Do you think any alt coin is going to have market cap or market price as big as btc in the next years?
1162  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wired: How to Anonymize Everything You Do Online on: June 22, 2014, 09:09:48 AM
Long story short, you should use TOR to maintain anonymity online.

The challenge that this faces is the fact that many sites will restrict/block access from TOR exit nodes. These forums will even make you pay a (very) small amount of BTC in order to access your account if you try to access via TOR (AFAIK this is only a one time payment).

I have seen sites that do not even allow users to register or visit using TOR. But these are not .onion sites but the regular web.  I think the downside of TOR is that the subset which uses it is much smaller than the total set, thus making it easier to find you for an ISP, correct me if I'm wrong.
1163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jeff Garzik's Bitcoin Balance Revealed on: June 21, 2014, 11:33:29 PM
Who is Jeff Garzik by the way ? Searched Google. There is no Wikipedia entry !!!

Jeff Garzik is one of Bitcoin’s core developers. He also worked on the Linux kernel and other things.
This is his homepage http://linux.yyz.us/projects.html  Smiley

Whonix seems very interesting indeed,

Quote
Whonix is an operating system focused on anonymity, privacy and security. It's based on the Tor anonymity network[1], Debian GNU/Linux[2] and security by isolation. DNS leaks are impossible, and not even malware with root privileges can find out the user's real IP.

Whonix consists of two parts: One solely runs Tor and acts as a gateway, which we call Whonix-Gateway. The other, which we call Whonix-Workstation, is on a completely isolated network. Only connections through Tor are possible

Source: https://www.whonix.org/

This will allow some level of anonymity and privacy for tech people, but the mainstream is still left out in the open  Smiley
The article focusses a lot on Tor, which I think is a good but I don't think it's the only method.
1165  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VSEM PIZDETS. Hunderts tanks in hands or Russian Ukrainians. on: June 21, 2014, 10:52:52 PM
This is for Niothor. He was asking for proof, for a few days now.

Pro-Russian troops boarding an MBT near the town of Yanakiyevo, Donetsk oblast. You can see clearly that the men are wearing the uniform of the Donetsk People's Army:

A larger image here https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fpbs.twimg.com%2Fmedia%2FBqk7XrXIMAESmCi.jpg&t=541&c=g0V86sDlQbe-iw

Clearly a T-72 tank.

Clearly based on what?

A t72 has it's IR on the right side of the canon the t64 on the left.
Also the ammunition box on that side make me thing it's a t64b  model or an improved version like the mb2 or br like the one below

^^^ My source was Lifenews. They had posted that a tank battle is ongoing in Krasnyi Liman with 70 tanks on the Ukrainian side, and 15 on the rebel side. Al Jazeera confirmed that tanks were involved, but didn't gave a number. (Only the Russian media have reporters in Donbass, but according to you they are full of lies).

You said confirmed:
OK. Confirmed. Some 15 rebel tanks took part in the battle outside Krasnyi Liman yesterday. Biggest battle staged by the Donetsk People's Army so far. Some 4,000 rebel fighters and 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers took part. Heavy fighting also taking place in the nearby areas of Yampol and Seversk.

where are the reports about the tanks and the 34 000 fighters?
Link to at list two sources , I'm not waiting for a 6 block confirmation but at least two claiming what you've said.

Thanks, learn something new each day Smiley The tank is quite an old model.

Did you use that form? http://bit.do/Primedice

The UK official is not a lawyer. These days data is worth money and data can affect your live, the mass surveillance programs are completely against the interest of the people.

Trusting social networking site with your private information is borderline idiocy

Sometimes people think they are having a private conversation on theses networks, and do not wish to share this information with anyone but the receiver.
Apparantly the MITM attack is legalized now.

Recently we have seen a lot of government failures and scandals.
What is your opinion, do we need the government or not?
1171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you sometimes think Bitcoin will fail? on: June 21, 2014, 02:41:49 PM
The more you wait for confirmations the more is secure the transaction, it's your choice how long you want to wait.
if you go to coffee shop, the longer you wait, the colder you coffee becomes.

I don't know how things work in your country but where I leave, we sit down, make an order, we get our order and spend let's say an hour there and then ask for the bill.
If you ask for the bill earlier then you are all good  Wink

Probably he ment a take-away coffee at say an airport. Despite that, I think 1 confirmation is enough. I don't think it is really a problem if one single transaction of a coffee is not going to work
1172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I converted all my bitcoins to litecoins on: June 21, 2014, 02:29:49 PM
Don't think that was very good move at all.  Personally i've got 70/30 going on between btc/ltc.  And strongly considering moving in the opposite direction you did...moving ltc into btc.

