It's great you are being cautious.  Here's how I see it:

1) Gnosis has already delivered on the RSA UFO project.
2) Meeh vouches for him and has hired him to do other work for him.
3) He has been contributing code for months (see github).

...I trust that he can pull this off, but I understand your hesitance.

1) The rsa ufo project is nonsense.
2) Could meeh provide some details? Work gnosis has done? Qualifications?
3) Seen the github. Not impressed.

Yeah.... if you posted on your real account, someone might take you seriously.

Who the hell are you and what are your credentials/qualifications?  Why would anyone
care about what you have to say about rsa ufo?  Why would we care whether you
are impressed?

Good luck with whatever scam coin you are worried about.

Give Gnosis a chance to respond, although it seems he is hard at work so that might take a while. Personal transparency might be a big ask, considering we're talking about a revolutionary anonymous currency project. Satoshi didn't reveal his identity and few blame him for that. To the people with doubts, I suggest going through his previous comments in bitcointalk and reddit to learn a bit more.

Gnosis, thanks for your post, it is not that hard, right?  Wink

Troll/s got the attention more than he could have imagined.
Much attention to him he did not have afforded nor from his loved ones.

I suggest everyone to refrain from answering trolls. We feed them that way.
Important is that they follow us, and that's good!

Means that they haven't bought and maybe wanted to buy at 0.0005 / sell at low price,
or they expect the success of their coin, based on the lies here on ANC thread.

Why would supporter of ANC made new profile account and asks normal questions,
or by questions spreading lies with non existent facts?!

If you guys don't trust Gnosis you have doubts about Meeh.
Doubting both and you still invest in ANC  Huh

If you don't trust in the Devs you should not be in Crypto at all.

It's not like Gnosis and Meeh don't have Commits in the Github, they do.

Be it as it may, leave if you think it's just another deadline being missed.

Here are some nice pretty tables from analyzing the RSA UFO project results, including ranking of UFO participants:

^ Yes, that's 8 years of total core time!  Shocked

More information will come after I sleep. Smiley

Now that we are getting close to seeing Zerocoin in action, we are thinking about translating the (new) website and wiki into a couple of different languages. Based on the political climate in China and Russia, I think that we should probably start with chinese and russian. Given that bitcoin is becoming increasingly important in South America, I think that we should probably concentrate on Spanish as well. How does this sound?

So, first, are there any native chinese, russian, or spanish speakers in this forum that would be willing to help out?

Second, we would either like to pay a community member to do this, or put out an ANC-per-word bounty. However, given the amount of ANC in the donation address, this wouldn't be too attractive, at least at the current ANC price.... If you want to help jump start this initiative, think about donating ANC to the project.

Lastly, I would just like to remind everyone that we still have about 700 ANC in bounties open. Details can be found here on the Anoncoin wiki.

I seem to be stuck on block #236310 & have been for days. It's been a couple weeks since I opened the wallet & hadn't had any issues before. Any ideas what might be the issue?

If you are connected to enough nodes and tried restarting ... and waited long enough, there are 2 things you can do. Resynch or Delete the blockchain.

Windows:
HomeFolder -> AppData ->Roaming -> Anoncoin -> Delte "Blocks"
Linux:
~/.anoncoin -> delete "blocks"

My guess is that you didn't wait long enough for the program to find the blocks and closed it before..

I deleted the blockchain yesterday, & let it run all night. It got stuck @ 3 weeks back. Luckily I backed up the block chain & am back to block #236310 which is 12 day back.
Prior to that, I had just let it run for a couple days in the background hoping it would eventually sync.
Going through the debug file, I see nothing but "connection timeout" repeatedly.

So can you see that you are connected to some nodes?

Maybe you activated i2p and are not connected to the darknet? ...Go to options, and check if you checked the box "enable i2p" if so .. uncheck it and run again.

Another thing might be... well not really, the Wallet connects to nodes via TCP port 8333

- Did you try to reinstall? =) Don't forget to backup your wallet then.

I hope that all such endeavours inspire the devs to continue being stellar . Thanks a ton!

