441  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Buying More Tickets To Increase Your chances on: December 30, 2023, 05:40:36 PM
Personally, I do not buy any tickets as I consider one (1) as sufficient to try out my chances in the lottery.

I somehow associate with your posts, OP. In the Philippines, around hundreds of millions of pesos is at stake in our lottery weekly. Statistically speaking, the more tickets that you have, the more chances that you may actually win the lottery. I tried buying three (3) tickets before but it seems that purchasing one is already enough to try my chances daily. Imagine purchasing more than two (2) tickets daily- such expense would accumulate and I would rather save my money rather than buying those extra two (2) tickets.

Though this may be the case, I just hope that someday, I would be able to experience winning something as big as the lottery.
442  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: earn from Bitcoin on: December 30, 2023, 04:55:02 PM
Sorry to bother the community, but it is a hard time for me now. I am really appreciated to your suggestions, help, instructions of How to earn from Bitcoin, including a job related to Bitcoin, mine, trading, or anything else.

There are various ways in order to earn BTCs especially with the help of this forum.

If you are curious about mining, then you can start by utilizing the search bar of this forum and input any mining-related questions that you have. If you are a complete beginner, then I suggest that you first watch videos about mining because it can be very technical to someone who has no prior experience to any crypto-related knowledge.

If you are willing to do anything that is service-related with BTC as payment fee, then visit the SERVICE BOARD and broadcast any service-related job that you can accomplish.

If you want to participate in campaign signatures since they pay BTC as payment, you must first reach the required merits for the ranks they require. Merits, on the other hand, is considered one of the most discussed topics in this forum. If you want to know how to earn them the SMART and RIGHT way, then utilize again the search bar for this.
443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: December 30, 2023, 04:13:52 PM
Due to a lack of better Chess-related discussions, I am opening this thread again to discuss the recent events that happened in the last couple of days!

As you all know, Magnus Carlsen has won his FIFTH Rapid World Championship and his SEVENTH Blitz World Championship in which the latter just finished a couple of hours ago.

This feat is nothing but greatness due to the fact that there is a lot of strong players that participated in these matches. I really thought that Artemiev would have won the Blitz section given that he was in the lead the whole tournament but Magnus was able to get a 6 win streak which skyrocketed him to the top. From both the Rapid and the Blitz Championship, Magnus lost only ONCE against MVL in the blitz section.

What are your thoughts on this? I personally think that Magnus is the undisputed GOAT of Chess with these accomplishments. Now that Alireza has qualified for the candidates, will we see Magnus attempt at the World Classical Chess Championship next year?

444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Replacement for a College Savings Plan on: December 30, 2023, 03:39:21 PM
At this rate, I am seeing that now most corporate companies plan to remove the college degree requirement for jobs, which will transform the college education long term, and its looking like it won't even be needed unless you're going to be a PhD or a Lawyer etc etc.

I doubt that this would actually push through given the amount of jobs required to have technical and specialized skill which are taught in some degrees.

Sure, there may be jobs that may not require you to be a college graduate, but I do think that these are entry-level blue collared jobs. While this may also work in first world countries, having a degree in a third-world country is definitely essential and needed to at least guarantee you a paying and consistent job.

Quote
The traditional mutual fund / 529 plan isn't really needed anymore if college isn't going to be a requirement, but now I am more so just thinking of a life savings plan is a much better and more flexible option. Maybe just set them each up a wallet and load x amount each making quarterly contributions. By the time they are old enough surely they would have more money in that account anyways compared to the mutual fund, right?

Remember that BTCs are investments. With its volatility, its price may increase/decrease at any given moment. While others may consider it a long-term savings plan, it should, however, be viewed as a moving investment. This means that you must take advantage of the sudden increase on its price because anything can still happen. Its unreliability is what makes it desired as a short-term investment; and the long-term part is considered due to the regular forks that happen every 4+ years.
445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich, average or poor. Who loses more? on: December 30, 2023, 03:26:10 PM
So why are people contacting themselves. They will say the house would win because of house edge. Now they are also saying the rich would win than the poor. Is it not the others way around that the more the rich spend on gambling, the more the money the rich will eventually lose.

Well statistically speaking, the house will always win due to the presence of house edge. That slight advantage that the gambling platform has will definitely outperform everyone in the long run assuming that we based it solely on the house edge. This is true as this is mathematically accepted and proven by the numbers alone.

