Thailand's military has announced it is taking control of the government and has suspended the constitution. In a TV statement, army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha vowed to restore order and enact political reforms. The cabinet has been told to report to the military, TV broadcasting is suspended and political gatherings are banned. A nationwide curfew will operate from 22:00 to 05:00 local time. The coup follows months of political turmoil in Thailand. On Tuesday the army imposed martial law. Talks were then held between the main political factions, but the army announced the coup on Thursday. This is not a positive thing. What do you think will happen next?

<< Apple has pulled the No. 1 game in the U.S., called "Weed Firm", from the App Store. The game, which had been described as something of a "Grand Theft Auto" for the marijuana-minded, allowed players to grow and sell weed, interact with gangsters, and earn lots of dough for their drug-dealing activities. >> Apple has always been fond of censorship. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship_by_Apple Fanboys will say it is their platform and they can do what they want with it, but the fact is the companies and customers are not free with these phones.

Why would theh US stop the war on terror? this is not profitable.

Some things never change. These nazis seem to really think they are doing the right thing. The US, EU and Israel needs to think twice before supporting these goons and supplying them with arms and ammunition. The regular Ukrainian soldiers are refusing to fight the civilians, while it is the Right Sector militants who are usually put on the front line. The US is doing business. The EU politicians only have self interest. I dont know about Israel

I don't know how many Russians eat American food, but I'm sure there are far less Americans eating Russian food. Come to think of it, I guess the only Russian product available in the U.S. is Vodka (but Swedish vodka is better). Russian food hardly exists outside Russia.
Russia is very diverse in terms of cuisine and also in terms of income. People from say Moscow will likely eat different things than people who live on a farm somewhere, and also buy different things products. In general, to eat at say McDonalds for breakfast is very rare in Russia. So the majority of Russians will not be bothered by it; As for Russian products in the US, i know of the Kaspersky anti-virus software. Im sure there are some others but I dont know by head.

at this point, i am confused and have no idea who the good or bad guy is. maybe there is no good guy, just the guy looking out for his own interests. how can we point the finger at china when we've been monitoring people from all other countries? that'll only add fuel to the fire. china would respond "well, you guys do it too." and it would be a legitimate rebuttal.
yes, this is indeed the case. In fact, the US helped China (and others) with mass surveillance systems. Good/bad guy is only in the movies, in real life there is financial interest and interest of resources.

Quote from: Hiraga on May 21, 2014, 01:34:21 PM You could live on an island without electronics and not be spied on. I think any smartphone has a backdoor so NSA can listen in if it's lying on the table. It's rediculous. But the same is valid for any computer with a microphone/webcam. US has satellite imagery system and can probably see what you do everyday from the sky if you are important enough. Yes it looks like google earth but in real time, the only that can save you is a cloudy day or in the night!, hehe http://www.n2yo.com/It is google earth with extra information. Do they save all the image?
We save everything we can

"...one of my wives"...
I was wondering about the same thing..
Maybe the full quote will clear things up:
"I do not agree with the ruling in this case. If anyone is going to kill one of my wives it should be me. As the court knows, by the law given to us by Muhamad (may the grace of Allah be forever upon him), all my wives, slaves and livestock, whether cattle, sheep or goats, are my property. As the owner of these various properties it is my right to dispose of them as I see fit. Upon discovering that one of my wives or slaves is a Christian it is my right, as the property owner, to carry out the execution per the laws of Mohamad (may Allah bless him)"
Or something like that. Aha, this put things into context.

Take a look at the "Current Trend Price" on http://cryptocoinstats.com/priceforecaster.phpThat's the price we should be at today if the price followed a perfect regression line. In theory anytime we are below the line BTC is undervalued and above the line is a bubble. That is, if everything else remains constant. These are very interesting charts. $6,543 in one year.. one can only hope Bitcoin and litecoin will still be around, Im sure about that. Dogecoin forecast seems about right, I dont think itll be used for much more than tipping.

Polycoin? Huh
I thought it was all about litecoin.. Tongue
Polycoin always bashes bitcoin on the forums, dunno why; Litecoin is the second most used coin, has a market cap of about 300 million usd. see coinmarketcap.com

It essentially believes bitcoin is a good thing but would benefit from more regulation
as in, they want to get the money bitcoin is very regulated. You get confirmations by multiple nodes, can see transactions publicly etc;

When I think about the long-term success or failure of Bitcoin, it seems to me that other cryptocurrencies are hurting that possible success.
Opinions vary inside the form. Currently, the market share of all alt coins (yes, including piggycoin and all other weird coins) together is about 10% of the bitcoin market share. Litecoin is the only other currency with a market cap of more than 100 million. Now the mainstream is starting to accept Bitcoin. The branding is showing up everywhere. There are bitcoin ATMs, etc. And then another coin, a better coin, maybe, in quality, but not a popular coin with the mainstream, starts to rise in value and overcome bitcoin. Then what? Most people are just getting used to the idea of Bitcoin, then they are going to have the rug pulled from under them, when Bitcoin is beat out by another coin...
Society does not move so fast. Many people do not own bitcoin as of yet, we are early adaptors. The average joe does not have bitcoin as of yet. Anyway, this is just speculation, nobody knows the future. But at the moment, bitcoin has the biggest market share and the most 'commercial' in news etc; Now are the going to have redesign all their ATM machines for this new coin? Take down all the Bitcoin symbols and put up the branding for the new coin? How is that going to work exactly?
Simple, they will stick with bitcoin

What would be the most likely way to destroy bitcoin? This is a somewhat similar question as 'what is the most likely way to destroy the internet'. Id say a meteorite

American brands such as the Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonalds are quite popular in Russia. So I really doubt how much successful this boycott will be in the major cities of Russia.
It opens new business opportunities for Russian companies: Stalingrad Fried Chicken
