Are you able to completely do a power restart on the SP10 with the web gui? Are you able to do a power restart using the command line interface, if there even is one?

Person who bought mine isn't near the hardware and was asking me if I knew there was a way. Can you even SSH into these?

Also, Spondoolie, congratulations on a great sale with your SP10's.

This place is a sham. Missing payouts are still happening to this minute. I've contacted supported and they keep telling me they will increase my cloud plan to compensate for the missing payments and I keep telling them I DO NO CLOUD HOST WITH YOU. They just don't understand what I'm trying to tell them, even with the screen shots I've shown them. They're basically not paying miners randomly and taking the coin for themselves. Here is another screen shot from 2 minutes ago. This will be a cluser fck for miners trying to get their rewards. When I looked at my balance I was wondering why it was so low. It's so slow because Ghash isn't paying me my reward to mine there!!! Again, back and forth with support with no solution in site for a long time on this one. So basically the last 4 days Ghash has randomly stopped paying my reward for mining there. How I could ever figure out 4 days worth of random non payments is, well, would be impossible for me. Jumping ship from this place, not paying miners and letting it go for more then a day is bad enough, but 4 days and still happening? I wonder how many bitcoin they have made from this little scam?

Can someone please recommend a good noise-cancelling server rack, which will be able to handle the heat and power for SP10? I am considering to buy some, need to figure out, how to handle that noise Smiley

Thanks in advance!

Cheers.

Data center racks use outside air to keep the servers cool. It would be real cool to have a self cooling data rack with built in silence material to the point where you can't hear anything, even from standing right next to it. Unfortunately this rack could be built and made, but would cost a ton of money.

I woke up at 2am one morning, walked into my office and just yanked the power cord to my SP10. Just not designed for home use. Those are high-end enterprise fans in those rigs and good quality power supplies too. No matter where you put one of those miners, you'll always hear that whining noise the fans make, and it will slowly make you go crazy. Smiley That's why I had to sell mine. I didn't want to believe a miner advertised for home (right off the home page) could be that loud. Hey, my mistake. Live and learn. It also reminded me one of those gas blower heaters you put in your garage in the winter. My room temperature went up to 107 degrees while it was 65 degrees outside. Once I saw that I knew I had to sell them because summer is coming and when it hits that 95 degrees everyday, there's no way to keep any of those miners cool in a home, unless you have commercial cooling products installed. Good luck, and lets see some pictures!!!!!

Just noticed that on the WebHostingTalk forum the price is only $50/month and here it is $150/month. I know I'm missing something.

It's a matter of power usage and from the lack of info on the WebHostingTalk forum. There the power isn't mentioned and typical 1U servers need just around 300W-400W to run. Quotes from DataCenters include only a limited amount of power per U space. Bitcoin miners are unusual when it comes to this because they need A LOT of power compared to regular servers.

So in short, it  was just a mistake?
Thanks!

2 Spondoolie SP10's for sale in NJ

If you live in or around NJ and want a couple SP10's let me know. Dad and I are selling ours that we just received this week. Both work perfectly, are built like tanks but just a little too noisy for us in our homes. My girlfriend rules my world I guess. We just don't have the accommodations and setup like some of you have at home so that's why we are selling them. And it kills me as I write this because bitcoin is now over $600.

We paid $2795+$193 shipping = $2988

We are selling both for $5200, which is $2600 for each one. Gives you almost $400 off each one. Please, the price is firm.

If you are interested please message me here on the forums and I'll give you my contact information. I would need to drive my SP10 to my Dad's place, which is a couple hours away so if you are interested please contact me as soon as you can. I'll check the forums as much as I can today.

Thank you,

Michael

What is a group buy? I've never done one and always thought everyone would chip in the same amount of money for how ever many rigs you are buying then host them somewhere and then split the rewards.  Is that close?

For some reason after multiple successful fedex deliveries... my next order was shipped DHL?

I did read they were going to try different delivery companies. I think FedEx is the best, but DHL works Saturdays, and maybe that's what their looking for.

What the hell Ghash? You aren't just stealing bitcoin from people, are you?

Can't wait for Scrypt cloud hashing...with all this Altcoins...  Grin

Question:

Can we mine the coins of our choice with "Scrypt cloud hashing" (in GHash pool of course ^^) ?

Is there a layman's way of explaining what Scrypt mining is? I wanted to explain to my Dad, but I can't even come up with a reasonable way to say it. Probably because I don't know enough about it myself.

