2761  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: February 21, 2014, 08:21:39 AM
Well at least you got one small part right - unlike you, who apparently is aimlessly continuing to come to this topic and post even tho you have no order with BA, I do have an agenda - it is to get answers to questions that havent been answered yet, because I have an active order with BA. Actually it would seem that I'm totally insane because i have 2 orders.

Which is exactly the reason why I asked you to chill the hell down with your conspiracies (i'm not even putting that  word in brackets!) so my question can get seen by BA. It's a simple question - one that should not be uncomfortable for them.

You say i could be pursuing agenda to get more ppl to buy BA products ? Were you even thinking when you wrote that ? Do you know what date it is and how mentally incapacitated you'd have to be to order any BA product now ? Not to mention the delay.

@Pentax - and will you be more capable of making a refund decision if you keep getting spammed with information about accounts, warehouses etc .... by PG, or getting some vague answer from BA ?

Question on refunds has been answered already many many times, you're bitching without even going to the fucking official forums !

bullshit, dumbass, I've gone to their forums, and have been monitoring them from the start.

they have not unequivocally stated that refund requests would be honored or for that matter that they would not be.   that question has been asked over and over again, it is a yes or no question and to this point I have not seen a clear answer.

if you know something by all means post it, otherwise it is you that is clogging up this page with bullshit, while claiming others are doing the same, and whining about it as if this isn't a completely public forum and your opinions are somehow more valid than anyone else's.

I do know something you incompetent twat, but i'm not gonna tell you anything.
You won't even have a brain to understand it anyway, since you believe all life's questions have a simple 'yes' and 'no' answers. You're not worth my time.

Got some years of your education missing ?

I'm laughing to see that you can't decide about your refund like an insecure high-school girl Cheesy Cheesy

I try to stand in the middle on these things, especially with as much newbie bashing as goes on here, but seriously Mr. Cannon, you CANNOT come in new with all guns blazing and expect to be taken seriously.

In case you hadn't noticed, emotions are running high on this, on all sides. Ya might want to cool your jets, or at least not fan the flames of an already angry mob.

There is no reason to make it personal. The issue is when/if BlackArrow is going to deliver, and if not, what they're gonna do about it. Frankly, the level and quality of their communication is harming them, but flaming each other is not going to resolve anything.
2762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What exactly is the point of everyone's hatred of ASIC's? on: February 21, 2014, 07:54:09 AM
A point was made earlier in the thread that I wish to dispute. Somewhat.

I don't recall which of you said it, but what was said was that ASIC chips are relatively cheap to produce and sold at an absolute premium. So far, so good. But then the point was made that anyone developing ASICs would be insane to not follow that paradigm.

This is what I would dispute. The opportunity exists right now for someone who has the resources to follow a rather different model, and it's not only not insane, it would generate them more business than they could handle AND more goodwill than any other manufacturer.

That model is this:

Make a small batch that's expensive enough to cover NRE and a rather large chip run. Use the profits from that batch to build a huge amount of machines, and sell them just over cost. The profits per machine would be minimal, but selling IN HAND at low cost would gather up so freakin' many sales that said manufacturer would probably have to expand their operation to keep up with demand.

Now if you believe that Bitcoin is a passing fancy, this model will not appeal. If you're only in it for the short run, it won't appeal. If you want to be top dog when the dust settles, it will have a great deal of appeal.

This is the way I would do it. I am crazy, but I'm not insane. I understand the consequences and morals of my actions. (reference M'Naughton, the legal standard for insanity at common law). The only thing stopping me is lack of funds, as with money I could hire the experts.

Personally, I love ASICs. They're making the network so strong that mainstream adoption of bitcoin is within reach, as even the true paranoid can do the calculations and figure out that the network can't be easily broken. Would it have gotten there without the ASIC revolution? Probably, but it wouldn't be there now.

This same "arms race" happened with PC's. In the long run it was a good thing, as you can now go to Walmart, plop down 400 dollars, and have what was defined as a supercomputer when I was a pup.

Can we get a manual payment to catch things up. I'm currently 26 blocks away from being paid again.

Thanks,
James

I'm sure wizkid will get to it eventually, he does it once a week usually.

But you do know that being 26 blocks away still means that you'll be payed out today? It is not -that- a problem, is'nt it?

(I don't want to sound mean. I just don't think that it is worth stressing wizkid with. And an happy wizkid means an happy pool. He is working on new features i'm eager to see!)
Not sure if you're aware that Giga ran a successful pool for a long time. He and Wiz are well acquainted. In general, you're right on the money, but in this instance I believe they are personal friends.

I am also kind of dismayed by the reports of people getting incorrect cables, needing multimeters to determine which wires to connect to + and - and needing to cut and strip the power cable for the power supply...as well as not receiving the USB hub that was advertised.

