There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

The reason we keep discussing things and never come to a final decision is because we don't have any deadlines.

The development committee needs to set deadlines on when certain decisions need to be finalized.  Then we can all discuss the proposed suggestions and come to a final decision.

Finishing TF to ensure a high tx rate on the primary NXT blockchain needs to be done.  Thank you Come-from-Beyond for doing this and proceeding with BCNext's plan.

Good point.

Maybe that's why we asked a deadline for the Asset Exchange because we feel the same.
If there is anyone daring to set a deadline;

nxtcountdown.com is waiting  Tongue

The deadline that the community asked for AE was for when it would be deployed on the main net.  I believe AE is set to be released at the end of March.  AE deployment on the main net should not be rushed.

Wikipedia.org update!

Hey guys,
after quite long time I finished creating new english version of Nxt wiki page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:NXT (it's always better to do something instead of chatting about it)

We have a very nice german version, but you cannot simply translate the text - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nxt - you need to use new citations in used language.

So it also means this article cannot be translated into languages where are missing published articles in that particular language.

I think now it needs only some grammar corrections and more wiki links and it should finally work. 22 citations could be enough Cheesy

Wow! It's very nice!

It's a good start.  I can see some places where we can improve it.  For instance in the "Advantages" section it says, "Cannot be centralized by building huge ASIC factories on Iceland[15]".  It would be better if it said, "Blockchain security cannot be centralized by large computational farms."

Hei salsacz,

great, thanks for the translation of the german wiki!
I adopted instantly some of your links to the german article and will continue in doing this later.

Do you think, english citations aren't allowed in other languages?

Btw: Guys, I'm still waiting for your ideas how we can illustrate some parts of the NXT-system in graphics. I'm willing to draw them so we can use it in any Wiki-article!

Proposed limit to forging power aims to avoid pool centralization.

Agreed - but if it wasn't "in the plan" then I don't care if we do it or not.

I think we have shown that it is *impossible* for the people in this topic to ever come to a consensus about anything at all (and perhaps a few of you actually work for Ethereum to ensure exactly that).

I am willing to say "let's just go with the plan" (because it is obvious that we'll never work out another plan).

Yes, until there is the voting system in place. After which, we can discuss a topic and then voting on the topic after a certain time has passed.

Understand that it will not avoid pools.

Stakeholder will split their balances and created pseudo-nodes (if whatever forging limit you impose on accounts or nodes).

If you want to avoid pools the right way, find a crypto-solution.

Either I'm totally off-base here, or we are having trouble communicating.

Is not intended to penalize individual account holders.  Capping effectiveBalance is certainly a very simple answer (I'm big proponent of KISS philosophy).  The idea may be flawed, and you could be correct in that a more correct cryptograpically-sound solution might be preferred.

One account owning 5% of NXT is not the problem.  Small number of pools forging on behalf of large majority of NXT is... and, is only a problem if/when unbound leasing of forging power is implemented.

If the only problem with the approach is that it inconveniences large stakeholders, so what?  If it adequately addresses the need to avoid large pool centralization, then it could be a reasonable tradeoff.

Okay. I see.

Let us define several terms. NXT is a layered network (consisting of 4 individual networks = 2 real networks and 2 meta networks):

A2) account holders (meta layer - 1 account holder controls n accounts)
A1) accounts (crypto layer)

N2) node holders (meta layer - 1 node holder controls m nodes)
N1) nodes (physical layer)

The accounts of an account holder act as one.
The nodes of a node holder act as one.

If one forces a split of accounts/nodes, the holder is still the same. So, these accounts/nodes still act as one. So, the security level is the same. In terms of the networks, if one forces N1 and A1 to split, N2 and A2 are still the same.

I hope that clarifies my conclusion.

In the end, it would be an inconvenience for large stakeholders but for nothing.

Here's how well things are going in regards to trying to get things done (for Nxt AT):
http://ciyam.org/open/?cmd=view&data=20140220164742097000&ident=M100V137&chksum=065ecf7d

So in the Nxt AT project there is currently 1 person doing anything (myself) and a total of 0.009 BTC available for the project to allocate (I won't complain about payment as I have received some BTC directly for my contribution).

How much fund have we allocate for AT project? Where is it?

THIS IS  ANOTHER REASON WHY WE HAVE LOST FOCUS!

Lock this thread and let's move to a new forum.

If we have a debate for something the whole thread get's derailed and you have the impression that NXT project is chaotic etc.

Having specialized topics like TF, Instant TXs, AT, AE etc will help a lot both progress and get rid of this feeling that progress is stalled, situation is fuzzy etc. that puts us in a negative feedback loop!

WARNING !!!!!

I have stopped looking at NXT and you should consider the same.
It seems to be possible to generate NXT out of thin air  Huh

Take a look at this account: http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=1739068987193023818
He sends around millions of NXT that he does not have. No problem doing this, because his account balance is able to become negative without any restriction.

If I would hold NXT i would feel betrayed.

Bitcoins are mined out of thin air, just for spending electricity.

Dollars are printed our of thin air, just by the banks/governments.
