Speaking of Nadal I just came across one interesting analysis about him.
''Rafa Nadal reaches a new low: Never has he played so little in a season''
Today's article in the Spanish magazine Marca analyzes the fact that Nadal has played only 8 matches so far this season, never less in his career.
Apparently it’s getting harder for him to come back after each new injury and his tennis career seems to be coming to an end.
This fact probably increases Djokovic’s chance to win a record number of GS and become a GOAT.
What do you think?

Source: https://www.marca.com/en/tennis/2021/04/22/608146bee2704e027c8b460c.html

Did they factor that because we are in the pandemic which changes the whole ball game not just for tennis but for all other sports as well?

Of course Nadal is getting older, no one can deny that fact but saying that his only played 8 matches this season because of injuries and his career is coming to an end is confused or didn't know what's really going on with the minds of tennis players with covid situation around.

Of course we are in a pandemic and the situation is not normal but that is not the main reason why Nadal has played so few matches this year. The main reasons, however, are his age and frequent injuries in recent years.
I didn’t say his career was over but it’s obviously coming to an end, and it’s hard to expect him to win a lot more GS, probably one or two more Roland Garros.
On the other hand, I think Djokovic has a better chance of winning more GS and becoming a GOAT, given that he is physically better and healthier than Nadal.

I was surprised that Schwartzman lost the game after all, but Nadal and Tsitsipias clearly won their semi-final matches and there is an exciting final today. But think that nafal it will win, or what speaks for Tsitsipas?

Although Tsitsipas has improved a lot since they face each other on clay, but I don't think it will be enough to beat Nadal. I think Rafa can get and with this tournament in 3 sets I reckon.

I give one set for Tsitsipas here, and it's going to be a tight battle. Nadal will for sure dictate the tempo and put Tsitsipas on the defensive behind the baseline.

and a tight match it was, Tsitsipas took the second set in a tie break and
that last set was a very close affair, both players producing both
brilliant shots as well as some horrific misses but in the end Rafa found a way.

I think its clear that the reign of the top 3 is waning, and Tsitsipas is to the forefront
in leading the challenge.

I had Rafa to win the title but boy was I sweating in those last few games.

Another good result for Sinner, remember guys he is only 19.
What do you think about him? Can he be the next top player? Can he reach the top 5 positions or even more?

Federer started to win slams at 22yo.

Hahaha, I have Tsitsipas so we are in the opposite side cheering.

Nevertheless, that third set was one of the best, they hold serve until Rafa got Stepanos and I said to myself it's now the end.

2nd set I was clapping here at 11 pm local time, I knew Tsitsipas can at least steal one set and he did.

Lost my bet, but was very proud of Stepanos, he nearly got Rafa!!. Next time it might be a different outcome.

Federer started to win slams at 22yo.

Of course, the kid has a good future ahead of him, 19 years old and yet reaching semis and finals and winning some along the way.

There's this Serbia Open that just concluded, Karatsev vs Berrettini. Karatsev again upset Djokovic to reach the finals, however, Berrettini really played superb in the finals specially in the last set, winning 1-6, 6-3, 6-7. I had my money on Karatsev, he was the early betting odds favourite, unfortunately he lost the match.

I agree that Sinner has taken a lot of us by surprised, he has so much accomplished in his young tennis career, heck he can still compete at jr levels and yet he is winning tournament and facing some of the best tennis players.

So I would say give him 2-3 years, and as he matures physically and more important, mentality, he could be one of those who will be in the discussions along with the bunch of our young generations of tennis players.

Very good! yes I think next time it will be closer, really a tough 3rd set, when Rafa
broke Stefanos' serve I was relieved to say the least.

Even the first set was not easy going, I really thought Stefanos would take that,
but Rafa did well to come back from 4-2 down.

Federer started to win slams at 22yo.
Too early to tell. Sinner has potential but tennis is very mental intensive sport and if he is not 100% clear in his head he will never reach top 5. It is very difficult to reach that mental stability where you believe you can beat anybody and at the same time be realistic about your capabilities and not force it too much. There is a lot of great players which are able to destroy anybody on their good day but never able to have consistent results like Wawrinka, Kyrgios, Rublev, Shapovalov. That is the difference between the big 3 and all the rest.

Tsitsipas, Thiem and Medvedev have come close to them and they are first in line to prove themselves on biggest stage. That being said I am liking Tsitsipas and Thiem much more then Medvedev. They have better attitude on pitch and not too mention they have much better looking strikes then Medvedev.