I look at it as the problems first adopters, beta testers, face. If you are on the cutting edge of technology, you have to be willing to work out the kinks. In coin mining, the early bird gets the worm. Feel free to wait until the technology is mature and works smoothly. At that point, the profit potential will be much less.

I largely agree with you here, but I do want to say that if LightningAsic plays out like Bitmain, then waiting for a price drop might not be such a bad idea. There's more than one winning strategy.

Of course I'm so fucking broke all I can do is watch and grind my teeth anyway, so.. best of luck to all of ya Smiley

I have checked out this thread for the longest time, seeking update. To all the people who have kept the thread alive and interested for the longest time thanks a ton. I am just as eager if not more than all you other AMT clients, but lets give those guys a breather to fix what ever it is that they need to fix and ship the units out. I understand that to some of you the money you invested might be all you have and even if it isnt, its not like any one wants to lose money.

In my interaction with AMT so far i am confident that they arent a scam company, now they are extremely rough on the client interaction part. But they are legit, we all have held on for this long, let just give them a bit more and provide them with a little breathing space. Our attitude cant help in speeding things up for them, even thought the attitude originate from the lack of communication from their side.

Thanks to everyone who agrees , and for every one who doesn't, i guess i see your point too ( as i too want a final resolution to this whole thing)

1 post? longest time? gtfo here.

so, no updates, no videos, no shipments, NOTHING. give them a breather? fuck off.

WOww Clenell is was actually trying to be nice, But you seem to enjoy acting quite tough behind a keyword. I said i have checked out this thread, does not mean i have ever written anything here. I would slap you like a little bitch that you are but, i guess you are too busy crying like one.

Again not saying you are wrong in getting pissed at AMT , but you getting mad and pissed and yelling all over this thread has it gotten you any close to getting your machines? and because i have been following this thread i know u stood up for AMT in the past .Think they have the chips they have the board how far out could they actually be from finally finishing the machine.

no, getting pissed does not get me miner quickly and neither does your obvious shilling. let me see if i understood you correctly? you want to come and slap me "like a little bitch"? I actively encourage you to come and do so - Huntersville NC kiddo. Let me see if I can make your wish come true. In the meanwhile take their dick out of your mouth because it's not going to get you your miner any faster.

Damn, that woulda been about a day's drive from where I was in PA Smiley If I was still there I might come by and buy you a beer. That would be cool, except it would mean I was still in Penisylvania.
2768  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-02-15] Mt Gox is deploying and testing a fix on: February 20, 2014, 12:43:30 PM

I stand corrected - Gox IS dead, and Mark knows it, he just needs to stop people from withdrawing all their funds. Classy. Just the kind of "goxxing" I would expect from an inexperienced businessman.

This.

That was exactly what I thought when I read that. He's putting limits on withdrawals of YOUR coins. There are two groups of people gonna win this one. Those brave souls who bought at ridiculously low prices, and the upper management of Gox. The company itself? Unless they can sell it to somebody who can restore it's rep, they're done. They don't have the FDIC or similar "safety nets" to get a tax funded bailout.

Guys, there has always been a withdrawal limit. I'm not pointing that out to defend mtgox or justify their behavior, only to get everyone on the same page.

True enough, but the implication in the press release is that they are going to throttle it further. Of course I can't prove this, but it's my thought they are doing so not to "test" their fix for their essentially bullshit problem, but to prevent practically everyone from just getting the hell out.

FWIW, I primarily use Coinbase. Never had a problem, even though they were usually a bit behind the market. There's something to be said for decent customer service.

FWIW, I'm American, and my countrymen for the most part have a worse grasp on English than most Europeans. It drives me nuts.

lol, I hear you.

A few years ago as a freelancer I had to do a text animation for an american customer....
The customer jokingly complained: "The speed is too quick, most americans don't read so fast"...

 Grin

Or comprehend real good either. I'm not a college educated man, but I can baffle 'em with their own discipline. It's disgusting. And to think this was the country that 150 years ago was the wonder of the world for our literacy Sad

I am homeschooling my children. Even if I weren't an anarchist, our State schools are harmful to the minds of humans.

I suppose I should get back on topic now.

From what I've seen in other threads, the A1 chip is pretty awesome. I really hope Bitmine pulls their heads out and does right by their customers, cuz I want that chip to stay on the market!

Updated OP.
2771  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 20, 2014, 11:31:42 AM
This forum should really have a "not newbie friendly" warning at the top of every page.

Nope. Only on those pages where an ASIC manufacturer (promises to) financially reward fake shill accounts

Anyway, assessment time. Two months ago, I basically made 3 allegations, and took a lot of shit for doing so.

1) Highly suspicious influx of "newbie" posters shilling for AMT.
2) based on Bitmine's official spec: impossible power consumption projections
3) based on Bitmine's public roadmap and information: impossible delivery projections.

