2781  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How about a solar power source for pop one price mining on: October 05, 2018, 02:26:17 PM
I've been reading through this thread, mostly because I wish I could be running with a Solar set up at the moment. Maybe in time.

Without knowing the specifics of the contract, wording can be a bitch sometimes. Phils suggestion of a Lawyer may be the best course of action. Arguably if the average that should be produced is 65-70 KW per day, shouldn't a system having been in operation since April have been showing an average equal to or greater than those number to date??

I say that because summer should be the higher generation period with the average being dragged down through the Winter.

I'm curious about this blame the Asic approach, do they give any explanation for why they think that?
2782  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie, What entry level miner but not BITMAIN on: October 05, 2018, 02:17:04 PM
I know you said a hobby, but how enjoyable your hobby is might depend on being able to pull even a small profit out.

That's where it depends on your cost of electricity mostly, and your space secondly - I say this because I'm guessing that you already know these machines are loud and hot.

You can start here for for a quick checklist to get started.

If you have cheap power, go for the 841 because as it's no longer the nexgen miner it can be bought for a good price right now. If power isn't cheap and ROI/Profit is on your mind I'd say get everything in place and see what the 941 looks like. I think it will outperform the 921, in a similar fashion that the 8 series went.

I haven't toyed around with most of the other miners out there, but you should check out HagssFIN, signature for links to his reviews. Pretty sure he has most of the current miners in there.
2783  Economy / Reputation / Re: Confession - Zapo=aTriz. on: October 05, 2018, 02:07:09 PM
I think just creating this topic by Zapo himself is a brave step to confront his critics, either good or bad.

This was done because he had been on LoyceV's radar; and became a concern when asking for a decent sized no collateral loan. Essentially a come clean or I'll expose you situation.

Edit - The only "loan" on the forum here is to snakey. And I'm not paying him the 10 eth or so, after I found out he was pinkman123345. So he backstabbed me and he wants me to pay him a couple grand? Bullshit.

I can't say I'm familiar with this loan in particular. If you could point me to a thread where it is discussed and makes sense why you wouldn't repay I'd appreciate it. I'm wondering if Snakey/Pinkman12345 did something to cause you to need the loan, by scamming you or stealing from you. Then loaned you what you needed. If that is the case and is provable your stance makes sense.

All in all, I'm for second chances.  It does appear you burned up quite a few of those all in a short period of time; they could be lumped into one bad stretch of poor decisions. I like to believe you would have come clean after building up the account but that would have been less tempting than say doing it 3 weeks ago, you would have more and more to lose every week that passed as the account built up.

The part that concerns me the most is that you had been renting out your Atriz account to someone while building up Zapo. Iirc this was ongoing while you began managing these campaigns; that to me is continuing on with poor decisions. You likely used your Atriz reputation to get those accounts under your belt, which is fine but do you see how the Atriz account still had some reputation, and that lending out that account could have resulted in a scam large or small. I also don't see the value in lending someone an account to test out the forum, considering that would not be their experience, due to ranking up with merit changing things.

I hate to tell anyone how to act (apart from my kids) but I would suggest take time to think about how your actions will be perceived by/or affect the community before acting. For the foreseeable future, escrow account funds. Yes you will take a hit on your earnings from the fee, but you also add a layer of trust to your dealings.

Good luck moving forward, try not to get caught up in shady shit.
2784  Other / Off-topic / Re: Merit System Upgrade on: October 04, 2018, 10:25:22 PM
You may want to read the OP of the thread before trying again. Pretty sure you missed a few details.
2785  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: October 04, 2018, 10:01:48 PM
Barring any big spikes in price I'd say we are going to keep going around this ~ 4% increase we've been seeing for the last little while.

Any significant spike in price will throw that off.

I was wondering though how much hashrate will come on once it gets cold for some people. Myself my 741's are moving inside to become BTC making space heaters and I'm sure there are lots of like minded dividuals out there, who may have had machines offline.

That would be the longest at the current hashrate. A better comparison would be the highest percentage block... can't find the details on mobile right now. I think it was like 900% and was a little over 2 weeks or something but that's just what I can remember

Hello Kano,
Are going to give back the held payout?
Thanks

Give back??? Did he take one from you somehow?? Guessing it's just poorly worded.

Can't say I know of any held payment, that is to say unless you mean being below dust... if so that's been addressed and will be paid out when the new accounting software is finished.
2787  Other / Meta / Re: removing sig.campaign? on: October 04, 2018, 03:54:21 PM
OP stop multiposting. Edit your original post and use the insert quote option by scrolling down through the responses to answer everyone.  You can also trim their quotes to keep things tidier.

Here are some tips for future.

You will also benefit from the search function in trying to see if a topic has been discussed every other week.

Pretty sure this option had been ruled out by theymos. He would rather focus in soft fixes to help the forum without to much admin interference.
2788  Other / Meta / Re: Question about forum finances (again :P) on: October 04, 2018, 03:48:30 PM
Not to sounds like a dick but what right do any of us have to ask about the forum finances Huh

Apart from say donators, investors( not sure if there ever were any. Maybe some some of the staff depending on how the forum is structured.

You would probably have a better chance if you were a government agency following proper procedures. Despite theymos's political views on government interference I have the impression he operates well within the legal requirements of the US.

Patience is a virtue.... or some other positive saying a teacher or a poster may have said. Cool

Honestly there are tough blocks and there are 3 block days. I'm sure kano can drop some numbers on you if you care, but the best I can say is just wait it all works out in the end
2790  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: TRIPLE-1, Inc. 株式会社 松島 KAMIKAZE 7nm SHA-256 ASIC on: October 03, 2018, 10:06:47 PM
Maybe they mean they will give it their everything, go further than the competition expects before inevitably.... well you know; taking out your whole farm.

