

It's quite the opposite; Google is not strict at all regarding apps they allow on Play Store.
This! The same goes for their ads [unfortunately].
1955  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first time using a Bitcoin ATM on: October 22, 2021, 02:22:57 PM
I was asked a phone number for a verification code
The brand of the ATM was localcoin
Out of curiosity, why didn't you just stick to the "instacoin" BTM machine instead?
- At least that one would've not asked to verify your phone number for a hundred dollars!

I don't think your wallet gets linked to your phone number after such a trade.
You're right, but your address does!

i initially thought its only meant to perform transactions without the ability to accept cash or dispense cash,
Almost all of them come with at least one of those features.
1956  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X Battery Pandemic on: October 22, 2021, 11:54:16 AM
I don't trust ledger at all,
Same here! I just noticed that they've "silently" removed [sometime in the past two weeks] a paragraph that mentioned their so-called "new Nano X production line"...

Now let's check out recent reports from ledger reddit after last update:
1957  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: October 22, 2021, 10:34:49 AM

AAVE, MKR at Uni. Tama nga kayo na Uniswap yung idadagdag.
Mali pala ako dun sa pangalawa [akalako "Ankr"]. Out of curioisity, meron ba dito gumagamit ng AAVE at MKR regularly [base sa nabasa ko, tungkol ito sa loan stuff]?
1958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Walmart Sells Bitcoin on: October 22, 2021, 09:04:13 AM
buyers are allowed to buy small amounts of Bitcoin for as long as they're paying with paper bills. The downside, however, is that you are required to setup a CoinMe account which requires KYC.
~Snipped~
Do you think this will be successful?
I don't think it'll be a huge success, due to the fact that it requires its users to go through a KYC process for "insignificant amounts" while there are other BTM brands that only require KYC after reaching a certain limit!

At least until they go to send those coins somewhere and see the fees eat all their money.
But fees "aren't that high" at the moment.

At least people who go into wallmart and find empty shelves will likely just buy BTC.
Care to explain the connection between those two things?

why they are available only in some stores
Because it's in the pilot stage.
1959  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger nano X discount on: October 21, 2021, 05:17:03 PM
I'm looking to grab a Ledger Nano X and was wondering, do they usually do any promos on Halloween? If so, how low do they usually go?
Based on their Twitter feed, they didn't offer a Halloween promo code last year, but if you can wait a little more, their Black Friday promos usually run from mid-November until the end of the month...

but as I see it is supposed to be solved
From what I've understood, the firmware update only fixes the "temperature error" while the main battery problem [hardware issue] still remains [unfortunately]!
1960  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: October 21, 2021, 08:11:21 AM
I don't think the main purpose of the jig is to hold the washer in place. Otherwise, of course a clamp would do a good job easily.
I forgot to add "to an extent" when I said it'd defeat the purpose of printing it [my bad].

since jig holds the bit perfectly perpendicular and you can re-stamp in the exact same location.
You have a point but you can still get good results without the jig [or a tool bit boring bar and a holder], provided that you don't have a hand & arm tremor and as for the re-stamping part [CMIIW], I don't think there's a need for one if you hit it three to four times with enough force [in quick succession].

Secondly, the jig helps you align the rotation and spacing between letters. So no letter ends up tilted to one side or way too close to another.
Since the majority of the letter stamps, come with right-angled [or squarish] shafts, then with a proper technique you can still get almost perfect results in round shape washers...

  • This should be the view from the top:

There's no doubt that the "Blockmit jig" is a great product, but you can still achieve good results without having one!
