14+ hours doesn't mean the pool is broken -- look at the network stats:  Slush at 24.3 THash is only 4% of network.  The ASIC's are definitely arriving.

About 8% currently actually - usually around 9-11 depending on people bailing out when luck is low - never seen slush's pool as low as 4%...

did you mine at the end of the round? For me the reward is OK.

No, but I mined this humongous block for ~13 hours - couldn't wait till end. It is frankly completely irrelevant at which end I mined. I want share for job done. It was the same with that 7h block on Saturday. Got big 0 at first, and then it recalculated itself after 12 or so hours. If it doesn't with this one, naquadah enriched nuke is prepped and ready  Tongue

Frankly, it is not irrelevant when you mined. This pool uses a reward calculation method where the value of each share you submit is calculated as a function of time elapsed since the start of the round.

scoreshare = exp(t/C)

where t is round duration in seconds, and C is a constant, currently 200. This means the value of each share is exponentially growing as time goes, so old share have significantly lower value compared to recent shares. If you stop mining while others don't, your part of total pool score for that round will decrease exponentially. This is public information, each pool publishes the method it uses to calculate rewards.  You can read the original post about this reward calculation method here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976.msg50002#msg50002.

Unfortunately, many do not read before taking decisions and feel unjust afterwards.

Hope the pointer helps to get started,
   T

LOL I disconnected miner at 99.97% because I had to (powerful thunderstorm). Don't tell me that all work done before that is worthless [0.000000000] because [insert excuse a/b/c/d....]. It looks like returning to Slush pool was a mistake. End of story.

Actually, leaving the pool before round end was the mistake, not returning to the pool. Tongue
