do you think can FreeMason accept bitcoin ?

Why wouldn't they be able to?

They are able to, but they don't accept it currently (from what it seems). Perhaps we should inform them?
Have a look at  https://freemason.webconnex.com/contribute the only payment method is creditcard.
1102  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the US press really that free? on: July 02, 2014, 05:12:55 PM
I hear people say over and over that the US press/journalism is nothing like in authoritarian states like Russia and China where journalists can't write anything negative about the government. But is this really the case? Mainstream media in the US ignores the corruption of the US government, while reporters that try to break the silence by releasing important stories get harassed and silenced. Just recently I read about the story of James Risen, a New York Times journalist who is about to go to jail for refusing to give up a source he used to write his anti-government book "State of War".

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/03/us/james-risen-faces-jail-time-for-refusing-to-identify-a-confidential-source.html

What do you guys think?

It depends on what you write about. We have seen the attacks on various journalists or journalistic sources: Julian Assange, Bradley Manning, Edward Snowden etc. Anything too revealing in the eyes of the US gets censored and the journalists hunted down. The same applies to the UK, where recently information got destroyed by force (MI6 went in). The US is no longer "land of the free". Sure, it's more free than the North Korean press - but not that much more free than Russian or Chinese press. It may well be, that the US is going in that direction though.
1103  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea Throws Another Temper Tantrum on: July 01, 2014, 03:54:16 PM
I completely forgot about North Korea. They are quite silent these days  Huh

Only a few have laptops? Heard that the TOR browser was invented to help North Koreans access the internet without govt. spying, isn't it?

Most North Koreans don't have laptops, so that would not make a lot of sense. TOR was originally sponsored by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. The U.S. State Department, the Broadcasting Board of Governors, and the National Science Foundation are major contributors according to Wikipedia. Privacy is very important for the military, so I would not be to surprised if it was developed for that reason. Nevertheless, even with TOR the mass surveillance program makes the US more vulnerable.

it is very interesting that they are able to keep the country so isolated.

It's isolated but at the same time it's open. People can visit as tourist. They can be watched 24/7 trough satellite images and drones.
In addition, there is an underground tunnel network to South Korea, which could also be used.

If the Chinese dump him, Kim will be nothing. That is, even with his 2.5 million strong army. But the problem is that he does not care about his own citizens and can do another Pol Pot in the near future.

Very true, the only reason NK still exists is because of China. If China would not be their ally, there would be one Korea now.
They should become more like China, the life for NK citizens would be better.

Seems like a good deal. Why are there different fees for paypal / western union?
1105  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Germany sacks Verizon over NSA spying on: June 28, 2014, 08:56:44 PM
Short reporting clip from Russia Today on it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yxy8UShBjKc
Quote
Citing concerns over the NSA's wiretapping of Chancellor Angela Merkel and other top officials' phones, the German Interior Ministry announced Thursday that it will not renew its contract with Verizon to provide service for government ministries. As part of an effort to revamp its secure communications networks, the country will instead rely on Germany's own Deutsche Telekom. RT's Ameera David has more details on the announcement and its fallout.
Apparently, Merkel got herself a new 3400$ Blackberry w/ some special crypto chip in it so that all her communications are on lock down. I hope this is just a start in a world backlash against the NSA as well as continual and rising opposition to it from many her in America (notice I don't say the United States).

Merkel does it for public image, behind the doors she is on the same side. The German secret service is coorporating with the NSA, all germans citizen data (and US citizen data) is exchanged - and both have access to each others tools.
1106  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think humans will eventually evolve into robots? on: June 28, 2014, 08:34:46 PM
I think 'robot' is the wrong term ..

Bionic or bio-hybrid might be closer to it ..
We're seeing it now what with artificial hips and knees etc ..
Organ and limb replacements will increase over time ..
The uber wealthy will do anything to keep their brains alive ..
Human brain with the normal blood/plasma in an entirely artificial body ..
Transhumanism here we come ..

Triff .. who won't make it to the 'singularity' .. too old .. Sad

You are right about artificial tools inside the human body.
Living forever may not be a pleasure.

1107  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Mexican Military chopper opens fire on US Border Patrol Agents on: June 28, 2014, 04:23:19 PM
How much you wanna bet that chopper crew was responding to a bounty some drug cartel put on American border agents and did that on purpose so they could claim a couple of kills. Then they could claim they mistook those border agents for drug smugglers in the dark.

Not a lot of coorporation between the Mexican gov. and US gov. it seems. In such circumstances as you described it's quite possible the border agents got shot at.

1108  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think humans will eventually evolve into robots? on: June 27, 2014, 11:20:59 PM
Humans are already robots.
I agree completely.

Humans behave very much like machines. You could create a probabilistic model for a day of human life, and find out that it pretty much matches it - most of the time  Smiley
1109  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anonymous has a message for all the mega-banks who've oppressed us on: June 27, 2014, 11:00:11 PM
I don't know if this is authentic video from Anonymous group, but if it is, than i didn't understand it well, can someone explain me, what is their aim in this video? Just to visit the link?

