741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More BitShares greed. on: January 04, 2015, 12:51:18 AM
This is very obviously just a proposal for the community to discuss the pros and cons. OP is spreading FUD for whatever his reasons are.

Pretty transparent to me what his reasons might be. I don't have to spell it out, anybody who has spent a decent amount of time here can see through it.

TL:DR version: the BTS core devs have proposed to hardcode themselves into the BTS client for delegate voting purposes.
Most of the replies on the BTS thread itself are 'do not want', so the BTS community seems to be against it.
If the devs do push this through, it'll be another red flag for BTS status as 'probably not a scam', IMHO.

Oh look, its that NXT developer again trying to undermine again in the guise of 'IMHO'.

IMHO is all we have to go on in the magical world of crypto, and we've seen more than enough dodgy shit pulled over the last year to excuse my cynicism.
For the record, I still believe that BTS is probably not a scam, or at least not a deliberate attempt to defraud, but I don't have a lot of faith in its long term future. That's not an attempt to FUD on BTS, just my opinion.

The opinion of the BTS community on this proposal seems, btw, to tie in with mine, that any attempt to vote in delegates by default (no matter how trusted they may be) would be a bad idea.

And lastly....I'm not a Nxt dev, check my post history: I'm just a very talkative guy.

Edit for typo.....

Maybe I'm a bad person, but I really hope this turns out to be a scam........

744  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of coins based on NXT? on: January 01, 2015, 06:13:15 PM
You've got pretty much all of the NXT clones that I'm aware of, the only one I'm missing is NTX (really), which launched a few months ago, promising blockchain shrinkage.....it seems to have gone to zero, but I think it's still listed on BTER.

Bilshares is indeed a NXT clone, based on a fairly old version of the NXT software, and STAG is a pet project from one of the NXT team.

Theres also MiCoin, which will launch on NXTs Monetary System soon, but MS coins are going to be pretty common......... Shocked

745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Question for people who have used Dogeparty... on: December 26, 2014, 11:05:05 PM
Ummm.......hate to step on DogeParty toes, but has the OP looked at any other crypto-systems with a history of successful crowdfunding asset issues ?
*cough* NXT *cough*
746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What the rise in Ripple means. on: December 26, 2014, 08:45:40 PM
The BTS changes can't really be dismissed as 'botched PR moves'
The BTS devs (and community, I assume) seem to have changed a lot of the basic structure of how BTS will work, and they're continuing to do this.
This is much more than PR, this is about the basics of how stuff works (or not).

Newbie accounts, please just ignore, move on.

We are very close to the release date for the v1 beta of the client, that is just noise to keep attention away.

Eth.

If that is in reference to myself, well you need to pay closer attention

Take BBC seriously, guys,  his newbie account here doesn't exactly represent his real status.
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats the story with paycoin? on: December 23, 2014, 03:40:43 PM
Yeah...it's really strange these days how CoinMarketCap always seems to get their numbers wrong.

A more cynical person than me would suspect that some coins deliberately under-represent their true totals at launch, and then later correct that figure once a reasonable market price has been set for the coin. Result: massive jump in apparent market cap, without any of that nasty pumping business. Or delivering anything useful........ Shocked

The best bit is that the market (yeah, us.) always falls for the trick, at least so far. Maybe PayCoin won't get away with it, but almost no-one looked twice when Ripple and Bitshares did it. (Ripple even did it twice, ffs.... Roll Eyes )

Shit, if the US government decided to make everybody twice as rich, by printing twice as many dollar bills.....what do you think would happen?

749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Great podcast episode on altcoins from Sovryn Tech - thoughts ? on: December 23, 2014, 10:36:35 AM
He's got a good point: BitCoin as the solid basis for the crypto-currency ecosystem, with NXT used to power all of the second generation functionality: asset issues, coloured coins, sidechains, marketplaces, etc.

Given this BTC/NXT setup many other cryptos become pretty much redundant.........especially when you include SuperNet as part of the NXT eco-system.
750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: December 23, 2014, 12:17:03 AM

0.3m NEM is a lot, not measly at all.

The NXT you spend to buy them is going to be worth less and less so you did good by converting your NXT to NEM.

Hmmmm....not so sure about that, NEM dudes.  Grin
I'm hoping/fairly confident that NEM will be a success, but I'm pretty damn sure that NXT will be coming out a winner in the 2015 crypto-wars.....