Either way I'm guessing it's more a supply issue for them sourcing enough chips, rather than a choice tk limit themselves to a smaller market

You should poke around the mining speculation board. Most of the nexgen equipment had been announced there and has discussions ongoing.

Some of the hardware has already been released you can find that gear in the hardware section
2792  Other / Off-topic / Re: Question on: October 03, 2018, 12:28:20 PM
Your post does come across like a 5 year old. So in this case you are actually going to need your mothers help. Being an obvious minor I would not suggest localbitcoins or an anonymous online transaction until you learn more about how BTC works.

Depending on your country there are exchanges, that you can use, you just need to open an account beforehand then transfer your BTC over. Google BTC exchange in your country, then do some research here on the forum to make sure they are legit. From there you will need to link to your moms banking to withdraw cash.

You can also try selling some of your bitcoins to trusted people in here through paypal or any other payment options that you prefer. Just be careful when doing online transactions and make sure you'd hire an escrow for you to avoid being scammed.

If you were to accept paypal anonymously from the forum make sure the member has a longstanding trusted reputation. Paypal is reversible, BTC is not. No one will escrow a BTC/Paypal exchange because it has a 6 month potential for chargeback.
2793  Economy / Speculation / Re: Miners are alive If BTC reach to $3000 ? And Is it possible ? on: October 03, 2018, 11:36:46 AM
The difficulty will adjust so there will always be miners turning a profit.

This explains it all if this highly unlikely situation were to happen. Someone will still be mining, because no matter what someone needs to be mining to keep the network alive.

It would essentially be who could hold out the longest and wait for the Diff adjustments to weed out the Miners with higher operating costs. The problem here is that you would have to hope the network still has a nice scattering of hash so that no one entity can manage to get a majority of the network hashrate, which at that unlikely price would be a real risk and potential cause for a further push down.

Now all that being said, do not trust these analysis, as they need to make predictions in either direction just to have a job.
2794  Other / Meta / Re: Copper Member Opportunities! on: October 03, 2018, 10:51:06 AM
Good Day! am I going to have a negative trust if I asked for merit?

I'll just leave this here for anyone whoever wants to look at it. You honestly are making me consider blocking newbie messages.

The answer is probably. Do not PM me again.

Here is the copper member thread for reference.

2795  Other / Meta / Re: Why was i banned? on: October 03, 2018, 10:45:21 AM
Man I can't believe they didn't drop everything and solve this.

This is the risk of running your startup business on a platform you do not control.
This thread has such limited info as to what you have actually tried, have you Pm'd anyone regarding this? Remember moderators are not admins and don't have the ability to unban you. There is an organisational hierarchy here that you don't seem to understand.

Now if you want to put on your big boy pants, you can patiently wait a couple of days to see what happens... or continue to throw a tantrum and go elsewhere.

2796  Other / Meta / Re: Is it possible to hack this forum and credit 100 Merits to own account? on: October 03, 2018, 08:23:15 AM
This site is protected. So, there is almost no chance to hack this site.

Should have told the hackers in 2015, maybe they wouldn't have bothered succeeding.

There are newbies with more than 100 merit, don't be surprised. Just check the registration date of the account.
Often those type of accounts have posted mainly in spam mega-threads and when they get deleted, the user's post count and activity are reduced / can be to even to 0/ but the merit are still there.
I've seen a newbie with 500 merit, I don't remember where but definitely not a hacker. Smiley

You can check them out yourself:

I honestly think the account holders made the decision to wipe the accounts for potential sales in the future. They likely had plagiarism or some other banable offence that they wanted covered up.

Now they can sit back advertise they have an account with true hero potential, and probably Smerit.
2797  Other / Meta / Re: Calling Moderator to Unban My Account on: October 03, 2018, 07:41:24 AM
^^
Maybe it got moved while you were typing but it is in Meta now... They still should have read the rules.

OP what did your ban message say. Was there a timeframe? If not it is a permanent ban.

2798  Other / Meta / Re: We are about 50 applications away from the 2,000,000th listed member on: October 03, 2018, 07:36:33 AM
and he made one post and hasn't been back since April.

We seem to have an enormous number of applicants who never really contribute to the forum.  -edited-

The 1 post would disqualify this account from being scrubbed in my mind.

Accounts that has 0 posts for let's say a month after creation could be deleted without any real issue imo. Although in that case I would still suggest sending out an email beforehand to confirm activity, because maybe they want an account just to look, for the sake of watchlists and such. We need to remember this is a forum that was created for the discussion and dissemination of information regarding BTC, so a user doesn't need to contribute per say, they can come here to read and not be heard.

The comment really is about blocking the dormant bots from being activated to spam the boards, and I'm not sure how easy it would be to detect them. If I remember correctly, email activation is not required on joining the forum, and it would seem that that could be a way to reduce the number of bot applications.

Agreed sounds like a small step to help curb the problem.

Yes, usernames can be a genuine problem, as there are many people joining the Bitcoin and crypto community every day.

That's such a small issue for individuals. Unfortunately when you get to something late you are left with what's available. That's why you see hotshit6969 as usernames in places - so really people will just have to start doing this if they are really attached to a name

2800  Other / Meta / Re: Why was this post deleted? on: October 03, 2018, 06:42:55 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5036572.0

That's the topic, as I remember reading it. My best guess is that it was seen as generic or low quality in relation to the OP and the discussion that was going on, based on the MODS opinion. Iirc that was the extent of the post and there was no direct link to engaging the OP material or others posts.

I doubt it got reported, but you can see one of the section MODS had been in there handing out merit, so maybe it failed their litmus test. You could always PM them and ask. I did notice in checking the deletion log that one other post was also removed.
