And Osaka is out, don't know what happened in first set but second one was very competitive. Vondorusova kept her level of play and in the end Osaka just made too many unforced errors. Net was not her friend today, she hit top of the net numerous times and lost the point every time. If just few of those balls dropped a bit differently they would now be in third set.

Not that I can name Greeks off the top of my head right now but you sort of imagine the birthplace of Olympics would have quite a few tennis players.

Now wouldn't it be amazing if he ended up getting a chance at revenge against Djokovic in the final? Does the route make that possible? Can't tell from how it's all set up now.

regarding Greek players, could remember only Pete, but he played for USA

regarding Tsitsipas chances against Djokovic, I do not see it as possibility for him to beat Djokovic in any way, it is probably one of most secure outcomes on the Olympics, that Djokovic will take gold
out of competition, Medvedev and Zverev could provide interesting matches for Djokovic, but hardly win

and yeah, Tsitsipas has to reach final to meet Djokovic

It would indeed be nice to see a rematch between Djokovic and Tsitsipas,
the only change would be the surface and of course Djokovic is proficient on
all surfaces it seems.

Medvedev and Zverev are going well, I havent had any bets on them, they
are so far big favourites in the matches ive seen.

In todays matches I have bets on Khachanov, Hurkacz, Nishikori and Medvedev,
all favourites.

And this is surface is not Tsitsipas strength, he is more of a clay court specialist. So the gold for this year's Olympic I would also say is locked for Djokovic, and the then the golden slam is within reach of him.

Pete Sampras is of Greek origin, but yes, he is a US players.

Yeah, I know that Osaka is out, just disappointed that she didn't perform.

How many male players did achieve the golden slam yet? Djokovic will definitely go for it and make it. With Olympic gold in his back he is going to the US Open and will be unstoppable again. I can't see anyone seriously threatening his reign for at least the next two years to come.

no one yet, if he win both, he will be the first one, it is a rare opportunity, TBH, since Olympics are every four year

back on topic, Nishikori pulls out a nice win, and he is set to play Ivashka in next round, then Djokovic, match with Djokovic would be a good one few years ago, but at the moment, even home ground could not bring him any advantage, to even make that match interesting
Djokovic will play mixed-doubles as well, with Stojanovic

And Osaka is out, don't know what happened in first set but second one was very competitive. Vondorusova kept her level of play and in the end Osaka just made too many unforced errors. Net was not her friend today, she hit top of the net numerous times and lost the point every time. If just few of those balls dropped a bit differently they would now be in third set.

I guess it was just to much pressure for Osaka. If i remember correctly she already said before the french open that she has some sort of depression and does not want to talk to journalists anymore. So she seems to be a very sensible person in this regard and now she is in the situation, that she was the last one to carry the torch to ignite the olympic fire in the stadium which is a huge honor but also applies a huge pressure on you to perform well during the games. So i would say that this was a pretty bad pick by the japanese olympic team to choose Osaka to do that, both for her and for them. They surely knew that she is a very sensible person but still decided that way.

I'm sorry about Osaka, at one point she seemed like Serena's natural heiress but obviously she can't overcome her psychological blockages and the pressure of top tennis.
Maybe she should really seek psychological help because she hasn’t played at her usual level in a long time, from GS in Australia.
It would really be a great pity for such a great tennis talent to fail.
Sometimes it is very difficult to meet the high expectations of the public.
Which do you think, which of the remaining tennis players in the women's competition at the Olympic tournament is the main favorite for gold?

So to move away from Croatians... Um so, yeah, I'm not having good luck with even Olympic betting. Barty killed my accas, then next Swiatek, so I'm definitely leaving women's tennis alone unless Osaka AND Nishikori win next one on straight sets to give me some of my losses back.

I told myself not to bet...

Right, so, Tsitsipas to finally stumble next, easy money right? I know it's bad to bet against a guy who keeps tripping but this is the same guy (Tiafoe) who smashed him out absolutely just a month ago.
Sorry to hear about your losses there have been a lot of surprises in women tennis at these olympic games thats why i will be carefull when betting on them as for tsitsipas and tiafoe it was a tricky thing to bet on tiafoe because he won against tsitsipas in wimbeldon and this will extra motivation for stephanos plus its in different courts so anything can happen.