Lol... You've been a bitcoiner since 2012...
Look. Here is how mining works.
Miner take the transactions, bundle them, simplify them. That's data A.
Data B is the hash of the previous block.
Data C is a completely random part of data.
A + B + C = Hash.

That's how I explain it to people, even though it's not that correct.

Well, I know what's going on but trying to explain it to a family member is quite hard sometimes. So I was looking for a way that other people would say it. I just tell him it is a big calculator that makes a little money, then the 20 questions.

I like the additional GH/s, but it's 300W more then announced. May soon kill a default 220V 16A outlet. (I've read 24/7 a default outlet shouldn't be over 2500W)

People will be able to run it at lower power settings. We will keep the different modes.

The description for the SP30 Yukon from the website says, " All of these major improvements still allow us to maintain a slim 2 U case suitable for both home and data center hosting.", you really need to start pulling "home" out of the description at this level. I really can't imagine any home running one of these and sucking down 2800W and not having thermal/cooling issues.

Please keep in mind I'm speaking of homes in the US. If you are out of the US and can just plug one of these in an outlet and run with no problems then god bless you!

873  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 30, 2014, 08:13:53 AM
Didn't a few people post in the SP30 GB that they anticipated up to 6.5THs on the SP30 with
good cold air intake and fine tune overclocking??

Zvisha?

The numbers come from thermal simulations based on anticipated ASIC wattage etc`. Not my department.
You can ask me in August Smiley

I'm going to invent a NEW way to keep processing chips cool that cost no money doing it and make myself a billionaire.

Has anyone replaced the stock fans yet so it doesn't sound like a jet plane? Or has anyone ran the the miner without the outer casing and/or the fans and used an alternative way of cooling? I doubt opening up the case and just sticking a couple powerful floor fans on it will do the trick, no? Smiley

One person responded with literally installing a radiator with temp gauges and all that. Thanks for that info but that's a little too much for me, and sounds just like the car "Back To The Future". I can't have that in the house. I envy the guys that have huge homes and girlfriends/wives that don't care. Lucky you!

I'll be posting the prices of the two SP10's that I have for sale. I'm in NJ and prefer you (the buyer) are to. No sense in shipping. I really love these things and how they operate. They seem very stable and the UI is great. Can't beat that automated firmware upgrade.

Good job Spondoolie-tech!
Thanks guys,
MD

tldr, there are no appropriate cooling mods for this. The insane density is only possible with a negative pressure air tunnel which is what they have.

My cousin is a good design engineer with electrical components and modules, a good one at that. If I wasn't selling the unit, I'd send it over to him to for a re-design for the home, He'd most likely figure something out, but has no time right now. He's a bitcoin lover too.

GHash, but these disconnects have been more frequent also. So even if you act fast in getting the connection back up and running, it still is happening more often on a daily basis. I'm looking more at the big picture here. The problem that is causing this to happen, is that being handled and being taken care of?

Thank you-
877  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 29, 2014, 08:15:43 AM
How do you configure a pool just to be a backup pool? Just add another pool? No settings on that either, so if it does jump to the second pool, will it ever try to re-connect to the first pool again in a certain amount of time?
878  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 29, 2014, 08:12:52 AM
I am not sure on the AMP's bu the one I have is pulling right now 1040 watts at the wall on a 20 amp breaker.

2x SP10 finally arrived, US customs released the captives..

Whonesta, I read in the S2 thread that you just took possession of some S2 machines too.
You've got quite a collection going there … adding a SP30 this year too ?

~L)L~

I will have my eyes open come Q3/Q4 ( Cheesy Grin Cheesy)
I plan to move the S1 racks (6xS1) back to the house from DC to heat, so that should open up 4KWs or so.

The SP10 is looking great so far so I can not wait until their Gen2 stuff comes out.

Does anyone know how many AMPS this SP10 takes up during normal operation?

I think I was told about 9-10 amps.
879  Bitcoin / Pools / Ghash having their typical problems again... on: May 29, 2014, 08:06:57 AM
Multiple disconnects on a daily basis again, which is havoc on my miners. You'd think by now they would have the tiger by the balls and have all this stuff straightened out by now.

I can only connect to the UK server again, same issue as last week.
880  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: May 29, 2014, 07:54:21 AM
Same here. My connection to the US server just keeps disconnecting and is just becoming annoying if anything. By now you guys should have your shit together pretty good and not have this nonsense with disconnecting hundreds of miners on a daily basis. I'm ready to switch back to my original pool provider.
