Any similar experiences?? Has the bitcoin taxation started already??

Greece is full of corrupt officials, it should come as no surprise. They'll try to take the money of Greek citizens in any way possible.
A similar thing occurred in Cyprus.

So it's kind of like a crowdfunding site with bitcoin?
1143  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian CPU on: June 23, 2014, 08:30:54 PM

This is awesome news to me for a variety of reasons.  My interest is mostly associated with security, but some of them simply technical in terms of architecture.

  http://www.techspot.com/news/57199-russia-plans-to-ditch-us-processors-inside-government-pcs-in-favor-of-local-chips.html

I'll certainly try to be one of the first customers and an active tester of secure OS's that might run under the architecture.  Russia is not saying specifically that they don't trust American made chips to be free of back-doors.  Nor have I heard any official statements that the effort is to be sufficiently open-source.  It could be that Russia simply wants their own back-doors.  Even in this case, as an American a Russian exploit is less threatening to me than an NSA one.

I hope that the Russians follow up with (supposedly) secure chipsets and other necessary developments.  Ideally we'll see a complete suite of hardware components that can be audited.  As a consumer I would pay at least double for a device which I could realistically and comprehensively verified to be secure, and probably more.

It is interesting to me that the Chinese have not made more of an issue of this.  A logical hypothesis is that they are at least as interested in and proficient at implementing backdoors as the Americans are.

Not too surprising, Russia wants to expand into other markets. They do not want to depend on other countries for CPU's;
What kind of backdoors are in American CPU's ?
1144  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Polish FM: 'Gave the Americans a blow job for nothing' on: June 23, 2014, 08:19:29 PM
I'd say that the title says it all. For years USA had been telling Poland that they are allies but nothing specific came out of it. For example Polish people still need visas to be able to travel to USA, although every president of USA claims that Poland is very important partner for americans.

Not sure what's in it for the Polish citizens, but there may have been some secret deals:

Quote
Poland has been in the spotlight since 2005, accused of hosting a secret prison operated by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) where terrorism suspects were held and tortured between 2002 and 2005. This report documents the search for accountability for Poland’s complicity in the CIA’s rendition and secret detention programmes. It focuses on Poland’s duty to investigate and bring to justice any Polish and foreign agents and officials responsible for crimes under international law such as torture and enforced disappearance. It is time to unlock the truth in Poland.

The thing about calling Bullshit is usually the person is just REALLY lazy and gets scared about the idea they have zero control over their lives doesn't want to look it up calls BS and hopes others agree so they can go back to feeling in control.

The matrix was sooo good at showing what is really going on around you.  If you are 100% certian everything around you is real you have a lot to learn.  If you think most of the decisions you've made have been a controlled decision.. you have a lot to learn.

The matrix had a hidden theory behind all the action. The movie 'they live' also shows this to some degree. Many decisions humans make are unconscious, simply because we do not have the time to think about every single action.

1146  Other / Politics & Society / Re: F**k censorship on: June 23, 2014, 07:05:41 PM
Well censorship helps keep the order and the public(which is largely uneducated) from seeing things they shouldn't.
Also to keep forum discussions civil Wink

In some places they used to censor the bodies of playboy magazines, not sure if they still do that. Even a little kid knows woman has boobs, so there's not really a point  Roll Eyes
I think the citizens should decide themselves what they see, censorship is not right.
1147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has the coming of Bitcoin started a 'Golden Age' of black hat hacking? on: June 23, 2014, 11:09:57 AM
With all the hacks over the years I'm wondering how the black hat community thinks about this era with regards to the amount of money that's available for the taking without consequence.

I would imagine it's been a boon to the scene since I can't really imagine a better way for hackers to gain immediate results from their skills. Before I suspect a lot of those black hats dealt mostly in selling information and access to resources such as botnets, but now they can just directly steal value from their targets.

Bitcoin is the perfect incentive for black hats and hopefully and one point we might see some resistance from white hats attempting to protect the community by helping to secure bitcoin businesses before they're hacked. But until that happens we'll probably continue to see sites fall prey to hackers.

I think in a way, it's become easier for them to get money - as it became easier for anyone to get money. I'm not sure if you would call it 'Golden Age', as there have been pretty big digital fiat robberies recently. Resources as information, botnets etc are still being sold (for btc or other things).
1148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The boring flat days of bitcoin! How do you feel? on: June 23, 2014, 11:05:16 AM
I came to this space while bitcoin was literally at its highest, but sort of sucked into all the nice things into crypto world after that..

Now its been 7 months and now am witnessing the boring flat days of bitcoin prices with no steep increase..

But when i look at the historical charts from 2010, i wonder how all those early adopters went through all these horizontal flat days which lasted sometimes like for  8 months or an year..

anyway, patience is the key to success.

How do you feel with the price stagnating for a long time?

From january 2014 to june 2014 the price has been between 400$ and 950$. However, the price has been between 0$ and 200$ until november 2013. The time that the market price was rising like crazy had been only a few months. I think we'll see more of this sudden rise in market price, but if we don't wait we wont see it  Smiley.
1149  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Television - Mass Hypnotic Indoctrination on: June 23, 2014, 10:53:22 AM
Wow, Never know this before. I would never watch television again. Does flat led computer monitor have the same hypnotic power as television do?