Hmm, after an hour it still says my transaction is unconfirmed. 0/6 confirmations. I don't understand what's wrong. I'm not too familiar with the ANC wallet, but I did the usual routine. Why isn't the network picking up my tx?

Mine too!!

Still hasn't been picked up. Tried restarting, deleting the blockchain e.tc.

Still 0/6 conf.

Any ideas? Will it return to my wallet if it doesn't get picked up, or stuck in limbo?

I think Monero (XMR) is very interesting.

2. If you sent it from your wallet-qt, load your wallet Backup from before when you made the transaction, and transfer again ( happened to me sometimes too...)
If you don't have the Wallet backup from before, export your privatekeys from every Address you have in your wallet, put them in a text file. Delete the wallet.dat file, start the program again and import all privkeys, restart... (always worked for me)

Okay troll, this is my first and last reply to you, since I'll be putting you on my ignore list.

[...]
3) It is silly for such a fuss about others stealing zerocoin from anc when anc took it, nearly complete, from others with no negotiation nor respect.
[...]

Negotiation was not possible, since the Zerocoin team at JHU ignored my attempts to reach out for months, and I have credited them in the past, and will also credit them in the Anoncoin app when Zerocoin is released. Furthermore, they obviously no longer have a stake in libzerocoin, as they started from scratch to design a new system that they believe is better. I disagree with that belief since there is apparently no way to generate the parameters in a trustless manner, so I am building on their original system.

Also, it is not a trivial matter to add RSA UFO support (which I have completed a couple days ago), and integrate it into a working crypto-currency (which I am now working on). This is why no other coins have added Zerocoin, AFAIK.

I dont know if you mean that I'm the troll here but then your wrong. I bought some anc a while ago and heard some guy on ltb say that there was this problem with the zerocoin protocol. This guy was apparently some well respected brilliant coder etc so I took that for granted since I don't have the capability to understand the whitepaper myself.

With the latest price movement I visited this tread again and then I saw this guy's question what I was wondering myself. Still not understand if there is a solution, but maybe that because of my lack of knowledge regarding the topic. RSA and UFO says me nothing.. Huh could you explain? Just trying to understand it better to see if I should invest more  Smiley

You are not a troll, you are just a curious person.

I am the troll.

Still, something is not quite right about gnosis and this whole zc project.

The missed deadlines are trivial, there are enough other peculiarities that people should at least be cautious.

None of the questions I asked earlier were unreasonable, but the questions were either ignored or diverted.

I'll ask one of those questions again. Maybe it was covered somewhere and I missed it.

Question What exactly are gnosis's qualifications, and are there people who will vouch for him?

Zerocoin today is a month or two away, as it was last month and the month before. Gnosis has made it clear he wants cash up front for the project. He himself would not accept that his work would increase the value of anc enough to compensate him.

Or perhaps he does not have any savings and needs cash up front to pay bills? No money in the bank but a yifted cryptographer who will revo altcoins? I doubt it.

Again, some hint about your qualifications gnosis? A college degree in something?

Please be cautious people. I hold anc, still. But something does not seem right here.

No need to abandon ship yet. Lets give him some more time to respond.

I understand he could have valid reasons for not answering such questions here.

Therefore I recommend a Proof of Developer Analysis:

I deleted the blockchain yesterday, & let it run all night. It got stuck @ 3 weeks back. Luckily I backed up the block chain & am back to block #236310 which is 12 day back.

blockminsize=0
blockmaxsize=1000000
blockprioritysize=1000000
proxy=127.0.0.1:9050
rpcuser=anoncoinrpc
rpcpassword=*xxxxxxxx*
daemon=1
server=1

addnode=198.199.81.74
addnode=74.65.163.191
addnode=91.178.75.205

You could add my tor address also:
ie:
addnode=45y2lyszn5qnpt3l.onion
( i'd like to see if it works )

I run tor, i2p, and clearnet, and normally have ~50 connections, but when we've had the difficulty issues i get behind too
atm i have 7 i2p peers and about 20 ipv4

fyi, the steps i follow to get up to speed are:

