2001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Podcast : Bitcoin on: October 12, 2021, 11:55:19 AM
Regarding whether he is optimistic or not, you are also overly optimistic with the predictions and analysis you made?
You have a point, but I wouldn't label myself as "overly optimistic"; just slightly... At the time of this writing, the difference between Gaspar's prediction and the current price is around 43k to 93k, whereas for me is around 27k.

Is that a mistake?
Depending on how you look at it, it could be both... I have no doubt that the next generation would love it, but my issue with most of the users [newcomers] is about them seeing it as another investment asset [it's way more than that]!
- Despite joining the above contest, I couldn't care less about its price [I really mean it].
2002  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: POLYX Exchange Violated Bounty Terms (and threatened complaining hunters) on: October 11, 2021, 07:58:25 PM
I'm bringing this thread back to life, after seeing that they're [Polyx] back with a new account [cryptopence] and a thread:

- Polyx Platform: Trade and Store Cryptocurrency! [archived]
- Website [archived]

Tagged and "created a flag".
2003  Other / Meta / Re: Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API on: October 11, 2021, 02:59:52 PM
Is it possible to track the number of unique threads and somehow integrate it with the weekly/monthly polygon graphs?
- In theory [CMIIW], it shouldn't go beyond the request limit.

  • e.g. Post in the past week (10) / unique threads (2)
2004  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-10-10] Iran's power company warns of cuts due to illegal crypto mining on: October 11, 2021, 12:47:28 PM
Iranian officials regularly accuse unlicensed cryptocurrency miners of using vast amounts of electricity.
~Snipped~
Iranian news agencies have reported frequent police raids on "illegal farms" for cryptocurrency.
They're really great at accusing others but awful at catching them! Oops! I forgot they "can't" catch most of these so-called illegal farm operators due to having close ties with the government [corruption at its finest]!
- In regards to the second line, they might do a few for a show but that's nothing in comparison to the ones that they know and protect.

The same month, Iran announced a temporary ban on all cryptocurrency mining, a day after the energy minister apologised for unplanned power cuts in major cities.

Authorities lifted the ban in mid-September.
There was never really a ban [those with close ties with the government, continued their operation in that period].
- "There are always two sides to a story".
2005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can China Ban on Bitcoin have any negative effect on Bitcoin in future? on: October 11, 2021, 09:59:16 AM
but I see them going ahead to try to influence other big countries to follow their foot steps.
AFAICS, they only care about their own CBDC, so they could have full control over their citizens, and on top of that, they'd gain nothing by influencing other countries to follow in their footsteps!
- Let's assume for a second that all of the countries that already have "launched their own CBDC [5] or those that are in the pilot stages [14]" suddenly decide to ban BTCitcoin as a whole; all that does is it'd force affected people to come up with various workarounds [in other words, it defeats its purpose to an extent].
2006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Podcast : Bitcoin on: October 11, 2021, 07:34:12 AM
What do you think after seeing this incredible surge this time around how bright Bitcoin will be in the summer?
I have to point out that Gaspar was actually referring to fall/autumn, as opposed to summer [it's no longer summer in the US] but to answer your question, I think he's a bit too optimistic with those "end of the year" predictions and personally, I'm still quite confident about my "prediction back in June".

So far, staying above $50K is something we didn't expect, after the Chinese FUD managed to bring down the Bitcoin price.
Those are always going to be nothing but temporary setbacks!

We are tasked with keeping it all up to the younger generation.
Tasked by who?
2007  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is Inanomo exchange to be trusted? Supucios reviews possible SCAM on: October 10, 2021, 09:08:36 PM
Can they be trusted? It is a russian exchange.
In addition to the above comments, I found an in-depth Russian review that shows [e.g. stock photos and etc...] they're scammers: Inanomo (Inanomo) reviews - SCAM !!! [translated by Google]
- Despite not being able to use Google Translate for most of its parts [because of the pictures], it's still quite clear that no one should trust them!
2008  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph Official Thread on: October 10, 2021, 07:01:05 PM
Base sa recent tweets ni Coins.ph, mukhang may balak ulit sila na mag dagdag ng panibagong tokens:

  • First "tweet": May kaunting clue.
  • Second "tweet": Aave
  • Third "tweet": Sa tingin ko it's "Ankr [may baligtad na shadow]"
  • Fourth "tweet": Most likely "Uniswap" pero pwede rin "Axie Infinity".
    - Anu ito sa tingin ninyo?
2009  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Guide] How to run a Bitcoin Core full node for under 50 bucks! on: October 10, 2021, 05:33:43 PM
it can even be free if you have old hardware lying around.
For the most part, you're right but we have to also consider its bandwidth usage [depending on where you live and the type of internet plan that you have, it could come close to or even exceed the amount you've mentioned on the subject field].

If the machine you acquired, doesn't meet those specs, you can in many cases just add more RAM or swap the hard drive.
Without going into details, I would like to mention a couple of things to "newbies":

  • There's no problem with changing/upgrading your hard drive with another type [keep the old one], but never do a straight swap!
  • Don't go out there and purchase the cheapest one [make sure they're compatible first].

RAM: 4GB - 8GB
Not sure if the ones you've listed are the minimum requirements or not, but on "this page" it says 2GB while on "this one" it's 1GB.
2010  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] new & used ASIC miners on: October 10, 2021, 03:13:41 PM
If I personally had 20,000 something units of miners I wouldn't keep them all in the same warehouse for a variety of reasons.  Would you???
Personally, I would prefer to have all of them in a single large warehouse, as opposed to a bunch of smaller ones [it's easier to maintain it (with a proper system in place) and the overall cost would be cheaper] but having said that, you have a point [I believe you're referring more to their safety & security, as opposed to easier shipping routes].