No, not as far as I know. You'll often see people in front of TV, and cannot get up or switch the channel - even if they are watching complete rubbish. A computer in addition, allows you to interact and control, so you do not get in the same state.
1150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you wish satoshi to be anonymous forever? vote on: June 23, 2014, 08:55:17 AM
It is essential he stays anonymous, for his own security.
Anyway, Satoshi has no more control over bitcoin than Garzik at this point, you can look at the source code.
1151  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bergdahl prisoner swap? on: June 22, 2014, 10:52:11 PM
So what do you guys think about the exchange of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for 5 high-level Taliban prisoners by the US government?

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/05/31/us/ber...le_sidebar

In an embarrassing incident for the US gov, U.S sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was later found to be a deserter who was caught while running away.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world.../10380147/

I thought US also said they will not negotiate with terrorists? Is this move right or wrong?

I am surprised the US special forces were not able to get him out, and instead did a prisoner swap. In a way, I think this has hurt the image of the US.
Perhaps there is more to this story than we are being told.

1152  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Thoughts on religion for a Sunday morning on: June 22, 2014, 10:47:33 PM
Couldn't agree more...

The only way to defeat superstition is a well educated population, when the only use for religion is ritual, it's pretty harmless.

The problem with that is that some people don't WANT to be educated. Because it's painful, especially when they find out that everything they thought they knew is wrong.

How can you force people to replace their belief with another belief? By eliminating them?

By removing information about their belief - or - what you mentioned. Both were implemented in the soviet union. But it seems even that does not stop people from believing.
1153  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are political parties necessary? on: June 22, 2014, 09:28:25 PM
It seems many of our early politicians realized that political parties could and probably would be sources of strife and conflict and the nation would be better off without them. I doubt they would have thought that we would reach a time where compromise was a dirty word and members of different political parties could actually hate each other.

The two party system is so entrenched in America its hard to imagine the nation without them. Many of us would like to see a third party to give us more choice but I wonder if anyone thinks we would be better off without any political parties at all? In fact....how would the government work without organized political parties? Are these parties necessary for democratic nations to remain free and governed by the people? Without the ordered structure of parties would politics be an exercise similar to "herding cats"? Are political parties doing more harm than good? What do you think?

http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/article/political-parties
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_parties_in_the_United_States

Different countries have and had different systems, even though they name themselves a democracy. For example, the number of political parties range from 2 to 40 or so. For example, the folks in the UK have much more choice than 2, there are like 17 parties. In order to be a democracy, a political party is not necessary. In a democracy, citizens can participate either directly or indirectly through elected representatives. An alternative would be a system where the citizens vote directly for laws/regulation as opposed to parties. Given the current state of technology, such a system could actually be implemented. I'm not saying it is better or worse, just that it would be possible. As for freedom, as much as power gets expanded freedom is in a decline.
1154  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Social media mass surveillance is permitted by law, says top UK official on: June 22, 2014, 09:19:17 PM
People should not post information on the internet/social networking site if they do not wish other to see.

Trusting social networking site with your private information is borderline idiocy.

It isn't so much as trusting social networking sites with public information but rather your communications with others on the site are private information.

It should be, but it isn't. Even when you do not use social networks, they try to make you part of the mass surveillance programs in many ways. Phone recording, phone tracking, text message collection, backdoors on operating system level,  state trojans, spyware in communication software etc..

1155  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Thoughts on religion for a Sunday morning on: June 22, 2014, 04:59:09 PM
People take their religion very seriously but seldom are capable of following the rules and regulations of the belief.

It's not that people take religion very seriously, it's that religion is reality in their minds. Things can be very real in the minds of people, but be completely absent in the universe itself or in the minds of others. As to what it means to believe, it is exactly that - but I find often people put in their own interpretations which are not communicated trough religious texts.

1156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Survey Says Most Americans Want to Ban Bitcoin: Highlighting Need for Education on: June 22, 2014, 04:16:14 PM
Asking the general public what they think about bitcoin at this stage is silly. Most of them will either not understand it at all or heard mostly bad things about it.

I agree on this, bitcoin is still in the early adaptor phase. It's like asking people what they think about the world wide web in the early 90's.

Enough to purchase a small house at least.

Depends on the market price, if bitcoin would be worth $10.000 in the future he'd have 3.480.000

As long as the house has an edge there is no "system" to beat them - just algorithms to control your losses  Cheesy

True for the dice system, at least in my experience.
You could get up to 80% profit using a good algorithm and a little luck, but more than 100% will quickly fail
1159  Other / Off-topic / Re: Video Shows China Hacker Attack On Facebook on: June 22, 2014, 11:25:40 AM
I don't care much about Facebook, as Zucker is now supporting Devcoin instead of Bitcoin. But it is really bad that the Chinese government is attacking these sites just for economical / financial causes. Is anyone attacking their sites (Baidu, Weibo.etc) ?

I'm not sure about Baidu and Webio, but Huwei (Chinese telecom) and Chinese university servers have been hacked by the US. It was leaked recently.

Video Shows China Hacker Attack On Facebook

...or "China doesnt like Marc Zuckerberg"  Tongue

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hAW0NQMMsc

Nice animation, doesn't show any hacking tho. US and Chinese gov are constantly trying to hack each other. Despite this, the US set up a lot of the Chinese firewall, and so I'm sure they simply have backdoors.
