Waiting for all the people that 'got back' and 'made a profit' to come back at 585$. Following the good old rule 'sell low, buy high'. Wink

This rule 'sell low, buy high' is how most people trade. If btc would rise to $10.000 the poster would really be scratching his head..
1442  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I know my BTC was received by the other person? on: May 26, 2014, 08:32:23 AM
If I'm trading BTC for a good/service, and the other person claims to have not received my BTC, what recourse do I have? Is there any way I can know whether it was received or not?

visit blockchain.info and type their address. All transactions are public with bitcoin, so you can see how much money everybody owns and where it is transferred to

1444  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pope Francis: “We are not alone in the Universe.” on: May 26, 2014, 08:22:28 AM
Then we have the question again if every planet has "their" Jesus, the one and only Son of God.

This is a serious discussion and I think it was Teilhard de Chardin who would say yes. He tried to combine theology and rational science and thus worked out that a "Son of God" manifestation would be a necessary evolutionary step in the development of every intelligent species.

If there is intelligent life they would view us as nothing but primitive monkeys, let alone take our advice/opinions  Cheesy

we kinda even talked about a menage a trois ... she asked me if I'm married and I said yes but I still have space for one more person in my life!
And she said I always wanted to do it in 3!

Haha wtf? You're married? What country do you live in?

oh and by the way she has a 16 year old boy .... should I try to hook him up with the 18 year old?

Why? This is a bit weird. Are you going to try have a threesome with them if it doesn't work out with his mum?  Grin.

This story is starting to sound as real as Mark Karpeles being good at programming.

Only just now? Cheesy It's sounded like a fantasy to me from the start. I'm sure they'll be a new girl tomorrow. Good luck making your fantasies into reality though, op.

hahaha this story gets better and better  Cheesy

1447  Bitcoin / Press / [2014-05-26] BitPay CEO Says Businesses That Accept Bitcoin Should Have a Basic on: May 26, 2014, 07:58:59 AM

“We believe that businesses who accept bitcoin need to have a basic understanding of the technology. This is why we hold educational meetings to help individuals and businesses understand the software and how they can use it,” Gallippi said in response to a question that asked what advice he’d give business owners soon looking to accept the digital currency.

If it's true that hackers made off with $112,000,000...that is insane...one of the biggest robberies in history?

Its a very big hack. But it does not seem the biggest robbery: "Qusay and Abid al-Hamid Mahmood, 2003, $1 billion stolen".. of course compared how much the banksters inside the banking system have stolen, its nothing;

1453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is cryptocurrency millionaire dream a thing of the past? on: May 26, 2014, 07:20:23 AM
There are many millionaires made out of bitcoin in the past 5 years...But now its entering mainstream adoption..

is the dream of becoming a cryptocurrency millionaire much hard to become real now?

Even if there are new blockchain technologies like (ethereum, counterparty, Ripple etc.) will they have the same trajectory as bitcoin had, because things are very different now.

in short will the opportunity in 2009 still available or come again in 2014 and beyond ?

The dream is well alive on the forum, to be a millonaire is pretty easy fomula:  amount x marketprice.
If the marketprice is $1000 per coin, you would need 1000 btc
If the marketprice is $10.000 per coin, you would need 100 btc
If market price is $100.000 per coin, you would need 10 btc
If market price is $1.000.000 per coin, you would need only 1 coin  Smiley

If alt coins are going to rise, say LTC is going to $100 per coin, you would need 10000 coins.
1454  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How Anonymous are online exchanges? on: May 26, 2014, 07:13:25 AM
you can use as many VPNs as you want, unless you want to use something like localbitcoin, which is unreliable, then you need to identify yourself.  The sentries are standing at the point when you move between BTC and 'fiat'.

Exactly, moving BTC to fiat is the tricky part, you would need either a bank intermediary or meetup with a person.  (or buy goods & sell goods for fiat)
1455  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: May 26, 2014, 07:09:08 AM
As I have about $20 invested in any cryptocurrency ever, I'm not really one to care, but I feel the general trend for any new thing is that the value shoots up extremely high at first, then drops disappointingly low, and then repeats that cycle (but less intense) until it becomes mostly stable. And I feel like it'll hover around $750 (halfway between current "low" $500 and "high" of $1000) once it's stable, but you know? I'm not an economist, and even they are confused about the future of this.

As for me, I'm in for the long haul. It introduced me to cryptography and as a thank-you to the community I'll mine and stake and follow bitcoin/litecoin/altcoins as long as it's reasonably stable.

I don't think crypto will be stable around one value before mass adaption.

One could
If you had funds sent to the deposit address on your account on an exchange, how likely is it the account could be discovered to be yours if someone was watching the transaction closely? If you buy darkcoin for instance, then sell quickly is it still possible to trace to your account on the exchange?

most of the exchanges have your personal info and certainly they share that info with various authorities.  You can then use this data, perhaps correlate it with other databases to determine the ownership of Bitcoin accounts.  I'm sure it's very easy to correlate a Bitcoin address to a gmail account or facebook account and these days that means they might as well have your passport.

Darkcoin does not have much to their claims about a privacy implementation.

say the exchange was signed up for with a safe-mail account that was never used again and the exchange was only accessed through orbot on a cell phone in a false name. Cashed out at an ATM. Any better or does it make any difference?

it's illegal to run an exchange like that in most of the Western world.  The basic requirement for being Money Transmitter is agreeing to the legal responsibility of identifying your customers.

-bm

To hide your identity you could use several VPNs. That way, you could transfer darkcoin to btc. Then you have to transfer the btc to many different addresses over time. Perhaps some of the addresses randomly of the web/forums.  Finally, cash out in USD the normal way. Not sure why you would wanna go trough all these troubles;

What do you gain when you own a faucet?

It depends on the number of visitors you have, and how much they click on ads. I had gained -0.001 BTC (no profit) or so when running one.
