1181  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Karpeles back to living large in one of the most expensive apartments in Tokyo on: June 21, 2014, 12:55:48 PM
Nice apartment, but given the MtGox bankruptcy I think many people will go after him. I think its plausible that he stole all coins himself.

1182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Bitcoin] Encryption can literally save someone's life [video] on: June 21, 2014, 12:32:16 PM
Encryption does save lives, yes -there are many examples.  Surprisingly not all that many people are using encryption;
1183  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Earning Technique by Coinev.com | 999DICE TRICK 2014 on: June 21, 2014, 11:54:59 AM
Please post your screenshot if the trick really works, i believe 95% winning chance will only give you a small portion from your wager, maybe 3% or even lower

You can make a nice profit, but there is the house edge in these kind of games. For example, you can lose 1 btc, but win 0.01 btc.  If you play for a low percentage of profit on your total, say 1 to 20% and withdraw it works - a chance of 88 to 96%.  If you go for 90 or 100% profit your chance is pretty close to 0%. (I made a nice profit in a dice game, but not using the strategy mentioned above)

1184  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New Paper: Deanonymisation of clients in Bitcoin P2P network on: June 21, 2014, 11:49:02 AM
Your online wallets and exchanges know your ip tho

That really depends on if you use several layers of VPN, and on if you use offline wallets  Smiley
1185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I converted all my bitcoins to litecoins on: June 21, 2014, 11:42:52 AM
Not sure if this is a good move. The LTC price had been 40$ earlier this year, but it has been pretty much stuck on 7-10$ for the last few months.
1186  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: New Paper: Deanonymisation of clients in Bitcoin P2P network on: June 21, 2014, 11:28:43 AM
Are there any example where one known identity has managed to link a bitcoin address to a physical address - and made the whole thing publicly available ?

No

There are no examples. And even if, it would be an exception rather than the rule

How can they be so stupid to give Russia even more reasons to wipe them out?

They are risking their lives using this somewhat pointless action. I think they did not think this trough
1189  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wash Your Brain - Hollywood Mind Control on: June 20, 2014, 08:42:42 PM
Most of these Mind Control videos are bullshit. It's more that occult images sell and that's why Hollywood incoperates these images into their movies. Mind control is more used by manupilating the news.

Mind control programs are very real. Have a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MKULTRA
I don't know if Holywood is used in such programs, but I think movies in general could have some influence on the peoples mind. I have no hard data to back that up.  Smiley
1190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What script is this? on: June 20, 2014, 08:35:38 PM
What is the dice script that omcdice.com is using please anyone?

Thanks!!

Its a dice script based on PHP, JavaScript, JQuery and HTML.  I guess they bought it or made it themselves.

1191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Suggestion: dot-bit bitcoin address on: June 20, 2014, 08:07:30 PM
This sounds like a good idea to me, but only if you do not wish to be anonymous.
But I think your public key is generated from a hashed input, if I recall correctly. That may be the reason why.

1192  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if there is no bubble coming.. on: June 20, 2014, 07:57:00 PM
And we will be floating around 500-600 for more then 4 months?

It would be a very boring 4 months, but at the same time many of us would be making profits here anyway in one way or another.

My prediction: I think, many people around the world have not understand the power of bitcoin yet and are mostly clueless about it. Once the mainstream is reached, there would be a massive uprise in market price. Adoption generally does not happen at once, but is a process which goes over time.

Putin is afraid of any real opposition – just like he was afraid of Pussy Riot

*cough*   You may have missed this post:

Quote
Either you don't know much about the Pussy Riot, or you are having some real issues with yourself.  Grin

You might classify the video (given below) as an example for the Pussy Riot fighting for free speech and basic rights, but most of the people would classify it as a sign of mental illness.

1194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iraqi miliatants stole 400 million $, could have been saved with bitcoin! on: June 20, 2014, 07:12:14 PM
ak-47 to the head by some Isis fanatic...oh I'd be giving up the private keys with a quickness.

I think, if it was for bitcoin, it would have been transferred out of the region before they were even close. I mean, bitcoin has that power after all: you can send money from Iraq to Australia within a few minutes. But I'm not sure about Iraq's internet connectivity?

1195  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donetsk, Kharkov, Lugansk - way to Russia. on: June 20, 2014, 07:03:31 PM
This is a normal town when the red army is involved:

The two Chechen wars had been a harsh test and bitter lesson (especially the first war) for the new Russian army, the results we saw in Georgia in 2008 and now in Crimea... Cool

First chechen war:
5,732 russians killed or missing. 161 killed outside Chechnya. Russia has ~ 140 million people, so ~ 0.004% of the population dead.
17,391 chechen killed or missing. 50,000–100,000 chechen civillians killed. Chechenya has around 1 million people. So around 5% or more of the population dead.
Source:  wikipedia

What do you mean by a bitter lesson, if not number of dead?

Btw, that building looks pretty solid. Even with a hole in it, it seems to be holding up - can't say the same about buildings like the twin towers.
1196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wake up people! Banks are not governments. They can't make things illegal! on: June 20, 2014, 06:55:52 PM
Banks are not countries. Banks are not states.

Bolivia did not ban bitcoins. Bolivia's banks did.

Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, etc.  are not warning against using bitcoins. Their banks are.

Saying that a country bans bitcoins when their main banks ban them is like saying that a country has banned Whoppers because McDonalds in that country has banned all Whopper sales in their restaurants.

News alert, banks do not transfer bitcoins. Banks do not hold bitcoins in their accounts. Banning their use in their banks is meaningless.

i guess we live in different worlds. maybe the situation is different in bolivia, but banks DO run countries.. especially in the USA. our politicians work for the big corporations, and banks have A LOT of money to throw at them. in spite of what happened in 2008, there have not been any major players who were arrested for the shit they pulled. do you think that's a coincidence?

It depends on the country indeed. I don't know about Bolivia, but not in all countries the banks are the most powerful;

1197  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Martingale System on: June 20, 2014, 06:47:52 PM
As it is pure probability, it can work, but there is no guarantee.
However the chance is probably higher than winning the lottery  Smiley
1198  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to learn more about bitcoin and doing business with it on: June 20, 2014, 06:38:16 PM
Their is the trick you can do on Google for site: but I honestly can't remember right now and don't want to tell you the wrong thing and thus contribute to the garbage further.

Perhaps you mean: In the search bar  "question site:bitcointalk.org". It searches this forum using google

1199  Other / Politics & Society / Re: VSEM PIZDETS. Hunderts tanks in hands or Russian Ukrainians. on: June 20, 2014, 06:32:18 PM
Now that looks very legit, aren't T-72 cold war era type Russian tanks? If so it would explain why the Russians were able to get their hands on them, I would definitely think it possible to take tanks from that place and re-activate them with some skilled engineers, just a matter of knowing how to fabricate the bits and put it all together safely.

Old tank model indeed, designed around 1967–1973. But it may well have been upgraded. It was a Soviet tank and in use in many countries. Map here https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ee/T-72_users.PNG
1200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoin faucets really worth the time? on: June 20, 2014, 04:48:28 PM
I used faucets for 2 days and figured out pretty damn quick it was going no where fast.
nothing is free Sad

Very true, you always sell your life whatever you are doing. Faucets are a very very slow way to earn bitcoin, but in several years (if bitcoin market price would have risen a lot), it may be better to have done faucets than not having any bitcoin at all. To illustrate, I've heard faucets used to give out 1 btc in the past. Perhaps in several years (5-10?) 0.0001BTC might actually be worth 400$
