Hello, I'm newbie here. I just tried this pool yesterday and already produced about 13-15 shares (I don't remember exactly) and then I turn off my miner and go to bed. This morning I saw my estimated reward become zero and nothing at my unconfirmed/confirmed, so what I've mined yesterday is totally useless?

This pool doesnt use Pay Per Share as a reward system, it uses a different system which is a bit difficult to explain as I dont completely understand it, but your reward will quickly drop to zero if you quit mining... This is to combat pool hopping. Leave your miner on through the end of round until a block is found, and you will be paid your reward for that block. Other pools have PPS as options, but the fee is always higher because of pool hoppers... Happy Mining!

I do not think it is very difficult. The value of each share you submit is calculated with the following formula:

score_share = exp(t/C)

where t is round duration in seconds, and C is a constant, currently 200. This means the value of each share is exponentially growing, so old share have significantly lower value compared to recent shares. So if you stop mining while others don't, your part of total pool score for that round will decrease exponentially. Additionally, based on measurement I have found that each hour, t is reset to zero and your score is divided by exp(3600/C). This is probably to prevent an arithmetic overflow (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arithmetic_overflow).

This can cause miners privileged information may be in a pool (pps-pplns) 90% time. The other 10% Score in Slush.
Gaining much more than being 100% (pps-pplns) or 100% score.
There should be a rule, if you're not connected 1 minute before finding the block. Your reward will be divided by 3. This would avoid jumping miners knowing that the pool found a block.

I am not sure I correctly understand what you are writing. But if I do: there is no way to predict when exactly a given block will be found by the pool. Looking at the characteristics of the CDF (https://mining.bitcoin.cz/stats/graphs/) you should ask yourself, after how many minutes in the round exactly a 'strategic miner' should join to realize any advantage.

I've been mining as part of the Slush pool for a few months now. I received some 0.05 BTC payouts as expected, but one (which should have occurred a few weeks ago) never arrived. My bitcoin wallet wasn't running when the payout should have happened, but my understanding was that that was OK and I'd get the BTC when my wallet came up.

Instead, it looks like the 0.05 BTC was silently deducted from my account (there is no record of it in my payout history), and it never appeared in my bitcoin wallet.

Anyone else experience this, or any tips to recover my BTC? I tried posting in the slush mining irc channel about this, and they told me to post on bitcointalk.

Can someone from Slush respond (preferably by personal message) so we can get this resolved?

Wait for your wallet to sync.
You can also put your receiving address  here in the search field  to check the balance (and all payments to that address)

My wallet synced over a week ago, but the payment never appeared there, nor in the mining.bitcoin.cz payout history, nor in blockchain.info at my address. Again, the payout should have occurred a few weeks ago.

If Slush could private message me to resolve this, that would be appreciated.

I've seen that before. Usually it happens when the unlucky Bitcoin user enters their transaction amount in the txn/miner fee field of their wallet GUI by accident. Live and learn (and get burned)! ;-)
