Well it was very likely that the French Open would be pushed back but just 1 week doesn't seem enough in my opinion. The AO was pushed back 2 weeks and still there were some minor issues so it doesn't look like the organizers of the French Open are going by the AO so it will be interesting to see how they handle it.

Yes, I also question the pushed back for just a week. They are going to scrambling within a week. But I'm thinking that just like AO, who initially put 1 week as well, it might be push to two weeks.

Does anyone know if sports stars have had any vaccines yet? I haven't seen or read anything about this, also the problem is that some players might not want the vaccine and then will the tennis board make it mandatory for players to take the vaccine or they won't be able to play.

@Kemarit maybe the organisers are keen to organise it as early as possible to avoid financial loss that comes with every delay, this is just my hunch so I could be wrong too. Also like the stars even I’m yet not ready to get the jab, especially because it was made way too quick, and hence I totally back their stand on the vaccines.

Not sure if its because of financial loss, I'm thinking its more to do with the tennis schedule as we have Wimbledon and the Olympics all around each other plus the Masters tournaments if all go ahead. Players need rest so I'm thinking that could be the reason why they have pushed it back one week but that is my guess.

I'm with you mate, I will not be getting the vaccine as there hasn't been enough testing. Most vaccines have years of testing where as this vaccine has had less then a year before it was rolled out and now we are seeing problems with one of the vaccines causing blood clots which is a big concern for us all. I think they were looking for a quick fix which could make things even worse.

Yeah, I agree with you, it has nothing to do with financial losses here, they can still make a lot of money even if it will be delayed for 1-2 weeks.

I'm also with you guys regarding the vaccine, not enough testing and we have seen news of some people getting negative effects and in extreme cases die because of the vaccine. I'm a high risk person (diabetes), so no, I'm not willing to take and it's good that tennis players as well have qualms.

In the latest tournament news, another big upset Spain's Badosa ousts world No. 1 Barty at Volvo Car Open

Paula Badosa beat top-ranked Ashleigh Barty 6-4, 6-3 at the Volvo Car Open on Friday.

The Spaniard reached the tournament semifinals in her first time at the season's opening clay-court tournament. And she was rarely pressured by Barty on the way to her first victory over a No. 1 player.

It's a straight set lost for Barty here, although this could be just a minor tournament. Anyone heard of Badosa though?

I think Felix Auger-Aliassime really needs a good coach as this point of his career. He is somewhat on the borderline, he could be a good tennis player but it seems he lack something. So I would a agree that getting an experience coach like Toni Nadal will help him a lot if he wanted to go on the next level.

And I'm pretty sure though that Nadal has given the blessing for Uncle Toni to move and coach other tennis player. As far as whether he can create a new tennis champion? We will see, I'm sure he will give tons of advise based on his experience with Rafa here. So let's just hope for the best for Felix Auger-Aliassime moving forward.

What worries me is that they might make it hard for people to travel who don't get the vaccine and maybe even some countries might not allow people into their country without having the vaccine. I just read that they will have passports stating who has had the vaccine and who hasn't so if this becomes mandatory, it will be kind of forcing tennis players to take the vaccine if they want to travel and play tennis.

I think the governments around the world are slowly taking away our freedom as I think every has a right on whether they take the vaccine or not especially this vaccine which hasn't even had a lot of testing compared to other vaccines which have had years before being rolled out to the people.

As I have said a number of times on here. I have serious doubts about the younger players coming through will ever achieve success while Nadal, Djokovic and Federer are still playing. More so Djokovic as he has been in top form for the past few years now but still Nadal is tough to beat. Once these guys retire then we'll start to see the young talent start winning grand slams and I'm thinking we'll see what we are seeing in Women's tennis, several top players winning grand slams instead of one or two players always winning each year.

That's the main problem we see with the young talent, their mentality to win matches and to continue on with the winning mentality but we are yet to see this yet. The Davis Cup competition will last 11 days, which seems too long and unnecessary to me.
Perhaps it would have been better if they had started the competition from the beginning, anew, and shortened the duration of the competition.
This kind of competition comes at the end of the season and will be very physically demanding and the players will already be tired after a busy season.
I expect a lot of players to cancel their participation due to injuries and fatigue.

Nadal has now won 11 times in Monte Carlo. To see once if he can do it again this year, it is very impressive how often he has already won several tournaments on the clay court (such as the French open).

Sound like good news for Felix. There is something to be said for someone able to keep Nadal playing at such a high level for such a long time. I wish I could buy stocks of players because I feel that it is not only about knowing about tennis and PE training, it is a lot about making sure the athlete is able to compete in the long term with minimum injuries. Nadal has been having issues with injuries yes, but not as much as it could be expected from such a level of competition.

It is too bad that Federer is not competing in this tournament. It would have been interesting to see in what form Federer is. Nadal is the big favorite to win the title, but the odds are not really interesting.

Jannick Sinner is not an easy opponent either, he can cause some problems and make it really difficult for Novak Djokovic, he is young and he showed what he's capable of in the past masters tournament in Miami, i am expecting him to at least win a set against Novak.

I agree, Sinner is a young talent and can even may cause an upset and beat Djokovic. Not going to bet on Sinner to win, but an asian handicap on Sinner has some value in my eyes.

Yeah right, betting on Nadal when the tournament is held on clay the odds are not very attractive, for example the match later where Nadal will play againts F. Delbonis, the odds for Nadal are only 1.025, fans is happy because he is very favorite to win, but for the bettor it is not attractive odds to take it.