I don't blame you LTC has been going down and it seems it doesn't pick up

This. Litecoin has not done much of an uptrend since the 40$. (January 2014).

15k USD rent. I think he's doing just fine for now. With the number of people he pissed off however, he will likely have to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life.

For sure, some people have lost more than 800 BTC (around 470.000 $)
1174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you sometimes think Bitcoin will fail? on: June 21, 2014, 02:08:00 PM
I am normally optimistic, but not in a good mood right now.
BTC is too hard for common people....Too risky....Confirmations sometimes take way too long....Competing with powerful forces in banking and Gov't....Bad rep in the media....child porn....gambling...drugs....51%.........blah, blah...
Do you sometimes think Bitcoin will fail?

Please be honest, that's all.

Edit:
Confirmations sometimes take Wwwaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long
The last block was 38 minutes ago and that is "not ready for prime time" or usable in the real world......We are delusional, this thing is not working!!   Shocked

As compared to a traditional international payment using bank it is extremely fast. I don't think it is too hard, it just takes a bit of time to learn. To use Microsoft Word or Facebook is actually harder than using a Bitcoin Wallet. I think, in all technological revolutionary projects there is going to be a lot of resistance.

As for media, I'm not sure how many people take them seriously these days.  Cheesy

1176  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iraq Isis Crisis: Medieval Sharia Law Imposed on Millions in Nineveh Province on: June 21, 2014, 01:45:15 PM

The Kurds are not backing down:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG2OxcxN7AA

Kurdish weaponry itself is medieval. They are armed with AK-47 and RPGs, while the ISIS is armed with captured Humvees, Artillery guns and tanks. Anyway it is not the job of the Kurdish Peshmerga. The cowards of the Iraqi Army should fight ISIS.

AK-47 is a relatively good gun, but I don't think it can stop tanks or humvees  Cheesy. Then again, in a battle it is not always the one with the best weapons that "wins".
1177  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VSEM PIZDETS. Hunderts tanks in hands or Russian Ukrainians. on: June 21, 2014, 01:39:48 PM
Interesting how there are different stories with this exact same picture of tanks.

Quote
Russian tanks are on the move even as Ukraine’s president on Friday announced a week-long unilateral ceasefire in fighting with pro-Russian militants.

Quote
Pro-Russian troops prepare to travel in a tank on a road near the town of Yanakiyevo, Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine,

The T-64 was conceived in Kharkiv, Ukraine. In other words, it are Ukrainian tanks. One of the factories is the Malyshev Factory.

One 5 year old kid killed in Slavyansk.

Kiev’s army shelling kills 5yo boy & his mom in Slavyansk

http://rt.com/news/167276-slavyansk-shelling-child-died/

Some of the Slavyansk residents are refusing to evacuate. Tens of thousands remaining.  Angry

In the video you can see the boy is still breathing (1:16), so he would have died after the recording. Very sad this political game is taking so many victims
1179  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Child rape victim: Hillary lied about me to defend my rapist on: June 21, 2014, 01:25:53 PM
Hillary always lies. She lied about Bosnia. She lied about Lewinsky. She lied about Kosovo. She lied about Janet Reno. Whenever she opens her mouth, she lies. But it doesn't matter anyway. She will be elected as the President of the United States in 2016 by her retard supporters, no matter what she does.

Confirmed about Bosnia, "I made a mistake, it happens". I think it is very plausible that Hillary will be the next president. Somehow she reminds me of Bush.

1180  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Students Surprised to Find Noah's Ark Feasible in society on: June 21, 2014, 01:15:15 PM
Usually folks' idea of Noah's ark are based on children's Sunday school lessons, etc.  The following students were tasked with putting one aspect to the test based on the actual biblical account - and were surprised by the results.

http://www.icr.org/article/8039/

Advanced physics students at Leicester University were tasked with determining if the Biblical dimensions of Noah's ark—assuming it was properly constructed—could have supported the mass of 70,000 animals

The number of known living bird species varies anywhere from 9,800 to 10.000.  If you take 7 of each kind you'd get 68.600 to 490.000 animals just for birds alone. That is more than this Arc could carry.

Was this paper published on April 1st by any chance?  Grin
