2221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as primary currency on: August 28, 2021, 02:52:29 PM
Please, what do you advise I do in other to hold at least 80% of my salary in bitcoin?
Not sure why you prefer to add unnecessary steps and make everything way more complicated than they need to be, but to achieve something like that [it doesn't cover everything that you want], you can try a service called "BitWage".
Note: I've never tried it before and from what I've read, it has mixed reviews [e.g. delays and etc...], so DYOR before using such platforms.
2222  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why? on: August 28, 2021, 09:45:42 AM
"Other wallets" like Coinbase aren't in the list because those are not actually wallets but a custodial service where that company is the actual hodler of your coins.
As much as I hate Coinbase, I have to mention they've created a non-custodial wallet [not sure when they've introduced it] that it isn't directly connected to their Coinbase app [it has a different icon as well]:
- Despite saying the above things, I still wouldn't recommend "any" of their services.

  • The Coinbase app, where you buy and sell crypto, is a hosted wallet. You can also download the standalone Coinbase Wallet app to take advantage of the benefits of a non-custodial wallet.
  • Coinbase Wallet is a user-controlled, non-custodial product. The app generates a 12 word recovery phrase which is what gives you, and only you, access to your account to move received funds. Coinbase will never have access to this seed, meaning that we cannot move funds on your behalf even if you lose access to your recovery phrase.

I want to open a wallet that is relatively easy to use ant that is secure compared to other available counterparts.
When it comes to its security, it heavily depends on how secure both of your devices are.

Update:
Yes, I have mentioned "Coinbase" which is different from their non-custodial wallet: "Coinbase Wallet".
Sorry, I thought you were referring to them as a single wallet/app.

- Pag naapprove nila yun, baka gumawa din sila ng platfrom kung saan mas maging madali yung conversion process, at the expense of monitoring everyone for taxes.

Iclarify ko lang yung unang sagot ko tungkol sa taxes was about cryptocurrency earnings in general, as opposed to yung nakalagay sa subject field.
2224  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Trying to start a new CSGO Skins marketplace that deals in crypto on: August 27, 2021, 04:32:03 PM
I want the marketplace to be anonymous so that users can feel safe when selling their expensive skins.
How are you going to tackle the issue surrounding the need to sign in/log in through steam?

Do you have any advice on how I could handle crypto transactions automatically between users
I'm not a back-end coder or a developer by any means, but I think [don't quote me on this one] you can achieve those with the help of an API:

2225  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor wallet set up confusion on: August 27, 2021, 01:16:55 PM
However, I notice that there is no mention of "Trezor Bridge" here (maybe later? have not got that far). He just downloads "Trezor Suite"...
AFAICR, I haven't installed Trezor Bridge, but apparently, there's a small difference: Which one should I use? Trezor Wallet/Bridge or Trezor Suite?

Another point: Trezor obviously works on Windows 8. But nowhere does it say expressly that you CANNOT. So what if you go ahead and then there are issues? Should there not be a clear and specific warning?
On "this" link, it says "Windows 10 and newer" and found someone that indirectly "mentioned" it didn't work in windows 7 [most likely the same goes for windows 8].

Best of luck Wink
2226  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor wallet set up confusion on: August 27, 2021, 12:12:04 PM
So which is it? Which route do I take?
Not sure about the Windows 8 support, but there's a manual in the package that says "getting started" and the recommended setup is, connecting it to your computer, then visit "trezor.io/start [redirects to "this" link]" and in the end, simply follow the instructions.
- Personally, I'm using the trezor suite as well.
2227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BLACKMAIL on: August 27, 2021, 11:31:10 AM
Hi, i received a blackmail mail the 26th july, with a bitcoin adress supposed to be the one
of the blackmailer. Is there a way to signal it ?

Here is the adress :
14hAMscYjeKe9WCfCHJXDgJ8SH1pg84GhX
Not sure what you meant by signaling it, but that address has been reported multiple times on the following websites:

2228  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Nagbabayad na ba kayo ng tax sa earnining ninyo sa Axie Infinity? on: August 27, 2021, 09:34:12 AM
Dahil mas lalong sumikat ang Axie Infinity sa Pinas, nakita na ito ng BIR at gusto ng i implement ang tax dito.
I expected this to happen [unfortunately].

