2161  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Gift cards providers on: September 08, 2021, 04:52:38 PM
Unfortunately, however, a minimum purchase is required to use (smaller) altcoins.

For example if you want to use Binance Coin or Binance USD you need to shop for at least 0.7 BNB, which is currently about $250.
I believe one of their payment processors [CoinGate] should take the blame instead and they also have similar restrictions when it comes to higher amounts.
- As a workaround, you can use Binance Pay [if you're one of its users].

Update:
It appears so. For some reason, CoinGate is pulling that amount from Changelly? https://support.coingate.com/en/66/what-is-the-minimum-amount-for-altcoin-payments
That's strange! Just did a test and that's exactly the case: Screenshot
2162  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Faketoshi CSW vs Cøbra Bitcoin on: September 08, 2021, 03:38:08 PM
they fixed a hearing to hear his appeal.
Does anybody know when is the hearing?

This could turn into one of those Faketoshi v Faketoshi cases, but with this crazy corrupted legal system we have, judge can decide anything they want.
I wouldn't be surprised if the original Faketoshi [CSW] comes out as a winner [I remember reading somewhere that he has a habit of paying for... you know... stuff Roll Eyes].
2163  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Promoter of BitConnect Pleads Guilty in Global $2 Billion Crypto Scam on: September 08, 2021, 12:01:56 PM
I agree to disagree, at least we have one who has been caught, pleaded guilty ask to pay the victims and going to jail, I think there is justice already.
You have a point, it's better than nothing.

Ah damn, I was expecting Carlos Matos to be featured since he's basically the "face" of it.
Hopefully they only prosecute those who were actually at the top though, since some promoters were legitimately just sucked in and brainwashed.
No less than that, because for me personally, such people have to be permanently isolated from society because of the possibility that they will try something similar again, and such people are very difficult to change.
I agree with Lucius's comment and speaking of "being isolated from the society" and "one of the known promoters [e.g. Carlos Matos]", if I'm recalling the details of his "last interview" correctly, basically he's still doing the same thing [teaching others how and where to invest and etc... while charging ridiculous amounts]. I do know he wasn't directly connected to Bitconnect, but IMO, he also deserves to be in jail.

Is he the meme guy that was shouting Bitconnect? Or this is another person,
No, refer to "UserU's" post.
2164  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Asset Management Platform - what do you think? on: September 08, 2021, 10:59:36 AM
Thanks for the quick look! Really appreciate this.
You're very welcome Smiley

And you are absolutely right, there is currently no way to add notes to each trade, but we will add this to the backlog (and probably open it for the wider audience for the voting).
I like the idea of adding features based on the votes, but it seems that the discord link has expired [screenshot].

Also, what do you mean by expanding the base currency/cryptocurrency? my guess is that you would not only calculate in BTC and USD, but also in ETH (as an example). Is that the case?
Yes, that's exactly the case [other cryptocurrency and fiat currencies].

Btw, are you planning to come up with an app as well [I'm asking because of the unlinked logos of the Google Play and the App Store]?
2165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador official wallet app @chivowallet go offline on: September 08, 2021, 09:17:45 AM
They just have to work on getting better servers,
This... I wonder why most of the apps that are tied to the governments [not just El Salvador] have limited or rather unreasonably low server capacities?

Is it custodial or non-custodial wallet?
I believe it's a custodial wallet.

Anyone has been able to check the Chivo wallet? Let's share it, please.
I'm not an iOS user, but here's the link: Chivo Wallet
- At the moment, it's #5 in the Finance category, but earlier in the day it "was #1".

