^^ He will be facing Sonego next, which is more of a clay surface player. So I think that Federer can get past him but it could be in 4 or even 5 setter here. He is still the favourite to win, and I'm looking at the O/U and probably will bet later on other events.

Djokovic vs Garin (-9.5) Djokovic @1.87, what can you say @Trofo - can he cover it?

I hope he wins this Wimbledon as a crown of his career - but it would really be a surprise. Even for him.

yeah, he would be highly surprised to win the competition
he is struggling now, but still play the tennis, that is real tennis, not chasing each ball in defense, but attacking on each opportunity and with powerful shots

nevertheless, he was much better in third round compared to first two (especially first with Manarino), but needs a lot more to pass into SF, and even more for the Final (I do not think he would make it to SF, TBH)

They call it Manic Monday, the first Monday of the 2nd week of Wimbledon. To reach it is already a small conquest: it means to have survived the first, hellish seven days and to have become part of the restricted club of the best sixteen. Among these there is also the class Sebastian Korda, who surprisingly imposed himself on the specialists De Minaur and Evans, both overcome in three sets. The American has talent and, despite still being very young, is showing it a bit on all surfaces. In the round of 16 he will face another who, according to the forecasts, should not have reached so high: the Russian Karen Khachanov. Who, in the third round, didn't even leave the crumbs to the excellent Tiafoe, who in turn executed Tsitsipas at the beginning.
Right now Korda leads on Kachanov 5-2

Have no idea, 9.5 is a lot on grass and I did not see Djoko play on grass this year. Too much football taking my time. He can cover it for sure if he decides to make a statement but more often than not players are happy with one break on grass and don't push too much after getting it.

I am skipping it but if I wanted to put some money on this match I would go for Djokovic under 18.5 games. Basically a bet that he will take all sets without letting opponent get to 5 or 6 games.

Good to hear the Federer has won again, it seems that he is getting back to his form. It was a tough battle against Norrie. Sonego is next, but he is more of a clay court player, so I guess Federer has some advantage of him.

Medvedev has to be stretch by Cilic in a 5 setter, it's a good comeback from Medvedev as he is down 2 sets but he recovers himself and won the next 3.

I guess Federer is always a nostalgic choice for many of us here. I was watching an ad for Wimbledon and they were showing a lot of Federer moments and,,, it just makes me realize how old he looks now after all those times spent in taking care of injuries.

It would be awesome if somehow he makes it to the final to face Djokovic,,, still 12/1 odds on him!

So Federer is always good for a surprise at Wimbledon, just like Nadal in Paris, but could he hold his own in a 5 set match against Djokovic? I almost don't think so, everything would have to work well for Federer and not for Djokovic. But Federer and Djokovic can only meet in the final anyway.

Has anybody watched Khachanov - Korda today? I had over games on my ticket and stopped watching after they entered 5th set. Later on I checked result and saw that they had more breaks then holds of serve. Wtf? Men on grass playing like it is WTA on clay?

LOL, what?

I didn't watch the match but I have Khachanov (-0.5) @1.86. I just saw the score and he lost the first set but I know he can come back and cover that spread and eventually he did.

Surprisingly to see Fucsovics beating Rublev in 5 sets. I think he is one of the dark horse in this Wimbledon. Djokovic is also thru to the next game, 3 sets win against Garin.

What a surprise, Alexander Zverev has been eliminated. Federer plays his match confidently in 3 sets it seems. Medvedev's match is interrupted but it is not an easy match for him and he still has to make an effort. Djokovic also won his match confidently in 3 sets.

You'd have to favour Djokovic quite strongly. If he can beat Nadal on the clay, as he did in the French not so long ago, then he can beat Federer on the grass.
Federer is a phenomenal player, but he's not quite at his best any more. I'm not sure anyone can beat Djokovic here really.

What a day, a lot happening today, I had two bets on, safe enough ones TBH,
Medvedev and Federer to win. Hopefully Medvedev can finish it out tomorrow.

Big upsets also today, Rublev beaten by Fucsovics who is having a good year
for himself so far and Zverev beaten by Felix AA.

On the womens side Jabeur beats Swiatek. Ons Jabeur from Tunisia is making her
own headlines as being her first time into a quarter final and first Tunisian also, she
now faces Sabalenka, a big task.

From what I've seen so far, Federer is struggling a lot. He's still good enough to beat most of the players on quick surfaces and will probably go past Sonego, but after that he has to face Medvedev who will probably be too much for him.