While this may be true, this is only to a certain extent wherein there is a balance between winning and losing. This does not take into account the low odds of hitting a jackpot, etc. that can definitely happen if the person bets.

Let us take this for example:

In the Philippines, the chance of winning the lottery is 1 in 5,245,7861. Obviously, that is definitely a low chance of winning but the more tickets you have, the more chances that can garner you that lightning chance of winning the whole jackpot.

446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The frustrations in loosing a huge bet when your winning was so assured. on: December 30, 2023, 02:35:58 PM
To those who considers making profits a priority in gambling, I have come to observe that it is much more frustrating when you looses your game at when the game was almost over and you were on the safer side (winning) and just a few minute or seconds before the game is over it ended up at your lost.
I come to understand that it is more worrisome when the sure winning opportunities was so huge and got lost lately closed to the end time of the game.

I think this is somehow obvious given that most people view gambling as a means of earning extra income or profit. Given that most gambling ads advertise the chances of winning huge amounts of money (e.g. jackpot prizes, cars, etc.), no wonder that most people feel frustrated after losing due to this hope that they failed to achieve.

While this may be true, I do think that this happens also to people who gamble rarely. They just want to attempt and try their luck, checking if they can potentially beat the significantly low odds of winning the jackpot.

With all things considered, gambling in general is frustrating. It plays with all your emotions and it also lets you feel things that you have not felt before due to what is stake on the prize.
447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: why do people always play gambling even if they always lose? on: December 30, 2023, 10:20:15 AM

Besides that, in another place, Many young people around to me still play slot gambling even don't have a job and always lose. I wonder where they get the money for deposits? and why they repeat that?.

There are three (3) types of teenagers:
  • Those who get their money from their pocket/saved money;
  • Those who rely on their rich parents for money; or
  • Those who are rich because they have their respective business even at a young age (e.g. streaming, etc.)

If there is one thing that I learned over the years with our technology, it is that there are some teenagers who can self-sustain their lifestyle since they have their respective business even at a young age. Lots of teenagers are pursuing streaming as their professions which is quite popular in today's day and age.

Though this may be the case, the above-mentioned case is the exception, while the first two (2) on the list is the general rule- meaning they represent majority of the teenagers who gamble.

Quote
I don't know what the reason reason that doesn't bother them, they should have given up, and changed the game that makes them profitable. if I always lose in the game, I will change the type of game, example If I always lose on a slot, I will change the type of game like sports betting until my capital is back and try the luck again to the slot.

Teenagers tend to be very carefree especially with money. They rarely understand its value since most of their savings/pocket money came directly from the wallets of their parents. If they started working as an adult, this will teach them to value their resources and allocate them to certain priorities and obligations.
448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not everyone deserves to hear of your winning in gambling. on: December 29, 2023, 10:05:27 PM
Success stories will always be different from the perspective of the listeners.
Yes, it can be positive or negative but if your purpose is to educate and inspire then just stay positive and your listener might still find a good lesson on your story. Though if the addicted gambler gets inspire to gamble more, i believe the problem is still with him and not yours anymore as your intention is clean and your purpose is positive.

I think the main objective here is to choose whose success story you should read and learn from. Unfortunately, there are people who fake their stories for the sake of creating an argument and a discussion with others. But with some, they also have their respective stories that can be both beneficial and informative as they can share their key insights during those times.

In conclusion, success stories are not bad per se; people share them all the time due to the joy of winning a huge amount of money. If you really want to avoid these success stories, then just keep it to yourself- no need to call it out and make a fuss about it.
449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can I dodge KYC using the his medium. on: December 29, 2023, 09:44:26 PM
If you want to bypass KYC the best way is probably playing in cassinos that don’t have it at first place

Your strategy is good and it may work but its not fool proof, you may have the account blocked until KYC is done so take it into account…

This is the right answer.

Most casinos nowadays require KYC due to stringent regulations being imposed on most countries that allow online gambling websites to be operated. But if you try to bypass KYC by withdrawing small amounts of BTC, not only that it would be very expensive (high costs of TX fees) but it may also put your own account and funds in danger.

Remember that every casino has their respective TOS and if you breach any of those provisions, the online gambling platform can legally ban your account and withhold your winnings/funds without any notice.