So you have to be a citizen to register for a wallet (makes sense).
And here's where it gets tricky:

  • Some users reported issues sending the funds credited to their accounts. It appears that the initial $30 can only be sent to other Chivo users and merchants rather than to other wallets outside the Chivo ecosystem. Some have taken to Twitter to post possible workarounds to allow users to withdraw the $30. They claim the funds must pass through a few Chivo-to-Chivo transactions before they're unlocked for withdrawal.
    ~Snipped~
Matt Ahlborg, head of research at Bitrefill, tweeted his test of the Chivo functionality. He found the $30 in BTC could be sent off-chain after three to five Chivo-to-Chivo transactions and Lightning payments can be sent to and from the wallets.
2166  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X Battery Pandemic on: September 07, 2021, 06:23:27 PM
that will however probably void your warranty Cheesy
With a proper prying tool, they would never know you've opened it Cheesy

Looks like one of their assembly workers intentionally [it has to be, based on the number of reports I'm seeing here] pushed the battery connectors down, so it doesn't make that much contact!
2167  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Help Making S19 Quieter on: September 07, 2021, 04:39:45 PM
When I close it, the S19 promptly overheats.

I have shrouds to connect the fans to the ducting but I wanted to keep air going to the power supply.
The main reason for the overheating part is due to the fact that the hot air is getting trapped in the cooler! It doesn't matter even if you've perfectly aligned the intake and outtake fans to both of those holes [air moves a lot slower when there's an empty space between them].

Note: I haven't mined in a very long time, so make sure to do more research on what I'm about to suggest.

  • In theory, you should be able to detach the PSU [e.g. like how Bitmain did for "S17/S17 Pro"] and install it outside with some kind of bracket, then make sure there's no empty space between the fans and the holes.
    - BTW, I don't think using a shroud to connect the fans to the ducting parts would be enough [most of the air would still pass through], so try to extend the insulated ducting instead [e.g. it should cover everything like in this picture].

When signup supposed to be free if the investment is real and legit,
Having no signup fee isn't a good indication that such platforms aren't a scam [most of the HYIP/Ponzi schemes that I've seen, didn't require anything upon signing up].

In regards to the creator [Mhlanga] having a South African number on WhatsApp, I did post something last week that also applies to this case [unfortunately]:
- It'll be really hard to track him down!

  • It takes less than a dollar to register a WhatsApp account with a number from Nigeria or another country [for the most part] and in regards to his accent, with some practice, most of us could "easily" imitate their accent!
    - FYI: I'm not Nigerian and I'm trying to only lay out some of the possibilities.
2169  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB - EU - Out of order / Broken Mining GPU for art project. on: September 07, 2021, 12:17:51 PM
I'm looking for dead mining GPU's for an art project, it'd be nice if the fans could still turn but not a big deal if they don't I guess.
Even if there are some part missing that's not a big deal, i'm mainly interested by the shell with fans.
Since it's just an art project, then you should probably consider 3D printing the GPU shell while using a real fan, as opposed to printing that part as well [it's way cheaper]:

It's not that hard to learn how to design the shell with free websites like "Tinkercard", then hire someone to print those parts for you.
- Based on the type of GPU shell that you're after, the whole process might be easier/harder.

Update:
Hey, thanks for your answer, I didn't thought about 3D printing.
You're very welcome Smiley

We have 3D printers in my art school so it's an easy plan b ahah.
Best of luck Wink
2170  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador has just bought it’s first 200 coins on: September 07, 2021, 10:33:06 AM
I believe in totality, President Nayib Bukele has done a lot of good for the country and the citizens and the lots that are still against it will catch up later once they see what Bitcoins investment will bring to the country.
I have huge respect based on what he has done so far [with an exception for the Chivo app (he "might" have an ulterior motive)], but he should really focus now on educating those that have no idea about what BTCitcoin is [according to a recent survey, 2/3rd of them are against its usage and that mainly has to do with the fact that there's limited knowledge among the elderly population].