It's truly impressive to see how Federer is still going strong but I'm also a bit sad because the newer generations will remember this Federer - who is vulnerable and is struggling. I'll always remember the one that simply crushed anything in front of him and who glided on the court without even breaking a sweat while delivering worldclass offensive tennis match after match.

I hope he wins this Wimbledon as a crown of his career - but it would really be a surprise. Even for him.

Reading this made me feel sad indeed. He is 39 now and in my mind he is still 20s, strong, and smiling, and the whole world before him,,, it is very sad to see him play even though he won a straight set yesterday almost effortlessly (except first one). If he wins it will be labeled one of the greatest of all time, watch him!

Berrettini's journey continues on the English grass, beating Belarusian Ilya Ivashka 3 sets to 0 in the round of 16 at Wimbledon without any worries. The Italian left only one service turn to his opponent in an hour and 49 minutes of play, but only in the second set and with a comfortable 5-2 advantage with a double break. There was too much difference between the two players, with the Italian number one statistically giving up only in the aces (7 to 8 for Ivashka), but dominating in all the other fundamental categories (the differential between the Italian's winners and those of the Belarusian is even +20, despite a few more unforced errors).

The good thing about Federer advancing to the quarter finals is that he now gains a good bit of confidence. Not only did he get there, but he made it there in 3 - 0 game. I think now in the quarter finals he has a very good chance to also beat Medvedev (if he makes it to the quarters) or the other guy as well. When would he face Novak Djokovic? Semifinals or final?

What a surprise, Alexander Zverev has been eliminated. Federer plays his match confidently in 3 sets it seems. Medvedev's match is interrupted but it is not an easy match for him and he still has to make an effort. Djokovic also won his match confidently in 3 sets.

I watched the game of Zverev vs Aliasimme and it really was a weird match to watch. Everything went normal and well for Zverev until suddenly his second serve was non existent anymore therefore Aliasimme was able to win the first two sets. After that i was pretty sure that the match would end after 3 sets with a clear win for Aliasimme but then somehow Zverev was able to recover and managed to win Set 3 and 4 pretty clearly. The fifth set was again hard-fought but in the end Aliasimme won it. Zverev made a total of 20 double faults in this match, which is simply far too many to win, even if you are the better player. Aliasimme took his chances and achieved a huge success.

Federer will probably face Medvedev in the quarterfinals, I assume that Medvedev will win his supplementary match today. Due to the longer recovery time, Federer will certainly have a small advantage, which he needs given his age and lack of match practice.

Is it true what I read, if Medvedev wins Wimbledon he would be #1 in the ATP list, will that work out?

Federer won smoothly against Sonego, which was kind of expected. Still, good for him that he did not waste a lot of energy - the whole match lasted a bit over 2 hours. He needed to be fresh to have a chance against Medvedev, which he accomplished.

Medvedev is currently struggling against Hurkacz, they are tied at 1-1 in the 5th set. Medvedev losing this would be a huge surprise.

Is it true what I read, if Medvedev wins Wimbledon he would be #1 in the ATP list, will that work out?

I think the following scenario will make Medvedev the #1

(a) Medvedev reaching the finals
(b) Medvedev winning the Wimbledon
(c) Djokovic not reaching the finals
(d) Djokovic not winning the Wimbledon

So there is the scenario that he has total control with, like winning the Wimbledon. So I guess the best thing to do right now is just focus on winning the Wimbledon this year.

Medvedev even lost a break in the final set against Hurkacz currently even struggling to get a point on his serve. I think this might be it for Medvedev if he dosent recover somehow and breaks him back

Yep, straight set win for Federer still impressive win although it is to be expected. I think he will face the winner of Medvedev vs Hurkacz.

Medvedev is currently struggling against Hurkacz, they are tied at 1-1 in the 5th set. Medvedev losing this would be a huge surprise.

Hurkacz leading 4-2, Medvedev serving. Medvedev is trying to survived in the 5th to got the win. He still has chance though, so let's see how it goes for him.

Ok Medvedev and I really don't the other guy Federer will now play against. As for my other question when Federer can meet Djokovic, they would only face in the finals. In my honest opinion, I would be so happy to see the two playing against each other in the finals. The last final they played in Wimbledon was unbelievably epic. Almost 5 hours with that devastating tie break in the 5th for Roger who failed to use one of his two match balls. Wink
