1121  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Opening a new faucet - Need advice on: June 25, 2014, 02:03:29 PM
I am about to open a new faucet, I want to give out a lot of bitcoin because I think faucet's are made in a bad way.

What I have done now :

Domain
Hosting

My questions :

How much starting fund should I have to start off ? I think about giving away 1 cents worth of bitcoin hourly or daily.

I have currently 250 $ that can be allocated to the project and will have more monthly.

Will people flew away if I put ads to finance the thing ?

This is an important question considering a lot of people don't love ads.

Would people even donate if I ask on my website ?

It seem's useless to ask, I could cut the funding at some point and run it with donations.

I used to run a faucet. You need some way to get money of the site, in order to pay the visitors.
This could be by ads, which is what most faucets do. You mention people do not like ads, but
many people do use faucets.  You need to keep in mind to not pay out more than the site generates.
I don't know if people would donate.

As a kid I did police ride alongs and respected LEO like it was the word of God.  Having grown up and seen the stories of what crooked LEOs do I don't feel that way anymore.  Living in Los Angeles I can see the need for some of these types of tools like Hum-Vs, heavy machines guns, etc.  When you see what gets turned in when they have the gun buyback program you would be shocked (well maybe not if you're ex-mil).  They will regularly get anti-tank weapon, anti-air guns and even got a SAM this past year.  And LA formerly being the bank robbery capitol we get this every couple of months:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2ZwIrIB1is

We're also seeing beheadings thanks to MS13 and other drug cartel gangs in the area these days.  Unfortunately, until the gangsters tone down their weaponry, SWAT (which BTW was more or less pioneered in Los Angeles thanks to all the wackos here) will always have to keep up.

I really need to get some guns and learn how to defend my house but until that happens I'm calling 911 and relying on their training to possibly keep me alive.

I think you could do with a normal police patrol for the most part. In such cases as you mentioned, you could send in the army.
Also note that all of the police force is wearing black - this does not look particularly friendly to citizens.
1123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: New Darkcoin Faucet. Win up to $50 every hour on: June 25, 2014, 11:47:21 AM
Still no word from my developer. Im sorry to upset you guys but if you post a number between 1-10 on this thread and send me a pm with your dark address I will send out some faucet payments manually to you guys if I do not have the site active on the 25th.

I'm new to darkcoin, I think the Xk6u.. must be the public key. I found it in the receive tab  Smiley

1124  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fifa Bosses 'Secretly Doubled Their Salaries' on: June 25, 2014, 11:31:33 AM
Not a terrible surprise for me Fifa is a fairly corrupt organization and needs to be rebuilt into something else.
That said $200,000 well they could be worse seen some charity CEO's with million dollar salaries
Under the argument you get what you pay for so they won't betray you so interesting enough.

I think their salaries will continue to rise over time. Charities are usually like that, a large amount goes to the organisation and to taxes.
1125  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think humans will eventually evolve into robots? on: June 25, 2014, 10:39:01 AM
It depends what you mean by robots. I don't think the human brain will adapt to the von neumann cycle or run an operating system itself.
Humans have still different needs than machines, in a way. I think machinery will be supplementary to our bodies.
The earliest sign of this are the spyware-contained smart phones.
1126  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What mean bitcoin js? on: June 25, 2014, 10:35:34 AM
Do you mean http://bitcoinjs.org/ ?

It's a JavaScript framework, used for programming bitcoin related sites.
1127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1:1 cryptocurrency, is it true? on: June 25, 2014, 10:30:19 AM
I've never heard of such a cryptocurrency, the market price usually fluctuates.
You may want to look at http://coinmarketcap.com/ to see an overview. I think he may be misinformed.
1128  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Single Bitcoin will Worth $100K - Do You Believe it? on: June 25, 2014, 10:26:26 AM
It's possible, but there is no guarantee and it's a long way to go. For now, we have to cross the 1000$ boundary again.
But who knows what the price will be in the year 2016 or 2020.
I think, by then it's either gone way up or way down - I do not think the price will remain the same for so many years.
1129  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VSEM PIZDETS. Hunderts tanks in hands or Russian Ukrainians. on: June 25, 2014, 10:19:39 AM
I did not understand the Russian but there are sure a lot of tanks Smiley
The Russians must have a lot of weapons to handle the Ukraine
Tanks are outmoded now but still very powerful

I'm sure they have loads of weapons, Russia is much much larger than the Ukraine after all.
If you are curious you could see a military parade video  Smiley
1130  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin faucet as a form of punishment on: June 25, 2014, 10:11:11 AM
Bitcoin faucets are trying to punish me for visiting them with a tremendous amount of Ads, most of them jumping out of the blue. My eyes don't  want ot visit any more. It is not just annoying, it seems very unhealthy for the eyes. I seem to be one of the less visitor and still, they want me out or not?

You could use an Ad-blocker, which blocks out all the ads. Some sites run some detection scripts to verify if you have ads blocked or not.
The site gets their money from ads, and share a tiny part of this revenue with the visitors.
The way to avoid these ads, is simply to get bitcoins using another method, such as services. You could make way more btc in that time using this method.

1131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think satoshi expected bitcoin to be this big? on: June 24, 2014, 10:03:14 PM
He may of made it  as a little side project just to have fun with or show his friends,

Or maybe he developed it to show off to huge multinational companies so he could make a profit.

But... Do you think satoshi expected bitcoin to have this much of a following?

He had an idea that this kind of technology would get big. I think if he didn't think the idea would work, he would not spend much time on it.

1132  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sudanese Muslim woman sentenced to death for Christian conversion on: June 24, 2014, 03:36:55 PM
Hopefully not.
With the kind of international attention this case has attracted, I doubt they'd be able to keep her imprisoned for long. Unlike previous cases involving Christian missionaries preaching, Sudan is really under pressure this time.

