But we do get a number of "luck hoppers" and this has been noticed and commented on in the past.

It seems to go like this:

  • The pool gets lucky
  • People notice, switch over, and the hash rate goes way up
  • For some odd reason, the luck goes down with the increased hashrate
  • The luck hoppers leave and the hash rate starts to return to "normal"
  • The pool starts getting lucky again....

It's either the luck hoppers or poor people like myself. I have 16Gh all over and these 9 hour round shortly after a 5 hour round makes mining worthless. I just switched after the last 9 hour round. I know we usually see shorter rounds after some long ones but there are other pools that somehow do work differently that affects the outcome.

I see that worker difficulty now adjusts automatically, regardless of the difficulty set through the web interface. Has this been discussed already?

I've also noticed it in my guiminer's console log.
For a slow worker that should be running at diff 1, it works as follows:
Initially, the "unknown" worker is set to diff 3 just after the connection. Then, after a short time without obtaining any share, the pool resets the worker to diff 1.
[edit]
Maybe after obtaining some share(s), but too little for a higher difficulty setting.
Can someone check pool behaviour when changing worker hashrate later during minig?

I noticed that as well. It seems to make for even larger swings from block to block on my payouts but sure it all evens out.

Just surfing around stats of my backup pools because since switching to slush in August I haven't stopped here nor looked back. .. I feel this is a pretty lucky pool with a strong enough % of network speed. I really don't see that I was making any more money on guild, and especially not bitminter..

Anyways just bored and posting...

Yikes look at these blocks by bitminter

I've asked here before but I don't think I have found an answer.

I really need to change my email address. Where do I do that?

Where the hell you gonna find a virgin nowdays? Unless
computer geek/nerd virgins count, lord knows they are
about all that's left (and will be forever probably.)

Can we use one of those?

Cool, my little Jalapeno (running at about 7GH) pulled a block today. #256635

I'd wondered if it was worth running it any more when 7GH only pulls around .0034 +/- per block. Guess it was.

That is deadly cool, that's the first thing I look at when I visit the page, but I've
never seen a "1" in that column. And I still think that the guy that finds the block
should get something, just for the hell of it, I'd give up 1/25th of my reward so
that the block finder could get a whole coin, in fact.

I wonder how long you'd have to solo mine to get a block with a Jally. If ever.

Well, it depends.
Generally, you create a new e-mail account with new address and cancel / abandon the old one.
But maybe you have changing your e-mail address for Slush's pool on your mind?

What has your change been like? I mean, if it has made remarkable change in payouts. Previous diff, current diff?
