1082  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The NSA Is Targeting Users of Privacy Services, Leaked Code Shows on: July 04, 2014, 09:45:29 AM

The source code, for the NSA system known as XKeyscore, is used in the collection and analysis of internet traffic, and reveals that simply searching the web for privacy tools online is enough to get the NSA to label you an “extremist” and target your IP address for inclusion in its database.

The NSA attempts to collect everyone's data for XKeyscore. XKeyscore can be used as a search engine. But they do have some problems with "connecting the dots", as in, linking the data from various sites/applications together.

Libertarians and Anarchist are probably quite high there indeed...

The forum also has many tech interested people, businessman and few others. Nevertheless, agents are watching the forum.. maybe they are even participating in signature advertising during work hours  Grin

Are you:
1) A person with disabilities;
2) A person with children with disabilities;
3) A person with a spouse/domestic partner with disabilities;
4) A member of the LGBT community.
5) An ally of the LGBT community, but not personally identifying as LGBT.

What's the point of asking these questions to employees?
Why would the bank directors want to know this?
1085  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Facebook reveals news feed experiment to control emotions on: July 03, 2014, 06:29:51 PM
You could invite everyone to Daispora https://www.diasp.org/ or a similar network Smiley I even have a basic social network software I made on my computer, that I could put online. - but I don't think anyone is interested. The main problem users have (I never used it) is that their friends are on it.

You're right, I could, but I doubt they'd bother joining.  That is the Catch 22 that new social networks and people like me who want to move to another social network.  Any other social network doesn't have the critical mass of people that Facebook has, and people aren't terribly inclined to join until it does have that critical mass.  This is why I didn't join FB until getting peer pressured into joining.  I knew about it long before 2008 when I setup my account, but I knew I'd get addicted to it, so I didn't join until that point.  But this whole news feed experiment they did annoys me enough that I'm inclined to quit anyway despite the events that I'd miss.  I mean, we do still have phones and email, there are old fashioned ways of communicating with people, they just take a tiny bit more effort.

This is the problem exactly. It is not a problem of technology, and never has been. There's nothing special about FB, just a simple web system that has a lot of government/media promotion. VKontakte is very big, but I don't know what they do with all the data.To be honest, I don't trust these guys a lot either..

Fact #1: Yanukovych Was Legitimately Elected

There have not been any fair elections in the Ukraine- and they have never been about Ukraine. It's mainly about getting Ukraine's resources into Russia or EU/US, Ukraine's citizens are *** in either way.

The US has spent $5 billion since the 1990s on “democratization” programs in Ukraine. (What would the US reaction be if Russia spent $5 billion promoting communism in Mexico?)

The Ukranians have to pay around 16.5 billion IMF loan, if I'm not mistaken.  This is a profit of more than 50%.. it's business

EU's right to be forgotten: Guardian articles have been hidden by Google

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jul/02/eu-right-to-be-forgotten-guardian-google

<< Publishers must fight back against this indirect challenge to press freedom, which allows articles to be "disappeared". Editorial decisions belong with them, not Google. >>

The EU and US gov do not care about press freedom. MI6 recently destroyed articles right at one of the Guardians offices.
Google cares about maximizing profit only, its a business.  Smiley

1089  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Germany sacks Verizon over NSA spying on: July 03, 2014, 09:02:31 AM
Now Angela Merkel will learn what PRISM is.

I tend to think she already knew of the existence of PRISM its all just pretending just like she pretended how furious she was when she learned that the NSA is tapping her phone.

And we all know that her government is in bed with the usa gov

http://rt.com/news/us-drones-germany-ramstein-625/
Germany is very big about being against surveillance. Hitler "watched" germany's citizens very closely prior to him taking away the rights of Jews and was able to do so because he was already watching everyone.
I would agree about german experience in this area. Stasi, for example, was one of the best intelligence services in the world. In fact, sometimes it was even more competent than KGB.

You are right, madame Merkel is pretending to not know. No idea why you Germans still vote for her Cheesy  Truth is, Germany is sending personal information of German citizens over to the States 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In turn, the German secret service gets access to the PRISM user interface.  Don't worry about it, you have nothing to hide, they only kill you based on this data  Smiley

1091  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wired: How to Anonymize Everything You Do Online on: July 02, 2014, 07:32:19 PM
More anonymizing means more web crimes and less security for normal users. Imagine you would be ghost on the street, you will never run out of bad ideas, what you could do to the people.

Less anonymity leads to more crimes and increased power for criminals.
Consider these cases:

Would you, as girl, tell your abuser where you live?
Would you tell a thief how much possessions are in your wallet?
Would you tell a paedophile when your kid is alone?
Would you tell a thief when you go on holiday?
Would you tell the government where whistle-blowers live?
Would you tell a killer your location?

Anonymity can be used for both the good and bad.. without anonymity you sacrifice a lot and don't gain anything. (unless NSA pays you  Cheesy)
4chan is a good example. It's used for jokes, talking and also some bad things occurred there.
1092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: July 02, 2014, 07:22:31 PM
And yet there are something like 13 million millionaires in the world..being a millionaire is now commonplace and doesn't make you important.

