661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do some people hide to gamble on: April 11, 2024, 09:54:10 PM
In a lot of areas it probably isn’t safe to have lots of cash on you. I’d imagine if people are in public gambling and a lot of cash is changing hands, there’s probably not much of a desire to let anyone outside of those playing be aware of it. Just common sense. Nobody wants to get robbed when they’re trying to have a good time.
662  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 11, 2024, 03:07:28 PM
About selling BTC "high" then 10 years later it was low after all, one way to mitigate this is to play with BTC's volatility and sell more than what you need, keeping half of the fiat to buy back lower.

But clearly don't sell big amounts relative to your stash unless it's life and death I'd say. Luxuries are for when you're rich.

Buy back lower is a dangerous game. It eventually stings us all. You could spend your life stressing over charts and taking L after L hoping to get a big score someday, or you could relax and chill while holding some BTC and live a happy life knowing your bags will end up alright. I do sort of agree with your advice to sell some though. Everyone should have enough fiat on hand to where they aren’t stressing about their BTC.
663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 11, 2024, 02:46:52 PM
I decided to take a little bit of a long shot today.  The Bulls have been playing terribly in my opinion and have a ton of drama so I wouldn't be shocked to see them lose to the Detroit Pistons who probably would like to not be one of the worst teams in modern day history...  I also think the Warriors are in playoff mode and not going to lose to the Portland Trail Blazers, so I feel good about this one.  Granted asking the Pistons for a win is a tall order, but here it is.

Detroit Pistons - Chicago Bulls
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Detroit Pistons

Portland Trail Blazers - Golden State Warriors
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Golden State Warriors

Odds
4.58

I don’t know what’s going on in Canada but I am concerned that the insanity we’re seeing there is headed to the United States. My friends in Canada are seemingly afraid of anything. Even having the wrong opinion can get you in trouble over there now. Not to mention the censorship… I never thought I’d see this level of government overreach in my lifetime.

I’m a little bit surprised to see the Celtics lock up Jrue Holiday for the next 4 years for 135 million dollars. I’m not sure how old Jrue is, but that seems like sort of a long deal for an older guy on a team that’s already got 2 young max players. I think the genius management over in Boston might be starting to make mistakes as they struggle to get Taytum a chip.

lots of 70s look good.

70 has proven very tough to pass. maybe by next week

70s are starting to feel boring. Hard to believe… I wouldn’t be surprised if we made another leg up soon. More and more markets are getting opened up to Bitcoin. There’s such a tidal wave of fiat on the way I wouldn’t be surprised no matter how high the price goes in the coming year. $100K is starting to feel like a conservative estimate.

I’m interested in knowing what you’d be willing to pay for a loaded Casascius coin. I have each type of brass coin available and am considering beginning to part with them for the right price.
668  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: April 10, 2024, 09:54:42 PM
I wanted to wait to report until I liked the number I was reporting. Smiley
I’ve also gone over 100 a few times but I’m not tracking that. As I’ve said before, I think rather than going over 100, people should focus on adding other exercises. I’m focusing on squats, stairs, and curls, but need to get more regular with my pull-ups and sit-ups. To each their own though.

team 0 pushups forever here

100kchallange,vapourminer,1,0,2024-04-08

3) there is something wrong about this whole seemingly not want to cooperate situation, and I should not even be encouraging such naughtiness.. Sure "anti-push-ups," that could be a thing.. I am not going to deny that..   but really.. something is not right about the whole seemingly push-up boycott situation, especially when they are not really fun or easy to do...  #justsaying

hey someone has to be in last place.