The purchase is part of a new $150 million Bitcoin fund passed last week by El Salvador’s Congress. The fund will be used to facilitate conversions from BTC to United States dollars in the lead-up to the new law being implemented. At current prices, the BTC purchase was worth just over $10.36 million.
I believe that means they'll be using the remaining $140ishM to purchase "only" BTCitcoins [that's a lot of BTCitcoins].
2171  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-01] Twitter Beta Testing Bitcoin Tipping Feature on: September 07, 2021, 08:44:09 AM
But I'm sure as soon this concept starts being executed for real, there will appear middlemen services working as a bridge between the platform and users, so everyone can enjoy the benefits of the new twitter's feature, doesn't matter where they are from.
Even though in theory, that's possible, I still don't think Twitter would allow such a thing to exist for a long time.

There are independent tipping bots on Twitter (no KYC etc.) already, for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

https://twitter.com/satoshi_LN_bot for Bitcoin via Lightning.
If only the redemption process didn't come with an expiration time, it would've been a lot more popular.

Where have you seen that? There are only 3 tweets available and the account has only 20 followers currently, I think it's just the own account of aoluain IMO.
Here you go:

2172  Economy / Services / Re: In need of a Job on: September 06, 2021, 06:37:05 PM
I thought this forum would be of help .
It's a bit more complicated than that, but in addition to what hilariousandco mentioned, you can also try some of the following platforms: Freelancing platforms which pay in Bitcoin
Note: I'm not vouching for any of the above platforms [DYOR prior to using any of them].
2173  Economy / Services / Re: [Service] 3D Printing Service EU on: September 06, 2021, 04:09:17 PM
I made myself a Excel chart where I plug in the time & material weight + pre- (digital, if needed) and post-processing (physical, if needed) times & it spits out something. Then I round it up for my 3D printer piggybank Wink
I'm impressed Wink

Also do note that depending on license I might not be allowed to print some of the files ('non-commercial' licenses etc.)
I totally forgot about that part [my bad]... Looks like I have to learn how to design those myself, so I did some digging and found "Tinkercad [I didn't find anything against commercial usage, so it should be fine]".
- I did a test (screenshot [I'm just a beginner]) and it appeared to be a lot easier than I thought it would be [I'll be messing around for now, but I'll contact you next week for a quote].

BTW, whenever you decide to upload those pictures, kindly follow the format from "this [e.g. your name and the date on a piece of paper]" thread Smiley

Update:
Cool, have fun with Tinkercad! Looks like a keychain?
I will, thank you Smiley It's just random shapes and my name Grin
2174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Second largest German investment company invests in Bitcoin from Q4 2021 on: September 06, 2021, 02:15:09 PM
Maybe this is some kind of new story for me since only today I heard that before they go into an investment they will announce it.
Based on tyz's comment and the following translation, there was a "pilot test" before they chose to dive in [Q4]:

if they do that, someone will surely put some money and will withdraw it as soon as the market will explode with this massive investment?
Not sure if I understood everything that you just said, but from where I am, you can't withdraw/pull out everything prior to the length/duration of the contract [there will be penalties].

What are bitcoin certificates? Is it like a derivative instrument where no physical bitcoins are transferred?
Is this another shitty Bitcoin derivative, like Bitcoin futures or some other financial assets, which are(or claim to be) backed by Bitcoin?
Based on the following article about investments in Germany, I believe both of you are correct [unfortunately]:

Zertifikate - certificates or instruments using derivatives to reflect movements in indices or markets
2175  Economy / Services / Re: [Service] 3D Printing Service EU on: September 06, 2021, 12:26:24 PM
Prices depend really a lot on the model itself, that's why I can't give fixed numbers. It's not just size or weight, also geometry and potential work I might need to do on the files to make them print well for example.
All of those are valid points, but how about having an hourly rate [just for the printing part], apart from the expenses in regards to the filament types and everything else that you mentioned?

potential work I might need to do on the files to make them print well for example.
Assuming that the STL files came from "Thingiverse", does it still require some sort of adjustment from your end?

For Bitcoin related items, I also charge less than for other items,
That's interesting Smiley Is there a percentage?

