sunk818, racebyu I have a laptop connected and i have two separate hubs for 8 USB sticks MLD2. The problem is that if power failure and after comes back even if i connect remote to laptop and restart bfgminer i still get FutureBit write error after 2-3 minutes. And to get them run again i have to restart hubs and is need to be there.

The laptop still run on battery after power goes down. I don't know if i can find a solution.

If your running windows, trying disabling the COM ports and re-enabling them. That should clear any driver errors caused by the power down. If that still does not work, sounds like the hub is just not properly resetting and not much you can do about it. You could also install some sort of remote switch/relay on the hub socket and restart the hubs remotely that way.

Mining of different Altcoins per Wallet does not need a pool.

So my question is:
Is it neccessary to mine via a pool with the moonlander? Or can solo mining  be  done directly into a wallet on the same computer, where bfgminer starts, - if a few open nodes outside can be reached by the wallet?
What must be the start_moonlander2.bat file be structured to do so? Or is this not possible at all?

Or could the wallet be connected with moonlander2 via the .conf file in the wallets folder - so that moonlander2 is dirigated by the wallet?

Thanks for kind info!

Unfortunately bfgminer does not support direct solo mining with scrypt. If you don't want to connect to another solo pool what you can do is setup Litecoin wallet RPC, connect that wallet to a proxy pool on your local network, then connect bfgminer to the proxy pool. Its the same thing as solo mining directly to the wallet, you just need to create the local proxy pool to handle stratum connection i.e.( bfgminer ->proxy stratum->getwork local litecoin wallet daemon)

Thank you for your informations jstefanop!

I have tried hard to get it running for solo mining a scrypt altoin the last hours, but now making a small pause - which means, i am pool mining with moonlander2 at https://hash-to-coins.com/ at the moment - already 10 satoshi reward ... and altcoins in online wallet, i never heared of (e.g. pink coin, CampusCoin ...), haha. ;-)
not a bad sort of pause i mean ... .
___________

Nevertheless, I thought perhaps there could be a way, like this:

1. open the config file of your Altcoin (lets call it "ALT") wallet. change "rpcallowip=XXX.XX.XX" to the lan ip of the computer with the wallet e.g. rpcallowip=172.986.7

but i stilll don't know how to

2. start the wallet with the -server flag e.g. C:\Program Files blablabla\ALTCOIN\ALT-qt.exe
3.start bfgminer with the following commands like bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://172.986.7:XXXXX -u username -p password

...

lets see, perhaps another day ... .

Thanks anyway for your fast and kind instructions!

do any local proxy pool software come to mine? Windows, macOS, or Linux?

I saw mention of this... but I wasn't sure since it mentions going from getwork to stratum:

Unfortunately bfgminer does not support direct solo mining with scrypt.
It does if the wallet supports GBT. Most of them do.

Hi!

Yes, as GetBlockTemplate is implemented since 2012 - and the scrypt-algo-wallet is from 2014 - it should work somehow.
But i have tried really a lot in the past weeks - I did not find a way for bfg-miner (and other miners) and my scrypt-algo wallet.

So my only question is: How to configure bfg-miner, and the conf-file, that a connection can be built between moonlander2 and the wallet?

My last try looked like this ...

bfg-miner autoexec.bat:

Quote

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:40022 -u user -p password -S MLD:COM4 --set MLD:clock=777
pause

and for the altcoin.conf file it looked like this:

Code:

rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=40022
listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
gen=1
syncnode=true

addnode=XX.XXX.XX.XXX
addnode=YY.YYY.YY.YYY
addnode=ZZ.ZZZ.ZZ.ZZZ
...

Thxs for advice!

The issue is bfgminer does not support GBT for scrypt...it does for SHA256. I probably should get around to adding support to it once I find some time, since luke-jr probably wont do it.

Like I said in the meantime its easy to setup a proxy pool...something like this should work: https://github.com/CryptoManiac/stratum-mining-proxy

This is really old so not sure if it will work with segwit enabled now....always test this stuff on testnet to make sure your going to get the block rewards...last thing you want is to hit a block with a moonlander to find out your stratum proxy was not working correctly  Cry

bfg-miner autoexec.bat:

Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:40022 -u user -p password -S MLD:COM4 --set MLD:clock=777
pause

I wouldn't call it autoexec.bat. I would call it somethingelse.bat and it should look like this:
Code:
@bfgminer.exe --scrypt --no-longpoll --generate-to <Your Altcoin addy> -o http://127.0.0.1:40022 -u user -p password -S MLD:all --set MLD:clock=desiredFREQ
It means you must add --generate-to
And forget the GPU params, you are not using a GPU.

and for the altcoin.conf file it looked like this:

Code:
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=40022
listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
gen=1
syncnode=true

addnode=XX.XXX.XX.XXX
addnode=YY.YYY.YY.YYY
addnode=ZZ.ZZZ.ZZ.ZZZ
...

I wouldn't set gen=1, it activates cpu mining on the altcoin daemon. It also helps if you set
Code:
disablewallet=1
it works better.

The issue is bfgminer does not support GBT for scrypt...it does for SHA256. I probably should get around to adding support to it once I find some time, since luke-jr probably wont do it.
You don't need to do anything. The latest version on moonlander github works fine for local mining.

So, I have a question.  I am thinking of getting some of the Eyeboot Mini's for my USB hub, and I'd like to power them with my power supply.  Could I power them with something like this?  https://www.amazon.com/ChenYang-Express-5-5X2-5mm-Plugs-Gridseed/dp/B00S6GE7ZY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1535359771&sr=8-2&keywords=gridseed+power  My usb hub is too weak to power my Moonlander 2's otherwise.  I'm not sure if these could handle to power requirements.  I don't want to burn anything up.  Smiley

Hi there,

I've got a general question which should be easy to answer.
I'm just playing around with cpuminer-yescrypt. Right now I'm pool mining myriadcoin. The rate is like 1.3 khash/s on my spare PC with a dual core CPU which is fine. The intention is not to earn any money. I'm just curious and happy when things are working.

The Moonlander 2 is supposed to have a hashrate of 3-5 MH/s. I'm pretty sure I'm overseeing something here. It's just a USB drive with a tiny fan. How can I compare these rates? It's unlikely that the Moonlander has a rate that much higher than my PC CPU.

Thx in advance.

It has 1 ASIC chip, thus it's hasrate is much higgher than CPU or GPU.

Those are designed for 12V PCIE so you would definitely fry the moonlanders if you tried to hook them up to that. Either way you can't, since thats a 12v DIN connector, and the only way to power Moonlanders is through the USB port.
