If you are directly involved with YaCy in any way you should def push it to the bitcointalk community. Very bright minds around here willing to help shape an open internet, while they can still can... I am watching interviews with Michael Christen right now on YouTube.

Many bitcoin inspired projects are flourishing. There is a Renaissance like enthusiastic atmosphere around some of them, YaCy need to be more exposed.

I am not directly involved with YACy, but can make software like this. Ill need to study more about blockchain networks tho, so far I understand say 60% of it. Would you use such a search engine daily?
1722  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [SUPPORT NEW PROJECT] 1st BITCOIN ONLINE EMBASSY --- VISIT US! on: May 17, 2014, 10:32:44 PM
The ATM looks very realistic, good job.

Perhaps you could link IRC chat into it. You would directly have a lot of chatters in the virtual world, except they would not move around  Smiley

So the idea is, a virtual world in which people can easily learn about bitcoin?

BTC will never reach the 10 000 $ worth.
BTC will never reach the   5 000 $ worth.
BTC will also never reach again the 1000 $ worth !!!

Reminds me of the guys who said "BTC will never reach the $100 worth"  Cheesy
1728  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Warning! Protect Internet Neutrality! on: May 17, 2014, 04:09:24 PM
yes, this is a really cool concept. I could make a decentralized search engine also, but I need to study upon blockchain technology  Smiley

It may be impossible to google the word sex soon...
I dont use google  Smiley

Quote
Maybe the solution would be to create a new form of search engine network so powerful people would say "bitcoin it" instead of "google it"

Sure, decentralized technology has a lot of power. For example there is http://www.yacy.net/en/index.html, but there may wel lbe one based on blockchain technology

I have not heard much about net neutrality, can you eleborate?

Good thing about 999dice.com is that it is faucet too, so you can claim 200 satoshi every 10 minutes and test this bot without any losses.

This is very good. 0.000002 BTC / 10 minutes  Smiley.

Is there a way the bot would show another interface?  I prefer blue or light gray.

I dont know if this has been solved already, but this is probably a problem printing the variable to the screen. Its logical because "" is an empty string, which the machine does not understand how to convert into a double.  You may want to add try/catch, but Im not sure if visual basic understand this. Alternatively make sure the String.length is at least 1.

I have lower chance then 50% to win, Its like casino...the site is always win!
This is idea of the gambling sites.. but if you only use the faucet or referral links, you always win Smiley

1731  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: May 17, 2014, 03:36:08 PM
Say in 1 month + 1000. It would require at least 9 months. Now the coin will fluctuate in between, say it is fluctuating 50% of the time. This would lead to 18 months or 1.5 year. I would say between 2015.5 and 2018 it could be at $10.000. If it happens, people are really going to regret it.. there will be new forum members wondering when it rises to $100.000  Cheesy

1732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im fairly new to bitcoins! im looking for some advice on: May 17, 2014, 03:28:30 PM
Buying is the fastest.

Alternatively, if you just want to try the system, you can get some small amounts to toy around with using say faucets (will take you a week, and a total of 4-5 minutes to get 0.0001 BTC).

1734  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much would Bitcoin be by May 31,2014 on: May 17, 2014, 03:23:25 PM
In 2 weeks, hmm, if the past is any lesson I think between 400 and 600. I am a little more optimistic and think $464. Things can go very fast tho, it may well be $600. If I figured out the way to accurately predict bitcoin on the short term, Id be rich now  Tongue

I've heard about BTC quite some time ago but I'm always pretty much in a hurry and I couldn't dedicate enough attention to the cryptocurrency revolution.
Some months ago however, a friend of mine contacted me with this "free money" thing. I wasn't quite on that mindset and I warned him of the risk with no benefit. His plans very likely hit a wall, but I decided to research a bit on crypto to update my skillset to more modern programming techniques.

Many people are scared of new technologies. This has been the case with the first train, the first airplanes etc. Sure there is always risk, but if you get the BTC for simple tasks  you are not losing anything. For example, I get BTC for talking on these forums and enjoy it  Smiley So in that way, the risk is very low, my life does not depend on it. In addition, there are extra features: like if I have family in the other side of the world, I can send a family member some money which arrives in 5 minutes, from which they can buy a nice present.
When you get used to bitcoin, the 1-3 workdays waiting for money transfer just become completely absurd. You may know how fast we can get used to new technologies.. its been only like what.. 10-15 years since most people get mobile phones?