In conclusion, if you truly want to avoid KYC, then register only in a gambling casino that does NOT have any KYC to begin with.
450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: License: is it a guarantee? on: December 29, 2023, 04:43:08 PM
Almost every gamblers notably those that make use of online Casino's for their gambling have the notion that except from a license owned casino they don't use any  casino without a license, which I think is a cautious thing to do.

But have been wondering and wanting to ask, does a license guarantees that a casino won't scam it's customer's going forward.

The answer is: NO; having a license does not guarantee that the online gambling website is safe and secured.

Before delving forward, let us first discuss the benefits of securing a gambling license in a casino, to wit:

  • Legal compliance with other countries;
  • Protection and fair play from the online establishment;
  • Serves as a symbol of trust and legitimacy; and
  • Can be used as a ticket for markets in some countries.1

Obviously, a gambling license is required with some countries in order to comply with their rules and regulations. Additionally, there are also countries that require a license in order for the international business to be permitted to use their services in their country. If an online gambling website fails to meet these criteria and standards, then a license would not be issued, thereby making their services questionable in the market.

While this may be true, still, having a license does not guarantee player protection and safety against their potential scams. It just means that they were able to comply with some formalities required by law as they are under surveillance but they can still "technically" scam people.

451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's Your Feeling After You Finish Gambling. on: December 29, 2023, 03:17:46 PM
<..snip..>
Be honest with yourself and vote on the poll on What's Your Feeling After You Finish Gambling?

This actually depends on the outcome of my games.

Normally when I finish strong or when I profited from my games, I would feel ecstatic to the point that I would use my profit to treat my family and/or friends a nice meal for dinner. Sometimes, I also re-gamble a percentage of my profit to be used as my allocated budget for my next gambling session.

Obviously, I also feel somehow depressed and anxious whenever I lose in my gambling games. I feel like I have this obligation to recover these said losses by gambling again, but my gut tells me to stop and call it a day for the fear of increasing my losses even further.

At the end of the day, what I feel depends primarily if I profited from my gambling session or not as I view gambling more as an income stream than a source of entertainment.
452  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies are not Scums.... Learning is a Process and it's progressive. on: December 28, 2023, 09:56:21 PM
I think that the whole fiasco about newbies being discriminated are the ones focused on beginner accounts who spam meaningless comments with various threads.

I have encountered tons of newbies who were willing to learn and most of our distinguished forum users shared their insights and support to them. At the end of the day, it is not about your rank in the forum- it is about your attitude and willingness to learn from others and on this forum.

Obviously, if you are a newbie who's sole purpose is to earn cryptocurrency, then do it on the right process. Stop rushing and asking questions that have been answered a thousands of times already. Utilize the search bar and start from there.

Lastly, please do not interpret that everyone is "attacking" you just because they gave their objective criticisms. Part of learning is knowing where your mistake lies- this forum has users who are willing to teach others but you must have the attitude to accept and learn also.
453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 28, 2023, 09:13:29 PM
I played Roulette on a casino three days ago and it was obviously my first-time playing Roulette, I literally didn't understand my way out and I just knew I should select a number and click on spin. I did that obediently and time after time, I lost. I was really motivating myself with the next spin, and next and next, but all to no avail, I was lost in the ride until I drained my deposit for the day's gambling, that time It dawned on me that my Ignorance has contributed to my parallel losses for the day, I just logged out and ended that day's session disappointed.

Yesterday, I was discussing with my friend on my experience, and it was more obvious that my Ignorance played a major role in my bitter experience days before. It was after I was whipped badly that I went back and saw the demo option which I should've used to learn before I engaged. Also, I wish to advise all new gamblers to visit demo space in the casinos where you can learn before you start playing with real money cos I think it will help people master the games before engaging to have more fun, because not only did I lose money that day, but honestly, I didn't have any fun.

I would like to ask if some people here has experienced this too and what is the possibility that most people who experience repeated losses are Ignorant of the game play patterns.

Even if you had tried the demo option then it wouldn't have made much of a difference because it's roulette.
You spin and if you are lucky then you win the round. It's more of a luck based game.
So doing the demo wouldn't have changed your luck. But yeah, what you're saying holds good when you are playing a skill based game.

I agree with you. It is not about knowing and understanding how the game works- it is all about accepting the odds and understanding that everything has their risks in gambling.