Mas maganda kung mag hire ka ng tao para gawin nila [usually, they'll charge a fixed fee instead of a certain percentage].
2229  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-08-26] Bitcoin ATM operators set up association to counter money launderi on: August 26, 2021, 07:01:08 PM
Major Bitcoin (BTC) ATM operators in the United States are joining forces to fight illicit activity related to Bitcoin ATMs.

Bitcoin ATM operators DigitalMint and Coinsource have launched the Cryptocurrency Compliance Cooperative (CCC), a new association that aims to establish compliance standards for the Bitcoin ATM industry.
Personally, I have nothing against them but I wouldn't call a BTM operator with around 2.2% - 2.5% market share [according to "BTM tracking website" - as stated in that article] as Major!
- By doing that, they'll be shooting themselves in the foot [referring to BTM operators and some of the involved banks]: More requirements = Less customers
2230  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor shipping oddities on: August 26, 2021, 05:51:12 PM
Then, for a full 48 hours, it just sat at Depo Nový Jičín 70, which I thought was strange.
~Snipped~
But 24 hours later, the shipping has not appeared on the German system
~Snipped~
"Please note that it may take up to 3 days until the order appears in your local provider's system."
But that is now 72 hours when an order of a very important item (!) has been "off the radar".
You might want to pay attention to the type of impact, non-business days could have on the delivery itself.

and there are no/will be no further updates on the German system.
Have you tried tracking it with a universal tracker like "17track"?

Any need for concern?
I've purchased mine using a local official reseller, so I'm not going to pretend I know everything, but I still wouldn't worry...
- Worst case scenario: Customs doesn't clear it [highly unlikely unless you're in the Philippines] and just sends it back to them > they'll send you a full refund.

On "this" page, it mentions the "standard shipping" time as "five days to six weeks" for the European countries:
- There's also a "UPS tracking" page on the following link [might show something if they've used it].

2231  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Spanish Police Raid Suburban House Allegedly Running Illegal Crypto Operation, S on: August 26, 2021, 04:33:27 PM
Did they do bitcoin mining or GPU mining?
Based on the "video [skip to 0:38]" that the Police released on Aug 20, they were definitely using ASIC rigs; in other words, it's either BTCitcoin mining or a few other cryptocurrencies that also have ASICs built for them.

Does anybody know what's the nationality of the women they've arrested?
- IIRC, all of the recent incidents [three other countries] had "at least" a single Chinese national behind its operation.
2232  Other / Meta / Re: Is this New feature in bitcointalk ? on: August 26, 2021, 07:23:28 AM
If you hover your mouse over the time e.g. "Today at 13:00:57" below the title you will see the info who last edited the post.
you can check any post when it was edited, and by whom.
Out of curiosity, if a moderator edits those within the 10-minute window, is it still going to reflect below the time?

Don't that count as deleted?
~Snipped~
I'm not sure but logically there should be a PM for a thread trashed.
It doesn't. When a thread is trashed, it has simply moved to the "Trashcan" board [it's only accessible to staff, mods and admins] and global moderators or admins can easily restore it.
- IIRC, such cases won't show up in the "mod log/deletion log".
2233  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: So, i bought a BTC atm (machine) on: August 26, 2021, 05:43:58 AM
do you actually have some proof or some old article showing that story about previous owners and worker that allegedly stole coins
I also posted something about it, but it didn't have all necessary information:

https://web.archive.org/web/20171022113333/http://blog.bitxatm.com/post/150824553721/bitxatm-network-sabotage-update

You can pretty much trace all the info in the blog archive. That's as much as I got as well, and I lost 9 fucking BTC because of those incompetent fucks.
For some reason, all I see is a blank page [screenshot] and most likely that's the case with others as well, but I did manage to find an archive of their blog on another website: "Link"
2234  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Fake Innosilicon store innosilicon.us.com on: August 25, 2021, 05:28:31 PM
innosilicon.us.com website uses the same logo and design as the original https://www.innosilicon.com/ website, so that it looks similar and credible to scam people.
Always remember to archive websites [some of them frequently visit this board to cover their tracks]:

The following information might come in handy when you're reporting them:
2235  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Beware Newbie]QR Code Generator Scam on: August 25, 2021, 02:28:43 PM
To newbie out there, Beware on using QR code especially when you are just browsing on google for this service because Google also gives a scam Bitcoin QR website which is very dangerous for newbie that didn't do double check on the address that they will send funds.
Solution: Just use any of the "known" explorers that provide QR codes [e.g. Blockchain.com].