By the way, I am somewhat surprised this cryptocoin revolution really isn't a revolution at all yet. I know cryptocurrency is already pretty much a success in many financial uses but I wonder how much time it will take for cryptocurrency to get in the day-to-day business. I'll sure want to see that happen!

Things do not happen overnight. I remember as a kid, back in the 90s, that you had like 5 websites you could visit, one of them being Yahoo. And you could do this cool stuff like search or email.  At the time people would say 'Why would I need the web? nobody is going to need it'. Look at where we are today.  Change always takes time, and within 5 years Bitcoin has caused a lot of change already.  Remember that Bitcoin is not like some silly website like Twitter, but a completely new technology.

Bitcoin has the network effect, like a phone has.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect. The more people use Bitcoin, the more valuable it becomes. There are at least 4400 bitcoin accepting stores right now. You are still an early adapter if you join. The features of digital currencies are too good to just ignore, it can make life much easier for tourists, shopping, business etc.

Imagine the situation, say 10 years from now, by which you take an airplane to the other side of the world. You can pay everything you want directly with bitcoin. No need for changing currency.. easy right? In addition, you would understand the value of things.. if you say $2 you may know what its worth, but what about 378 japanese yen. its much or few? so I think cryptocurrency will be benefitial in this area.

For online shopping it is troublesome to go trough process of forms, registrations.. I want to be able to buy things online with one mouse click.

Give it some time.

Just one question " why most of the funny commercial is sex oriented..? "

Because sex is the greatest common divisor. Some person may be interest in ships, another person in cars.. but its likely both are interest in sex  Smiley Like they say, sex sells.

What is about a chat support - yes I want it to support a Chat feature and indeed I am thinking of making a 3d models for a visitors so you can meet other people walking around Embassy Smiley and chat with each other Smiley

Alternatively, you may want 3d scanning software, which creates 3d models based on camera input. Half a year ago it was still state-of-the-art technology, I must say I dont know how things evolved in the meanwhile.

Or you could skip a bit of the modelling, and make it like minecraft. I've heard this game is very popular and uses just cubes.  Perhaps as name Bitcraft  Smiley.

When it comes time to send you the data, I just delete it - LOL! You already paid me to store it over the last year. So, what's the solution to this scenario?

I am not the owner of this software, but I think you want to solve this trough having several copies inside the network. This is what HDFS (the google filesystem) does.
Of course, an attacker could host a lot of files on a botnet and take the whole botnet offline.  Alternatively, you could spread tiny files across the network, of which a large group has a copy.  If I am not mistaking, this is something that bittorrent is doing. It could have like a reward system, if you upload data or participate in supporting the network you get a small btc ?

Another issue is speed and availability. Someone turns their computer off, you dont want the files to disappear for say 12 hours. If you store say a movie, you dont want it to be transfered at 2 kb/s.

1739  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [SUPPORT NEW PROJECT] 1st BITCOIN ONLINE EMBASSY --- VISIT US! on: May 17, 2014, 02:12:15 PM
I think you want to add little games inside it, by which playing you can earn btc.
Does the simulator support chat?
1740  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Kickstarter idea (bitcoin price LED ticker) on: May 17, 2014, 01:50:32 PM
Quote
Yeah, but it's a lot nicer if you have a ticker on the wall like a digital clock of sorts... Ah well. I suppose the hardcore traders with tons of bitcoin would buy it even for 60-100$, but I wouldn't.

You can skip production costs, if you produce in another continent. For example, you can get one of this flying drone helicopters for about $10 in China (I have one).  Of course, you have shipping costs;

Perhaps a simple serial/usb cable to a tiny board, with the LCD attached. Prints whatever data you send from the computer.
Here is a list of some cheap boards : http://www.intorobotics.com/alternative-arduino-boards/
Example prices:
MSP: USD $10
Teensy : USD $16.00
Funnel : USD $16.84

For example the MSP has input/output pins for easy integration of external devices. It does not come with an LCD screen tho.  Im guessing the total cost would be around $20 to $25 to produce in the cheapest way possible using standard boards.

Alternatively, you could link the LCD screen directly to your computer and use computer software to interact with it. Assuming the LCD has some mico-controller attached to it.