I'm also not on board with a 0 entry for this challenge.  Literally the only way you can lose this challenge is to not participate.  I'm not really big on lot including someone, but if you didn't do a push-up, did you really participate in the push-up challenge?  This is like me saying I didn't win the Mr Universe competition back in 2010.  Well, truth is that I never competed and that is what I'm seeing from someone with 0 push-ups in this challenge.  You want your name on the board?  Do a push-up!  Smiley  A little tough love never hurt anyone right?
670  Economy / Gambling / Re: Nextslot.bet - Random Slot Picker on: April 10, 2024, 07:43:22 PM
Very cool idea.  At first I thought it didn't make a lot of sense but after playing around with the site a little bit I can see some real value here for game hunters.  The statistics it shows for each game caught me a bit off guard as it goes above and beyond the original stated intent of the site.  I could see this being used as a research tool for someone who wants to see the differences between the different games, or maybe for the gambling crazed individual who needs another layer of chance in his slot machine playing.

Great job on this.  I'm impressed.  I hope you figure out a great way to monetize it so it pays off for you!
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: btc purchases on: April 10, 2024, 07:38:40 PM
Im not able to purchase BTC due to me not having the qualifications needed to buy btc,so does anyone know how to buy btc without having to show proof of identity

The first question I would ask you is what currency are you trying to trade for Bitcoin and are you trying to do it online only or in person?  If in person, where are you located?  Many places have Bitcoin ATMs where you can put cash into the machine and receive Bitcoin.

If you're trying to trade online and you have a different form of digital currency, it is quite easy.  There are many sites that will facilitate the trading of digital currencies without having you fulfill know your customer rules.  You may find yourself still dependent upon location for this though, so a VPN might be a good tool to utilize.
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Patterns in Baccarat? on: April 10, 2024, 07:34:32 PM
I'm not a fan of the game but aren't you the one to decide whether you wanna be a banker or player? Of course, the banker has the edge, and if it's them who decides who be the banker and the player then you have to be lucky to be chosen as a banker all the time.

Playing this game live online makes that counting card strategy inapplicable. Martingale and those Fibo still apply to this game but asking for another card is already a strategy.

That's about my limit of understanding when it comes to baccarat as well.  I've seen it played a few times but I have absolutely no idea what is going on.  I should probably watch a video on it or read some sort of instructions so I'm not totally lost.  If I were ever face to face with a baccarat table, I would probably just bet the banker and hope to win, having absolutely no idea what the odds are or even how to tell if the banker or the player won.  If anyone has any tips on a quick instructional video to show someone the ropes, feel free to share.
673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Double your money and quite on: April 10, 2024, 07:32:25 PM
Dana White has said he gambles with a similar strategy.  Not necessarily a double and quit, but he picks a number that if he reaches it he walks away.  He's said sometimes he'll sit at a table for more than 24 hours in order to get his pile back to where it needs to be.  He's even been banned from some Vegas casinos for literally continuing to gamble until he comes out ahead.  This might be a great strategy if you have unlimited money, but I think for most people your method of doubling or going broke isn't the worst.  I think it's a good idea in stock trading as well.  Always have an exit point.
674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 10, 2024, 07:27:57 PM
Yes, the West are still very hotly contested and when we thought that a Lakers vs Warriors showdown could be happening, there are still some scenarios that will happen that will not make that event happen. So everyone should really try to win all the games remaining, and this could be the first season that we really appreciate what a play-in should be, teams fighting it out till the last game of the season. Only 1 games are separating this team, so most likely a 2 game winning streak will not be as bad. I know that you are a Warriors fans, and so it's good to see them back, the Klay and Curry hitting those 3's just like during their primes.

There’s a high chance that Lakers will be the opponent of GSW on the play in tournament since Kings has 3 remaining matches which is very manageable for them to win while Lakers have a scheduled match against Pelcs which is in need to win to secure their top 6 position while they have a very close standing before during their previous matches.

I don’t want to see Lakers vs GSW on playin tournament but it seems that it’s destined to happened given how the remaining matches of teams 6th to 10th are all manageable to all of them which means they will just stay on their current position.