Anyway, if you guys are in search of a fiat gateway for NEM (which is a good thing), I suggest that you have a talk to this lot:

www.ccedk.com
https://coinomat.com/
https://www.coinimal.com/

I'm fairly sure that one (or all) would be willing to list NEM when it launches.

Next story should be about the XC/Blocknet scam  Cheesy

No. It should be about PFC: 842.27 BTC today on CEX. This is a mega pump on an epic scale.

Damn was hoping that link was to a vid of a peeper videoing a chick undressing when a monster jumps in front of screen. I can't find it anymore.

Nah...just some insane pump action that didn't seem to work all that well:
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/profitcoin/
The numbers claim that PFC traded almost three times it's full market cap in the last 24.
Yeah, seems legit.
752  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: reddit notes on: December 22, 2014, 11:28:11 AM
I'm going to agree with Istanbul34 here: either issue an Asset on the NXT Asset Exchange system (coloured coin implementation, basically) or use the NXT Monetary System to issue a full crypto-currency based on the NXT blockchain (sidechains).

Monetary System is currently live on the NXT TestNet:
https://nxtforum.org/monetary-system/
https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-4-2e/

So check it out, make your own currency.....
753  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paycoin (XPY) is scam on: December 22, 2014, 01:16:59 AM
i invested my savings into this so i hope it works out, if it doesnt pump then i have nothing left i believe this could skyrocket to probably $150 or so all the signs say so, ill be rich soon i cant wait for the day, thank god for this coin thankyou guys Smiley

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought PayCoin was intended to be capped at $20 ?

756  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why my doge is going down ? on: December 21, 2014, 12:10:10 AM
@dataispower:
Thanks for the info......so there is no absolute hard cap on the Doge total, but it should remain in the neighbourhood of 100 billion, which is almost where it is now at 96 billion ?

I'll re-phrase my opinion above to:
Hell, hold it if you like. If the 100 billlion cap holds, then the value of an individual Doge will increase from now on as Doge gains market cap.

I've always liked the way Doge opened up the mainstream to crypto, but I'm definitely not a Shibe, so I'll say this very quietly : Doge 2 da Moooonnnnn!!!!!!
757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why my doge is going down ? on: December 20, 2014, 09:46:59 PM
so, the more experienced ones.. what would you suggest, i have about 1000000 doges left after some investments, what would you do with them..? invest somewhere? sell for btc? for another alt? i feel like no longer in a mood to hold them for a year after reading all this..  Roll Eyes no big deal you know, its ok ;] but i dont want to get upset if they go down and down  Wink
Doge is an inflationary currency, with no cap on total coins.......this means that mining it and selling nice fresh Doge is profitable (mostly), but that holding isn't a good idea.
The price may spike occasionally, allowing you to sell at a profit, but over the long term the value of an individual Doge (or a million) will drop.

Edited: see a few posts below......

I'd sell now (or sometime over the next few days) If you sell, then throw the resulting BTC into second generation cryptos like NXT or CounterParty.
If you like old-school: stick with BTC, try Bitmark, maybe BitcoinDark. Good assets right now are SkyNET, Coinomat and possibly StorjCoinX.
There may be is probably other good stuff out there, but the above selection I know to be good, legit projects with lots of potential.
Oh, yeah, take some SuperNET as well.......
758  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are altcoins, in general, worthless and pointless? on: December 20, 2014, 09:29:42 PM
i think making another coin market capitalization site, with only the legit coins listed is a good idea.  but how to decide which is legit and which are outright, pure scams is the problem.

or maybe coinmarketcap.com should start delisting proven scamcoins...?

Yeah...like that'll work. Look at BitBay for example.
By now everyone concerned knows it's at least 80% scam.......that's been proven pretty much beyond any doubt by some of the main players.
And yet people are still defending it as a legit project.
Given this level of idiotic belief in something, how in hell can we accurately define a scam and exclude it?

760  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stellar is skyrocketing! on: December 19, 2014, 09:08:18 AM
Careful......both XRP and STR are starting to slide right now on the x/CNY markets.
Could just be profit taking before the next pump, could be the start of a crash/price correction.
Remember: most Chinese investors really do not give a rats ass about the tech/ethos behind a currency. They will not hodl because they believe in something.....