Am I correct to assume [based on the MOQ of 10] that the new ones that you've listed, are brand new?
2011  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: WARNING: POSSIBLE BUG IN MYCELIUM WALLET: Bitcoin never showed on: October 09, 2021, 06:30:36 PM
At this point I backup the 12 word deed and decide to uninstall the app in order to see if that would allow the balance to show… now this new “account” is not showing, just my first 3 which I’ve done transactions on already.

What can I do to get those bitcoin back?
Have you tried restoring it with another wallet like Electrum [link - it also has an android version]?
- [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide]

Standard wallet > I already have a seed > Enter your seed phrases [Click the wheel button (seed option) > check BIP39] > Next > Choose the appropriate address type [legacy (1), p2sh-segwit (3), and native segwit (bc1)] > Next > Choose a password > Wait for it to sync > Click the 3-dots from the upper right corner > Addresses [look for the address in question]

(Fwiw I do have a screenshot of the address it told me to send to and proof that I sent to this address, I did not send to wrong address)
Can you double-check to see if "all" of the characters match [not only the first and last few characters]?
2012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM stolen in a liquior store on: October 09, 2021, 03:39:32 PM
Maybe this will be the new trend for criminals, breaking and stealing Bitcoin ATM across US.
Maybe, but judging by the amount of BTMs in the US, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the "one-way BTMs" have little to no cash in them!

The next level of crime will be the robbery of banks and vaults, during which robbers will not take cash and jewellery, but hardware and paper bitcoin wallets that are stored in safety deposit boxes.
Good luck in finding the seed phrases [HW] and their exact orders Cheesy

What are they going to do with the ATM, if they break into the ATM they will some fiat currency other than that they are not going to get any Bitcoin.
You have a point but if they're skilled enough, they could also disassemble it and try to sell most of the parts separately [if they're still functioning well].
2013  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] MixSafer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - Anonymize your bitcoins on: October 09, 2021, 12:48:32 PM
we will update content as soon as possible.
~Snipped~
we know our website is using duplicate text.
Not a good first impression, but at least you're not hiding it [let us know when you're done with the changes (I believe that means more than half of the content on your homepage alone)]!

You might want to consider adding support for Native SegWit addresses [BECH32 (P2WPKH)].

What brings down the "commission fee"?
2014  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [10-09-2021] Google to Help Digital Asset Platform Bakkt Introduce Crypto on: October 09, 2021, 10:50:34 AM
Bakkt explained that “users will be able to add their virtual Bakkt Visa Debit Card into Google Pay to purchase everyday goods and services online, in-store, or wherever Google Pay is accepted.”
Unfortunately, this is limited to those that are "residing in the United States".
- If only we could've used our "Google Play balance for contactless payments", then none of these partnerships/collaborations would've mattered [with the help of crypto platforms that sell gift cards].

Cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin will be converted to fiat currency for these payments to occur, the company clarified.
Does anybody know how much fee/percentage they'd be charging for the conversion part?
2015  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Expose] Multi-mining.net Hype Project on: October 08, 2021, 04:49:33 PM
@Leviathan.007
It looks quite similar to one of your other recent exposed threads [Fastradin.com], so they're probably connected [both of them are using the same registrar as well].

I managed to find a few more "scam/fake" websites that are probably connected to those two:
- All of them use the same template as the above two while also having almost the same content in them.

What will happen to your portfolios
~Snipped~
and the noble Bitcoin in that wallet will it go into the network without accessibility.
Let's assume for a second that I'm one of those users that "only" see BTCitcoin as an investment asset [FYI, I'm not], I would probably prepare and leave enough clues [as soon as I started to invest] for my family members so they could easily retrieve and use those investments.

Imagine after gathering all the coins you can afford to gather and no one can access your wallet should in case something terrible occurs will the investment still worth all the time and effort devoted to acquire them?
The answer to that depends on the reason behind starting that journey [in most cases, it'll be "NO"].
2017  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: U.S. Sentencing Commission and Bitcoin on: October 08, 2021, 12:40:54 PM
so that judges and prosecutors have more information - in this case about Bitcoin. Examples of fraud/crimes are usually presented, in which Bitcoin or other crypto was used for the purpose.
I really hate seeing how they always try to find different ways to put emphasis on that point and by doing so, in most cases it'd change the point of view of the ones you've mentioned above towards BTCitcoin.

Additional information on the topic: The US Department of Justice has created a team to investigate crimes related to cryptocurrencies.
I wouldn't mind seeing more people on that field, as long as it doesn't lead to "any" kind of collateral damage!
2018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshi symbol on: October 08, 2021, 09:42:04 AM
It's worth noting that the part that it said "Japanese" isn't accurate:

  • Quote
Reminiscent of the Japanese aesthetic, the closest character being 丰
    - If you copy that character in Google translate, it'll show up as Chinese [credit goes to @thatzenboi].

The main one that they came up with resembles an ab roller [a bit weird] but having said that, I do like the one with an "S" shape.
2019  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Hardware wallets on: October 08, 2021, 08:35:47 AM

2020  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Widget on Android on: October 07, 2021, 05:40:25 PM
Here's my feedback after trying it with an android emulator:

  • It would've been better if it had lower refresh rates [e.g. 1 minute, as opposed to the lowest that's 15 minutes] while it "prevents the device from sleeping [one of the app permissions]".
    - Not sure if that's a limitation by Coingecko's API or it'd be one of the features that'd come with the premium version [if there would be any].
  • For its "click action" feature, you might want to consider introducing one tap and two taps actions:
    • One tap = Open setting page
    • Two taps = Refresh widget

Note: I prefer to not vouch for such apps, but it looks promising.