I'm not opposed to seeing the Lakers and Warriors in the play-in tournament together.  I think it would be cool to see another LeBron vs Steph matchup, although I don't think the Warriors have much of a chance against them.  I'd also love to see them both in the playoffs, but think it's better for the sport if they matchup at some point.  The Warriors dynasty is ending and LeBron's career isn't far behind.  This might be the last time we see this LeBron vs Warriors dynasty matchup after so many good years of battling each other.  Better to enjoy it while it's here.  Smiley
675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 10, 2024, 07:24:47 PM
My stock portfolio got crushed today.  Only had 3 winners in it, which is shockingly strange given the number of positions...  The only 3 winners today (at the time of posting)...

Lockheed Martin Corp - Market betting the global wars will escalate.
Star Bulk Carriers - I followed some crooked politician into this trade who is clearly insider trading.
FBTC - Bitcoin.

I think that says something...  Bitcoin is still showing an incredible amount of strength before the halving.  I'm very curious what the profit taking vs limited supply action is going to look like in another 2 weeks.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: April 10, 2024, 07:19:58 PM
I'm betting the odds today.  I feel like while the Timberwolves and Clippers are underdogs, they can both beat any team in the NBA on any given night.  I also feel like the Suns and the Nuggets haven't been playing their best ball lately, while the Timberwolves and the Clippers have something to prove.  So I think the odds of 9.21 on a bet that the Clippers and Timberwolves will both win are pretty good no matter who they're playing against.  I thought about adding some other games, but with these odds there's no reason to push it.

Denver Nuggets - Minnesota Timberwolves
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Minnesota Timberwolves

Los Angeles Clippers - Phoenix Suns
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Los Angeles Clippers

Odds
9.21
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 10, 2024, 03:22:04 AM
A lot of questionable injuries happening at the end of the season suddenly. I think teams are legitimately asking superstars to fake injuries to sit the end of the season now so the team can avoid fines. Did I read that Anthony Davis didn’t play because of a headache? Giannis seemingly is out with a leg cramp? Hmmm…
678  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you feel when you experience violence while gambling on: April 09, 2024, 10:53:16 PM
I've never actually experienced anything like this.  I've seen people get angry but never take it out on anyone else.  Granted I don't go into small casinos very often and haven't in quite some time.  I would assume if you did something like this in one of the large popular casinos in Vegas you might end up in a back room talking to some unfriendly folks wishing instead for the police.  Still, I think the best thing to do when in public and things like this happen is to try and de-escalate the situation and if that isn't possible then remove yourself from it.  That or start recording on your phone and yell out, "World Star!"
679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana - worth it in 2024? on: April 09, 2024, 08:01:35 PM
Solana is one of those coins that the believers think will replace Bitcoin someday, while the skeptics say it is total centralized garbage that is nothing more than an excel spreadsheet.  I think the truth probably falls in the middle somewhere.  Big companies like Google have embraced Solana, which means it isn't going away anytime soon (although Google abandons projects faster than any company I've ever seen).  It also has some merit for NFTs and I could see a popular metaverse being built on it.  However, the price increase from $8 to $180 is sure to keep some people on the sidelines as that has been one of the more explosive crypto rebounds so far this cycle.
680  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Would Anyone Be Against Self Defense? on: April 09, 2024, 07:58:02 PM
The issues of self defense and guns are really separate in my opinion.  For example, you're seeing people standing up for helpless strangers and being arrested for doing so in liberal run cities.  That is clearly wrong, but in my opinion completely separate from owning guns.  Should people be able to assault those who put them in a position where they feel they need to defend themselves, I believe so.  Should people also be able to own guns?  I think so.  Both are major issues and you're right to question them.

My take is this...  If someone hits you first, you should have the right to beat them unconscious.  I also think gun ownership is important, otherwise someone might not be aware if they break into a home they could be murdered.  Take away guns and soon our government will be like Canada, telling people to leave their doors unlocked so criminals don't have to break in where they could hurt the homeowner.