Surprisingly, the one you've used as an example has been around for a few years and its registrar [NameCheap], doesn't seem to care [unfortunately].

  • The owner [most likely]: bitcoinmanic [link]
  • OmegaStarScream reported it in 2018 [link]

2236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador rolls out 200 Bitcoin ATMs in a bid to speed-up nationwide adoption on: August 25, 2021, 01:32:00 PM
and prepare 50 bank branches across the nation to allow residents to exchange crypto for fiat easily.
~Snipped~
What do you guys think about such a move by El Salvador?
The only thing that's bothering me from this positive news, is the fact that Salvadorans will be limited to "50 bank branches" only! It would've made sense if we were just talking about the BTMs, but since banks are involved as well, then there's no reason to limit it to a certain amount of branches [either you accept it completely or not].

then I guess it's not as bad as we'd expect.
You have a point, but none of them would be able to get the "free $30 in BTCitcoin" unless they'd use the Chivo app for at least one time [there has to be an ulterior motive behind the creation of that app].
2237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is trying to register Bitcoin trademark? on: August 25, 2021, 12:12:05 PM
The USPTO page says that as of June 3 this year their application remains suspended and it looks like their appeals to progress with it are all denied.
It appears that it had the exact same status 6 months prior to that [Dec. 02, 2020], but for some reason, the overall status still remains as live/active! Am I missing something?

While not the same as 'denied' it amounts to the same thing, its just that the USPTO has not officially declared it dead yet.
Does anybody know what it takes before they could dismiss everything and declare it as dead?
2238  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-08-24] MicroStrategy splashes $177M on Bitcoin, now holds almost 109,000 on: August 25, 2021, 10:53:03 AM
MicroStrategy announced its first Bitcoin purchase back in August 2020 and has consistently added to its BTC position.
I have huge respect because of their consistency, but am I the only one that gets easily annoyed/irritated at Michael's Twitter activity?

I wonder when they will decide to stop buying BTC or when they plan to sell, what's their target if any.
The moment he stops tweeting anything about it for two straight days [a single day should already be a concern], should be an indication that they're about to sell [don't quote me on this one Cheesy].
2239  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Real or fake blockchain dot com on: August 24, 2021, 05:07:15 PM
Obviously, they are delivering the ads based on the interest history of the browser.
Sorry, I should've been more clearer, but by "those keywords", I meant those you've included inside the code tag, as opposed to what you've searched on google [perhaps that's also the case with sujonali1819].

They should have reviewed the ads manually instead of using the useless robots.

How on the earth it's not a scam by Google?
As long as they're getting paid for selling an ad spot, they'll continue accepting such ads [despite what they've said before] until someone reports it:

  • ~Snipped~
I'm still seeing a lot of those ads [mostly from the reported threads on the "Scam Accusations" board] from time to time and I'm starting to think that everything has to be automated or else they would've "easily" rejected most of those ads.
    - Having said that, usually, such ads are taken down quite quickly if someone reports them.
2240  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Real or fake blockchain dot com on: August 24, 2021, 03:53:35 PM
Can anyone confirm me that it is really from Blockchain.com or a fake page when you visit the site.
Without visiting it, I have no doubt it's a fake page:
- Surprisingly, that result didn't show up when I searched for those keywords on my end.

~Snipped~
There's one more:
  • The "i" in the word login is a lowercase "L".

I almost forgot, let's report it to their registrar:

Code:
Registrar Abuse Contact Email: abuse@godaddy.com
Registrar Abuse Contact Phone: 480-624-2505

Update [with a couple of corrections]:
Lol looks like it's a party of lowercase  "i" and lowercase "L"
Cheesy
