Honestly, this thread has been bumming me out, I’ve been a staunch supporter of Dero for months now and used to love the community’s helpful, synergistic vibe. I used to visit this thread and the Dero forum multiple times a day, but find myself coming less and less. The holier-than-thou approach of the team to an outpouring of disappointment from their early supporters and the toxicity that breeds has killed what I used to love coming to this community for.

Whos toxic lol and what 'outpouring of disappointment'

The only things i'm disappointed in is the fact i didn't discover this project sooner, the fact that stocks.exchange couldn't figure out withdrawals easily resulting in me not buying piles of Dero at 45 cents, the fact that ASICs came along making it so I couldn't mine Dero for a considerable amount of time.

As for the project this is literally the project I'm most excited about and believe has the best chance of mooning to be a top coin.

The devs are keeping their project close to the chest which is why they're not out promoting it.. instead focusing on completing their objective. The only person I remember reading that was getting all salty in this ANN thread is a guy who wanted their source code with no logical reason for needing it this early (only reason I could think of why he was so insistent was he wanted to copy the work and attempt to complete it before the 3 man Dero team using a large backer, massive team, millions in marketing money, taking first move advantage and make it appear as though Dero was a clone of their work) <-- could totally be wrong about the last part but i don't think I am

I think I’m going to look for another project to join and back. Not sure I can keep going with this community in its current state.

Reported, this is a blatant copy-paste of a comment I made about a month back when ASICs first hit the scene out of frustration with the DERO team ignoring their community at the time (GPU miners used to a low hashrate) and "welcoming" ASICs. I have since moved past that sentiment and am super excited about what the team is going after.

Don't know who's behind it, but someone is looking to spread FUD here (maybe whoever is picking up the massive bags on stocks.exchange).

Yep, plagiarism is running rampant these days and pretty much every thread I follow has at least one plagiarized post to it per day. Most of the time the plagiarized post makes no sense in the current context, but this one just happened to seem relevant/legit. I suspect the goal is just to get the userid up to Jr Member so it can earn more on bounties and sig campaigns rather than anything purposeful like spreading FUD; ie, this is more likely to be account farming.

But yeah, I'm definitely excited to see what Atlantis does/is... I sure hope it is worth the excruciating wait!  Tongue

Hi Serena & team DERO,

Apart from making a clear statement with Atlantis release that DERO prefers to go back to ASIC-resistance, is there a longer term business vision available for us, explaining how you will distinguish from all the other alts out there and bring volume/value ($) to the coin? If you look at the charts (go to https://coinlib.io/coin/DERO/DERO and select YTD), we can't ignore there is quite an important link of volume and price with ASIC's mining which, if I assume, will drop significantly after the Atlantis release ?

I don't think it has anything to do with ASICs. Whales have been buying sell stacks raising the price dramatically for short bursts. This has been happening since Dero was 45 cents popping to 80 cents.. drops to 45 cents pops to 80 cents.. then when news of atlantis was coming in a month or so price shot up to around 2.00.. still seeing spikes from someone buying the sell stack. Its just whales accumulating in short bursts.

If anything the ASICs are the ones who are dumping their coins on the market trying to make their ROI on the ASIC in the shortest time possible. The Dero GPU mining community are more likely HODLers.

Part of this is about whales buying huge amounts for sure. The other part is that ASICS' been dumping for quite a long time so they've got some BTC on their hands and they're also trying to pump the price a bit before the algo change goes through to get the best price. Just look at what happened to MSR and all other CN coins after the fork. Sure Dero is the most outstanding coin I've seen so far but our community is relatively small.  Plus there are many greedy GPU miners out there and Dero's gonna be a gold mine for them at least for a day or two. Of course all this does NOT mean that the price will significantly drop cause at the same time Atlantis will bring more light to Dero, we'll see soon and I'm so damn excited!  Grin Grin Grin

Not sure if this is the right place to post this - if not, please point me in the right direction.

At the time of writing this, it is now 43 hours since I sent 10 Dero, and the amount does still not appear on the exchange I sent it to. The blockchain explorer at https://explorer.dero.io/ says the transaction has 857 confirmations - and still counting. Does this sound right? Looking at more recent transactions, I see maximum 20 confirmations. When can I assume my transaction will be completely confirmed?

This is my first Dero transaction, and I'm quite disappointed about it.

Look like an issue on exchange end.

You should check their twitter to see if they report any issue (wallets frozen, due to other coin or probably unexpected maintenance, this happened some days ago on Trade Ogre), if not open a support ticket.

This is always exchange software problem. It is common with many coins and depends on the exchange backend. Some exchanges can get overloaded if many new people join. But sending Deros across the network has always been very fast.

Thanks for chiming in. I contacted stocks.exchange support, and they're taking a look.

I just don't understand why it can be the recipient's problem, since transactions are approved by nodes in the network. Unless the exchanges' node is messing things up, so the transaction won't complete? Can anyone explain please?

If the transaction is on the blockchain then it HAS to be the recipient's problem.  They are simply not syncing their wallet to the blockchain or have some other back end issue.  The only other explanation is you sent it to some other address by mistake so you are looking in the wrong place.

DERO-Atlantis few features:
https://forum.dero.io/t/dero-monthly-update/446

It is said that the current PoW cann't prevent block withholding attack(Selfish mining).
DERO - Atlantis is upgrading existing existing block chain technology

Block time of ~3 seconds
500 TPS
No orphan blocks
ASIC resistant new algo,,,,,,

Stock price is very cheap though.

They've already backed off their claim of 3 seconds (under the pretense that they can do it they just don't see the need to do it right now).  I suspect they are having trouble meeting that goal and when Atlantis launches all references to "3 seconds" will mysteriously vanish.

As far as "no orphans" goes, we'll see, myself I'm highly skeptical.  Pretty sure that would be a first in cryptocurrency PoW systems.  If anyone knows of any other coin that can do this please chime in.

They've already backed off their claim of 3 seconds

Not at all, we actually beat that by a significant amount and made it to 2 seconds. If you have a convincing reason for 2 second PoW blocks, please let us know and we will consider anything we missed.

If we had pushed 2 second blocks (and still can easily) people would be upset we didn't include those with lesser network infrastructure.

Again though, if you have a convincing reason, please let us know and we will consider it. The code will be available for your personal review and I look forward to discussing the technical details together!
