I just came across this very interesting news:
''Andy Murray will practise with Novak Djokovic in Rome on Sunday and hopes to return to action in 10 days' time''
Personally, I feel sorry for Murray as a player.
I remember him as a great tennis player who at the peak of his career was equal to Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, but he was stopped by numerous injuries and last year by coronavirus.
Is it possible for him to return to the top of world tennis?
I sincerely doubt it but it’s nice to see Nadal giving him support and help.

Source: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/57032348
Being a top player now looks more difficult for him it even looks impossible but who knows, while he was still playing anything could happen, before that He must find his best form first. it's nice to see his fellow players support each other, and he needs that support to get his confidence after long injury.

I would have never thought that zverev could beat nadal and thiem and move into the final thank god i did not place any bets for those to matches because i would have lost both. Now he is the favorite against berrettini because he managed to beat nadal and thiem but i am in doubt again if zverev is living up to the role of being favourite in the final. The match is pretty open so far in the first set and in the moment it looks like the set will be decided in the tiebreak.
Well he live up for being the favorite as he gave up the first set to Berrettini and then took over the next two games. So yeah, he had beaten the best in this tournament leading up to him winning.

Now he has the potential to go to French Open as second favorite behind Nadal because of the strengths of his showing in Madrid. Of course Nadal will be the favorite, but at least Zverev's name will be in the discussion for the Grand Slam now and trim Nadal's odd.

Zverev played a very good tournament and is now fit for the French Open, Nadal is definitely the favorite again in Paris, but Thiem and Zverev can also play very well there. Berrettini also played well but it was a little too little against Zverev.

Yes, Nadal will definitely the favourite in Paris, but here comes the next generation of young and very aggressive tennis players just pulling Nadal's coat now and will go for him in French Open.

Zverev will likely be the second odds favourite, Thiem, Tsitsipas and then Berrettini. We don't know how long can Nadal hold, because in the last 2 clay tournaments he was upset as early as QF if I'm not mistaken.

French is going to be pretty much his only chance for a slam. I don't think his playstyle is suited enough to go through all the way in the other slams.

Thiem was anxious to get game time after being out with an injuy to get
back before the French Open. You could hear that he was very happy
with the progress he was making, Rome will be another chance for game
time, maybe he can go further this time.

Cannot rule out Zverev also, he has to be on a positive wave he could
again put a stop to Nadals progress to the final . . . we will see soon enough.

What has happened to Khachanov? He was in the spotlight before Medvedev and Rublev rose to the level they are at. Kachanov was initially supposed to be the next Russian sensation but it seems like he has missed the boat of form for his other russian counterparts. Apart from looking like Liam Hemsworth, nothing seems to be going his way for a while. Lost to Delbonis, whos a clay specialist today. On the positive side of things, Vera Zvonareva has won her first match at The Internazionali BNL d'Italia since 2008!! That's been a long time. Good comeback from Zvonareva and is looking pretty strong again. I think Kim Clijsters is playing the tournament as well. So, that's like a early 2000's throwback, if Vera and Kim face eachother.

I think Thiem is quite a good all rounder as he already won the US open and reached the final in Australian open... Only on grass, he is not so good as he never went further than the 4th round in Wimbledon.

Yes, Nadal will definitely the favourite in Paris, but here comes the next generation of young and very aggressive tennis players just pulling Nadal's coat now and will go for him in French Open.

Nadal is still the favorite to win Roland Garros but I am curious to see the odds.

BIG WINNER!

Thiem was coming off from an injury, and maybe he is not 100% as he played conservatively against Zverev.

Anyone watching the Italian Open, lots of seeded players still in the contention

Djokovic will be playing and so are the rest of the top seeds, Nadal vs Sinner (which will be good).

And then we have Medvedev, Zverev, Thiem and Tsitsipas as well.

Absolutely cannot rule out Djokovic, he is going for his sixth Rome title this year.

I like Sinner but he has a tough match up now against Nadal going for his tenth title.
Does he have a chance against Rafa this year eventhough he took a set off him last year?

https://www.atptour.com/en/news/sinner-humbert-rome-2021-monday

Quote
The 19-year-old will now meet his training partner in Australia three months ago. The pair met for the first time in October last year in the Roland Garros quarter-finals, which Nadal won 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-1.

Absolutely cannot rule out Djokovic, he is going for his sixth Rome title this year.

I like Sinner but he has a tough match up now against Nadal going for his tenth title.
Does he have a chance against Rafa this year eventhough he took a set off him last year?

The 19-year-old will now meet his training partner in Australia three months ago. The pair met for the first time in October last year in the Roland Garros quarter-finals, which Nadal won 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-1.

Today the matches at Rom.