1. stop the daemon

2. rm .anoncoin/peers.dat

3. edit the .anoncoin/anoncoin.conf and:
add/uncomment
  discover=1
and comment
  #noirc=1 ... if set
  #proxy= ... if set

4. this way you will connect to all the clear net nodes for the sync
ie: it'll use all the interfaces to connect like eth0

5. reverse the comment process when it's sync'd

6. always check what connections you have by:
ie: /home/anoncoin $ ./anoncoin/src/anoncoind getpeerinfo | grep addr

7. look for errors too: tail -f .anoncoin/debug.log -n 1000

hope this helps

K1773R - <3 will you help out again ^_^. I hate cryaptsy so much; it's like the abusive person you keep coming back too. With all the new interest it was bound to happen. Thanks for helping w/ my transactions before. Someday i'll have a real job and enough crypto to help out lol. When it says 'hero' member, you are like the cryptsy dragon slayer!

And Re: naysayers/trolls
No, PLEASE!

ABANDON SHIS SHINKING SHIP! SHO SFILLED WISH RATHS!

So, Gnosis doesn't actually exist. It's a german computer collective; they take turns working as the spokesperson. It's easier to avoid having one person glued to a webpage 24/7. In the alternative, 'it' does exist, and just chooses not to feed the trolls like some of us do. (Take note of the, 'do not feed trolls sign'). But I think you just need a little cheese with that whine. And this "POD" thing you speak of? What REPUTABLE coin has used it? Caveat Emptor and all that. I've lost more money from that thing then anything else. I wonder if you could get litigious with that, i.e. people knowingly relied upon these POD assertions of it being a 'safe' (safe, in crypto, right?) financial asset. Seems to ring a bell somewhere, was that aig? Then again, this is the 'wild west.'

I guess my issue is, who really cares about his qualifications? I for one hope he has none. And anyone else helping with the project; the less known the better. I appreciate Meehs full disclosure but recognize that as a prudent move regarding the promotion of i2p/mesh/etc. but hidden devs, def prefer someone like an idiot savant. Some lone genius hiding on a mountain with a cistern collecting drinking water; wifi via hacked satcom links. Makes it much more dramatic and for a better movie. A better question would be, if this is successful, well when, who is he selling his book/movie rights too? You need to add a few car chases and some nefarious villains but you could do a whole side story with trolls.

But really, I don't want to know who/what he/it is. Code is being put into a github page, that's good enough for me.
If it works it works, if it doesn't it doesnt. If it doesn't happen until a year from now; great. We've waited this long. We can wait a bit more.
I'd rather the devs take their time. You've seen them working on strengthening the infrastructure necessary to make this work.
Do it once and right as opposed to a broken release filled with lies.
Please, if you are so hesitant and concerned about the legitimacy of this project, put your coins where your complaints are and dump.
Dump them all. See if the price crumbles. I've seen a lot of 'anonymous' coins promising the world.
How many of them have come close to touching the sky? Most just seem stuck in the muck and mire.

I know. Don't feed the trolololols. I'll go sit in the corner and get some candy corn and wait for october ^_^

[...]
Also, gnosis, post your BTC, ANC addresses please

BTC: 14QnfqVG3CqLGBYHgD8tPYJVLxQ2AfvPEx
ANC: AU4hFCFZLhB2gTyG4VbaEurXGrTMNW2nu6

Sent 5.0 ANC (10% of my savings!) to gnosis. Anybody keeping track of how much more is needed?

Transaction ID: e0196433467570e006960470ee91469c8731e403dbb1fc01e7d53bf85a4611c6

You inspired me to do the same. Sent 36.8 ANC

1. Did you send it via Cryptsy?
(always worked for me)
well, there are 2 new invalid txs from craptsy!

EDIT: these two txs arent the ones from you, nvm.

Why is cryptsy sending invalid transactions? are they using an old client or something?

I made two transactions from cryptsy recently (2500 ANC + 2500 ANC) both unconfirmed for a long time. Invalid?

PS: I'm looking to buy 10-20k ANC, please contact me if interested in doing a deal outside of cryptsy.
