On the side now, TrueCrypt has disappear, they suggest switching to Microsoft Bitlocker. Microsoft is one of the biggest supporters of the PRISM program, so using Microsoft software for encryption may not be very wise.

Most of the tools, I think, are still too complex for the average joe to use.
1402  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC In Afghanistan? ... it's 100% ripe right now on: June 05, 2014, 05:50:37 PM
oh man, we're going to see tunnel visioned miliary leaders speaking out against bitcoin. i can't stand those people; they are so narrow-minded and think the U.S. is always the good guy, and everyone else is bad.

It would be somewhat ironic, as the United States Air Force has quietly been working on a Bitcoin payment gateway http://bitcoinmagazine.com/12517/u-s-navy-preparing-bitcoin-battalion/

1404  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the West gearing up to invade Russia once again? on: June 05, 2014, 04:15:15 PM
More to the topic of my opening post, I came across an interesting article to the effect of conquering Russia in 1812 and dividing the territories that are now Ukraine effect (it seems to be Google-translated from Polish):

Cancelled … Napoleonida of Donetsk Oblast and Crimea
http://survincity.com/2013/05/cancelled-napoleonida-of-donetsk-oblast-and-crimea/

Grey - give to Poland
Yellow - new country, Napoleonida
Green - Chernigov county
Red - Poltava county
Light-grown - undivided

Will there be a wall in between by any chance? This plan sounds sounds familiar

On the other hand the price of the internet related firms was not the same like the real adoption. Remember that dotcom bubble. It is highly possible, that there will be a big hype about Bitcoin and it could be worth a million USD - for a very short time.

I was very very young during the dotcom bubble, I dont remember it  Smiley

So, but we need to get to the 5% adoption rate. This was around the early 2000. So let's say in 5 years every 20th transaction in the world is with Bitcoin with 50% reserve.

I agree with you, adoption rate would be a better indicator.
1406  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bashar Assad wins Syria presidential election with 88.7% of vote on: June 05, 2014, 02:28:14 PM
The Syrian elections have the same problem as any elections organized in the middle of a civil war:

It's not a civil war.

It's the U.S. and Britain funding Al Qaeda terrorists to attack a country they want to run a gas pipeline through.

Grow up.

It's funny how these things work out when something happens to be in their best interest, no?

Indeed, it is not a civil war, but a foreign invasion. Iran, Kurdistan, Saudia Arabia are amongst the nations involved. Have a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Front_%28Syria%29

Is the western media doing stories putting Syrian rebels in a good light?

Yes, they are. They were "rebel fighters" at first, but since Putin showed these 'rebel fighters' were eating organs of humans these terms didnt really work out anymore. (the video of this is on liveleak).  I am not saying one side is better than the other, just that western media is manipulated.

- Americans are losing their job

The US has been going downhill for quite a while. Inflation since http://www.bearishnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/us-inflation-since-1913.jpg
The current US policy seems to be to print more money, in effect, causing more inflation.  Here is a chart showing the debt of the US https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/64/Dept.svg/990px-Dept.svg.png  Here is a debt world map to compare with other countries: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/35/Public_debt_percent_gdp_world_map.PNG There is mass corruption in the world bank and banks, have a look at : https://theawakezone.wordpress.com/2014/04/21/world-bank-whistleblower-reveals-how-the-global-elite-rules-the-world/  This is the main cause for Americans losing their jobs.

- There has been an increase in crime, pollution and traffic congestion
We have the biggest dragnet surveillance system of the world so crime should have reduced lately, right?  Wink
Traffic congestion can be solved in two ways:  either less people in cars on the roads, or, wider roads.
Pollution is a world wide problem, have a look at this map http://static3.businessinsider.com/image/5241dfceecad04146283235d-1200-600/pollution_excess_deaths_lrg.png In terms of pollution immigrants (and natives) are better of going to the northern hemisphere or Australia.

1408  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best bitcoin casino? on: June 05, 2014, 01:09:59 PM
I prefer simple dice sites, and enjoy in both JD and PD.

Yeah i love PD so much, i dont like JD design .
I quite love luckynumber design and pd3 will have similar modern look.

PD looks fancier, and has a faucet. And Stunna organizes "happy hour" from time to time.
JD looks simpler, and we can invest in the bankroll easily.

How much is paid using the faucet during happy hour?  Standard rate seems to be 0.00000250 BTC.
Is there any way to know in advance when the happy hour would be?
1409  Economy / Economics / Re: ECB introduces Negative deposit rates for commercial banks - good for bitcoin? on: June 05, 2014, 01:07:47 PM
Just announced a minus 0.10 deposit rate for commercial banks as a 'incentive' for them to invest.

Hard to do QE with such variance between member countries.

In the long term its good for bitcoin. All this debts and theft is leading to a destruction of the EU.

Consumption > production : Poor
Consumption < production : Rich
What does Paris Hilton produce?

Sometimes there is enough production but does not reach all the individuals, in that case they are also poor. So this rule can be broken;

1413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why when bitcoins rises the altcoins falls? on: June 05, 2014, 12:30:22 AM
Check out this table:

http://coinfinance.com/gainers_losers/30_days

Even LTC and DOGE has deep fallen. It all started when BTC raised back, is it because the altcoins holders moved to BTC and started selling like crazy their alts in order to get some BTC ?

