I once read an article that says bitcoin is used as a payment transaction for terrorists and hackers. And maybe you guys in this forum also already know it. But here i want to convey my personal opinion in that matter. I think that internet and bitcoin interrelated. Many terrorists and criminals use internet .so also with bitcoin which used perpetrator However, despite all these issues, do people make concrete efforts to ban the internet? No. Not because removing and banning Bitcoin is difficult, but because the internet offers more positive than negative. For the same reason, we have to be more careful about our mindset for Bitcoin, because much evidence has shown that Bitcoin brings many positive, if not more, effects than the internet. Internet and Bitcoin are just devices that 'bad guys' and 'good people'. Fortunately, the world is filled with more people in the 'good people' category.

Actually I also read an article just like what you read but there's other article that saying bitcoin is used by the criminals to pay their drugs by just giving them a bitcoin. They are using bitcoin for transaction because they all know that from here they can't get caught by the police because it is a secure or private site.

I think it's because bitcoin in transacting is so privacy that the government and the police will find it hard to trace it and cause bitcoin to be an excellent target for crime deals. We can see in my country that Indonesia is used to buying drugs so cause news that bitcoin in Indonesia will be banned but news uncertain.

I think its true that bitcoin is used for criminal such terrorist and hacker or murder.
However its not bitcoin fault because the criminals have been exist along before bitcoin born. So bitcoin is just a tool which can use for negative or positive activity.

Maybe. For terrorism. I read an article regarding ISIS using bitcoins as a neans to buy guns and weapons and to fund their skirmish of terror. I also read that bitcoins are now used to buy and sell drugs. This is because people are manipulating and taking advantage of bitcoins feauture like animosity and its decentralization.

The question's pretty straight forward.
My answer is yes.
This thread already discussed this topic. (for reference)

If you think about how, there are tons of opportunities and loopholes for criminals to shape-shift their ill-gotten wealth to safe-haven.
About 2 years ago when I catch a news about money laundering, graft and drug trades, I was wondering how they managed to get it out or in to the country without the banks noticing (of course, paper money is the best).
But after realizing how blockchain works and the services of big companies operate, as simple as the amount of money involved per trade can identify how they managed to do so.

Not just Bitcoin, all Digital Currencies available to exchanges are susceptible to this kind of trades.
The good thing is, Trading Bitcoin to Fiat is slightly being regulated in some countries making it less preferable by the unlawful.

If the scammer is serve as a criminal we can say that bitcoin is used by the criminals. I read an article that many investors are lost their account that have a million of investment. But also it defends on you to prevent incident like that and to prevent criminal activity that affects our bitcoin activity and transactions. And we all know that we can earn more money in this industry so the  temptation is always there because you have a budget to buy or to transact in to illegal activity or to buy illegal things like drugs that may result criminality and bad things.

Yes it is used by criminals, as is the dollar, the euro, or any other money. This cliche is stupid.

Technically yes because anybody can use bitcoin in their transactions without tracing their identities. This is the sad part of bitcoin wherein bad people or you should say criminals are taking advantage on it.

Yes, they are highly used by criminals because of its feature which is the anonymity in transaction were people on both ends can conceal their identity which is very attractive in the eyes of criminals.

Bitcoin is not anonymous. It's traceable and all your transactions are kept forever in the blockchain. They can be backtracked to you many years years from now. Cash can't.

Definitely yes, since bitcoin will not ask your personal identification.
Maybe soon the government will have regulation in transferring big amount money from cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin doesn't ask, but the exchanges do. Same thing with online stores, they will also ask for your name and address. It's naive to think that BTC is the currency of choice for everything illegal because it's anonymous and untraceable.

Fully agree, while Bitcoin might be used by criminals, it is only a small fraction of the community that is bad. Most of the crypto community have good intentions, and want to see Bitcoin and altcoins revolutionise the world. A total ban on crypto will not stop criminals from using it.

Of course not, bitcoin is not an anonymous token, so is it easy to get arrested for criminal use of bitcoin? I don't think they are that stupid.

That's possible. Bitcoin has been used before in the deep web for purchasing illegal things. Because of anonymity, Bitcoin is very useful to hide their identity if they want to buy illegal products to use for their crime. And now, since it is becoming mainstream, it is possible money laundering can be done by simply buying Bitcoin.

Naturally, in the underworld, bitcoin is used because of its anonymity, but it does not make bitcoin a bad currency, and the speech that it is used ONLY in crime is spread by the government in order to have an excuse  their attempts to adjust this currency
