1301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Losers on: June 11, 2014, 12:53:56 PM
Anyone else feel like one of the bitcoin losers? We hear a lot about all the winners, now including some 15 year old child, but very little on the currency's losers. I got swept up in the mania last November and dared to invest my life saving into purchasing 1 bitcoin, just as it was near peak. That turned out to be a terrible purchase for me as the value dropped since, so bitcoin has only ever lost me money. Anyone else in my boots? I'd still like more bitcoins but going on my past 6 months my confidence and trust in this new currency has been shattered.   Cry

No, I'm pretty much winning BTC  The system is the biggest innovation of the decade, I think the price will go up 10x in the next 2 years.

1302  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is This possible.. Ads to each btc address on: June 11, 2014, 12:51:24 PM
The majority of the people do not read messages I think, myself included.
By default, most bitcoin wallets do not show any messages.
If you want to advertise, btc advertising networks will reach more eyeballs  Smiley
1303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin will skyrocket? on: June 11, 2014, 09:42:45 AM
I think a poll should be added to the topic, it would be more clear.
1304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 15-Year-Old Makes $100,000 on Bitcoin on: June 11, 2014, 09:33:35 AM
Could have been $1mn if he had held on. Perhaps should have.
Arguably....

Yes, if price would rise to 10.000 / BTC in a few years, it may be a mistake. It may be wise to at least keep a part of the money in bitcoin.
1305  Economy / Economics / Re: Economist: U.S. Banks Preparing to Charge Customers For Deposits on: June 11, 2014, 09:31:13 AM
Banks are a business, we all have to know it even though they tend to be demonized.
What really bothers me is that nowadays you need to use their services.
No one should be obliged to have a bank account to receive their salary. I'm not sure what a proper alternative would be, but they're basically forcing everyone to put your money in a third party company. Not cool.
That is what bothers me also. I don't care if they are trying to make a buck, but I should not be coerced into participating in such a scheme.

Agreed, this is a mafia type of business. We live in a time where we do not need banks anymore, at all. The government is yet to realize this, but they get profits from banks.. so who are they to change the law? The degree of corruption in the government is reaching all time high

1306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoins are not user friendly what-so-ever on: June 11, 2014, 08:55:26 AM
I took the plunge and baught my first bitcoin last week. It was a long process but overall not a bad experience at Coinbase to buy it.
During the wait I looked to arm myself with knowledge about how to safely hang on to my coin, so I immediately withdrew it from Coinbase and sent it on over to Blockchain.info wallet; big mistake.
I spent some of my coin and have about .03 left, which equates to about $30 as of writing this. 48 hours ago I used blockchain.info's wallet to send it back to my Coinbase to cash it out, and it just sat there at unconfirmed. After hours of researching it, I concluded the wallet didn't add a transaction fee, so I had to wait 2 days for the transaction to be rejected(?) and reappear in my blockchain wallet.
This morning my coin was back in my blockchain wallet (yay!!!), so I attempt to send it to my Coinbase wallet again and this time I made sure I included a generous fee (as advised by the support at blockchain.info). 12 hours later I get the first confirmation, and to my dismay it now shows a double-spend error. I have no clue what to do at this point, and I am unsure 3+ more days of frustration are worth the effort to retrieve my $30. I have no idea what is going on, all I know is my $30 is unattainabe, and there is very little information on how to retrieve it.
I feel frustrated, ripped off, and overall had a absolute terrible experience.

You should use a desktop wallet on a secure computer, not online websites; This is because 'private keys' are used to send money, and the only way to have private keys is to use a desktop wallet. If you do not have the private key, you do not control the money; That said, you may want to contact the coinbase / blockchain guys about your problem.

What was the point in shoving a whole chicken up her nasty HUGE hole?  Feminists are insane.

There is no point, other than to shock people.

1309  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best linux distro for cold storage? on: June 10, 2014, 09:46:08 PM
Debain and Slackware are the stable ones and being maintained by a few people, while 'big' distros like Ubuntu are maintained by people, whom real identities you'll probably never know.
You can download them right from the official sites above.
Debian has an packet manager which makes it easier to keep your distro updated and safe from harm.
Slackware developers is a team of skilled hackers who choose very solid software versions to put in a distro releases, slackware can be safe until the next release without updating.
It's from my personal experience.

Right, you want to go with Debian or Slackware. Slackware is one of the oldest Linux distributions, the package management system is a bit tricky.

I have been in to Bitcoin and Altcoins for about 2 years now, and I know a bubble when I see one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMHkLyQrooo

I don't think the oil bubble will burst just yet, instead we would see more wars to try to take the resources.

What happens when everyone realizes that there is just oil everywhere and no one needs more?

Right, it would burst.

1314  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are crowd funded projects going to become more prevalent? on: June 10, 2014, 02:07:24 PM
As in my title. What do you think starting a company will be like in 30 years?

Will getting funding have nothing to do with convincing a bank, and more to do with convincing your peers?

Here is an example,

A chain of hair salons crowd funding global expansion.

http://www.klippt.com.au/ipo.html

I think it is going to get more popular, as the inflation of continues.
If banks will not loan anything to the people, this will be an important step for many start-ups.

1316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many country are using Bitcoin and how many country banned Bitcoin ? on: June 10, 2014, 01:51:42 PM
I heared BTC is banned in China, Vietnam and Phillipines. Don't know about any others?

China is a strange situation, it is mostly rumors about ban. So regulation is quite uncertain.
Even the business owners like the owner of BTC China does not know exactly.
1317  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why did we develop into large country size tribes? on: June 10, 2014, 01:50:07 PM
Why did we develop into large country size tribes when as individuals we usually like to socialize in small tribes <100 people.

Do we remain in these large tribes mostly for the benefit of the elites?

When and why did this all happen?

In Asia, the tribes were under attack once in a while.

In Europe, About 2000-4000 years ago, the roman empire expanded trough military force. In order to protect themselves, people started living more together, building city walls etc. Before that, people pretty much lived anywhere they wanted.

ok so thats a different perspective to benjamindees,  do we stay together now as countries for protection as #1 you think?

This might seem a strange thread btw.  I just always find it odd i live in a street of people who are strangers.

I am not sure why people stay together now, but I doubt it is for protection nowadays.

The bigger the group is in which you live, the fewer people you know. If you live in a small village of say 300 people, everybody knows who you are, what you do etc;
If you live in LA, chances are you do not know 99.9% of the people.
1318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many country are using Bitcoin and how many country banned Bitcoin ? on: June 10, 2014, 01:46:22 PM
Austria is on the map, but not on the list.
Maybe the creator doesn't know, that Austria is not part of Germany anymore ..

The list is incomplete. France, Brasil Estonia, Latvia, the Netherlands are also missing.

They banned bitcoin ?

No, they are legal in these countries.

It does not matter how small the gap is! It is all due the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect , one wright/wrong decision in life can alter the whole outcome of history!

A large proportion of the DNA may be junk DNA. Perhaps the gap is smaller.