Alt coins have only 10% of the market and are very influenced by fluctuation. My guess is that they see the more stable bitcoin rising, and trade for btc-  in order to make profit. Then, they may trade again back for alt coin; I remember LTC was rising from $10 to $40, many people jumped aboard trading for LTC. Then the whole thing plumpets to $10;

As for doges  Roll Eyes I do not think big players see them as long term investments.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

This is a software bug. Its a "NullReferenceException" or "null" exception. To fix it, initialize the Button2 in the source code.

1415  Other / Off-topic / Re: Was bitcoin divided to satoshi from beginning? on: June 05, 2014, 12:17:48 AM
In initial years[although I think these are initial years too] when bitcoin worth less than a $ at that point of time talking about satoshis might sound totally absurd..! but these units was defined at that time
    i. 1 BTC = 1 Bitcoin
    ii. 1 mBTC = 10^(-3) Bitcoin
    iii. 1 μBTC = 10^(-6) Bitcoin
    iv. 1 Satoshi = 10^(-8) Bitcoin
I hope someday 1satoshi will have some value...but will i'll stay alive to see that day , hmm I doubt that..

If 1 satoshi is 1$ then 1 bitcoin is 100.000.000$
If 1 satoshi is 0.01$ then 1 bitcoin is 1.000.000$

The latter could happen, maybe in 15 years  Smiley
1416  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: June 04, 2014, 11:35:08 PM
Hey everyone. In today's developed world where we have glasses that can access the internet and robots that can think on their own, it is a shame that there are still people in parts of the world living under 1$ a day.
What can governments do to end poverty in their countries? Is a solution possible under capitalism? Or did Karl Marx had the right idea with his recommendation of a socialist government?

First you have to define poverty. I will take this definition : deprivation of basic human needs, which commonly includes food, water, sanitation, clothing, shelter, health care and education.

In capitalism, the availability of these services is directly correlated with your money.
In socialism, these services are available to all, but other people pay for it. The pile of money has to be large enough for all society.

Either way, both are correlated with money - if there is not enough money, people get into poverty.
In the end, all persons have x money to distribute over these services. No matter the systems.
I would define wealth W, money x and a set of elements {food f, water w, sanitation s, clothing c, shelter s, health care h ,education e}

Then:
 W = fX1 + wX2 + sX3 + cX4 + hX5 + eX6

x has to be large enough for the individuals in the group, to not be poor. In practice, x is not large enough in both capitalism and socialism.

the solution is to increase x for all individuals, or to share the elements.

Humans are not alone in these problems. Animals daily look for food, water and shelter - but depending on the animal they solve it differently. For example, bats and ants sleep together in one huge "apartment".Beavers make their "apartment" based on what they learn from others. Others sleep together in open air;

Governments can do so many things, but they are interested in their individual careers and wellness. No matter if you look in the east or west governments. If you want specific examples, they could build large complex for homeless people to share - in the same way as ants or bats. That way, you spend few X_total to solve the shelter problem.

1417  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will BTC reach $50,000? on: June 04, 2014, 10:30:46 PM
Many linear predictions, here is another based on forum data:

2010 new members : 1 to 700 -> 1$
2011 new members : 800 to 14000 -> 25$
2012 new members : 2000 to 3000 -> 7$
2013 new members : 2000 to 30.000 -> 121$
2014 new members : 17.000 to 46.000 (so far) -> 650$

simplified:
2010 new members : to 1000 -> 1$
2011 new members : to 10.000 -> 25$
2012 new members : to 3000 -> 7$
2013 new members : to 30.000 -> 121$
2014 new members : to 50.000 (so far) -> 650$

1000 to 50.000 in 5 years. 1 to 650
50.000 to 2.500.000 in next 5 year. 5 times as many members -> 16.250$ per coin in 2019
Assuming linear scale 10.000$ in ~3.5 years. around 2016-2018

1418  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2014-06-04 Crash on: June 04, 2014, 07:45:33 PM
There hasnt been a crash, its just the fluctuations. If you look at the long term chart its just a detail;

I've been working on a new electronic cash system that's fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party.
Clearly mentioned "I" as opposed to "we".  The first bitcoin version 0.0.1 had 51 files, of which about 31 files are code.  The c++ files contained a total of 11901 lines of code, c++ header files (definition files) about 7919 lines. A total of 19820 lines of code, it is not impossible as a one man project; I found an older version with about 5 files, which date from 15 nov 2008. Earliest message was on 2008-10-31. The paper has about 9 pages. Id say this is not impossible to do in about a month or two month period.

Al tough lines of code are a bad measure for productivity, lets do it anyway; Say you write 500 lines a day, you'd have 30.000 in 2 months. If you are working with 10 guys 500 lines of code per day seems feasible, it would be 300.000 lines in 2 months. If it was a team of 10 guys.. then what were they doing in all this time?  Cheesy In addition, when you put a lot of people together you get a lot of discussion about how things should be done, developers have strong opinions. So a time larger of 10 or larger is very very unlikely.
There are a lot of clever people not working for the NSA, dont be mistaking, it is possible it was not developed there.