Just checking the draws for tonight and again we have lots of heavy favorites so I have to turn to handicaps. I am thinking easy matches for Zverev and Medvedev so taking them -3.5. Humbet could make some problems for Tsitipas so I am taking Humbert +5.5.

And another value pick, Broady to win against Chardy. When I am looking at the stats this should be easy for Broady and odds are @2.5. I am just a bit skeptical since I never saw him play so it is difficult for me to judge the match up properly.

Thanks for your picks, I'm probably tailing the Zverev and Medvedev and probably do a parlay.

Just surprised though to see the line going as high as -5.5 for both matches. While the Tsitsipas vs Humbert is now -3.5 for Stepanos.

Nishikori could also be a good bet, -2.5 vs Ivashka.

Medvedev made it. Far too late for me to have seen this but I am almost skipping pre-match tennis altogether after a really bad showing so far, and going instead to try and catch early games for live betting, waiting to see if favourites drop the first set and then putting money on them. I put it on Nishikori at 2.65 when he was down 6-5 on first set just now. Hope he scrapes out of this mess he made for himself.

Chardy is now 2.6, and Fokina is 14/1 (which a particular bookie will pay out if your ML leads by 4 games at any stage of the game) so considering a small bet on Fokina, as Djokovic has yet to throw a set -- and he normally does at least once a tourney;)

Naomi Osaka is one of my favorite tennis players, but unfortunately luck has not been on her side this year, besides having no experience in participating in the Olympics, of course Naomi Osaka also has a big burden because she is a mainstay for Japan to be able to get a medal at this year Olympics, but Naomi Osaka The four-time Grand Slam champion had to admit defeat to Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets because she lost 6-1, 6-4 in the third round.

Humbert beat Tsitsipas in 3 sets, I think Tsitsipas will be able to finish this match in straight sets because the first set he won quite easily 6-2, but everything turned around after the tie break in the second set, and Humbert sealed the win.

When it comes to Osaka, it seems that experience is not a problem for her because her Grand Slam record proves her quality, but it's more about her mental, however her career journey still long there will be another record that will definitely be made.

Djokovic vs Fokina - they are fighting it out but obviously, Djokovic takes the first set easy 6-2 and leading the second 2-1. I have this match over 16.5.

Zverev already won as well against Basilashvili.

Muguruza vs Rybakina, it looks like we are going to see an upset, Rybakina won the first set and currently leading 4-1 in the second set.

Both Croatian double pairs in the semifinals. Dodig/Čilić are matched against Venus/Daniell and are big favorites in that game and Pavić/Mektić are probably playing against Sandgren/Krajicek - they are currently in the lead against Struff/Zverev.

Since they are not playing each other in the semis - it means that Croatia already has a bronze medal guaranteed. I'm really confident though that they will face each other in the final.

Muguruza is out indeed as is Tsitsipas, 2 players we expected to go further.

I was betting on Tsitsipas earlier in the competition but as the tournament progresses
he comes up against better opposition, today he met Humbert who will be delighted
to be able to beat a high ranking player like Tsitsipas and go to the quarter finals.

Mens quarter finals tomorrow as follows:

Djokovich v Nishikori
Khachanov v Humbert
Carreno Busta v Medvedev
Zverev v Chardy

There is one definite semi final qualifier and I will probably pick, Khachanov, Medvedev and Zverev

Called it yesterday, I am also expecting Croatian final here and maybe even surprise result of Cilic/Dodig taking it.

Knew Tsitsipas will have problems but I did not expect him to loose again against Humbert. Should have put some money on ML as well, odds were much better than my 5.5 handicap.

Before olimpic games started I really expect that Pavic and Mektic will play in final but didn't know what to expect from Cilic and Dodig.
Cilic didn't play well in the single competition but in double he really played on much higher level and now we are very close to win 2 medals in tennis.
Great achievment for Croatian tennis in olimpic games and first medal since olimpic games in 2004.

Yeah, we already know that Tsitsipas will have difficulty in this surface. Lost also on my bet. Quarter-finals are hot, hard to pick who are going to advance, the Djokovich v Nishikori should be the most anticipated match. Home town hero against the top seed and unstoppable Djokovic. It's going to be close but I think Djokovic can win in 2 sets here.