1: was pretty much proven once we saw AMT's official shill reward program:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=304605.msg3893935#msg3893935

2:
Originally AMT's website claimed 300-600W, and  people (some of whom are now rewiring their electricity) actually believed that.
Yes, I do believe the unit will produce up to 1.2THs, running around 600Watts.

Website currently states 900-1200W, and that still may prove an under"estimate".

3:
On Dec. 13 i was told by Jim my 1.2TH, order #610, will ship the first week of January.

Flame on trolls.

Nearing the end of February and not even a picture of their 1.2TH has been shown. 3 out of 3.
To quote myself:

Ive been called annoying before, but I dont remember being called that *and* being proven incorrect.

So Ill continue to be annoying - to those people who find logic and truth annoying.

It wasn't aimed at you, Puppet. To me at least, you are not annoying.

I've been on internet fora since the beginning of the web, and on BBS's long before that. I didn't mean this thread, I meant this forum. I like it here, but it is an extremely paranoid, provocative, and often brutal place. Most of my life I've been the crazy one. The reason I like it here is that I look sane by comparison to a LOT of the people who post here.

As I've said before, AMT was good to me, personally. I do not think they have handled their company well, which bothers me. I thought the "say good things and get a discount" thing was, from a marketing standpoint, pretty much like shooting their own dick. For my own reasons, not just that they gave me a nice machine, I'd like them to succeed. But to do so, they need to step up on the front of the house. Big time. So does their business partner in Switzerland.

Asiabtc just announced a 1TH bitcoin miner for sale now. Not later. They're already shipping the five chip Gridseed hybrids.

Antminers will be shipping again in just a few days.

C'mon guys, Philly boys are supposed to get things done! In my time in PA, I was under the impression that it was only the west side where everybody surrendered their soul at birth. The few guys I met from Philly still had some life and fight in them. The people, using the term loosely, in the Monongahela valley were born to lose and proud of it. Wake up. Show 'em that SOMEBODY in PA still remembers what it means to be an American, vs. being a Subject of the Commonwealth, vassal republic of the United States of America, INC.

I've largely kept this to myself. But from 2005 until last June I lived in Monessen and Charleroi, two of the worst hell holes this side of perdition. Nearby to them is Uniontown, founded July 4th, 1776 upon news of the Declaration of Independence from the King of England. It's a town that is the site of one of the first battles between British and American forces. It's a place I wanted to visit for almost my whole fucking life. I get there, and the people who fucking LIVE THERE do not know the history that surrounds their town. All over the West side of the Commonwealth, I find people who are better off dead, because dead is all they are ever gonna be. It is the only state I have ever been in where the welfare recipient openly MOCKS me for working. A place where teenage girls dream of getting pregnant so they can get on welfare. No, I'm not kidding. I heard that so many times that it made my head spin.

My fortunes have waned and waxed all through my life. I've made more mistakes than most men survive. I have had to take the welfare dole to support my family. I am ashamed of that and WILL rise above it. But there will NEVER be a day when I will be PROUD of being a loser. That's what Western PA is about. Proud to lose, unless it's the Steelers. I see a company trying to do something cool in PA, and I want it to happen. I don't want to believe that there is no one with cojones, vision, and drive in that benighted state. THAT is why I was hoping from the very beginning that AMT would deliver. Because it's a blow to the horrible wrong that is modern Pennsylvania.

Why they chose me to test their unit, I still don't know. I'm glad they did. But they REALLY need to follow through. For the above reasons, and more importantly, because it's simply the honorable and right thing to do.
2772  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: February 20, 2014, 09:12:02 AM
Now those are the details many are calling for in this thread. But seriously: how does this help waiting customers in any way? All that is important is the fact that shipping did not start as expected. Who cares about the details, they won't change anything, do they?

First, Thank you for your report.

Second, even simple service providers like public transport will immediately INFORM the passenger why there is a delay. Even for a 5 min delay.
Those are passengers who pay only a few euros for a ticket and STILL the firm finds it extremely important to IMMEDIATELY inform them about the REASON why there is a delay.

Why bitmine doesn't find it necessary to make this news, I don't understand.

Something like
"Delay for a few days, because of german PCB manufacturer. Because of that italian firm can't do its job. Estimated delay 1 week"

Listen zefir, you really have to stop saying things like "who cares, it won't change anything"...

They let us wait in the rainy dark without umbrella, and they DON'T EXPLAIN WHY!!!

We can wait, if there is a justified reason.
We CAN'T wait without reason.

It's really about making the customers look stupid or not.
Any reasonable business does NOT want to make the customers feel stupid.

That's what this is all about.

"Who cares" is not an answer, it's an offense.