Medvedev, Djokovic, Schwartzman and Berrettini will simply win their games today in two sets I think. I'm curious if there will be surprises in Rome, the tournament is well staffed and a training (outlook) for the French open.

Some good matches are coming up today with players like djokovic, schwartzmann, goffin, berrettini and medwedew. It is sad to see that dimitrov is already out again of this tournament as he is one of the players i enjoy to watch the most because he is playing this elegant one-handed backhand. It will be also interesting to see how well berrettini is performing later today. He played the final against Zverev in Madrid but must now play 1 day earlier than zverev again. It would be good for the italians if he would advance to the next round as fognini already got eliminated yesterday.

Hope Thiem can step it up. He played very reserved in Madrid and that didnt help him at all against Zverev. Thiem is supposed to be great on clay and has proven it a fair few times but lately with the addition of newer gen players, it seems like Thiem is almost always under performing. French is going to be pretty much his only chance for a slam. I don't think his playstyle is suited enough to go through all the way in the other slams.

Zverev will likely be the second odds favourite, Thiem, Tsitsipas and then Berrettini. We don't know how long can Nadal hold, because in the last 2 clay tournaments he was upset as early as QF if I'm not mistaken.

Nadal is still the favorite to win Roland Garros but I am curious to see the odds.

Thiem also in the French open Final at 2018 and 2019, but he always fails at Nadal, in Paris that's no shame for the last 15 years, Nadal always plays his very best tennis in Paris and has been for more than 15 years. I'm already looking forward to this year he has clearly won the last 4 finals.

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_French-Open-Sieger_(Herreneinzel)

He only lost one set at the Finals the last 4 years and that against Thiem. Amazing

Djokovic just had a hard time against Fritz today, he was leading the second set 5-4 serving for the match when the rain started, he was furious that the umpire didn't suspend the match, he lost the set 5-5 before the umpire suspend it.

And then they started again, and Djokovic was push to a tie-break and eventually won the game. But it doesn't look good them, maybe it was the condition, but we will see, I won some with his win + Auger Allassime upsetting number 8 Schwartzman.

^^ Yeah Djokovic was really upset about it,

https://twitter.com/dihyatnn/status/1392150816463720453

He is shouting at the umpire, "How much more do you wanna play"

We can't blame Djokovic though, he has a history of against Fritz, going back Australian Open 2021 wherein Fritz comeback and almost defeated him from 2-0 down. Maybe Djokovic is thinking about this one and doesn't want to give Fritz.

I really dont get Djokovic lately, shouting at the umpire, really, he has that hot head about him.

Look at the U.S Open last year when he was disqualified for hitting the ball into a line umpire.

I can see him loosing it and doing something stupid again, he is world #1, Nadal for example would
not conduct himself like that, shouting at the referee.

Anyone betting in this tournament?

I had Berrettini, Bautista-Agut, Djokovic and Shapolapov winning @2.65 and it's good that I got the win, put some decent amount so I have the capital to begin.

@aoluain - yeah, I was surprised at Djokovic getting with the umpire again, it might hurt him in the long run specially games that are important and close.

Im making a few bets on and off depending on what I fancy and betting conservatively.

I also had Berrettini and Djokovic low odds though of course

I have Tsitsipas and Thiem today against Cilic and Fucsovics respectively again low odds.

Its nice to get a winner with high odds especially when betting favourites a lot of the time.

Schwartzman just lost his touch on several tournaments so I'm not surprised by hist lost today.

Yes, that's two good match, Sinner vs Nadal, I don't know but I still thinks that Nadal will win in 2 sets.

For Kasatsev vs Medvedev, still the same, Karatsev is one of the hottest player right now, and I agree, Karatsev is more suited for this clay court and he is the favourite the last time I check. But probably Medvedev will give everything, but Karatsev might win in 3 sets.

Medvedev, Djokovic, Schwartzman and Berrettini will simply win their games today in two sets I think. I'm curious if there will be surprises in Rome, the tournament is well staffed and a training (outlook) for the French open.
Schwartzman lost in straight sets to Felix, no big surprises so far, maybe today when J. Sinner vs R. Nadal and also A. Karatsev vs D. Medvedev match. Could be Sinner beat Nadal and even Medvedev rank higher than Karatsev but since Medvedev isn't player that suit in clay so Karatsev more favourite to win this match, moreover, this year's Karatsev has shown a pretty good performance
Karatsev keeps performing at high levels, even against really good players, he beat Medvedev today and his next opponent is Opelka, and i think Karatsev can beat him and reach the Quater finals, which could be against either Aliassime or Delbonis, i can easily see him reaching the semi final at least, do guys think he can win it ?!