Owning a single bitcoin one day will mean you are a magnitude more wealthy than today's "millionaires".

Bitcoin may not suceed, think it will but it may not, it is good not to be too unrealistic

655$ on Bitstamt at the moment so maybe we can get excited? Grin

It will be back at $1k by year end.

I think this is very likely. Currently its at 654$ it seems to be rising fast right now.
Things are looking pretty well, it could be at $700 soon.  I think what we'll see now is a quick uptrend followed by a short stable trend
1093  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto coins on: July 02, 2014, 07:14:05 PM
I dont get it, we know one address with 50 Bitcoins, so where are other 999950 Bitcoins? Is his coins magically scattered through milion of diffirent addresses?

Satoshi's motivations were not to get rich of bitcoin (but perhaps he and others will get very rich in the future. ).  Another bitcoin developer, Garzik, has recently revealed a balance of around 300 bitcoin (if I'm not mistaken). Motivations differ per people.

1095  Economy / Services / Re: [GET PAID] $1 per free registration at a forum and % of the site profit! on: July 02, 2014, 06:23:09 PM
We are looking for people that can refer people to a new cryptocurrency business forum. You get paid $1 per real registration and 10 shares of the site. Shares bring you proportional % of the site profit indefinitely, so it's a nice bonus that can pay you beautifuly  down the road.
However, we are looking for people that are passionate about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and can refer people from the communities they are active in an organic way. Those shares practically make you partner, since we take community decisions based on them as well, so we want people that actually care about the project.
You will be paid the $1 per registration part in bitcoins at the current rate at the end of each week. Dividends from your shares you get at the end of each month as long as there is profit of course.

If that sounds like something you might be into, please drop a line at preacher.with.a.shotgun|@|gmx.com with an answer to the question "What traffic source you would tap first?"

so for everyone I bring in I get a dollar?

is it for literally everyone and how do you check they're bitcoin enthusiasts?

If I register myself, do I get $1/tiny share of profit in BTC? I'm a bitcoin enthusiast

I have to confess I'm kind of addicted to Facebook.  But seeing this is kind of the last straw.  I'm planning on quitting FB after getting contact information for all the people I want to stay in touch with.  I guess the only frustrating thing about quitting is that it's so ingrained amongst my friends for inviting people to events and such that I'm positive I'll miss out on social engagements if I quit.  So I'm torn, the company is highly unethical, but I am getting a benefit out of it.  I wonder if I could persuade the 20 or 30 people on FB whose posts I really care about seeing to decamp to Diaspora, probably not though, FB has the network effect going for it, just like bitcoin does.  That's the only social network that's actually good in my opinion.

You could invite everyone to Daispora https://www.diasp.org/ or a similar network Smiley I even have a basic social network software I made on my computer, that I could put online. - but I don't think anyone is interested. The main problem users have (I never used it) is that their friends are on it.

The third link discusses the idea that Jesus himself was a mushroom.  Though I tend to believe that Jesus was a person who indulged in the mushrooms, but in the context of god (all), they are both Jesus.

I think it's very likely that Jesus used mushrooms. The stories make a lot more sense that way.
The book writes about alcohol (wine), so why would other drugs be an exception?

Just my $.02  Smiley

Once again, for Facebook you're not the customer, the advertiser is the customer, and you are the product being sold; and now, you're also the lab animal

The customer are advertisers, the secret service (NSA, CIA), FBI and your future employers. Apparently, psychologists are also interested in the data now.
Your data (and page views) is the product. Its a model that pays well, but its very unethical and straight in contrast with freedom, if anything, it has made us Americans less free.

1099  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA is getting adversely affected by Immigrants on: July 02, 2014, 05:36:10 PM
Nationalism idea should be abandoned in favor of open border.

All welfare program to be cut.

Let everyone stand on their own two feet.

So what do we do with the unemployed?  Except put them in the army?   Huh

The unemployed needs to work for whatever work they can find. They can't expect government to feed them for the rest of their life.

There have been various things that had been done in the US in the past. One thing was the army;
During the time of JFK the super rich had to pay a part of their possessions to the state- from which all kinds of jobs were created.
A lot of labour in the US has been outsourced to Asia, which was usually jobs that the unemployed would do

Spend 20 years or so as a Christian and 20 years or so as a atheist and get back to me.

Sana, just because your parents took you to church when you were young doesn't mean you automatically know anything about Christianity.  Your comments concerning Christianity only indicate that were exposed to a dysfunctional person that claimed to be Christian. That person could be yourself or someone else. Only you would know, or would you?
Then, it seems as if you experienced a difficulty in life, blamed it on this "God" of your making and then decided you hated "God" or believe there is no higher power in this universe because you didn't like what your life was. Gotta blame somebody right?

There's only the bible, after 20 years you should know globally what's inside - even if you did not read it - or you have been sleeping in church for the last 20 years. The existence of a higher power is very discussable, as we will see in this thread  Smiley