Everybody can claim they are the anonymous group. I think, in the case of anonymous especially, the message is more important than the messenger.

1111  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No Salt in Ukraine. on: June 26, 2014, 06:43:04 PM
"Solshi net"? In which part of Ukraine is no salt.. and why wouldn't there be?
1112  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea threatens "merciless" response over Seth Rogen film on: June 26, 2014, 06:41:03 PM
North Korea is always talking about war, but China would not allow it. They have financial interest in both the South and the North. In addition, I think Kim is not stupid - he just uses these claims to seem powerful to the citizens.  There's simply no way, at present, that north korea would take over the US.

Problem with Tor and IP2 is that onion routing in a low-latency node based network is a fundamentally flawed concept. If you want anonymity against the feds, we will need a different conceptual design.

The way TOR is constructed is indeed drawing attention. I think, in order to have anonymity, a new conceptual design is needed as you mentioned.

What seem to be the issue on TOR network?

There are several issues. For one the mere usage of the TOR network itself, makes you into the subset of 'suspicious users'. The pool not using TOR is still larger. It's not a perfect solution. the NSA has a technique that targets outdated Firefox browsers codenamed EgotisticalGiraffe. It has several weaknesses, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_%28anonymity_network%29#Weaknesses

1114  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Single Bitcoin will Worth $100K - Do You Believe it? on: June 26, 2014, 09:33:50 AM
Now they say it will be $100K in the USD...

Well what if the USD is worthless?  What if the USD is worth tons?  How can they make such bold predictions like that?

Anyway....Would be insane if it every happened in today's standards as far as the USD goes.  I for one would absolutely love it...

USD is expected to go down the way GPB did when British lose their empire.

If you are borrowing USD to buy bitcoin and bitcoin/usd pair went up many folds, then you will do very well if you are right.
Not really a student of history are you? UK Is still one of the wealthiest economies in the world, even without it's 'Empire'! US has barely managed 60 years of 'Peaking'  and it's throwing it all away with insane monetary policy to service the truly wealthy who are actually running your country. Don't get me started...

Wealthiest in what way? British were bailed out by the IMF in the 70's because no country will lend them any money.

They were lucky to pump additional north sea oil in the 80's (and peaked in mid 80's). Now that the oil is drying up, and international financial center is leaving London, what industry can replace these two gigantic source of income?

The IMF is a very corrupt organisation, they are not a creditable source. Aside from that, the UK empire has integrated with the Five Eyes. (Australia,Canada,New Zealand,United Kingdom,United States of America ).

1115  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wired: How to Anonymize Everything You Do Online on: June 26, 2014, 09:22:44 AM

The challenge that this faces is the fact that many sites will restrict/block access from TOR exit nodes. These forums will even make you pay a (very) small amount of BTC in order to access your account if you try to access via TOR (AFAIK this is only a one time payment).

Does this bitcoin forum allow user to use tor to register and post?

1116  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US police departments are increasingly militarised, finds report on: June 26, 2014, 09:19:18 AM

And if you think militarization is not frightening enough, you would be pleased to know that the police force actually rejects applicants who score too high on an IQ test.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/court-oks-barring-high-iqs-cops/story?id=95836

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/gnxp/2012/01/too-smart-to-be-a-good-cop/

 Embarrassed

Higher IQ score than 110 is not allowed?  Huh
I cannot join the police force then... unless I fake the test
1117  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think humans will eventually evolve into robots? on: June 26, 2014, 01:01:31 AM
What if we already are robots?
What if the conversion happened without us noticing it?
All that medicine doctors give you when you are sick, or whatever.

Maybe we already are robots!

But all joking aside I don't think there will ever be a straight conversion, I think people would have the choice whether or not to go the way of the "borg". Or maybe they won't have a decision, the way the country is going we might have free will or choice in a few years!
I feel that by the time we can put your brain on a hard drive, we will probably be making our own brains and organs.

So here's an interesting question: If we erase your brain and copy the brain data of sana8410 into yours. Then who are you?

If this could work, travelling would be so much faster. One could do an exchange, where two people switch brain data over the internet. Question is, if the brain data copied into the other person is not you - or your own brain is erased from the host body - then who are you?

This sounds pretty good. I wonder what price tag they'll put on it.

1119  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wired: How to Anonymize Everything You Do Online on: June 25, 2014, 08:28:06 PM
I think a number of proxies or VPNs may be better for anonymity than TOR. Correct me if I'm wrong.
1120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's price on: June 25, 2014, 02:18:54 PM
He made a decision to make the base integer unit in the protocol equivalent to 0.00000001 BTC.  That would seem to imply that he may have believed that BTC could increase in value to the point where 0.01 µBTC would be able to purchase approximately the same amount of goods or services as $0.01 can purchase today.

I agree on this, he also designed the system so that bitcoin would be deflationary. This suggests he knew the market price would rise, even if he is not interested in fiat.