That is debatable. Sudan has attracted quite a lot of international outcry over the three ongoing genocides in its territory (Darfur, Nuba Mountains, and Blue Nile). But still, countries such as China are cooperating with them.

China corporates with everyone as long as it's economically beneficial for them.
1133  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US police departments are increasingly militarised, finds report on: June 24, 2014, 01:06:57 PM
This is happening all over the world. Our own police regularly batter peoples doors in under the slenderest of pretexts. It just goes to show me that the police have gone from being protectors of us to protectors of the Government.
Where do they find these thugs who love to beat up their fellow citizens? We see them in Egypt, Turkey and anywhere else that the population try to exercise their rights. Even here with the police desire to kettle us all whether you are involved or not. Is there any redress? Not at all.
They say that like breeds like and I do know that there are some nasty people out there but to treat us all like that is an abomination. Whatever happened to the knock on the door? I had a great respect for the police when I was a lad but I am afraid they are doing themselves no favors.
Osama Bin Laden did more damage with his 9/11 attack than he could ever have imagined.

He who controls the money controls the people. Governments seem to increase military spending everywhere around the world.

Quote
Many police departments love the war on drugs because they can steal peoples assets and get to use the money to pay salaries and buy more guns. That is a driver for the huge increase in the swat style raids.

Sounds more like organized mafia to me
1134  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US police departments are increasingly militarised, finds report on: June 24, 2014, 12:43:38 PM
Looks like a SWAT team. If you look closely the guys are carrying machine guns, a pistol and some other weapons.
I'm rather surprised they come with a type of Humvee instead of a Tank  Cheesy
1135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Forget Password - Bitcoin Core Wallet - 100 BTC INSIDE ! on: June 24, 2014, 08:34:55 AM
It seems to me that screenshot is a fake and that guy is a troll.

The font on the image looks different, if you look closely. I highly doubt a 100 BTC wallet would not have a backup
1136  Economy / Services / Re: [HIRING] Bitcoin developer that knows Perl to modify an IRC bot on: June 24, 2014, 08:31:12 AM
*APOLOGIES IF THIS IS A DOUBLE POST, NOT SURE IF THE FIRST ONE WENT THROUGH!*

Hey there,
I'm looking for someone to modify an open source IRC bot written in perl.  It is approximately 700 lines (I will DM you the link, just ask).

It is a betting bot that uses points and I want it modified to use bitcoin instead.  I have a budget and can pay a flat rate for your time either via Paypal or bitcoin.

Please DM me if interested.

I can hack that, a lot of experience with IRC bots. PM me the details
1137  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is wrong with bitcoin and why it may never reach widespread adoption. on: June 24, 2014, 08:25:47 AM
-First, you need money to make money.  It is hard to imagine a world where the majority of the citizens will adopt this currency.  In the first world we can mine it if we invest a few thousand in hardware and some electricity... most of the world's citizens cannot say the same.  What reason would a person in N. Korea have to drop $600 on one bitcoin that requires a computer rather than 30 ounces of silver?

Well, N.Korea is a rather strange example - they do not have 600$ laying around unless perhaps they are a government official.  People buy stocks of higher prices than 600$ in the first world, I would not be surprised.

Quote
While I can buy one today for $600 lets suppose that in 5 years the price is $10 000.  How difficult will it be for the citizen of a third world country to purchase a coin in order to "opt into" the system?

They would buy a smaller amount. Perhaps a uBTC which would then be worth more.

Quote
This brings us to security.  You know to keep BTC in cold storage, copy your .dat files, use a clean boot of Linux or some other operating system, transfer your files on USB sticks... Do your honestly believe that the average person using a tablet is going to understand even a fraction of this?  In a first world country where Windows is the standard and the majority of users could not scan for a virus if their life depended on it (well, they might download some malware to scan for a virus should they do a search...)  I know the upcoming generation is more computer literate- but we are talking widespread acceptance in all countries, economic classes and levels of intelligence.  I think after the third time somebody buys a $600 coin and has it “drained” by hacking they may give up.  Again, why would the average person purchase something with these risks?

We have got tons of kids using things like dogecoin.  I think it is without a question that we will have an internet currency. People want fast and easy - have you ever tried to buy an App on a mobile phone? The number of forms to complete is simply not a model that will sustain.

1138  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Greenwald 'imminent' NSA release (Jun 23 2014) Vote predictions! on: June 24, 2014, 08:08:06 AM
All of the above, you almost can't escape their enormous database. All of the phone messages, all of social networks, all of email, all of google searches.. it's hard to comprehend just how enormous it is.

They have created a simple search engine, to query the database called XKeyScore. Any person working there can simply type who they are looking for. It can be anyone, simply depends on who is searching. Searches are not only done by the NSA - but also by corporate employees of various companies.
1139  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin tax up to 22% in Greece! on: June 23, 2014, 11:03:44 PM
Tax? lol

so it's currency now or is it property tax or what?

how can you tax bitcoin in the first place?

ridiculous laws trying to make a profit on bitcoin.

In this case they taxed after the guy had transferred btc to national currency on the bank.
Politicians and lawyers are not sure what it is.
1140  Other / Politics & Society / Re: WH Forced To Release Memo Detailing How Obama Justifies Killing American Citizen on: June 23, 2014, 10:29:19 PM

The United States can use lethal force against a U.S. citizen overseas if that person is part of an enemy organization seeking to attack the U.S., according to a once-secret memo released Monday.

I have no information about this specific case, but does Obama have any choice or power? I think many decisions are made by the secret service.