Like what I mentioned in previous threads, gambling has this sort of adrenaline boost whenever you bet your money into something. Let's take roulette as an example: you cast your vote in which color you chose, set a specific amount on how much you would bet, and wait where the ball would drop on the color.

The adrenaline and anxiety of waiting where the ball would land is what makes this addictive. Some people want to feel that adrenaline and anxiety that they could either lose or double their money; that makes gambling as a whole addictive because of the different emotions that you feel after every game.

454  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blackjack.fun on: December 28, 2023, 08:54:14 PM
I'd be leery to play at a casino that's locked its thread; especially when there's many other options available with active threads.

and there are several accusations against this casino. i remember they were doing a signature campaign here for a long time, they must have built a good reputation at that time so it's unfortunate to see a good platform fall from grace.

i didn't go through all the scam accusations but one is enough to say they have not resolved it. and then closing their ANN thread will be another indication of them going rough time.

This is very unfortunate to here.

As someone who participated in their campaign signature in the past, I would say that I love the simplicity of their website. You can even socialize with the people to whom you are playing as the online casino website is very straightforward- you log in and play blackjack and socialize with everyone.

Going back to the main question and as everyone recommended, do not play and even attempt to deposit any BTCs to their website, The fact that they locked their thread means that there are problems that are occurring as we speak. Along with the accusations made against them, it is safe to say that they already lost their credibility in this forum.

455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun, is it a lie that we tell ourselves? on: December 28, 2023, 03:11:39 PM
I'm being tempted to agree with you that gambling for fun is a lie we tell ourselves to make us feel better in the midst of losses. I don't really condemn the proponents of such since its a strategy for reducing the pain of losing.  But the reality is that no one gamble for fun. The primary reason for gambling is money and more money. Remove the money from gambling and see how many of those championing gambling for fun will still be there.

If you remove winnings from gambling, I wonder how many gamblers that will still come back to gamble, beyond having fun, there's a subtle challenge in our minds that we're coming back to win and recover lost money. Because we've told our selves that we're gambling for fun, it suppresses the feelings that we want to gamble to win, if not why would you have fun playing games that you have high probability of losing. The consolation that I see for reasonable gamblers is that they gamble the amount that they can afford to loose, so the frustration of eventual lose can reduce. The exceptions that I see are money bags who have enough money to throw away without minding, because they have it in surplus.

I do think that the profit aspect of gambling is what makes it entertaining in the first place. If you remove its monetary aspect, then there will be nothing to risk and bet against- thereby removing the "thrill" and adrenaline aspect of gambling.

Without any money involved, this will negate all the emotions that a person may feel when he/she bets. Imagine playing gambling without any money involved, what will you feel if there is no risk in the first place?

In conclusion, gambling is fun regardless on how you view it whether as a source of income or for entertainment.
456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It is you who can't stop betting. on: December 28, 2023, 12:37:49 PM
Happy Christmas to all gamblers. I have been reading some threads and comments that many people have been saying that they find it very difficult to stop gambling (not only gambling addicts), but on one hand, I really think that it is not hard to quit gambling even when you are winning and not winning, but it is you who can't control yourself.

To be honest, it is easier said than done regardless of the result- I call this the "cycle of gambling."

According to this cycle, a person will continue to gamble whether he/she wins or not. If a person losses, the initial reaction for them is to recover their said loss by gambling again; and if the person wins, the initial reaction is for them to try and continue their win streak.

Quote
Bets can not force one to stake, but a gambler can force themselves to stake a bet, even when he or she does not have money to bet. Some gamblers did not learn how to gamble. They just see themselves doing it, but they can't stop it. Why because they can't control themselves, even when they are not an addicted gambler?
What do we have to say about this?

Like what I have mentioned above, gambling is a tempting act whereby a person can potentially landslide regardless of the circumstances of their bets. This is the reason on why I heavily recommend that a person should only allocate a specific amount of money in order to force themselves to stop betting.
457  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Help , Sobrang taas ng fee Pano mag send ng mas mababa and fees? on: December 27, 2023, 06:07:59 PM

Umabot yung fees hanggang $20-$35 per transaction and nanghinayang naman ako dito. Since non-custodial wallet din kasi yung BitPay, wala din ako freedom to choose kung anong network ko sana massend yung BTCs ko kaya naccurious ako kung ano ba mga factors na nag dedetermine sa pag taas ng TX fees.