As I said, it's just something I do in my spare time so I don't need to make a lot of money off it. Just for material and electricity mostly.
I believe there's no post-processing, am I right?
2176  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Question] Bounty and Alt Account Connection on: September 06, 2021, 10:18:55 AM
@joeperry
I made a "somewhat" similar thread a few years back [some of the responses would come in handy]: A question regarding duplicate/alt accounts that join bounties!

[1] Anyone can use the bounty manager's address or anyone's address with their multiple entries and newly created account to destroy reputation and of course they will be reported and how will the DT will handle such thing since there's no way to know whether the report is real or not.
In addition to some of the above comments, @Welsh made a good point as well:

  • Due diligence needs to be taken whenever anyone is considering tagging anyone. Your case example has almost certainly happened, but there should be other things to consider. For example, post history is normally a good indicator. People are their own downfalls to habits. We all have habits, and unique styles of writing.

There's also the possibility of doing time analysis to identify whether the alleged connected accounts timing links up together. It's not really same address = connected.

[2] Some users will intentionally transfer some funds to some certain addresses such as the manager's address or other user's address and report it that it's connected to their account.
But they can't sign a message [unless we're dealing with a compromised private key] from those addresses, so it doesn't matter Wink
2177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would bitcoin still go far if it was private on: September 06, 2021, 08:35:13 AM
if it was a private blockchain network where only selected users could contribute to the network after been verified and authenticated would bitcoin still go this far.
No, it would not go that far and most likely, they would still be mining with their GPUs until now [e.g. no point in mass-producing ASIC rigs for a select few].
- I only used one example out of many!

My fear now is considering the digital currency that would be released and that is already in circulation from different countries operating on both private or permissionsed block chain would it be safe to invest in them.
None of the CBDCs should be used as investment assets. Their value is tied to the fiat currency that they're representing and some of them [e.g. China] even limits the amount each individual could hold on their wallets.
- They have the ability to confiscate or freeze your coins; in other words, it would be better to just hold cash, instead of using any of the CBDCs!
2178  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Strange error while using my Trezor wallet with the RBF feature on Suite on: September 05, 2021, 06:56:37 PM
For your RBF issue you can send them feedback directly from wallet or you can create issue on their github page.
Since I didn't know my way around GitHub, I went with the former [as stated in my previous update]... Am I supposed to wait until they get back to me through the Trezor Suite [a notification of some sort] or I should do something else?
- It has been more than 24 hours since I've reported it as a bug and it didn't give me anything to follow up on.

Seems like it's a common error that not only affects Trezor when there are issues with imperfect code. Take a look at this thread back from 2017:
https://github.com/trezor-graveyard/trezor-chrome-extension/issues/12
Thank you, you're right [it's a common error (in general)]... I've also seen that report prior to creating this thread yesterday and since it doesn't involve the Trezor Suite and the RBF feature, then perhaps something else might've caused it.
2179  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Dogetrix - HYIP/Ponzi scheme on: September 05, 2021, 02:19:04 PM
So old scheme which I think will not succeed here,
I wouldn't be so sure about that [unfortunately].

also good think this one immediately exposed here since this could be reference for new comers to not invest on this or the same site which offer to good to be true profits to the people who's going to invest with them.
Unfortunately, most of the newcomers tend to completely ignore the signs [even those with active type 2/3 flags and profile warnings] and on top of that, registrars like NameCheap have been ignoring most of the reports lately [not sure why]!

Look who just came back "after being inactive for the past 10 months"?
- They're probably connected [no concrete proof].
2180  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Slovenian crypto tax proposition on: September 05, 2021, 12:35:23 PM
or alternatively pay 25 % on the profit you make.
In regards to anyone that chooses the above option while receiving their wages in cryptocurrencies, what will happen if they immediately convert it to fiat [little to no profit]? No tax [apart from the €15k limit]?

The 10% on cashing out probably means the end of any ATMs there, adding with their usual 5%-10% fee it will probably send a lot of sellers in the loss sector if that 10% is calculated on the base value that has been converted.
Not sure about the current BTM fees in there, but this would probably lead to an increase in BTM fees, as opposed to halting the operations.