Listen georgem, this is the second time you are turning the meaning of my words into a negative direction. I told and repeat herein: I understand your anger and it is of course justified. But I also see that no matter what I posted so far you picked something from isolated context and turned to sound negative or disrespectful - which by far is exactly the opposite of what it is intended. I would like to remain motivated to communicate here, but if whatever I say worsens the atmosphere, I better stop.

If I write 'who cares' I mean: 'it makes zero difference' - and that is pretty obvious from the context. In essence, if you come late to an appointment, the guy who you kept waiting does not care why you are late - he will note that you were late. Starting to explain why you are won't change anything for the good - you might end up like someone looking for excuses. Same goes here: what difference does it make whether it was the PCB manufacturer or the parcel service? You have a contract with Bitmine and they take the blame. The CPP / refund agreement given in the ToS is exactly meant to quantify the blame.

That is where my 'who cares' came from - I am not hostile or disrespectful to you in any way. Instead please try for a moment to assume that sometimes people act in good faith and with good intentions.

Zefir, correct me if I'm wrong, but English is not your mother tongue?

"Who cares?" in common English usage, pretty much all variants, is pejorative. I didn't take it that way, but I can see where one might.

I actually run into things like this a lot on this forum, where the denizens are from all over the world. It runs from minor things like this to being incomprehensible. I have no skin in this particular game, but I do appreciate your updates. The company I most want to succeed, because they have been good to me personally, is AMT, and they run these chips. So I do have a direct interest if not risk. The FUD is actually kind of entertaining, the delays not so much. I enjoy your posts, and I think everyone watching appreciates the information. The main frustration lies in that we get the best information from a contractor rather than Bitmine themselves. No offense to you whatsoever, and rather an egregious stance from them.

FWIW, I'm American, and my countrymen for the most part have a worse grasp on English than most Europeans. It drives me nuts.

2775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [CGA] Cryptographic Anomaly - The Elusive Coin - ON ITS FIRST EXCHANGE on: February 20, 2014, 08:08:02 AM
what's happening to the price? It's going down pretty fast!

Supply is currently higher than demand. My opinion: some sellers were overexcited by the initial trades on the new exchange, and ended up selling on prices lower than intended. And with bids going down and spread shrinking, the bids on poloniex have been adjusted too.
Maybe a CGA thread in Chinese could help with getting more demand on allcoin.com.

How can we increase the demand?  Huh

Payment processing.

No, I don't know how to do it or promote it, but it's the bottleneck for all crypto right now, including Bitcoin. If you can make transactions happen, rather than settle, at the speed of Visa, then whatever crypto gets there first wins. And since the network is 24/7, actual settlement will occur way faster and way cheaper than the above mentioned visa card.
2776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: February 20, 2014, 08:03:54 AM
I agree, Bitcoin has so much potential its ridiculous. As soon as the cartels, catch on to Bitcoin it will add 100's of millions into the Bitcoin economy. Think about it, Columbia cocaine producers get a payment of bitcoins from mexico, no need to try and smuggle money through mexico into columbia.

Colombian cocaine producers are not what most of us are thinking when it comes to mainstream adoption...lol

It's a start... But I think they'll stick with dollars for awhile. By far the best "underground" currency at the moment.

Looks like you have been ethically lobotomized. Is it your ideology to take the place in the queue behind 7 billion others? That helps neither yourself nor the 7 billion.

So get out there, hands out of your pockets, cut your hair, and get some coinz. In 3 years, you can always donate a million PC's to the poor if you feel the need for it.

As to them being in London's financial district... They aren't. It's just an office. They are, IIRC, a Russian company.

I can believe that because strangely they appeared around the same time as 50BTC disappeared/got hacked?  Wink

I haven't really followed that tale, so I don't know. I do know that ghash and CEX were always linked, and that they built a huge farm based on bitfury chips. This was all out in the open. The way they are structured lends no "conspiracy" to their feeless structure.

What if any relationship they bear to 50BTC I have no idea.
2780  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: stop mining at ghash.io you FUCKTARDS on: February 18, 2014, 10:14:54 PM
I hate to add to the conspiracy, but I do love a good conspiracy theory Grin

They charge no fees for trading and have 0% fees on their pool. The maintenance fee is not high enough to be the sole source of income. What is their financial motivation to provide this service? Crashing Bitcoin value and then relaunching the Bitcoin concept as a government/banking backed system would potentially be very profitable. I don't see where crashing the value of Bitcoin hurts them at all.

They own a lot of the hashing power on their own pool. That's direct profit. They are part of the same group as CEX, who's per share (~4 USD/GH) is outrageously expensive. If they reinvested 90 percent into hardware to keep up with/expand the network, they would still be profiting handsomely.

On it's surface, you have an interesting argument, but it don't hold up.

As to them being in London's financial district... They aren't. It's just an office. They are, IIRC, a Russian company.

I don't mine with them, as they were difficult to set up for me, and Eligius is not. And frankly, Wizkid provides better customer service.