I just hope na before the fork happens, medyo bumaba naman ang fees ngayon. But I guess this is one of those factors that compels me to HODL my BTCs muna for the time being especially na malapit na nga talaga ang fork.
458  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am a Beginner on: December 27, 2023, 05:12:49 PM
I really appreciate your support in helping know the basics of Bitcoin. Thank you very much
With the assistance of the forum members rendered to you, you have now gained knowledge of the basics of bitcoin, which appears to be a requirement for every novice in crypto to know first before delving deeper into bitcoin investment. What else are you aware of or would like to do? If I had to make a suggestion, you should start using your spare cash to invest in bitcoin since we anticipate a bull run soon. But don't leave your investment on an exchange in anticipation of that, instead, have it stored in a crypto wallet like Electrum.

Just to add on what many have already mentioned, remember that Google is your best friend- this means that everything can be learned from utilizing a proper google search on the internet.

In addition to this, you can also utilize the search bar on this forum and type simple keywords in order to see previously discussed threads that may answer some of the basic questions that have been tackled many times before.

Lastly, OP remember that cryptocurrencies are a journey- this is something that is a privilege to learn. Let this information inspire you to make better investment decisions and also remember to just enjoy the journey. Do not always be in a rush to make money as cryptocurrencies transcend it!
459  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips to avoid compulsive thoughts related to anxiety on: December 27, 2023, 03:36:36 PM
To me i don't think only gambling causes anxiety now these are possible things to cause anxiety within my little understanding; I can vividly remember that everyday situation can easily leads to anxiety, bad father, relative, or even bad mother /wife and husband or stress at office can triggers someone to be over anxious about the whole situations but what makes it worst is that of gambling. Whenever someone gambles or places  bet and s/he is hoping for outcome at this point such thing can trigger the anxiety in a person this same things also give rate to greed by constantly wanting to make a winning over the time.
I also agree with what you've said. It adds up to the situation when we've got other things to tackle in our daily lives. They're causing more stress and more anxiety and that's add more impact to someone who's dealing with it.

The painful part of it is that when you channeled your source of living to gambling and you think that is the only alternatives then such person must suffer anxiety due to over worriedness of what to eat, rent to pay and financial bills to pay at hands makes you feels very anxious just as they said " a hungry dog is an angry dog" there will be no difference between such to someone who is under pressure (anxiety). Any person who is under this can also be restored by gifting them money or help to pay parts of their bills. And most be closely monitored to limited from associating themselves in the gambling hall or site otherwise whenever they incur huge lost it would stir up again.

If a person throws everything and relies completely in gambling as their primary source of income, then expect things to spiral out of control.

As a general rule, never rely on something that is unpredictable and inconsistent on your obligations. If you see gambling as a venue or source of income, then the risks are just far too great for a person to lose everything all at once. I am not saying that gambling is per se overall bad, but if you rely on it as an income stream, then expect inconsistent results.

In order to solve this, I really recommend that a person should control their urges to satisfy their gambling hunger. There are even alternatives being presented in order to combat addiction; I just hope that people would understand that losing is more frequent than winning.
460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many hours is the best time for a gambler to last while gambling? on: December 27, 2023, 02:25:56 PM
Gambling is for fun, and actually, if someone wants to have fun gambling, there is no way they can spend six hours gambling or even spend the rest of their day gambling.

In my opinion,  the more time one decides to spend on gambling, the more money they lose. For example, if I spend like one hour gambling and another gambler spends like six hours gambling, which one of us do you think will spend more money?

The answer here is a case-to-case basis since gambling depends on the budget of the person.

Let us answer your question- if a person spends like one (1) hour of gambling vs a person who spends six (6), the latter has more likeliness to spend given the timeframe of the gambling act. Though there are still factors that must be considered (e.g. type of game played, amount of bets, etc.), it is still the person who spends more time on gambling that has the likelihood to spend more in the process.

Quote
So the question again is: how many hours do you gamblers think are more appropriate to spend while gambling?
......

While I do agree with some points you have raised, the all-encompassing answer here is depending on the budget of the gambler.

Naturally, a person who has allocated a certain amount for gambling has an innate timeframe for his games- which is until he/she has exhausted such allocated amount for it.

This is the reason on why I heavily recommend that gamblers should set aside an allocated/specific amount of money while they gamble to prevent any over-expenditure on their budget.