Good match, Nadal fended off a match point and was able to win the tournament. Impressive record for Nadal, nadal was 12 times in the final of Barcelona and has won the final 12 times. You are right, Tsitsipas won one set and the match Nadal.

Another good result for Sinner, remember guys he is only 19.
What do you think about him? Can he be the next top player? Can he reach the top 5 positions or even more?

Federer started to win slams at 22yo.

I really think Sinner has that mental attitude, he is very level headed, he keeps his
emotions under control and doesnt give much away to his opponent, these traits are
remarkable for a 19 yo.

As for Medvedev, one of my favourite players, he is getting better at controling his emotions.

Having an experienced tennis coach who is able to guide these young players around the
mental skills needed is really important.

Partially agree on Sinner, he is very level headed from what I have seen so far but he is maybe missing that other component I mentioned. I don't see that in Sinner yet.

I am not sure about Medvedev. I would put it differently, he has raised his game and was winning most of the matches so there wasn't a problem with controlling emotions. As soon as he had bad day he broke apart and did not have B plan. He is cool when winning but he needs to work on getting back in the matches when things are not going his way. That is something Djoko and Nadal are doing perfectly and Tsitipas and Thiem also managed to incorporate in their game. In other words amount of matches won after loosing first set.

and a tight match it was, Tsitsipas took the second set in a tie break and
that last set was a very close affair, both players producing both
brilliant shots as well as some horrific misses but in the end Rafa found a way.

I think its clear that the reign of the top 3 is waning, and Tsitsipas is to the forefront
in leading the challenge.

I had Rafa to win the title but boy was I sweating in those last few games.

I'm finally back after my internet went down for several days but it didn't stop me from watching tennis and see how far Tsitsipas has come. I think the big tournament win has helped give him the confidence he needs to be a more consistent player. Even though he lost he still played a great match. I'm just happy to see him start putting in a more consistent game and lets hope he can continue on with this.

Oh ok, just wondering what happen to you mate, and I'm glad that you are ok.

Yes, Tsitsipas coming along this year, I'll keep on betting on this kid for the remainder of the tennis calendar for 2021 and see how he goes.

His been consistent in the last 3 tournaments winning 1 and runner up twice if I'm not mistaken. So he has gain ton of experienced already and the coming French Open will be a big test for him.

Thank you my friend. I wish you the best of luck betting on Tsitsipas for the remaining tennis season. I prefer to bet on him in grand slams as he seems to be more consistent even though he hasn't won a grand slam yet. He also offers great value when placing bets on him to win tournaments as most bet on the top guys, Nadal, Djokovic and then players like Thiem, Medvedev and Zverev but I think soon more will start to take notice of Tsitsipas as he becomes a more consistent player.

How about Aslan Karatsev?

I think he already made a breakout run this year, reaching as high as SF in Australian Open, beating Schwartzman, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Dimitrov.

Winning doubles with Rublev in Qatar Open. And then the singles in Dubai last month, beating Sonego, Rublev himself and then Sinner.

Won against Djokovic in his hometown in Serbia this month, but lost to Berettini in the finals. So I would say that he has also a bright future, although not that young at 27 years old, but he is peaking at the right now and can content in future grand slams.

27 years old is kinda late for him, i wonder why he didn't show up till now, i have never heard of him before untill this year, maybe it's not too late for him but the competition is really hard right now with Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Thiem and of course Nadal and Djokovic and maybe Federer, it won't be easy for him to win a big title, and to be honest i don't think he can.

I agree, his kinda late on the fun, although he can still compete at high levels and give everyone a run for their money. He already beat the number one seed, so he still has what we can call a giant killer. And he can put a big test on the young players, specially Tsitsipas and Thiem as he seems to be a clay court specialist to me. And he could pull some upsets from time to time.

Karatsev could be like a B-level player, what I meant is that he could be outside the top 10, but from time to time he can surprise us with those huge upset win against rank players and then he can won some 250-500 ATP Masters along the way.

But to be in the top 10, it will be hard, he needs to win major grand slams. And as he is obviously older than the rest of the upcoming young generations that will replace the big 3 in the future, it will be hard for him to get one.

Sorry for the late response, I totally agree and you know now that you make these points
it becomes clearer, Sinner does need that killer instinct or swagger in his game, that adds
the psychology of the game and we know Tennis is as much about belief as it is about skill.

As for Medvedev, I'm a bit dissapointed in retrospect in his season so far hopefully he will
rise for the French Open.
