If the numbers are right, that is a huge loss for a casino. But stake is quite big operating in large numbers as well.
So I think, this won't have a big impact on their operations. But of course, a loss is a loss.
For a small casino, this amount of loss will probably end their existence in this industry.

It seems it has already been confirmed on Twitter, by the way.
Sure this seems to be a very big blow for a casino or even an exchange, but this is not the first time a big service has suffered something like this, I am quite sure Stake has the resources to control de damages caused by this and move on. Who knows, they may even try to go after whoevers is behing this theft, that quatity is worth it.

Hoping to read more information about this incident, even if it is unlikely to happen, some good news could come.

They have halted transactions on some networks, so it's possible that they are already looking into it. $40 million in hot wallet is no joke, assuming that it's only concerning polygon, ETH, USDT, and USDC without BTC included. That's something to really look at. If Stake is handling this big of an amount in hot wallet, I can't even imagine how much is inside their vaults.

They are probably after the hacker right now, and are checking other avenues to which they can be attacked. It's a huge blow for Stake, but perhaps not something that can render them non-operational.

Twitter exploded in one moment, I saw news tweets about this hack from many people. They started with $14 million, but that number continued to grow with new tweets. But I don't think we need to worry about this. They have money to cover it at this or any other time I guess. And it's probably someone from the inside, I think they will catch them soon.

Perhaps just an odd coincidence considering the fact that in that Twitter post they say Stake.com wallet has made multiple interactions with the same address previously.

As some people alluded to it above, now the biggest threat is not the hack itself if they've already managed to secure all their wallets, but the risk of a panic bank run from the customers. I guess most of people will at least try to withdraw their funds in the coming days or hours, and if the bankroll of Stake is not large enough they won't be able to cover all the withdrawals, winnings, bonus and campaigns payouts.

Read a post in the telegram group about a USD 41m hack on stake.com. I checked this thread and there was no information from the team. Likewise through X, there is no post stating that Stake.com has been hacked. Maybe, it was done for the transfer of user assets, but account X @WatcherGuru considers it a hack. If it's being hacked, there should be valid news from the team. If the team doesn't provide an update, it looks like this is just a misunderstanding.

They can afford to create more noise about recent happenings on their site since it may create more panic to the people who use their site if they release a statement about hacking issue. Maybe for now they are thinking about detailed explanation about those incident and I also don't know if they can able to handle that huge lose since $40 million dollar is so huge.

Regarding this hack... well this is not a small sum for sure, but I don't think that their business could have a serious interruption or any real damage. However, if a leader of that industry can receive such damage, it means that this industry is still primitive and a lot of security measures must be implemented in the upcoming future.

I can acquit to that, since I processed a deposit on there an hour before the $10 million dollar race ended and they were distributing the prizes. That hack must of just occurred while this was happening on the site because nobody in chat were talking about it yet. Then about 15 minutes later I seen the trickling of the first posts on twitter/X about it with the first hack job being done for the sum of $16m in eth, dai and usdt.
There was a player who received their prize for the race and said he got $300 but lost alot more than that amount given 10 fold. His join date was Aug. 25th so approximately 12 days and have reached platinum II. They had mentioned they have wagered well over $250k during the month long race.

As for the RTP you have mentioned, that did happen. Right after the race ended I wagered my entire deposit of $725 within only 15 rounds on Stake Originals so within less than 5 minutes they had managed to drain my balance.

There are people take advantage of situation then fake those emails so that either they can scam people or stole their details. So he or other should verify if the email they receive is legitimate and not a scam.

Its so important on times of crisis that they should always ask the legitimate support so that they will not get tricked by scammers. Also to good if there's no costumers funds lost in this incident since many  feel some relief that their money is safe.
